《The Divine Path》Chapter 13: The Art of Enchanting

Sora was currently walking towards the exit of the building where the order halls are located, he had just gotten his Knight class and needed to make some preparations before he heads to his next destination. The first thing Sora did was went to a stone tower with various elements leaping around it playfully located in the southern part of the city, the southern area was referred to as the Magic District due to it’s high amount of magic related buildings, shops, and NPCs. The center of town was referred to as the Shopping District, the north was the Entertainment District, the east was the Profession District, and the west was referred to as the Transport District. Sora came to the Magic District to buy a few materials to enchant some of his gear, he currently had a hardened and vicious essence within his inventory and there was no use saving them. Both essence are referred to as tier 1 enchantments, the hardened essence being a tier 1 defense enchantments and the vicious being a tier 1 attack enchantment. When a essence is referred to as layered, it is a tier 2 defense enchantment, fortified is a tier 3, and so on.
Sora walked into the stone tower, the first floor was for beginner level enchanters and he wasn’t allowed to go any higher. The tower didn’t have any attendant around but the entire tower had a protective barrier around it that didn’t allow anybody to steal items. If you try to leave the barrier without paying for an item then not only will you not succeed, you will also be suspended from entering the tower for a set period of time. Sora quickly walked past all of the scrolls that made up a majority of the items in the first floor before coming to a stop in front of what seemed to be a paint brush and a large stack of blank pieces of paper. Sora picked up a handful of paper and one of the brushes. When Sora had picked up the items floating numbers appeared in front of him. The numbers were color coded to show how much money you would have to pay for the items, in front of Sora was a silver number 13 and a copper number 50. Sora took out the money and let them sit loosely in his hand. The money started to float up and shot into a small opening in the wall that looked like a vent. Afterwards Sora simply walked out of the store with his items.

[x1 Essence Brush obtained]
There were many speculations as to what the tower was, some say it’s a tower that was just set up that way to interest the players, some say there is a reclusive enchanter that lives in the top of the tower, some say it may even be run by the goddesses to help the adventurers. In his past life nobody had ever truly given reliable evidence to their claims and it still remains a mystery to Sora. After he exited the tower he immediately found a restaurant to sit down at and pulled out an Enchantment Parcel, the Essence Brush, and the Hardened Essence.
The essence seemed to start moving around as he brought it closer to the brush, right when the brush and essence made contact the brush completely absorbed the essence, leaving nothing behind. The brush used to have a clear crystal handle but now the handle was glowing with a dim blue light. Sora pushed the brush gently onto the Enchantment Parcel, right as the brush made contact an outline of a complicated rune appeared on the paper. Enchanting worked by drawing the essence of an enchanted creature onto an Enchantment Parcel in the shape of a random rune, then when you place the parcel onto a piece of equipment the paper will dissolve, leaving the essence rune behind. The difficulty of the rune pattern is based on the tier of the essence and the level of the players enchanting skill. A higher difficulty rune will give you a harder rune shape and less time to complete the rune, once the outline of the rune disappears the essence will disperse and the enchantment will fail. The outline was still very bright when Sora finished drawing the rune.

[x1 Hardened Enchantment obtained]
In front of Sora was a complicated pattern that looked somewhat like a shield, it was glowing blue and would pulse every now and then. Sora took out his Vicious Essence and another piece of Enchantment Parcel, continuing to draw out another rune.
[Enchanting Skill succeeded]
[Enchanting Skill has leveled up]
[x1 Vicious Enchantment obtained]
Enchanting was fairly easy to level up due to the fact that the essence was something that had to be obtained by the player themselves. The essence itself was like a spirit and should only be brought out when you have a Enchanting Brush to capture it in. This makes trading essence impossible, many large guilds will complain about it on the forums when word gets around. Usually a guild will pour all of their resources into a single person for each skill, with enchanting being so beneficial the guilds were outraged when they found out trading essence wasn’t possible in Sora’s last life.
After Sora finished inscribing the runes, he unequipped his cloak and pressed the hardened rune onto it. The paper started to fuse into the cloak before dissolving, leaving a glowing blue shield pattern right in the middle of the moon pattern on his cloak.
[x1 Hardened Cloak of the Silver Moon obtained]

The enchantment brought Sora to a whopping 48 defense, at this point Sora could tank a couple hits if he needs to, his days of being a glass cannon are finally over. Sora then took out his Frost Iron Sword and looked at his Vicious Enchantment. Hesitation could be seen on his face when he looked back at the common sword in front of him, he could put the enchantment on his Ring of Good Fortune, but that would only give a small boost to his Strength. If Sora put the enchantment on a weapon not only will it add Strength, it will also boost his attack. Sora decided to put the enchantment away, he will only use it on the Frost Iron Sword if he can’t get a better weapon before it’s time for his next objective.
Sora checked the date and started calculating something in his head. In his past life Sora had luckily stumbled upon something that could be considered a huge secret. It was one of the first and few things he personally did that could be considered amazing. In his past life Sora had stumbled upon a secret cave located on a huge mountain inside of the demons territory, when he entered he found monsters at level 40 and as he continued further the levels kept rising, all the way up to level 50, all of which were elite insect monsters. Sora was still a new player at the time, only having barely reached level 25, and was mainly just exploring to see if he could find a treasure chest lying around since he was nowhere near a high enough level to fight the monsters. After a bit of exploring and a lot of sneaking around, he came into an enormous cavern. The cavern had hundreds, maybe even thousands of cocoons scattered around, in the center was a cocoon that reach all the way to the to the ceiling of the cavern, close to 15 meters from the ground. Above it’s head was a name badge that read Level 55 -Cocoon of Visux, The Ripper-. Sora attacked the cocoon thinking it wouldn’t be able to retaliate… and he was actually correct. Sora kept attacking, driven mad by the possible loot that would drop from the boss. After attacking for only 10 minutes and shaving off 3% of the bosses health he ended up aggroing a few enemies that were patrolling and died in one hit. At the time he gave up, not wanting to lose another 24 hours of gameplay waiting to respawn, but then a few days after he revived, the Eastern Legion had announced that there was a player event to fight against a demon general to reclaim territory for the kingdom. The event was an epic war between the players and a horde of level 50 Mantis creatures, Sora had taken part in the event at level 35 and only caught a glimpse of the boss before he died. His title read -Visux, The Ripper-.

Sora had a complicated expression on his face as he was thinking back to his days of being a new player. They were some of the funnest yet also most embarrassing days of his life, if he had simply attacked the cocoon and hid when the patrolling guards came through he could have single handedly taken down an event boss. Just thinking of it now made him want to go back and slap himself in the face. After Sora was done reminiscing about the past he finished calculating how many days he had left before he could return to the cave, he ended up with close to two weeks. He wasn’t sure when the boss would go into the cocoon and wasn’t sure when he would come out so he planned to enter the cave on the same day that he did in his past life, if he can reach level 35 within two weeks then he should be able to kill the boss after 3 hours of constant swinging, 4 hours if he wanted to avoid the patrolling guards. With the plan set he exited the restaurant and left the city.
…..
Deep in the Verinon Forest west of the city there were two girls who had just finished killing some goblins. One wielded a bluish greatsword and had red hair, the other wielded a dagger that looked like a wolf's fang in one hand, a bluish dagger in the other hand, and wore a white fox mask. They both started to loot as they talked.
“Hey LeeLee, do you ever wonder how mister fisherman has so much knowledge?”
“Hmmm, if you were to ask if I was curious then I would say yes I am… but I don’t want to pry anything out of mister fisherman.”
“True, he has already done so much for us, it would be rude to try and get information out of him, he might have a secret book that has information inside of it or something.”
“Maybe… let’s make sure we don’t let anyone know or he might be targeted.”
“Pfft, let’s just see who will mess with our poor defenseless fisherman while I’m around!”
“Hehe, big talk for someone who had to get saved by this ‘poor defenseless fisherman’.”
“Th-that… Hey wait you were saved by him too!”
The two girls continued to chat while massacring goblins left and right, their cheerfully laughter made the dark, gloomy forest a little brighter.
…..
Sora had picked an area close by to the swamp where he fought the undead villagers, he wanted to make full use of his [Purge With Silver] skill and decided it was best to find more undead to fight. Just past the swamp was an area that was barren of any trees, grass, or plants. The place seemed to be where a huge battle took place judging by the broken weapons and siege weapons that littered the area. There were undead soldiers here and there which ranged from level 20 all the way up to level 30 in some areas. Sora stuck to the area with level 20s for now, it would be a waste of time to fight higher level enemies, although they give more EXP they also take a lot more time to kill. Sora began his slaughter, every now and then a silver light could be seen flashing around the battlefield, every now and then you could see a serious looking young man taking a break and eating some roasted fish. Sora continued killing the undead soldiers for a whole week, sometimes moving to different areas. He had killed a couple more enchanted creatures, one being a -Hardened Undead Soldier- while the other was a -Quick Undead Veteran-. The quick enchantment would increase Agility to an item and if the item was boots it would grant a small movement speed bonus. Sora killed one final group of undead soldiers and finally hit level 30.
[Level up]
Sora had wanted to put a few stats in his constitution but since he was going to be hitting a cocoon for possibly 4 hours straight he decided to keep buffing his strength while throwing a few stats into Spirit for more mana. Sora had caught up to the undead soldiers in level and decided it was time to move on, he took one last look at his stats before leaving the battlefield.

The Loyal Ones [Dark Biopunk Fantasy]
TLDR; A slave monster survives horror, war and servitude, while trying to live with himself. Thralls are a race of monstrous slave soldiers, in a universe where biological magic takes the place of technology. Centuries ago, their ancestors were desperate humans, who volunteered to be transformed for the Poison War. Today their unfortunate descendants are still soldiers and laborers. In contract law they are 'corporate wards'; slaves owned largely by arms dealers. Dally Harper starts this story as a champion cage fighter. He is one of the 'lucky' ones. It's all downhill from there. Content Warning: Explicit violence and gore, slavery, implied sexual assault. None of these are framed as positive or glorified, however they do have a strong impact on the plot and main characters.

8 168Elder's Game
In a world set upon by an ancient threat, a new cycle of civilisation competes for power and resources. Amidst the games and politicking of Elder beings, the masses are unknowingly ensnared in plots and schemes that were centuries in the making. At the heart of the world’s workings lies the Tyreal Valley—a land that promises to fulfil the desires of those who seek it. As a haven for the truly strong, the path to this promise is paved more often than not in warfare and blood. To two young stragglers fighting for more than just their own fates, it is left as their only answer. But maybe that’s just what their enemies want. Magic system vaguely similar to GameLit ones (no system nor interface to help), with certain elements that are a bit more analogue. Politics, war, looming apocalypse, a tiny dash of kingdom building, and a minor bit of crafting. There is a bit of a progression element as well as both environmental and cultural exploration. The story follows two youths more directly influenced by aforementioned Elder beings than most. Neither lead cares for politics but certain situations force them into participating, forcing them to make decisions that shape their morality. Initially, the focus is on the male lead as he comes of age in an environment with little scope to change his future, only to be thrust into new circumstances that permanently kill some of his hopes. 3k words every chapter

The young man remembered. Through flames and ocean, he fought, all to be the symbol of hope. He started with a fist, then a gun, now a psychic blade. Some say the merging of his planet with this beautiful hell was a curse — that the Earth was doomed. As an optimist, he disagreed. They weren’t merged into a world with monsters and tyrants. The monsters were locked in the same world with a hero. What happened next was a tale as old as time. A sound of fighting was heard in the distance. He felt the presence of an old foe and several old burdens. It appeared Chronicler’s victory didn’t drill the lesson into that psychopath’s brain. Fine. He stood.
