《The Daily Diary of a Mushroom》Chapter 3: ~Day 11 - 15 ~ A Mushroom starts her training

~Day 11~
Today, I woke up feeling great, not emotionally of course, but physically. My parents may have only been my parents for a week, but it will still take me a lot more than a few days to get over their death.
Anyway despite the fact that I was all better Ellephwen was adamant that I stay in bed for one more day, It's been decided that she would be my parent for now or "Kin" as she puts it so I should probably listen to her, besides she seems wise.
So, because of that she has decided to answer any questions I had as I was too tired and weak to have a real conversation with her yersterday, well if an outsider looked at our "conversation" they would see her talking to a giant mushroom, they would probably think she's gone senile...
*Slap*
...Ouch.
I forgot that she could read my mind...
Wait... If that upset her then... I think I have my first question, Ellephwen?
"Hmm?"
How old are you?
*Slap*
One again, ouch...
Still despite the pain this is kind of amusing.
"Ellena, as a fellow woman you should know that question is taboo."
Is it really? Even when I was human I was never bothered by my age. Then again I never got past 19 so who could say how I would feel as I got older?
I suppose Ellephwens age isn't really important, I was just curious that's all...
Ellephwens face softened and her usual smile was back.
"That's better, now do you have any actual questions?" She asked, of course being able to read my mind she could easily know all my questions. Probably due to the desire of a real conversation she seemed to be filtering out my deeper thoughts so she could only hear my questions, well she seemed to be able to hear some of my other thoughts as well.
Hmm, but what should I start with? I suppose first would be more on the idea that I'm a "natural born warrior", if I'm some sort of warrior, why am I such a coward?
Ellephwen stifled a laugh. Did I say something funny?
"Ellena, you are a child, your mind is that of a human adult but you at this moment, are a child. Besides how many children do you think would be able to jump in against two powerful opponents to protect their parents?"
I... Suppose you have a point. Even then, when I was a human I abandoned my father to die in that fire, I was terrified.
"Your father wanted you to live, if you ran back in then both of you would have died. Do not blame yourself for your fathers death, if he risked his life for you that was his choice."
I frowned. Of course I knew that, my father was kind, he wouldn't want me to feel any guilt, but even now guilt still lingers in me. Ugh, Ellephwens looks a little annoyed. I should probably lighten up my questions a little...
There's another major question I want to ask... Where are we?
Ellephwen didn't look surprised, of course it's a question that would be asked by someone who's in a new land.
"Ah yes, my home is in the middle of The Great Rurrian Forest on the thinnest part of the Central Continent."
*Pheww* I breathed a sigh of relief, everyone had heard of the Great Forest, after all it spanned around 1/5 of the Central Continent, which is the largest mortal landmass in the known world. What's more she said that this home was in the thinnest part of the Central Continent which luckily enough was just north of the island I was born on. Well, there were several other islands before mine and even then it would probably take at least two weeks of solid travel to reach the southern coast of the Central Continent from the forest. Still, this means that I can visit my old village... Although I should probably evolve to be able to talk first. Ah, I should really thank whoever reincarnated me for not putting me in some unknown land.

Ellephwen seemed to notice my joy, "Ah, so we must be near your home then? Where were you from?"
Ah, it's a small village in the Southern Islands, on one of the Lesser Islands called Sutherfell Island. I replied cheerfully, but...
"Eh?" Her eyes widened in surprise.
What? What is it? I hadn't seen her this flustered before, so this was quite worrying.
"...Child, what was the common year of your death?"
Eh? I died at the end of 755cy (common year), why?
Ellephwen looked shocked, but calmed down quickly. Then a sympathetic look appeared on her face.
"Ellena, the current common year is 996cy, over 200 years have passed since your death..."
Eh?
...
...
After that, several hours passed, Ellephwen spent the time giving me a brief explanation of what has happened in the last 200 years.
First off I should explain a few things, some things that even I, a normal village girl knew. To the east, south and west of the Southern Islands where I was born was the Demons territory. To the north of the Islands was the mortals territory. Most of the time Demons and mortals stay in their own territories, whilst neither party were particularly fond of the other they weren't outright hostile. However it seems that whilst I was alive a Demon civil war was brewing.
One of the most powerful Demon Lords had become dissatisfied with the Demon Kings peace with mortals. So 7 years after my death he had managed to gather 8 of the 15 Demon Lords at the time to his side and declared war on the Demon King. In the middle of the two opposing sides was a small part of the mortals territory, the Southern Islands. The Demon King warned the rulers and nobles of the Southern Islands that they would most likely be caught in the middle. However since most of the Kings and Queens of the Southern Islands were human, they foolishly ignored his warnings. When the conflict reached the Islands the rulers panicked, trying to evacuate themselves and their people. Some rulers chose to stay behind to save as many of their people as possible, some other more selfish rulers just saved themselves. The end result? Less than 10% of the mortals managed to reach the Central Continent alive. A few mortals hid on the islands and stayed alive on their own and the Demon Kings faction also managed to save a few and keep them under his protection.
However the Demon King was losing the war, he had lost two of his 7 loyal Demon Lords whilst the other faction had only lost one. The rebels faction had almost complete control of the Southern Islands, so the Demon King had to use his last resort. It was a difficult decision as he felt sympathetic for the humans, but he was the ruler of the Demons and had to think of those under his rule first. So he released his most powerful trump card, the God Attribute Monster [The Kraken].
The Kings plan was to drown as many of the rebel Demon Lords and generals as possible by using one of The Krakens most destructive skills [Apocalyptic Tsunami lvl 10], a evolved form of the already terrifying Tsunami skill. He ordered his pet to use the skill on the Southern Islands, some of the mortals under his care tried to stop him, but the wiser among them down as they understood that the Demon King had no other choice.
The Southern Islands were devastated, almost every demon on them perished, along with most of the mortal survivors.

The Tsunami carried on to the Eastern Demons territory where the rebel faction was based, the leader of the traitorous Demon Lords and the other survivors tried their best to halt the wave, but only just barely managed to weaken it destroying a huge portion of the Eastern Demon territory. Many innocent citizens died, but the Demon King had won, he easily arrested the devastated leader of the traitors and the other two surviving Lords, putting them in the Demons greatest prison hundreds of feet below the surface of the planet.
All his subordinates and most of the citizens knew he did what he had to do, they all loved and respected him, but the price of what he had done weighed heavily on his mind, stepping down as the Demon King he left his only child, who was only a 9 year girl at the time, as his heir. In the mean time the Lord he trusted the most would look after his kingdom whilst he disappeared. No one quite knew where he left to, some believe he locked himself in the same terrifying prison as the traitors, some say he disguised himself and protected his people as a travelling warrior. In any case the war lasted 53 years and his daughter acquired the throne when she reached the Demon age of adulthood 100 years old, those are two of the most major parts of history in the past 200 years.
Currently the old Kings daughter still sits upon the Demons Throne, keeping her fathers peace with the mortals, rumour is, she doesn't even know whether her father is still alive...
So that happened... Even if there was no war 200 years have passed, I knew Elves and Dwarves that live a lot longer than Humans, but the chances were that there was no one I used to know still alive today...
Ellephwen seemed to be studying my reaction.
"Do you hate the Demon King?" She asked.
Hmm? Hate... Do I hate him? I didn't really think about that... I've never met him, but if I had to say whether I hated him for what he did or not? I would have to say no, from your story he seemed like a good man who did what had to be done. If he didn't do it then the rebel faction would have won. The new Demon King would probably declare war on the mortals and the hit to our population would have been even worse.
Ellephwen seemed relieved.
"Good, as expected of my Kin. I had met the Demon King in the past, he was just as kind to mortals and monsters as he was to his Demons. Truly the one to blame is the warmongering Lord who betrayed him."
I noticed this earlier, but whenever she talked about the traitor she seemed to almost spit out her words. It's not like I can blame her, thanks to that man many of my friends and loved ones died before their time. If I ever found this great prison I think I would like a little revenge.
Ellephwen stood up and walked to the over side of her home, she opened a small plain chest and pulled out two large pieces of cloth. She brought them over and rolled the first out in front of me. It was a map dated to the year 750cy, 5 years before my death. It had all the known world from when I was a Human.
(Author note: Sorry about the horrible quality of the maps, I might try to do more detailed versions at a later date)
"I have a map of every decade for the past 500 years. This is the most accurate to when you were a Human. Although it mostly just shows the central continent and some of the Demon territory." She explained.
"And this is the most recent map." She rolled out the other map in front of me.
My body jolted in shock, the map had an entire new continent on it, or atleast part of one, it appeared to be larger than the central Continent. More importantly than that were the Southern Islands. They weren't there, at least the name wasn't on the map. Instead were a huge number of tiny islands called The Dead Isles.
"I probably can't understand what you are feeling, but I am sorry" She said apologetically.
It's fine, really. As soon as I heard how many years had passed, I realised that all the Humans I knew would be dead, but I thought at least the village we all knew as our home would still be there...
"There is a possibility it is, there were some survivors and even now all sorts of races are trying to rebuild there, even after all this time. Not all the land was swallowed up by the Tsunami."
...I stared at the spot where my Island once stood, certainly a few small land masses were there.
"I will not stop you if you want to search for your village one day, the choice is entirely up to you."
I nodded slowly, one day, when I can actually talk I want to find whatever remains of my old village.
She gently stroked my head nodding softly.
After that she spent the rest of the day giving me a small explanation of all the current kingdoms. She also explained to me what the new huge land mass was, apparently during the great Tsunami the shock wave of the water hit most of the known world, sending one large ship far away inadvertently discovering a new continent. Oddly enough there were no natives, however the monsters on this new Continent were both abundant in number and powerful. Meaning that exploration was slow and not many kingdoms were established there due to the difficulty and high fatality rate. This gave the continent the name of The Monster Continent.
Whilst she was explaining this we took many breaks, for food and so Ellephwen could rest for a while. By the time she was finished it was already night and I was already tired.
My eyelids were growing heavy, Ellephwen must have noticed.
"It is time to sleep Ellena. Tomorrow, you should start your training."
Training, huh? To be honest I wasn't particularly looking forward to it, but I knew it had to be done to accomplish my goals. So I closed my eyes and tried to get some sleep.
~Day 12~
Today is the first day of my personal training. Ellephwen has told me to come back mid afternoon, as there was still a lot she had to teach me. So it was decided that the morning would be training and the afternoon would be education. To be honest, I could probably go out at night as well as I have [Night Vision lvl 2] which would be good to level, but Ellephwen told me that since I was a child the chance that I would make a mistake due to tiredness and fatigue was too great.
She gave me lunch which she packed in a magic self opening bag which appeared when I thought about it. Quite convenient, but apparently quite annoying to create according to her. I think she was implying that I need to evolve to have arms quicker.
Pointing me to the west of her home, she told me that in that direction there was the territory of the Forest Frogs and if I stick to the outskirts there should only be lesser Frogs. Being as weak as I am they're one of the few races I have a chance at beating for now.
After walking for about an hour I spotted my first opponent, he was squatting next to a tree about 30 ft away from me catching bugs for food. To be honest he was rather large for a Lesser Frog and seemed to have a scar across his left eye, seriously? He must be close to evolving judging by how strong he looks...
I wonder if I should really make this guy my first opponent?
No! I need to stop being a coward! If I run from every fight I wont ever evolve. So how do I go about this?
...Mushroom helmet? It worked before, besides I don't have arms to punch with and my legs are too short to kick so my only weapon is my head...
...
Ok, ok I've got this, I've got this.
Aiming my head at the Frog I hesitantly charged forward.
*thud*
I hit him surprisingly hard and he flew away smacking against a tree. I actually hit him!? Was because he was off guard? Hmm, that gives me mixed feeling. His body twitched. He wasn't dead, as he was slowly trying to get back up I went for a second charge.
*SLAM!*
I wedged him between my hard head and the tree, after a few seconds his body stopped moving.
Overall level has increased from [Level 24] to [level 26]
[Skill [Swiftfoot lvl 1] Gained]
I breathed a sigh of relieve. That... Wasn't so bad, is this what she meant by natural warrior? No, I shouldn't get cocky I was just lucky this time.
Still this was my first intentional kill, the feeling was... Oddly pleasant, an accomplishment. It was also strangely exhilarating, despite the battle lasting a matter of seconds it felt like triple that, as if time slowed down, is that due to {Unarmed Combat Novice lvl 1]?
However there was something else I can't ignore, a new skill? [Swiftfoot lvl 1]. Hmm, it's very clearly related to running speed and stamina no matter how you at it, but how did I suddenly get something so useful?
Oh! It must have been all that running I did the day of that incident, so if I somehow managed to run for a little while longer I would have gained it then? It's no use thinking about it now.
There was also the matter of my level jumping twice, as expected it's not as massive as when I accidentally killed a Human, but it's still two levels at once. The reason of course is because of how weak I am as a Mushling, I do not require much to level up. So at this rate it will only be a matter of days until I evolve in to an adult.
Yes, I can do this. I can fight and I can evolve!
So, with a renewed resolve I spent the rest of the morning training, carefully picking opponents that were well in my range. I did have an encounter with a Lesser Poison Frog at one point which are a lot stronger than a normal Forest Frog. So I ran away, thanks to my new skill I got away without any real damage. What? It would be stupid to attack a clearly superior opponent at this point.
After fighting and killing 9 Lesser Forest Frogs and 2 Spitting Tree Snails, I was pretty worn out and had taken a bit of damage from the Tree Snails spit. It was slightly acidic after all, which was a bit of a surprise. Luckily though the spit hit the top of my head, so it didn't take off too much of my health, but it was quite painful. I'm surprised my Pain Resistance didn't level up.
Also my Overall level has increased to [level 38], it seems that the first Frog I fought was quite strong compared to the others as most of them didn't level me up twice. I wonder what would have happened if I didn't surprise attack him. I would probably have lost. Anyway after eating the lunch Ellephwen made for me I headed home.
Today Ellephwen decided to explain the situation with the Monster Continent to me in more detail. So I learnt details on the various kingdoms there and how they manage to survive. For instance one kingdom was comprised almost purely of Beastkin, as most Beastkin are naturally stronger than the majority of the other mortal races, they had an easier time. It's not like the other mortal races weren't allowed in the Kingdom, they just weren't allowed to have any authoritative position. Another Kingdom comprised mostly of Humans just built really tall and thick walls. That Kingdom ended up quite small as the wall was very expensive. The Demon Queen also acquired some land on the Monster Continent after negotiation with the mortal kingdoms.
There was also a united Continent Council with a royal representative from each Kingdom there to decide the matters of the Monster Continent, this included exploration. Apparently they pay anyone who brings them any new information regarding the continent a large sum and set up a new guild called the Explorers Guild. So many strong adventurers and would be heroes would explore the continent and fight against powerful monsters, giving them both a high income and a way to level faster than most other places places.
In conclusion, it would be a nice place to visit if I ever get strong enough.
Anyway after that long day, I went to bed exhausted. By the way now that I'd recovered Ellephwen kicked me out of her bed and made me my own, it's not like I was mad at her for that, she made my new bed with the same skill and care that her own was made with.
To be honest it made me pretty happy to have something to call my own again.
~Day 13~
The morning was spent with more training.
This time I managed to bag myself 14 kills, 11 Lesser Forest Frogs and 3 Spitting Tree Snails. I saw another Lesser Poison Frog, but decided to run away again, especially since I'm pretty sure it was the same one, he looked pretty p*ssed after all.
My level increased to [level 49], so I'm practically halfway to evolving. I also levelled two of my skills.
[{Mushroom Helmet lvl 3}] grew to [{Mushroom Helmet lvl 4}].
[Unarmed Combat Novice lvl 1] grew to [Unarmed Combat Novice lvl 3].
I thought that their growth was abnormal, then again I didn't know that much about skills, so maybe this is normal? I decided to ask Ellephwen to explain to me more about skills.
So when I got home, I asked Ellephwen if she could teach me about skills. She thought for a moment and quickly replied with a yes. She told me that it was important to understand more about skills, especially my own.
She started by telling me what skills are, to be honest even I knew the basics, but she explained in more detail. Skills are essentially gifts, they are given to us mostly due to our own hard work or talent. For instance my Unarmed Combat skill is just due to my apparent natural inborn ability to fight, so whilst I I definitely get a fighting boost from the skill, I wouldn't have it if it weren't for the inborn talent I already have. Speaking of my Unarmed Combat Skill Novice, Ellephwen explained to me why it levelled so fast, the reason is the Novice part of it. That means it's an evolution type skill, there are several kinds but this one evolves when it reaches level 10 turning into Journeyman. It can then evolve to Experienced and then finally Master. So because it has more levels it increases faster.
Anyway there was another type of skill that Ellephwen wanted to explain to me after I told her about my Mushroom Helmet skill, that is a Unique skill. A unique skill can be unique for multiple reason, it could be a gift from a particularly powerful being, or from an actual God. Or it could just be due to the owner of the skills actions. She believed mine was a gift from whatever being reincarnated me. She also told me that the reason that unique skills level faster was a similar reason as evolution type skills, they can level up to level 100 instead of 10 which is the limit of most skills, meaning they level a bit quicker.
Of course being a unique skill she had no idea what it's actual effects were, but she guessed that it improved my all around defence to a point much higher than it would usually be and is heavily concentrated on the top of my head specifically, possibly doubling my heads defence compared to the rest of my body.
She answered what I wanted to know, all my other skills were pretty self explanatory so I didn't really need an explanation for them.
So after that we ate dinner, by the way as a Mushman I can only eat moss, it's weird but all other food is currently poisonous for me. So to change things up a bit Ellephwen has been cooking the moss in many different ways. This time she smoked it over an open flame. It was delicious.
So, as another day ended a thought popped in to my head, I don't feel sad anymore. In fact you could say I'm enjoying myself, enjoying the fighting.
It's been less than a week since that traumatic experience, it's not like I've forgotten it or gotten over it, but should I already be moving past it?
Yes, perhaps this fighting is making me a stronger person, but I feel as though I should stay positive, wallowing in self pity and sadness would only make my loved ones feel bad. Besides It's not like I'm alone, in fact I haven't been alone since I was reborn. I suppose I should count myself lucky really...
Looking over at Ellephwen, I smiled as I drifted off to sleep.
~Day 14~
In the middle of training today, something strange happened. I got new skills, although they didn't seem like normal ones.
[Dormant skill [Warriors Heart lvl 3] has awakened]
[Dormant skill [Warriors Will lvl 2] has awakened]
...Dormant skill? What is this? I haven't heard of these before?!
Should I go home and ask Ellephwen about them?
I think I should, I've gotten used to training and even if I miss one day out it's not like it will take too long to evolve.
So after having only levelled up to [Level 54] I headed back home early.
"You're back early, is something wrong" Ellephwen put down the book she was reading and walked over with a concerned look on her face.
I looked up at her. Do I look like I'm in pain or anything? She's a bit of a worrier isn't she?
What is a dormant skill?
Her face lit up in surprise. "Dormant skill? Child, you have a dormant skill?"
I furrowed by brow, was this very rare? Does that mean It's weird I have two?
"Two?! It's rare enough to have one!" She exclaimed excitedly.
Really? They're that rare?!?
"Yes! Not quite as rare as unique skills, but dormant skills are still extremely rare."
Really... Why do I have something do impressive? What exactly are they then?
Ellephwen ushered me to sit down. So waddling over to the chair she was pointing at I jumped up on it. It was a little uncomfortable for someone small and oddly shaped like me, but it's better than standing I suppose.
"Dormant skills are exactly as they sound, skills that lie dormant within you. They are different to normal skills which anyone can earn through specific training in that skills field. They are skills in the field that the being in question has a large affinity towards but are not born with. They have to be earned like other skills, but they are earned a lot easier and are a lot more powerful than other skills of the same type. They also have more levels and level up slightly faster." She said, unloading a huge amount of information on me.
Wow. So I guess that whole thing about me being a natural born warrior were true then? After all they're both Warrior related.
Ellephwen looked me in the eye intently. "What are the skills you awakened?"
So I told her my new skills. She furrowed her brow, it seems she didn't quite know what they did. Rooting around in one of her many chests for a while she came back whilst reading a large, thick book that seemed to be part of an album. The album appeared to be a very, very rare book on all known skills. Seriously, how does she have all this stuff?
Apparently the two skills were very useful for battle and quite rare and powerful for their type. [Warriors Heart lvl 3] increased my general battle prowess, increasing all of my stats across the board. Having it also apparently means I'm an honourable person, so it gives me a aura that makes people trust and rely on me and makes enemies fear me. I can't say it's not useful, I mean it's very useful. Good people with trust me with more ease and enemies will fear me making them liable to panic and make a mistake.
The other skill [Warriors Will lvl 2] is quite similar to Warriors Heart. It helps me stay calm and make rational decisions at even the most stressful times. I will gain resistances to fear and will also develop a strong mind and will.
So... Basically I can't get scared any more? Isn't that a ridiculously useful skill? With both of these skills combined, won't the speed of my levelling increase even more?
Looking up I could see even Ellephwen was also shocked, but she recovered quickly and began to smile.
"I said you were a warrior, I said you were meant for great things. Do you believe me now?"
I can't deny that the evidence is strong, that doesn't mean I understand it, I'm a farmers daughter after all, it's quite odd that I have such powerful skills. Then there's the business with the fact that I'm an honourable person, I did sneak attack a Lesser Frog a few days ago, is that something an honourable person would do? I did feel bad about it, but I had no other choice. I suppose a lot of the villagers said I had a strong sense of justice, like that time I tried to chase a thief who came from another village. Or when I stopped one of the village kids bullying the smaller children...
It won't do to think about it too much, it's not like being called an honourable person upsets me or anything, it actually makes me quite proud of myself.
Unfortunately, Ellephwen told me it's a bit too late to go back out training as I might get sloppy at this time, whilst I was eager to go back out, I also agreed that it wouldn't be a good idea to fight tired. So for the rest of the evening until bed, Ellephwen started teaching me the changes in the written language since I was alive, it's surprisingly changed quite a bit.
After that session, I proceeded to head to bed and thought about what I learnt today. These skills confirmed Ellephwens suspicions that I was meant for something great, they didn't confirm it for me, but it definitely felt like I could become... Something. Thinking about what my future might hold, I slowly fell asleep.
~Day 15~
Determined, I went to what has become my usual training spot. Hunting around for my first opponent, I spotted the Lesser Poison Frog, this time I was certain he was the same one. How you ask? He was unusually angry at me, I swear I could see a vein popping on his head above his left eye.
He charged at me, if this was me from a few days ago I would panic, but with my new skills I could stay calm despite the danger.
His poison coated tongue lashed out ahead of his body. It came out fast, but I knew I could just about dodge it. Jumping to the right, his tongue scraped the side of my body. I winced at the pain and my health decreased a little.
Leaving no time to waste I swivelled around and charged at him head-first just as he was about to land. Unable to dodge he was slammed against a cliff wall by my speed and strength. Falling limp at the bottom of my feet, I realised this wasn't enough to kill him. Before he could recover I head butted him again, it took several hits but eventually he went down. If I were any large, it would have been difficult to dodge or head butt him, as he would have been too low down. I suppose I should be glad I fought him whilst I was still small.
Overall level has increased from [Level 54] to [Level 61].
Wow, he was quite tough, but I didn't expect to level that much.
I also checked my health [Health 10/15], if that was me just a few days ago, I would be on my last legs after that fight. I thought that I could win and I could, but if he had hit me just two more times, I would be dead. I was thinking this, but I didn't feel any fear. That doesn't mean I want to die, because I really don't. I just feel sadness at the idea rather than fear.
Still, something that I noticed earlier interests me, I slammed him against a cliff wall. I've wandered around a large portion of the Frogs territory, but this is the first time I've seen a cliff. Looking up it was quite tall, around 50ft. I seemed to be at the base of it. I decided to follow it along to see if I could find a cave or something, why you ask? Caves sometimes lead to dungeons and I heard in my past life that dungeons have multiple floors with increasingly stronger monsters the further down they go. Dungeons would make a good place for training when I get a little stronger.
After a short walk along the bottom of the cliff, I came across a sight I hadn't seen before, it wasn't a cave, it was a den of sorts. A small shelter carved out of the cliff face with corpses and bone around it.
Chewing on a what seemed to be a Deers corpse were what appeared to be a few Black Wolves, there were three of them, all small, possibly children. I knew at my current level, that even against children I wouldn't stand a chance. I backed away slowly, but they started to sniff the air. Then after looking around for a while, focused their attention on me. They noticed me, I had no choice but to run.
I was fast, much faster than I was a week ago, but they were keeping up without a problem, I have to focus on running.
My stamina was depleting, I had to look for some way to escape. I'll have to give up on my dungeon search for today.
[Skill [Swiftfoot lvl 1] has increased to [Swiftfoot lvl 2].
Ah well that was good, my speed increased. Looking behind me I could see that they were still keeping pace. Oh, so they were just toying with me before? Yes, it seems they were, but now they seem to be genuinely struggling, good I gained the ability to match the speed of a Black Wolf, even if it is a child. That will be useful later, if I survive.
However my situation had not actually improved, I had an idea so I ran back towards the cliff, it was an incredibly risky idea, but I had no other choice. I was at the bottom of the cliff, but there's a chance that there was a drop that falls even further down than where I was currently.
With this in mind I ran as fast as I could, to be honest it probably looked hilarious, a 1'5" tall mushroom with tiny blobs for legs running at the same speed as a Wolf? The idea was ridiculous.
I stifled a chuckle.
Ah, finally ahead. There was the edge of a cliff going down attached to the larger cliff I was following. Without a second thought I jumped off it, looking up I saw the Wolves stop at the edge of the cliff.
*Pheww* I thought. Just as I hoped, the Wolves wouldn't consider me important enough to risk their lives.
Speaking of life risking, time caught up to my thoughts.
I hit the canopy of trees which slowed me down, I also hit a few branches which was painful, but not fatal. Then there were no more branches.
*Thwack*
I hit the forest floor, head first. If it weren't for my unique skill, that fall would have killed me.
Ugh, my vision started to blur.
Oh dear, it seems I'm losing conscious...
