The humans in this place were a lot less accommodating than back home. Just throwing it out of the shop was definitely an option, and it had figured that at least one of them would choose to take that path, but it really hadn’t expected all of them to. Maybe when it got to the next place it would have better luck.
Oh it ran out of shops.
That was unfortunate. How was it supposed to irritate people into passing it off onto someone else to be their problem if the people weren’t there to be irritated in the first place? Screeching about in a public shop was one thing, but everything that wasn’t in this one circle type thing of streets was housing, from what it could tell. Busting into someone’s house to irritate them was how you get yourself stabbed, cut to pieces, and shoved into a freezer to cool down. It had learned that particular lesson quite a while ago. The lesson might also have been ‘have someone else give urgant reports up the chain of command’, because then they have to deal with the consequences of their own actions.
It could also have just been a lesson regarding that one particular person. Who would know?
“You’re harassing the people around here, please refrain from doing that until our battle in the future,” says the human, showing up behind it suddenly.
“I do what I want!” it declares, startled, but attempting to cover up the fact it almost jumped out of its skin with pointless bravado, “and I’ve already been thrown out of every shop in the area anyway.”
Planting its stick on the ground, it spins to face the human. Wow, what a tacky haircut. It hadn’t paid any actual attention before, but it was like someone had used a mixing bowl as a level and just cut everything below what the container covered. At least the line was low enough that the human’s face wasn’t covered in hair, but it definitely was a low-effort attempt at grooming. Completely sidetracked, it forgot everything it was thinking about, and went off on a tangent instead.

“I had plans for that poison you took from me by the way. Plans that didn’t involve anyone in this town whatsoever. No one was going to be hurt, but who knows what’s going to happen now that it’s out of my hands? I doubt you know what went into it, or what it’s supposed to do, or how to make sure it’s safe. What I do know is that I wasn’t the one who collapsed a building already. I could, but I didn’t.”
Instead of responding, the human just stands there and listens. Oh wait, was it supposed to be monologuing now? According to etiquette, that’s what one did when a superior was monologuing, because it was rude to interrupt the thought processes of a genius when they were talking about their plans. It had never been on this side of the arrangement though. Did it even have plans? There was ‘get back its stuff’, which was the basic premise, so maybe it could focus on that a little bit.
“When I came to this tiny asteroid and it’s stupid day slash night cycle, I had with me a full suit of armor. There were other things going on at the time, more important things for certain, so I don’t know what happened exactly, but when I awoke here that armor was nowhere to be seen. It’s built to be detachable, just in case something were to happen and render some part inoperable, but in this eventuality, nothing of the sort took place. My armor has been scattered to the winds, and I will retrieve it. That, and nothing less than that, is my immediate goal.”
Now that it was thinking of retrieving things, where had the poison gone anyway? Checking the area around the human with telekinesis, it noticed something insubstantial around their body. Pulling on the immaterial aura like thing around the human, it brings the ‘object’ over to itself, condensing it into a ball of not space.

“And what is this, I wonder?”
Using the standing stick to poke at the bubble, the makeshift poking stick opens up a pocket dimension. Within the confines of the space, there was a deck of cards, a couple of coins, a sword, the leg part of its armor, and a few bottles, one of which it recognizes. The shiny bottle, full of potentially delicious, possibly absolutely terrible tasting poison! There was really no way to know what quality it had until it was starting to drink the stuff.
“I think I’ll be taking that. I’ve been having a slight issue with lack of pockets recently. Have all this ‘not mine’ stuff, good luck actually holding it.”
Gently placing the bottles of not poison on the ground, and just tossing the cards, coins, and sword, the experiment removes the stick from the immaterial space and allows it to close back up. Now was the time to follow the human’s example from earlier and run away.

Sanctuary
A girl searching for someone. A boy who lost his memories. A man from another world. A woman trying to prove her worth. Follow along as this unlikely group of people join forces to help each other accomplish their own goals in this non-epic fantasy adventure. Fair Warning: This fiction contains many of the well-known light novel tropes, though I try to give them my own spin. If you’re tired of them by now, you might want to keep away. There are no demon lords however, nor any end-of-the-world cataclysm situation that only the MC can solve. This story is more about different people coming together and helping each other out to achieve their own goals and objectives.
