Chapter 104
You have successfully cleared the fourth circle of heaven. Circle of Salvation
Accessing next circle
Circle of ascension.
Once we entered the next zone, we were met with a dark sky. Unlike the lit area of the dungeon we passed, this one was almost pitch black. Except a for a lonesome tower in the middle of nowhere.
This tower looked like it was made of white jade and marbles.
it was made from hundreds of thousands of pillars and reached the high heavens. Any architecture from earth would be awed if they were to see the magnificence of the current view. It was like a beacon of light in a world of darkness.
My party joined me soon afterward. And Vendir was the first to move forward.
“Oi; herald! Ravana is coming make way or else you will be crushed” he said in a jubilant manner. He seemed to be happy for some reason.
“Ah, yea you are right.” I thought, indeed we have a powerful ally now. Though we didn’t really suffer much going through the first floors, with the Help of a true ancient god, the trip to the upper realms will be a breeze.
Hundreds of Rakshasas entered first and made way. The foot of the giant being was first to cross the gate.
Though the gate was much smaller than Ravana, it somehow expanded allowing him to cross.
“Ah, old home of mine,” said Ravana as he spoke.
“This was your home?” asked Haru as he was staggered by the immense size of the tower.
“Yes, before the ruination, I stood here, ruling over the tower of ascension. However, after I fell from grace. I was sent to hell, and lost all my privileges… now, my place has been taken by a powerful force… Indra… We need to defeat that being before I could claim back this floor.” Said Ravana
“Oh, I guess that Indra guy is at the top of the floor,” said Haru
“Speak not his name, Mortal!” shouted Ravana.
The moment Ravana finished his words, a red cloud materialized, though the sky was dark, this cloud was vivid and luminescent.
A streak of red lightning struck down and an avatar of sorts showed up. It was holographic. A being of the same size as Ravana showed up before us.
It was blue in color and had four arms. Sparks of red lightning would flow from this being as it exuded powerful aura.

It had a handsome face, but the gaze it gave was filled with killing intent and disdain. Aimed directly at Ravana
Indra’s Avatar
Level 1
Lord of lightning and protector of the high heavens
Indra was known as the most powerful ruler of storms, he was the king of the Devas, and was feared by all of the flesh-eating demons (Rakshasa)
“Damn! Just a level 1 and it has this presence!” said Haru.
Haruka who was on the verge of blowing up then shouted.
“Would it kill you to shut up for a moment! Everytime you say something, something bad happens!” she said as she berated the guy.
Well, he really had a bad luck with words. He is the type of guys that would say, “what is the worse that could happen,” and something worse happens.
Haru then shrank back and didn’t utter a word.
“Indra! You ruled long enough, it is time for my presence to be known to the goddess. Make way and let us pass, at least then your life shall be preserved” said Ravana
“If it was the old Ravana I would have done so indeed, but you are far from perfect. You are incomplete! You cannot defeat me. Thus, you shall not pass!” said Indra with glorious disdain.
“Then so be it, remain hidden within the upper palace! I shall come for you, and claim your head. For if your head is presented to the goddess, it shall make my pardon easier to accomplish. Our goddess, thrives and destruction and death, and your head shall be a great reward!” said Ravana as he struck down with a giant glaive ripping the avatar apart.
“Herald! Move forward! There is no time to waste!” spoke Ravana as he commanded his minions to run towards the tower.
The Rakhshasa didn’t delay and began running forward like maddened creatures. Vendir’s summoned undead charged forward and followed suit
They climbed the giant stairs leading toward the tower where they met two giant guards with elephant heads. These guards had a giant tower shield on their left, and a golden spear on their right, while their skin was the color of dirt.
I didn’t even have the chance to inspect them because the horde managed to surround them and slay them in a matter of seconds.
The giant golden door of the marble tower was pushed open by the horde, and it gave way to a giant rolling staircase.

We followed suit as the minions climbed first. Slaying all sorts and types of creatures.
Flying harpies, snakes with the bodies of men, bulls with great maces within their hands.
The horde of undead and demonic creatures didn’t stop, falter or halt, they just killed and made way for us to leisurely walk forward.
Haru was about to speak but Haruka gave him a meaningful look. As if she was saying, “Don’t you dare say anything!”
I knew Haru well, and I think what he wanted to say was something like this “Having minions sure makes things easy! I guess we could reach the top without a problem!”
Yet if he were to say that, some powerful creature would emerge and start destroying the minions. Making our climb a bit problematic.
Thankfully he kept quiet.
The climb was rather easy, normally if it were just us, it would have taken us about 20-30 minutes to climb from floor to floor, while there are about a hundred or so, floors here. It was much faster with minions clearing the way. The best part was, that every time a creature falls. Vendir summons them back and forces them to join the ranks of the undead.
The undead kept on increasing, this was the advantage of an unholy army more they fight, the stronger they become.
An undead army is most dangerous in large scale wars. And this was proof.
“Rise undead!” I cast, aiding Vendir in his carnage. There was no need to waste Vendir’s Mana as I could do the same.
It took about three hours for us to reach the final floor. There, most of the undead were blocked from entry.
Ravana was the slowest one of all of us. Not due to his size, but he took each and every step slowly. He was not bothered with time, he was an ancient god after all, Yet still, he asked me to move faster… what a hypocrite sigh.
Once before the final floor, another golden gate emerged in view, it was similar to the gate at the entrance, the only difference that it was unmovable.
“We can’t push that gate…” said Vendir
“Let’s wait for Ravana, it is his home after all,” I said as I waited for the ancient one to come forward.
The tower would slightly tremble each time Ravana made a step. Though he was the slowest, a step of his equals a hundred of ours, so it didn’t take much time for him to reach the top floor.
“Indra!” roared Ravana with all of his heads speaking in unison. It was strong enough to issue a headache!
The army of undead made way to the ancient one and Ravana moved forward
With a single palm, he pressed on the gate and it shuddered as it parted ways.
The golden gate opened.
It seems that without Ravana’s help we would have remained stuck in this place, or until Indra himself would open it.
The final floor was a room filled with treasures. Golden status of old gods and deities. Red carpets sprang all over the floor and torches illuminating the space. There was a huge throne in the middle of the room. This throne had a person sitting atop it. he looked enraged but didn’t utter a word
This was Indra!
Indra
Level ???
Lord of lightning and protector of the high heavens
Indra was known as the most powerful ruler of storms, he was the king of the Devas, and was feared by all of the flesh-eating demons (Rakshasa)
Truth to be told if Indra’s avatar had a powerful presence. Compared to this guy, it was like comparing the light of a firefly to the moon.
This guy’s presence was thick enough that it was almost tangible. Space would visibly distort every time he breathed. And lighting would spark all around his body.
“Guys… go back. I said as I addressed my friends. If they were to be struck by this guy, there was no chance of them coming back.”
“We want to help!” said Haru.
“If you try to fight that guy you will die”
“Then you can summon me back as an undead!” said Haru with a laugh.
“True, but I don’t think you would like that,” I said as I looked down towards Haru’s Crotch “Things might not get back up once you are an undead,” I said with a meaningful smile
Haru then crossed his legs and immediately backed down,” I guess I will have to stand down here. Enjoy your fight!” said Haru “I will cheer you on!”
I could only smile as I turned around to face the lightning deity. Time to get serious
Summoning my chain I willed it to turn into a long ruthless saber.
Time to kill another god!

Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.
