《The Voyager: Remastered》Chapter 245: Jean and the Necromancer

Jean wasn’t the only one who realized now was the perfect time to deploy her minions to cover more ground.
A Voyager a distance away waved his hands, and countless more versions of him dashed out from his body. These were his projections. By themselves, they had no ability to influence the material world, but that Voyager could switch place with any of his projections at a moment’s notice. This way, he could be at a million places at once.
Another Voyager deployed millions of self-moving armors into position with a single tap. Every single one of those armors had flight and quite the firepower. That was the benefit of technology-majors. Their minions could be easily duplicated.
Hundreds of thousands of ships appeared across the Chaos Domain. These were the result of countless Voyagers’ accumulation throughout their trips in the Infinite Realms.
Compared to them, Jean’s 700,000 Purifiers and 300,000 Wardens were nothing special.
Sensing the sea of invaders in their territory, Chaos Descendants beyond count made a move. Just as the size of the Chaos Domain was near infinite, so was the number of its inhabitants.
Yet numbers weren’t everything. Their strength was admirable, and an army composed of volatile energy like the Chaos Descendants knew no fear. Unfortunately, while their will was commendable, their tactics weren’t. Chaos Descendants didn't have alliances. The largest units they had were packs or flocks. Facing millions of highly coordinated Supplicants, Voyagers, and Voyager Supplicants, the defenders were easily divided and crushed.
From time to time, a Chaos Descendant with a CAS in the thousands managed to hold their ground against the onslaught of lesser Voyagers or small squads of Supplicants, but it didn't take long before high level Voyagers arrived and wiped the floor with their blood.
Slowly but steadily, the Protector Corps marched into the Chaos Domain, dropping billions and billions of body just to find one person.
Adam stood quietly in a forest. His face and his armor were covered in blood, but his steps were as steady as ever.
Twenty Warmongers approached from all sides. Their weapons raised. Their movement stern. Their expressions, cold.
When Adam pierced the barrier between worlds and jumped into the Chaos Domain, he landed just in front of a newly formed fire dragon. The dragon was just created by the Chaos Domain. When it sensed food coming down from the sky, it followed its instincts and went for a bite.
Except Adam was no food, and he certainly didn't escape the Aggressors and come all the way here just to feed a dragon. After twenty minutes of dragon slaying, Adam pulled his lance out of the beast’s head.
But Adam was already heavily injured before arriving here, and the fire dragon’s last stand added wood to the flames. His combat abilities were at an all-time low since he entered Tier 3.
And it didn't help that the Protector Corps has devoted countless legions to ensure his demise.
Adam first realized the Protector’s presence when one of the Protectors found her way to a strange castle and erased the entire building, along with hundreds of Chaos Descendants with CAS in the tens of thousands who made their way out the door. Adam was lucky. To ensure maximum efficiency, the Protectors scanned for Chaos Descendants matching their description, took them out, and then moved on. If that Protector spent an extra second where she was, she would’ve tracked down Adam already, and the Invasion of the Chaos Domain would be over.
Adam knew this time, he was truly out of options. The Protectors have sealed off the entire Chaos Domain. No one could come in or go out. The Voyagers couldn’t. The Supplicants couldn’t. The Chaos Descendants definitely couldn’t, and neither could he. Chances were, this was where he would meet his ultimate end.

Plus, after the wave of Protectors, a second wave of Voyagers and Supplicants was sent in to wipe the field.
Sooner or later, someone would claim his head.
Adam wasn’t afraid of death. Anyone who feared death wouldn’t have arrived at where he was now. But he couldn’t tolerate the idea that the secrets he held perish with him, and that was exactly what the Protectors wanted to do.
He would not be silenced.
Letting out a deep sigh, Adam waved his lance and pierced space once again. He wasn’t trying to fight a way out or hide as long as possible. Instead, he went straight for his pursuers.
Sensing the Protector Supplicants around him, Adam raised his lance.
“Warmongers, right? Listen to me! The Protectors have betrayed you! This war...”
But the Warmongers had no intention of listening. Already, Adam could sense one of them attempting to contact the Protectors, and he couldn’t let that continue. The former Voyager lifted his lance and blasted a hole through the Warmonger’s chest.
That didn't go well for the rest of the Warmongers.
“Kill him! For the Corps!”
“We will all ascend into Protectors!”
“Wraith! Devour his soul!”
But even after Adam was crippled, he was still much more powerful than a squad of Warmonger foot soldiers. Within ten seconds, the field was covered with Warmonger corpses. Adam was hit a few times, but the wraiths were too weak to do anything.
“Damn it!” Adam cursed as he looked through the bodies. He wasn’t here to kill mere Supplicants! He was here to spread the news! Then again, Warmongers were one of the most loyal servants of the Protectors. He shouldn’t have chosen them. Groaning under his breath, he walked away from the battlefield, leaving bloody footsteps after bloody footsteps after him.
His second target was a Voyager. Adam jumped out of the bushes, but by the body movement of the Voyager, he wasn’t that surprised.
“Voyager! Listen to me!” Adam started, but the Voyager cut him off.
“Seal!”
“What…” Adam frowned. Out of nowhere, a giant crimson seal formed across his body, freezing everything in place. Adam growled and gathered his power, ready to break out with a single strike. But before he could do that, another layer of seals formed beneath that large one. One for each limb. One for his chest and one for his head. Energy movement across his body was crippled.
And that wasn’t over. Yep. You guessed it. A third layer of seals restrained every inch of his body. A fourth restrained every single cell. A fifth took care of every single atom in his body.
Within two seconds, Adam was taken prisoner.
The Voyager waved his hand and lifted his mask. Behind that mask was a cold, mocking smirk.
“Adam, right? You look like you have something to say.”
Adam struggled, but the seals restrained his entire body, including his lips and vocal cords.
“Well, the thing is, I don’t want to hear it.” The Voyager moved his fingers back and forward, and Adam could feel his strength disappearing. “Look, we both know you know something, Adam, and that something is why the Protectors are going through all the trouble to take you down. Tell me that secret, and I will suffer the same fate as you.”
Adam struggled. The only thing left that he could control were his eyes, and he did all he could to gesture at the side.
But that Voyager held strong.
“Oh, and in case you were wondering, the prize the Protectors offered for your head is a chance to join the Corps. I am sure you know how irresistible that is. Now,” He suddenly held his fist tight. “now that we’re done with the talk, time to die. By the way, because I’m so kind, I’ll tell you you’re killed by Voyager Edward.”

The next second, a giant caterpillar leaped out the ground from behind Edward and swallowed him whole.
Just the caterpillar's height was as tall as a building. It didn't even need to open its mouth wide to swallow that Voyager whole. Its body was covered in grooves. Its body stretched on for miles.
Adam collapsed on the ground. The seals on him collapsed without Edward’s input, giving him back the control to his body.
“You dumbass!” He shouted at the caterpillar. This Voyager was really unqualified! His sealing spell was really, really good. Even Adam couldn’t last through one round. But he was the prime example of someone who majored in one subject and completely forgot about the rest. Adam saw the caterpillar coming with his bare eyes, and somehow a Voyager with all his powers failed to notice something that large.
After swallowing Edward whole, the caterpillar turned its attention to Adam. Adam silently stood up. His lance ready. Suddenly, the caterpillar jerked forward, lifting its upper body into the air before bringing it down on the ground hard.
“Ouch, that’s got to hurt.” Adam commented quietly as he stood a safe distance away from the raging caterpillar.
Meanwhile, the caterpillar wasn’t doing so well. The food it just consumed didn't seem to agree with him.
“Seal!”
“Decimate!”
“Decay!”
“Agony!”
Yes, Edward was devoured, but his Voyager armor made sure he had a chance to strike back, and strike back he did. Inside the caterpillar’s body, Edward threw out spells like they were on sale. Seal spells held the caterpillar in place. Decimate spells blew hole after hole in the worm’s insides. Decay spells transformed the worm’s intestines into a pile of goo.
The Agony spells made the caterpillar feel like it would rather die than live in this world for one more second.
Within three minutes, the caterpillar was no longer moving. Out of a hole along its kilometers of body, a black-armored figure crawled out.
“Damn worm!” The Voyager swore, but even so, he had a dozen spells ready, but that was when he realized something.
Adam wasn’t waiting outside to ambush him. In fact, he was gone already.
“Shit!”
At this point, Adam knew he couldn’t just go on to random people and tell them the secret. No one wanted to hear it. Supplicants, because they were too loyal. Voyagers, because they were too afraid of the risks.
But who? If he went blindly from Voyager to Voyager, it wouldn’t be long until he was tracked down. He had to pass the message on .
Suddenly, he remembered someone who would likely accept the message.
Jean Turner.
After returning from the World of the Runes, Adam had a moment of acknowledgment with Jean. He flat-out admitted his hatred for the Protector Corps, and judging from the fact that he was still alive, Adam guessed Jean didn't give him out.
Harboring a traitor was in itself a betrayal. Jean didn't have the loyalty to the Protectors the Supplicants did, and judging from how she was one of the few survivors among eighty some Voyagers that entered the World of the Runes, it was obvious Jean was no slouch either.
Perhaps he would have better luck with her...it wasn’t a sure hit, but he was out of options. Now, there was only one problem.
Where the hell is Jean Turner?
Adam was fortunate. Only a small portion of Voyagers from the entire Voyager Corps was here in the Chaos Domain. Most were still wasting their time in their individual missions. Others were deployed at other locations in the Infinite Realms. Thankfully, Jean was here, and she was busy.
Residing in a mountain in the Chaos Domain was a Necromancer. Just like everyone else in the Chaos Domain, the Necromancer was crafted by the forces of agony. Just a while ago, when he walked out of his dwelling to patrol his territories like he has done everyday since he was created, he suddenly discovered countless strange beings intruding. They reminded him of a powerful, nearly invincible being that he has once seen. That Chaos Descendant also had limbs that splat fire and a body of metal.
Whatever. Anyone that invades into his territory deserved to die. With that thought, the Necromancer rose an army of undead from the ground and engaged those odd creations.
The Necromancer had no idea the invasion has been going on for a full day, and countless top Chaos Descendants, including the one he was just thinking about, have bit the dust already. He wasn’t even past Tier 3. At his level, he couldn’t even sense the Protectors as they go through the skies. It was his fortune, but at the same time, the ignorance that resulted from his fortune would lead to his demise.
If he was aware of what was going on, even with his poor intelligence, he would crawl back to his cave and pretend like he wasn’t there in an effort to wait for the storm to pass. But as of now, he charged forward blindly with all the fury in the world.
His army of skeletons barely took down a squad of the invaders before a slanted figure in black armor appeared before him.
And then this was what happened.
Necromancer: Bend your knees, for your soul is mine!
Jean: o_o
Necromancer: o_O
Jean: Death comes to all, and today, it’s your time.
Necromancer: X_X
Jean: o_o
Pretty much.
After claiming the Necromancer’s soul with overwhelming advantage, unlike how she demolished their souls with the thousands of other Chaos Descendants that she handled before, Jean actually tapped into its memories. Necromancy wasn’t exactly the Power of Death, but they were close. She was trying to get more ways of combat.
It wasn’t an easy task. The Necromancer’s soul was covered in highly volatile energy, and pulling out information from it was like pulling paper through fire. Then again, even a little helped.
At the end, Jean received some tricks on reviving bodies. Jean could use the dead since she became a Reapress, but it was more with the souls. The Necromancer gave her some experience on bringing back corpses. The weaker necromancers could only raise a few skeletons, but for the more powerful ones, if they were given a body of a powerful being, they could bring it back with a portion of its former prowess.
If Jean could learn to combine necromancy and the Power of Death, she could revive the bodies and the souls. In essence, she could completely bring someone back to life.
Even if she couldn’t get Adam, this alone was worth her trip.
Suddenly, a fellow Voyager approached from a distance. At first, Jean expected that to be just another of her millions of comrades, but the sight of the redness in the black armor made her raise her eyebrows.
“Adam. What the hell are you doing here?”
