《Honey, I'm home! [HIATUS]》12 Moss Battle

I stare down the giant armored moleratmadillow while tiny armored rodents peer from their holes in the walls, shuffling their feet nervously. A quick psionic connection shows me a hint of fear rather than preparations for an ambush. In fact, I also sense anticipation. It's like they're rooting for a sports team. I guess I'm in a mole people colosseum? That explains the aggression. Maybe I should have spared my previous opponents? Was this a huge misunderstanding? I can't get very much from their thoughts, their minds are too complicated. Am I the bad guy? Well, what's done is done. It looks like I need to punch the big one a lot, but maybe I'll ease up and let him live. It would bee good practice anyway, I'm already humming in anticipation. I start advancing, and the big beastie does the same and we exchange a few unfriendly swipes. An uppercut from me goes whistling over its head as it ducks down and goes for a low tackle. Thanks to the power of 4 viney legs I don't go down, and instead wrap my limbs around and hang on for dear life. Oh dear, thank goodness I don't really have a back or front, since I don't really have any eyes and my limbs go either way, or else I'd have to make a joke about reverse cowgirl. Well, I have an audience, let's give them a show! I hang on tight, and wrap my vine tendrils in all the crevices on the creatures armor, and slap it on the bum with my free hand, and it goes willd, running about and trying to throw me off. I stubbornly hang on while flailing my tendrils in the air! Yeehaw! A few short minutes later, the moleratmadillow is panting heavily. Thank goodness for the sheer quantity of vine tendrils I can make, my grip is really strong, even if they're a bit weird to use. He falls over on his side and I climb off, victorious! While I was busy playing rodeo, the small moleratmadillows came out of their holes in the walls and have gotten closer. They're still creeping closer, and there's a lot of them. I back away, this is making me feel a little concern. Scratch that, this is some some creepy stuff. As I back farther away, I notice they aren't converging on me at all. They're going closer to the giant rodent currently heaving breaths on the ground. They're keeping their distance from me, and on the other side of the rodent ring, one angry looking beast lunges forward, biting down on Mr Biggs's snout, eliciting a pained squeal and panicked flailing from the larger rodent. Yes, his name is Mr. Biggs now, deal with it. I look on in horror as the tides are unleashed and these vermin pour forth in waves to kill an injured opponent. I was wrong. These things have no honor. After I spent so much effort sparing my opponent, they're going to tear Mr Biggs to shreds in front of me? I THINK NOT. I rush into the crowd, picking up 2 of these vile creatures and swinging them by the tail like a pair of flails, and I only stop the beating when I feel breaking bones, and only for the moment it takes me to grab another rat-thing. A hatred burns hot in my... my... I guess I don't know my own anatomy very well, I don't know what to call it. When I focus on it, I can feel it pulsing, angry, and... coming from my largest soul core? It keeps growing and growing, the intensity of the sensation getting stronger, and with every pulse, I feel stronger. I thought I was mad before, but I was wrong. THIS is real anger, and it's flowing through me like a wildfire. Rodents are clawing at my legs and biting my basket, but now I find myself simply making barehanded strikes that fling my opponents off and make unpleasant crunching noises. I reach Mr Biggs, and knock a few rodents off his exposed limbs. He's rolled himself into a ball, managing to keep them off his vitals, but he's not looking so good. I have a sudden, dumb idea, and get behind him and push him through the crowd like a wrecking ball with one hand, while I smack approaching vermin like they owe me money with the other. It's hard to steer, but once I get him into the tunnel, we don't need to, and the tide is bottlenecked by the narrow entrance. One of my legs isn't working right, and I notice one of the bites left it hanging by a single vine right above the foot. I end up dragging it behind me, and finally reach the door I painstakingly crafted and roll Mr. Biggs through. I stumble through behind him, and smack some stragglers back while the bees enter near the ceiling. They all look quite distressed, I wonder what they're on about. The queen is doing that limb flail that means she's really mad at someone who did something dumb and unbeelike. I focus again as I recieve another savage slash to my midsection from another VERMIN. I pick him up and slam his head against the doorframe, and fling him down the hall. I slam the door, and throw both the bars. I fall back against the wall, and my strength fades Skill Learned Rage Spend .25 Life Force per second to channel all of your life energies into your muscles and bones, for a burst in strength. Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)

Economicalopoly
Humanity had gotten this far. How far, might you be wondering? Quite far indeed. The world had effectively become an ecumenopolis, almost; not in real life at least, in Economicalopoly of course! More on that later, in our story the main character is Charlie. Charlie was an exceptionally talented young man, the key word being 'was'. He was an incredibly unmotivated individual who generally steered clear from other 'Homo sapiens' as he put it. This was all because of an accident he had early on in life, when he was but 15 years old.
