《The Daily Diary of a Mushroom》Chapter 10: ~Day 46-50~ Mushroom vs Poison

Author note: It's not a particularly long chapter this time, the reason it's late is just that I simply didn't have enough time to write it. So because of that I've decided that I'm going to release a chapter every Monday, it'll just make it easier and give me enough time to write it. This isn't as often as I wanted to release when I first started this story, but then again I didn't plan to write such long chapters at first.

Anyway sorry for the delay and I hope you enjoy!

~Day 46~

I woke up to find that Ellephwen was still not back, I didn't think she would be back already, but I do hope she comes back soon so we stop worrying about her, I know it's unnecessary as even with her injury she is still most likely many times stronger than me and Samora.

Samora said she was supposed to check on the village today, but she wont just in case Ellephwen comes back and was injured somehow on the way. Once again, it is probably quite unlikely such a thing happens.

I decided not to try to convince her to go, it will only be a few days at most until Ellephwen comes back and the village should be fine without her, besides her assistants Herred and Tomar know where she is if they need help.

Anyway, today I want to move down to the fourth floor of the dungeon, which means defeating the Fel Cissos, for that I stocked up on a lot of poison antidotes and resistance potions. From what I've been told and found out myself he should be physically weaker than the Cission Rexes, same with the Giant Cission Raptors guarding him, but they will probably also be a lot faster.

As I arrived at the dungeon, I realised that it's been quite a few days since I last the saw the Goblins, I wonder if they've moved on to somewhere better to train? I doubt they'll come back to this dungeon, so I might have to visit their village.

Oh well, I have something else I need to concentrate on for now. I continued walking to the Fel Cissoses boss room. The Cission Rex boss has been completely scrapped of resources now, a few guards stood by his room, quite clearly the second floor now belongs to the Tugglits thanks to me killing all the boss monsters. After greeting the Tugglits I carried on down the ramp to the third floor, after spending all this time with them I've concluded that even the weakest Tugglit has some level of sentience and intelligence, so it's only polite to greet them.

The Rexes were still looking after their young in the hunting grounds, so I arrived at the two giant Cission Raptor guards with no problems. Despite their size they should go down with relative ease, I just have to be careful no to hit by them, an evolved Raptors claws sound troublesome.

I pulled my weapon out and stood in a stance ready to charge, I want to save all of my mana for the fight, so I won't be using Mushroom Shield or Bubble, then again I haven't really used Bubble yet, it's a bit pointless for an aggressive fight as I can't really do damage with it. The only use I can see for it would be to protect allies during a retreat, but as I have no allies that fight with me it's almost pointless at the moment.

I took a small breath, tensed my muscles, then leaped at the closest Giant Raptor, Skullcrusher met with the side of her skull before she could relax, her vine-like skin crumbled and ripped apart as she fell sideways. A claw was thrust through my abdomen whilst I was still in the air, blood burst from the wound and my mouth. I turned my head to see the other Raptor had reacted quickly, the creature was even faster than the smaller Raptors, a speed out of place with her size.

Another claw came in to my view from the side, she was swinging at me with her other arm. I intercepted with Skullcrusher bringing it down on the incoming arm.

*Crack!*

The bone cracked and her arm went limp. She began to swing me around in anger and pain. After she swung me close to the wall I gripped on to the vines, I climbed down the wall and when I reached the bottom I dropped skullcrusher temporarily, I used one arm to grip on to the vines whilst using the other arm to pull the Raptors claw out.

A gaping hole was left in my chest, it began to heal quickly, of course. I leant down to pick up my weapon, but behind me I heard hissing, jumping backwards of the wall I could see the Raptors jaws snap closed where I was just standing half a second ago. I landed on the back of the Giant Raptor and sprinted towards her head swinging the mace head down to crush her skull.

*RAAARRR!*

The Giant Raptor fell to the ground as I jumped of her back. I managed to beat the two Giant Raptors without taking any serious damage, I also managed to gain a level.

Overall level has increased from [Level 18] to [Level 19]

[Polearm Novice lvl 7] has increased to [Polearm Novice lvl 8]

[Warriors Strength lvl 15] has increased to [Warriors Strength lvl 16]

Good. I turned around to face the entrance to the Fel Cissos room, he was standing almost in the middle staring at me. He wasn't moving, he was completely still, but he was definitely staring at me and I think he was grinning. It's hard to tell with his Raptor like face. Now that I'm closer I can make up more details, he had several valves jotting out on his back which were letting out poison gas, on top of that the gas was leaking out of his mouth and nose. It was also leaking out of his tail, he was an almost literal walking gas cloud.

I could see the room clearer now as well, there was a huge tunnel sloping downwards, a tunnel which clearly had less vines in than this floor. So the fourth floor won't have poisonous monsters in? I can't be certain, but it seems likely. I also noticed something else, the water in this room was tinted slightly green. Could it be poisonous water, is that how so many monsters on this floor got poison or venom properties? Hmm... That could be useful to me, if I can take the water home it could help improve my poison resistance. I was already going to improve my venom resistance, so adding poison shouldn't hurt too much... Well... it will hurt, but the pain should be worth it in the long run.

I took a deep breath and proceeded to drink a few Poison Resistance potions. Okay, let's do this. I sprinted forward towards the Cissos, but he just breathed in. What is he doing? Preparing to attack? Then, he breathed out. A huge cloud of poison sprayed out of his mouth, covering everything in front of his in a cone. I activated my Shield just as the poison was about to hit me, the poison spread around my shield.

The Cissos closed his mouth. I looked around the room, a thick green cloud covered every corner of the room, the Shield stopped the brunt of the gas, but obviously couldn't stop it all. I would have probably been fine with the Bubble, but I thought there was no point to using the Bubble, the reason being that even if I had used it, I would have had to deactivate it to fight the Fel Cissos anyway and the gas would have still been here.

I felt a stinging sensation all over my body, it felt as thought all the veins in my body were contorting and burning. I fell to one knee holding on to Skullcrusher. If it was this bad with the potions, my Poison Resistance skill and my Pain Resistance skill, then it must be beyond torture for a normal adventurer. Then again a normal adventurer wouldn't get this deep.

The Cissos stared at me, he didn't look like he was smirking anymore, instead he looked annoyed and confused that I was still alive. He leaped at me, I mustered up as much strength as I could and dived out of the way, but the claw of his foot gripped on to the potion bag I had around my waist wrenching it off my belt and smashing it to the floor.

"NO!" I yelled out reaching for it.

The Fell Cissos swooped his arm down slamming in to the side of me sending me flying. I hit the ground bouncing a few times before smashing the back of my head on a rock. I groaned. My head was bleeding, but that wasn't the worst of it, my health was ever so slowly being drained. I opened my now blurry eyes and noticed the potion bag on the floor, it had been completely crushed by the Fel Cissos and several different shades of liquid poured out of it.

So there's no way for me to cure myself, if I don't make it back to Samora, I'll die...

The Fell Cissos leaped to me bringing another claw down, I brought my Shield to my side to deflect it this time, since I had enough time to react.

I have a bigger problem than the poison right now, I don't think the Fel Cissos will let me leave easily. I picked myself up, pulled out my skinning knife and stabbed it in to my leg. Adrenaline rushed through me and my concentration returned to me. I used my Shield to block a few more attacks from the Cissos and jumped up on to his head. I tried to cave the top of his skull in, but two claws came from either side of me, so I jumped backwards on to his body. So he won't let me crush his skull. Well, I still have something else I can use. I walked over to one of the poison spewing valves on his back, and thrust the sharp end of Skullcrusher inside.

*RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGRRRH*!

The Fel Cissos begn writhing around, trying to scratch at me, but his claws couldn't reach me. Waves of concentrated poison gas assaulted my body and lungs. My vision blurred and my health dropped. I repeatedly thrust Skullcrusher inside the creatures valves. Then, his body fell... I was knocked off his falling body in my weakened state.

[Health: 521/1247]

Over half of my health had been knocked off, but I beat him, my eyes are stinging and my lungs burn. Now I jut have to make it back to Samora.

Overall level has increased from [Level 19] to [Level 22]

[Poison Resistance lvl 2] has increased to [Poison Resistance lvl 4]

[{Mushroom Helmet lvl 43}] has increased to [{Mushroom Helmet lvl 44}]

[Kingsfoot lvl 6] has increased to [Kingsfoot lvl 7]

[Warriors Heart lvl 26] has increased to [Warriors Heart lvl 27]

[Warriors Will lvl 19] has increased to [Warriors Will lvl 20]

I levelled three times from that fight, my poison resistance also levelled up twice. It was a useful fight, but it wont matter if I can't make it back home.

Woah.

Everything went black for a second.

I need to hurry...

...

I Reached the entrance to the dungeon. My consciousness is fading.

[Health: 282/1373]

My health is dropping fast, my Poison Resistance levelled again.

...

[Health: 33/1373]

Finally... Home... I fell on to the door, opening it. Samora was lying on her bed reading, I saw her drop her book as she saw me. I'm sure she can help me, dying at this point, before I even fight Lavias... How pointless my resurrection would be...

"Elli... Ar... yo....ay? ELLE....." I heard Samoras voice faintly as my vision turned to black.

~Day 47~

My vision returned to me... I'm not dead, which means Samora managed to save me...

There was a slight weight on the right side of my torso, I sat up to have a look. The weight slipped down as I sat up, it was Samora who was sitting in a chair sleeping on me. Did she stay up with me all night?

Her eyes were red and sore looking, she must have cried... Why did she cry? She must have known she could save me?

I didn't really want to wake her up, so I leant back down and tried to get a bit more sleep, I was still pretty tired anyway, almost dying can really take it out of you.

...

...

"ELLIE!"

I felt shaking.

"ELLIE WAKE UP!"

"Urrgh..." I groaned as I forced my eyes open.

Samora was standing over me shaking my body with eyes full of worry.

"Ellie... Are you.. Okay now?" She held on to my arm.

I smiled, she had already cured me, I'm fine now can she really not tell?

"I'm fine, thanks to you..." I smiled.

Samora gave a sigh of relief and sat back down in her chair, I sat up in bed. She turned and looked me in the eye.

"What happened, Ellie? Why didn't you use the antidote?" She asked, staring in to my eyes intently.

I took a deep breath and told Samora what happened.

...

Samora sighed. "You're not going back in there Ellie, it's too dangerous."

Of course I knew this would happen when she found out, but I have to go back. I need to fight against tougher opponents to level up enough it time for the battle with Lavias.

"It was only that floor that has poisonous monsters on, the water has strange poisonous properties. I only got this badly injured due to the poison, I'll be fine on the fourth floor." I argued.

Samora sat back and scrunched her brow, folding her arms. "Are you certain that the fourth floor has no poisonous monsters..?"

Well... No I don't... It's just a prediction... What can I do to ease her conscious and let me go... Ah! "I don't know for definite, but if the fourth floor does happen to have any poisonous monsters, I swear I will not go back until I max out Poison Resistance... Is that... Acceptable..?"

The beautiful Elf scratched her head with a "Uuuuh... Fine... Fine... BUT, the instant you see a poisonous monster, you leave,do you understand?"

I nodded my head.

Samora relaxed. "Good, now I'm very tired. So I'm going to bed, you should also rest for today. So don't go to the dungeon."

She walked over to her bed and crawled under the covers. I guess I'll go and do some armour maintenance if I have to stay here. I slept for quite a while already today so I'm not that tired. Ellephwen still doesn't appear to be back either... Me getting that injured whilst Samora was already worrying about Ellephwen... Not a good combination...

...

After I finished my armour maintenance I had one more thing I wanted to do... I took the venom sack out, pouring some in to a Moonwood bowl so it wouldn't melt through it. Then I took some water and poured that in, diluting the venom. If I'm going to improve my venom resistance, I'm not going to do it with the Venom Wolves concentrated acidic venom, I don't want to melt parts of my body off voluntarily.

I cut my hand with my skinning knife and placed it in the diluted venom. It stung, but it wasn't burning my skin off, it was doing a little bit of damage to the wound, but that was the plan. My self inflicted wound healed up. I repeated the process.

The plan was to repeat the process until I had results.

...

After a few hours, I had managed to gain a single level in Venom Resistance. I wasn't exactly planning to gain many levels, but just one is a little disappointing. I suppose next time I could dilute it a little less to increase the levelling speed.

I returned inside, it was about time for dinner. Samora was still sleeping... Hmm, I don't really want to wake her up, I'll have to make myself a quick something. As someone who lived on her own for quite a few years, I can make at least very basic meals, cooking was never my strong point though, no matter what I made it always tasted so bland. I would often just eat in the village pub.

I made myself a quick sandwich, then had an early night.

~Day 48~

Samora apologised many times for not making dinner last night, I told her I was fine as it was my fault she was so tired. I told her I was going to head to the fourth floor today, she looked troubled, but she had already promised to let me go, even it was reluctantly.

When I arrived at the second floor Rugtug was waiting for me by the entrance to the third floor, he seemed worried about me, apparently one of his sentries saw me stumbling towards the entrance, they came out to try and help me, but I was already gone. I told him what had happened. He sighed and told me he was just happy that I was alive, then, without missing a beat asked if he could use the Giant Raptors bones, as the bones of the Fel Cissos are also poisonous. Really? The bones are poisonous as well? What was with that monsters obsession with poison?

I don't really mind him having the Raptors, I don't need them, but I don't want him to risk any of his people in going down to the third floor, especially since the Rexes could start roaming the tunnels any day.

I decided to drag their bodies up to Rugtug on my way back from the fourth floor. I told him I would see him later and walked down the ramp to the third floor.

I arrived at the tunnel to the fourth floor without seeing any Rexes, when are the Rexes going to come back. Considering how longs it's been, maybe they spend most of the time in the hunting area, it is large enough for all of them to live comfortably.

Well, I'm not going to complain about that, I began to walk down the tunnel. It was just as I thought, the vines thinned out before reaching the fourth floor. However something else replaced the vines, light blue magic lights lined the walls. With my Night Vision I didn't need light, so it didn't bother me either way, but it did make the tunnel... Seem somewhat charming... I mean, if it could still be called a tunnel, it's so wide and tall now I don't know if it still qualifies as a tunnel.

The tunnel only headed in one direction from the third floor, it seems as though the floors get less and less complicated the further down they are, well that's on top of getting smaller, so I suppose the two would go hand in hand.

After walking for a while I did come across a branching path, I could either keep going forward, or go left. Since this floor should be smaller than the previous, it should only take today to explore, so which way I go isn't important.

I decided to keep heading forwards for now.

Ah, I seemed to have found the wolves of this floor... I.. I don't think it would be wise to attack them... After all, whilst I've never seen one in real life I have seen them in a book and heard about them when I was being told about how Ellephwen and Samora met. That's right, they're Iron Wolves... No doubt about it, grey glistening fur, about 16-20 ft tall and two thick tails.

Really, Iron Wolves? Straight after Venom Wolves... That seems like a bit of a leap... If Samora was defeated by Iron Wolves, how am I going to stand a chance against them?

...I think it would be best to leave them for now, I'll ask Samora when I get back whether it's a good idea or not to even attempt it. For now I'll go down the branching tunnel.

I explored down the second tunnel and it wasn't long before I discovered the second species of the fourth floor. Megalits... They're creatures very similar to the Mollits, a cousin species. Expect they're 25 35 ft tall. They're burrowing monsters just like the Mollits, but they have four arms and almost pitch black fur. They also have no eyes, as they never see any light, unlike Mollits who often live in the dark, but never pitch blackness. Well, this floor is filled with magic light, but it's not like that will make the Megalits suddenly grow eyes.

Megalits are also an extremely solitary monster, even more so than the Mollits, so there probably won't be too many of them, which means I shouldn't have to worry about fighting more than one at once.

Hmm, I could probably sneak past the giant monster, but I think it would be best to test if I can fight the Megalits and since this one is closest to the way out, he would be the best to test with.

I ran towards the Megalit, as soon as he noticed me he began to swing his arms, but I could easily dodge the swings, he's not that much faster than the Mollits and I've gotten even faster since then. So I can dodge him easily, but can I damage him back? I jumped on to one of his arms using it as a platform to get closer to the megalits head, twisting my whole body I swung Skullcrusher around directly in to his face. The Megalit stumbled and fell backwards, his face was bleeding, but mostly intact. So I can manage to knock him over, alright now all I need to do is to finish him. I leaped above the Megalit and brought my mace down on to his face again, the skull cracked and the Megalits limbs fell limp.

Alright, now I know I can take them out quite easily if they're on their own. With that knowledge in mind I carried on exploring the Megalits territory.

...

...

It didn't take too long to finish exploring the Megalits territory, it wasn't exactly large and throughout the whole day I only saw about 12 Megalits, no children either, only fully grown adults. Which is why I was surprised to find that they had three bosses... I mean every species that had a boss so far only had one boss, yet the species with the smallest population has three?

I mean it could just be that two of them aren't bosses, it could just be there were two unusual looking Megalits in large rooms on their own... They just all seemed very... Boss like I suppose. One was shorter at about 20 ft, but was covered in spikes, his fur seemed to have a bit of a blue tint to it as well. Another stood at a looming 45 ft, he was just sitting down against the wall, there were what looked like armour pads all over his body, his fur had a slight green tint. The final Megalit was about 38 - 40 ft, it was hard to tell, his fur was very thick and pitch black. His room also appeared to have no artificial light, in fact any light seeping in seemed to turn to pure darkness, even with my maxed out Night Vision I was having a bit of a hard time making him out. I'm calling him the Shadowlit for now, I'm trusting my instinct that says he's the strongest of the three.

Other than that there's not much more to say about the Megalits territory, they had a few streams of water dotted around and for food seemed to have a room filled with Grey Wolves... It was quite unusual to see a Grey Wolf being hunted down and eaten, it just doesn't suit the image of a Wolf.

So for today I've finished looking around the fourth floor, I still have the entirety of the Iron Wolves territory to explore, if I even end up doing so. I also have the three Megalit bosses to challenge, which should be interesting.

Of course I did manage to kill a few normal Megalits today, only three, but that still actually levelled me up once.

Overall level has increased from [Level 22] to [Level 23]

[{Mushroom Helmet lvl 44}] has increased to [{Mushroom Helmet lvl 45}]

[Warriors Strength lvl 16] has increased to [Warriors Strength lvl 17]

I walked back up to the Fell Cissos boss room, before I head home I had to drag the body to Rugtug first. Even before that I want to level up my poison resistance, so I brought an empty potion bottle with me to put the poison water in.

So after sealing the poison water and putting it in my general belt bag, I grabbed hold of the Fel Cissos bony leg. I tried to drag it, my muscles strained slightly, but I did manage to just about pull the creature...

After a rather exhausting hour, I managed to lump his body next to where the Rexes used to be. Rugtug's sentries that were there bowed to me and ran off to get Rugtug. I wasn't expecting it to take so long to drag the body, so I'm already late enough at is. I'll talk to Rugtug tomorrow.

...

I rushed home due to already being late, as soon as I walked through the door I saw a Dryad sitting at the table.

"Ellephwen, you're back!" I walked over to her and gave her a small hug. She seemed fine, she had no injuries and was smiling gently as usual.

Samora came over as well and sat down. "Are you going to tell us what happened now that Ellies back?"

Ellephwen nodded and sat back down, motioning for me to do the same. "Yes, I will. To put it simply, the Queen didn't want to fall behind the Hevenpar Empire..."

Both me and Samora gave Ellephwen quizzical glances. "Do you mean to say the Empire has more than one reincarnated person?" Samora asked.

"Correct, they have managed to acquire two reincarnated people. One has served as a general for around 40 years, the man is a brilliant tactician and warrior, the other is a 14 year old boy, who happens to gifted mage. She apologised to me, saying that even if they have to deal with Lavias in the short term, she still has to deal with the ever expanding Empire in the long term. So she wanted the 'Hero' Cyrus to get as strong as possible, as soon as possible." Ellephwen continued.

I see, I had heard great things about the Queen of Ashes, but it seems anyone can make a blunder sometimes. I'm guessing the current situation of her country doesn't help either, the stress of being the closest kingdom to King Lavias can't be small. To top it off a kingdom having more than one reincarnated person is unheard of, there are a few cases of it happening throughout history, but it often didn't bode well for the other Kingdoms surrounding it. Reincarnated people are a powerful weapon after all.

Ellephwen carried on "There's more. I learnt the current state of all known reincarnated people. One exists in the Demon Territory, she was born a Demon, which is quite rare in itself, she's 15 and is serving as her father General Ulzkar's top assassin. The final person we know of is part of the Explorers Guild on the Monster Continent, he is 26 and leads a well known party who have earned themselves their own estate thanks to their contributions to the guild."

Another two reincarnated people... Including me that's six... Six, that may not sound like much to an outsiders, but usually there are at most two or three reincarnated people alive at once, sometimes there are none at all...

"I can see you're both concerned. I intend to bring this up with the last member of the Council of Ents and a few other prominent monsters, but I believe this was the Great God's way of preparing for Laviases awakening..." Ellephwen told us with a serious face.

"If the God's knew Lavias was coming back couldn't they have warned us?" I asked with a scrunched brow.

Ellephwen shook her head. "Do you know how many God's there are? On top of the thirteen Great God's?"

I shook my head.

"There are hundreds... They may be God's, but when you get a few hundred beings together, there are bound to be conflicting interests... Some Gods may have tried to tell us, but were sabotaged by the less savoury ones." Ellephwen sighed and took a sip of tea.

So there's some level of conflict between the Gods... Could that be why I was reincarnated in to a Monster? Was it because a God wanted to reincarnate me, but another interfered? Or was it just a joke by a particularly nasty God...

I honestly don't know, but I do I know I wont have an answer until I'm told directly by whatever it is that gave me a second life...

After the discussion was over, we had dinner. It was too late for Samoras lessons, so we were going to go straight to bed. However I remembered something, the Iron Wolves.

"Iron Wolves? You met some Iron Wolves on the fourth floor?" Samora asked, her and Ellephwen looked at each other.

"Well... I don't think you have too much to worry about to be honest Ellie. Although it would be best to be cautious whilst fighting them, you can most likely beat even a pack of five." Samora answered.

HUH!? Wait that doesn't make sense. "But you lost to a group of them before Ellephwen save you, how could I stand a chance?"

Ellephwen and samora looked at each other with confused expressions, before both of the almost in unison seemed to realise something. Samora stifled a giggle. What, did I say something stupid?

"My dear Ellena, it was over 300 years ago that I found Samora, she has been living in that village for centuries..." Ellephwen answered me.

What... WHAT?!? I mean, I just assumed that Samora had only been living there a few decades... Why did I think that? is it just because both of her apprentices are young..? I suppose I never thought about the fact that they might not be her first apprentices. That would also explain why she appears to be so trusted by the Council of the Ents, she been a part of the Great Rurrian forest for hundreds of years...

So I guess that means I'm a lot stronger than Samora was a few hundred years ago...

*Sigh*

I can't believe I never thought of that possibility.

We all went to bed after that, Samora had a bit of a giggle fit. Which embarrassed me, but I can't really blame her. I can be thick in the oddest of ways.

Ellephwen seemed to fall asleep quickly due to finally being back in her own bed, Samora and I followed not too soon after.

~Day 49~

Ellephwen left in the morning to talk to the prominent members of the forest about what she has been told. It's a shame she couldn't stay at home longer since she just got back, but duty calls I guess.

My plan for today was to challenge the three boss Megalits, I could explore the Iron Wolves den now, but I do want to make sure I'm as strong as possible before doing so. I know Ellephwen and Samora assured me I would be okay; which is unusual considering their usual adversity to me going down there, but as I always say, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I left for the dungeon. Rugtug was waiting for me by the Raptors skeleton, he told me they had already started mining it and wanted to ask me whether I wanted any. I told him that I didn't particularly need any, but could he save me a little just in case I need any in the future. He promised to do so.

I reached the Megalits territory. I decided to head for the largest of the Megalit bosses first, I'm guessing he's defence focused since he's large with armour plates covering some parts of his body. So it will probably be the fight in which I have to exert the most strength. Come to think of it, there are three of them... Can I really fight all three in one day, they are all bosses as far as I know. So they'll probably be individually stronger than any monster I've faced so far.... Maybe I'll just fight two today... I'll see how the fight with the Armoured Megalit goes.

I arrived at his room, activated my shield and walked inside. The monster loomed over me. He must have smelt me or something as he brought down one of his fists to try to crush me, I dodged out of the way and a shockwave from his fist shook the room. Chunks of the ground broke apart. The Megalit threw another punch with one of his three other arms, I used the opportunity to jump up on to his arm to use as a stepping stone to his face. I can't be certain, but that is mostly likely his weakest body part. The fact that my head is my strongest body part should be ignored for most creatures, it would probably be the weakest part of my body if it weren't for my unique skill.

The Armoured Megalit swung his arm to knock me off, like swatting a bug. I leaped up to the Megalits face and put all my strength in to a single swing. Skullcrusher met with the giant monsters face, the impact threw me backward several feet, as I landed I slid along the ground. Looking up, I could see the Armoured Megalit hold on to his face with one arm, but he seemed mostly unfazed...

Still I definitely injured him... Which means I can kill him...Whilst he was distracted I sprinted around behind him and climbed up the shell-like armour on his back. I reached his head and twisted my body for another swing, I was once again knocked backwards by the impact, but this time the Megalit stumbled forward slightly as well.

*GRRRRRAH!*

The Armoured Megalit roared in anger whilst holding the back of his head. This guys defence must be ridiculous... This really is going to take a while.

...

"haaaa, haaaa, haaaa."

I've been attacking the gigantic beast for over an hour now and finally... Finally he falls, I finally killed him... This was my longest fight yet and I am exhausted... It was getting a bit dangerous near the end, I was getting tired from dodging all the time and he managed to hit me when I made a little mistake... He took about a quarter of my health off.

Still, the fight was at least less dangerous than the fight with the Fel Cissos, I also managed to gain a few levels from defeating him.

Overall level has increased from [Level 23] to [Level 25]

It would be a little dangerous to fight another one of the Megalit bosses today, especially if the others are as tough as the Armoured one, of course they probably won't have as much defence, but they may be strong in other ways. I'm especially worried about the Shadow Megalit, I have no idea how he'll fight. Megalits are slow attackers, but such a thing doesn't really seem to suit a monster that uses shadows to fight, after all shadows are often associated with assassins and assassins aren't usually slow. So does that mean the Shadow Megalit will be fast on top of having the body of a Megalit..? What a dangerous variant...

After resting for a few minutes I skinned the giant Megalit, my skinning leveled up, which makes sense, the Armoured Megalit was huge after all. Not just that, his hide was incredibly tough, it blunted my skinning knife. After burying the beast using a hole that he helped to start, I left for home.

On the way I of course saw Rugtug, when he saw the huge hide I was carrying he stopped me for a moment.

"Lizzen, lazz. Cud I usk tat yu giv uz a lil bit o' dat hiyd? Jus' a bit." He scratched the back of his head whilst asking me. (listen, lass. Could I ask that you give us a little bit of that hide? Just a bit.)

I looked at huge pile of hide I was dragging around... Well it's not like I need all this hide, I've still got quite a lot left at home, although this hide is a lot tougher than anything else I have, hence why I'm dragging it all the way from the fourth floor. Still, I don't really mind handing some over to the Tugglits.

I nodded my head and put the hide down, I did some quick measurements, then carved off about 1/5th of the massive hide. It may have only been a small chunk of the giant Megalit, but it was still quite a large amount.

I handed the hide over to Rugtug who struggled slightly under the weight.

"Tank ya lazz, I'l maak ya sumtin nize ta tank ya propli." Rugtug bowed his head lightly. (Thank you lass, I'll make you something nice to thank you properly)

I knelt down and smiled. "It's fine Rugtug, you really don't have to make me anything."

Rugtug shook his head." Na lazz, I inzist. Uve dun alut fur us sinz we mat ya, juz lemme mak ya a lil trinkut." (No lass, I insist. You've done alot for us since we met you, just let me make you a little trinket.)

Ugh. I really don't mind, it's not like I didn't benefit at all, after all thanks to Rugtug I already have my Skullcrusher. Hmm, I suppose if it's just a trinket that's fine. Would the trinket be jewellery? Come to think of it, since getting a proper body I haven't worn jewellery once, both Ellephwen and Samora are always wearing jewellery. I mean as a farmer I didn't exactly have much jewellery, but I had some for when I went to the village...

I'm actually kind of looking forward to it now, I hope it's a necklace...

...

I arrived home early, there was a lot of time until dinner, so I decided to try to level my Poison and Venom resistance until then. After preparing the Megalits hides of course. For the Venom I Followed the same process as before; only I diluted it a little less this time, then placed my cut hand in the water. The poison water was already water, it also didn't seem as strong as the poison of the Fell Cissos, so it should be fine on it's own.

After a few hours I gained a level in both skills.

It was time for dinner, obviously Ellephwen wouldn't be joining us tonight as she's gone to convene with the other prominent members of the forest. Optimistically she'll be back by tomorrow, but judging by what they're going to discuss it might take a little longer.

After dinner Samora finally got back to teaching me the Goblin Tongue, she said she didn't have to worry about Ellephwen as she was still in the forest. To be honest I would have thought the forest holding Lavias would cause more worry than a relatively friendly human kingdom, but I wont say anything and make her worry.

I've gotten to grips with very basic speech now, so I could probably explain the situation to the Goblins. At this point I wonder if it might have been easier for someone working under the Council of the Ents to come and tell them, but I don't really want to interrupt their important work right now, my problems probably seem trivial in comparison.

Anyway, today Samora wanted to teach more complicated words and phrases, just so I can have proper conversations with the Goblins. Now that I have a basic grasp of their speech patterns and words, it's a bit easier to learn new phrases. So I should be able to have proper conversations with them soon...

As I got into bed I looked over to Ellephwens empty bed, and sighed. It wont be too long until I leave, so I wish she would at least stay here until then. It's pretty selfish I know, but sometimes you can't help being selfish.

~Day 50~

Today's plan was still the same as yesterdays, to defeat the Megalit bosses, depending on how strong the Spiked Megalit is, I might be able to fight both today, but if he's anything compared to the Armoured Megalit I find that unlikely.

As I arrived at the end of the third floor I saw Rugtug overseeing the Fell Cissos mining, it seemed to be going quite well, he told me that the hide will come in handy, he's making clothes out of it for the more evolved of his Tugglits. He also told me that he's started making the trinket and it will be ready in about 4 days.

I'm looking more and more forward to it.

As I was walking to the Fel Cissos boss room, I saw something new... The Cisson Rexes have finally started to come out of the hunting room, well I say that, there's only one out here so he may be the only one. Still, this could mean that I'll have to fight multiple Rexes at once. I felt a grin spread across my face, fighting a few of those Rexes at once? that sounds exciting... I'm going to dodge fighting this guy for now, as I want to be at full strength for the Megalits, but if enough come out that I can't dodge around them all... Well let's just say I wont be disappointed...

I quickly made my way to the Spiked Megalits room, I killed a few normal Megalits on the way as usual and managed to gain another level. I walked in to the Spiked Megalits room, he was sitting in the corner eating a grey Wolfs leg, the leg seemed to have one of his spikes embedded in it... So does that mean he can use his spikes as weapons? Well that might make things a little more difficult. I activated my shield and cautiously walked in. the Megalit sniffed the air turning his head to face me. He stood up and hunched over.

*Fwoo, fwoo!*

His spikes flew out of his flesh towards me. I lifted my shield up. What? They're projectile?! That's... Interesting...

One of the spikes flew under my shield and pierced my shin. I winced from the pain, but it wasn't enough to distract me. I quickly sprinted towards the Megalit slamming my shield in to him, I leaped up past the shield to smash Skullcrusher down on to his head.

*Fwoo fwoo fwoo!*

Spikes flew out of his body at every angle, my body was pierced by about 10 spikes and I was thrust backwards.

"UGH!" I grunted in pain.

So he could use them in quick succession? I pulled my Shield back to protect me whilst I pulled the spikes out. How am I going to go about this? That took off about 1/6th of my health... So I could probably take a few hits.

hmm... I know what to do. I ran forward with the Shield in front of me, the Megalit let out a few bursts of spikes. I tried my best to shield myself, but a few made it past hitting my legs. I still kept up my pace, slamming the shield in to him again, he roared at as he was pushed pack against the wall. I kept charging and lowered my head, just before I reached him I took my shield away, headbutting him straight in the stomach. The wall behind him shook as dozens of vein-like cracks formed behind him.

*GRAAH!*

The Spiked Megalit seemed unsteady. good, this is what I wanted, using the opportunity I climbed his body using the spikes jutting out of it, when I reached his head I thrust the sharp end of Skullcrusher in to his roaring mouth. It passed straight through the skin at the back and out the back of his head.

*kaaakk. kaka*

The Megalit let out unusual sounds from his throat as blood dribbled down the handle of my weapon....

For a few second nothing happened, then his huge body fell to the floor. I noticed that I was smiling again, it was an interesting battle. I believe my first battle against real projectiles, if I don't count the gas of the Fel Cissos. It was an educational and enjoyable experience.

Overall level has increased from [Level 26] to [Level 28]

[{Mushroom Helmet lvl 46}] has increased to [{Mushroom Helmet lvl 47}]

[Unarmed Combat Expert lvl 2] has increased to [Unarmed Combat Expert lvl 3]

[Warriors Heart lvl 28] has increased to [Warriors Heart lvl 29]

[Warriors Strength lvl 18] has increased to [Warriors Strength lvl 19]

[Intermediate Regeneration lvl 9] has increased to [Intermediate Regeneration lvl 10]

Excellent, my Regeneration is nearly ready to evolve again, it can already regenerate some pretty bad wounds in a few minutes, so I can't wait to see what happens when it evolves.

I have no interest in his hide, it's appears to be no different to the normal Megalit hide, so I'll just bury him whole. I will take a few spikes though. They could make interesting weapons or something.

After burying the giant, I picked up a few spikes and headed home, I may have extremely fast regeneration, but it's a fact that using it tires me out, so I'm in no state to challenge the Shadow Megalit, that will have to wait until tomorrow.

On my way home, I gave one of the spikes to Rugtug, he didn't ask for it, I just thought it could prove useful as weapon material or something. He thanked me for it anyway.

...

When I arrived home I placed the spikes with the rest of my materials, to be honest, it's becoming a bit of a cluttered mess, but since I'm going to be leaving soon I don't see much point in cleaning it up... Although, maybe they'll keep it all here? I mean, I should only be gone for about a year and I can't take any of this with me, I can't carry a mass of hide whilst I'm travelling....

I'm sure it will be fine, but I'll ask Ellephwen just in case. I went back around the front of the house and entered inside.

Oh... It seems that Ellephwen still isn't back... I did think something like this might happen, but I guess the meeting will take a while longer, that also means some big decisions are being made, so I'm guessing Ellephwens probably going to be busy for a while... Which is.. A little upsetting.

Since I arrived at a similar time to yesterday, I decided I would do the same thing, try to level up my Poison Resistance and Venom Resistance. After greeting Samora I went back outside and set it all up.

...

Unfortunately after a few hours only my Poison Resistance levelled up, I think I might have to increase the ratio of venom, it is getting to the point where the venom barely stings. Which at least means this method is working...

Me and Samora finished the day of as usual, dinner then Samoras lessons in the Goblin Tongue. Samora's cooking has been improving significantly, whilst still not on the level of Ellephwen, she's definitely getting close.

Anyway, for Samoras lessons today, we just carried on with what we were doing yesterday. Complicated phrases and words. Samora is a pretty good teacher, I think I might actually get fluent before I leave.

With the day over we went to bed... Tomorrow I will challenge the last of the Megalits and then dive in to the Iron Wolves territory. I felt anxious and excited not just about the Shadow Megalit, but about the Iron Wolves as well, I wonder what their pack leader will be like?

I can't wait to find out.
