-------------
While the fighting raged outside of the etilith shield as well as the angel Neriel trying to stop it, who seemed unaware of what the danger could be if it was indeed intended to implode. Avrin had dug several feet into the ground as it seemed as if it were melting downward. He intended to dig down and hide himself. He had thought of a theory. There was not one bit of mana in his body, therefore he had hoped they would not be able to detect him after everything was said and done.
At first glimpse he knew from the way they were fighting that he didn’t have a chance and figured they have some sort of ability to detect mana. So if he were able to hide himself underground and reseal the entrance of the hole it would be as if there was nothing there. But he had a couple of problems.
The first was that should the elves win, they do know that there is something inside of the prison that held him. So they would be suspicious. The second was that should the angel-like creatures win, he had no idea how smart they were or anything about them. It was truly a risk. Avrin continued at this pace as he was now nearly 2 meters into the ground as the dirt turned to clay, which seemed to turn into a different layer as there were some roots that were quite thick in the ground which he also had to go through.
Meanwhile Abbadon seemed to be taking the fight a bit more seriously as he stepped up his offensive against the two sylph leaders, but it also seemed Syrana was irritated at not being able to press forward. She was used to overpowering her opponents easily, but here in front of her was a being stronger than her who still seemed to take it easy on her. Myra on the other hand was more worried at Neriel’s progress and the gift granted to her by her goddess Lenaya.
Myra suddenly began to chant as she gathered mana into Moonwing. "Oh, goddess of life, godess of our people. Please grant your priestess some of your power in my time of need. Spreading wild, entangling roots, the ecliptic moon and its lover the sun." Moonwing began to emit an intense power as it began to emit its aura signifying that it was indeed a Celestial weapon. Although this caught Abbadon’s eye.

"That will be quite dangerous." He mumbled to himself before bringing back Twilight in a stance that showed he was about to use his own ability to interrupt Myra. "Thankfully it seems like me, you’re not taking this fight seriously. After all, many lives would be lost." He also knew he had to hold back for Neriel’s sake and he was not as careless as to bring the sylphs above into the fray as that would indeed anger the goddess Lenaya as well as make his own goddess think twice of him.
"Reverie Tempe-..." Before he had finished speaking, he was interrupted with a volley of elemental arrows from Syrana who showed a smug grin. She continued her merciless barrage as smoke began to build up from where Abbadon stood completely covering his location.
As the smoke passed a shield had revealed itself as it pulsed with magic. "Divine Shield" The power of his shield imbued with his powerful angelic powers as well as his sigil’s power was more than enough to stop Syrana’s attack. As he prepared to slash towards her a glow of energy reflected in his direction as he turned to face it.
He was greeted by a hero level skill known only by Myra. He would be lying if he said he had seen it before so he didn’t know what to expect. He kept his shield up as he intended to meet it dead on, having no choice considering that behind him was Neriel. If he moved Neriel would surely die.
"You damned fairy." He snickered. Myra had finished her spell thanking syrana in her mind for buying her time. It seemed Abbadon had stopped right before he attacked her friend as myra pointed Moonwing with the prepared spell towards him.
She spoke as he seemed to ready himself as Myra did so. "Lenaya’s Thorn" A beam of green light shot from the tip of Moonwing as thorns and mana like flowers had formed from the beam as it seemed to fire towards Abbadon’s shield.
He gasped as he knew his divine shield would not be able to handle a constant stream of magic. He had a better chance of attacking the beam itself. In a quick change of mind he lowered his shield forgetting that Syrana was still there.
He had made a mistake but in the meantime he gripped Twilight with both hands and held it in front of him as the thorn like beam collided with the edge of the blade, causing it to emit a white and green light as a screeching sound echoed throughout the now somewhat destroyed ruins.
Abbadon found himself pushed back slightly. He had felt annoyed he had to hold back significantly but decided it was ok in this case as long as he would do so to stop this attack. At that moment Syrana began firing arrows towards Abbadon. He had looked towards the shield wanting to see its progress. But luckily caught a glimpse of the attack as he held his right hand out casting a semi circular divine shield while still taking the attack of myras head on.

He was now facing a two pronged attack. "Gah!" He felt himself struggle with his limited power. "You sylphs … truly ... a..are strong together … your weapons may be a half power … but working like this … you can even match me when we are all holding back."
The percentages of powers being released were 60/60% for the sylphs while Abbadon was only using 30%, being a full sigil wielder it was more then enough to compete.
He then had an idea as he smirked to himself in a show of agile skill seeing Syrana take a slight break to find a better point to attack him. He jumped his power use up to 40% and deflected the beam towards the etilith shield 9 meters above Neriel as the beam collided with the shield as well as neriel’s distortion.
It was all it could handle before the dormant lightning bolts that had seemed to stop prior had now awakened and gone berserk as they shot out rapidly. One of the bolts hitting Syrana who was just about to land hitting her left thigh as she gasped in pain and fell down rolling around.
This made myra stop her stream for both the shield and her friend Syrana who she rushed to help. Abbadon gazed at the shield as he hit some stray bolts that came towards him. Neriel seemed somewhat safe as they didn’t shoot down near him.
"It’s too dangerous to continue." He rushed over to Neriel and grabbed him by his cloak and tugged him away while skillfully drawing a mini teleportation circle on the ground. He spoke as he gazed at the two sylphs who seemed to gaze back.
"I apologize concerning this situation but it seems this has gotten to dangerous. … Whether there is something in there or not I will be above to protect your city. I am not as blind as to realise this could be bad. I recommend you hurry and return too." Before either of the two could reply a phase of light engulfed both Neriel and Abbadon who vanished as the circle that had been drawn by the tip of Twilight was also gone.
The shield was now unstable as the radiant color turned red and black and lighting cut away in every direction. Myra had to cast her own gaian shield to stop stray beams. "Damn it, this situation ..." Myra called out angrily. Syrana slowly got up as she was emitting a small healing pulse at the burn mark left on her thigh. "Myra we need to go quickly. He might not be enough ..." She stood up and took her hand as she tried to lead her away but was met with resistance.
"And leave Avrin in there? It’s true he brought us to this situation but its also me who trapped him. He will surely not survive." Syrana sighed as she had little care for Avrin and didn’t want to argue.
As Syrana was larger and physically stronger, she lifted Myra up onto her shoulders and ran off as she screamed for her to drop her. Her concern for Avrin was brought only because it seemed like it was too late to save the etilith shield and the thought of it reminded her of him.
Meanwhile Abbadon had already begun chanting as the fairies began to cast their own magic to try and help while all the other residents were held away to hide in shelters. It seems the etilith shield’s power had caused a freak lightning storm with purple coloured clouds that fired red lightning bolts which seemed quite powerful.
"Holy goddess of light, mother of the celestials, heed my call for your servant has need of your powers. The protection that desires the shield that guards the heavens. Bulwark of Light!!" A powerful aura exploded around the ruins which also seemed to dig into the ground as if forming.
Avrin who had found a hidden tunnel that seemed to be another connection to the ruins had continued to run across it as he had changed his mind regarding filling in the hole due to his discovery here.
He used his augmented eyes to see in the pitch black darkness of the tunnel that didn’t seem to have anything in it. Only a steady stream of water and large roots. He panted heavily as he was not exhausted but sweating as he had also noticed the shield going crazy as he felt rumbling from the lightning bolts inside the ruins as well as the ones outside.
"What … an interesting situation. … Well, it could be worse." He smiled to himself as he tried to cheer himself up. He blinked as he saw a light emit from the floor and ground of the tunnel a yellowish light was seeping through forming a sort of shell as it was going upwards as if intending to connect.
He chuckled to himself "Oh, no you don’t."

System Supervillain
I was there when it happened. When the walls of reality came crashing down upon us. When everything changed. I was there. I watched it happen. There wasn’t anything I could do, of course. When two veritable demigods are fighting to the death, getting caught in between is a great way to end up very dead. Or worse. That’s when it happened. Raw time crashed with pure paradox, and the universe itself screamed in torment. Night turned to day turned to yesterday and tomorrow and blue and yellow and whale and petunia, and then it snapped back, all at once, with a thunderous roar that was not heard but felt. And then I saw the blue box for the first time. ------------ A System Apocalypse event happens in a world of superheroes, like you would see in the comic books. What happens when the world changes, and heroes and villains are now bound by a System that limits their powers? What will change, and what will remain the same? This story will incorporate Champions/HERO System 5th Edition rules. There will be dice rolls determining the action, and blue boxes with lots of crunchy numbers. If you're not down for that, there are plenty of other stories on this site that you'll like. But if that sounds fun to you, then welcome aboard, and I invite you to see what happens when someone becomes a System Supervillain.
