Chapter 7
There were several beasts coming our way, what was most interesting are the three giants leading the charge. I have seen them before in the first level of hell…
Colossus
***
Level 560
A heavenly guardian that was created for the purpose of protecting the upper realms.
(Active)
Three of these beings charged forward, and hundreds of beasts smaller in size would be seen behind them. However their strength was not to be underestimated, they were… angels.
Angel
***
Level 450
Servants of the heavenly realms.
These beings are created from light to serve as a punishing force for the transgressors and malevolent.
There was an army of these things, they did not have a human form, and they were without souls. Unlike Shara who was an archangel these things looked like glowing armors with wings.
Before I could move forward, I took a look at the notifications that began to bother me.
You have reached the pinnacle of magic manipulation.

The corpses you call upon will cost less mana to summon and maintain, you may call upon the dead without a suitable body.

Mana cost reduced.
You have gained a new title.

Deathly aura of Agony.
Your aura replenishes the dead adding 10% of your stats to everyone under you.
All that you consider an enemy within this domain will receive 1% of their current Health as flat damage /second.
Hmm, these powerups look magnificent. I seem to have grown much stronger in the time where I was stuck sparring against this guy.
Looking around I saw Vendir almost licking his lips. His new look is much better than the skeleton form I saw him at the first time.
“Vendir,” I said asking the floating Lich.
“Do you want to make this more interesting?” I asked.
“Hmm… How?” he said
“Let's see. These things that are coming our way. We will see who of us kills the most. The winner gets to order around the other for a day.” I said with a smirk.
“Oh… interesting, alright lets see then.” Said Vendir as he raised both his hands.
“Old corpses of the dead rise once more and do my bidding, I call upon you from the world of the dead so that you may serve in life! Rise undead!” he summoned.

Thousands upon thousands of corpses rose, they seemed to be made of sand, but they have a special look to them. They had the face of a wolf while they held a sickle in their hands. It was abnormally large.
They were made of bones and rotten flesh. Some had missing parts of flesh on their face that their snouts and old fangs were visible.
“Alright. Rise army of the dead for that I summon the, I call upon your might to serve me after your death, Rise undead!” I summoned. The difference between my and his summons was quite simple.
It was affected basically by the summoner's will. The might of his and my army was not different. However, the shape was an entirely different thing.
His army was composed of humanoids that had the head of a wolf. They resembled the Djhin that was named Anubis who was serving Solomon, it seems that he called upon the old warriors of this land.
However, I will use their corpses to call upon something else. His armada was based on the old warriors of this place, they were called Sarasans. Mine, however, are Death Knights!
Thousands upon thousands of warriors rose. They were armored with old rotten swords and plate mails, they had nothing but skeletons inside their armor, but they were fearsome.
They had no drive but to kill all that lives, and they shall be granted their request, in death, they are all equal, and the undead has a basic hatred of anything that is alive.
“Hmm, your proficiency in calling undead seems to have improved. Is that all?” said Vendir as several other monsters were being created. He even summoned some Scorpions and snakes that looked to have died in this place.
“You know me well enough to know that this is not all I have.”
“I call upon the army of hell, My legion, rise forth!”
You called upon your minions,
How many do you wish to summon?
“isn’t it obvious. This is a massacre! ALL OF THEM!”
The call of the Herald must be fulfilled
Abigor’s sixtieth legion has been summoned to the land of the living! Rise forward and serve your Duke.
60 000 minions being summoned.
The beasts of old are being summoned to the battle, and the scenery changed so much it was ridiculous.
We were but two men on a dun of sand, now an army of more than 200 000 members just emerged out of nowhere.
“Let’s start then,” I said with a smirk. And ran forward.
“Where are you going?” said Vendir
“Isn’t it obvious! Am joining the fight it's more fun on the frontlines, don’t come crying to me once I beat you.” I said taunting the guy.
“… sigh the young ones are sure full of energy.” Said Vendir as he flew forward.
When have you ever seen battle commanders joining the frontlines? Never, they usually stay in the back and let their army do the fight, but we are not bound by death. So why not enjoy some slaughter.
“Defile!” roared Vendir while he held his staff forward. Thousands of spikes that were larger than three trunks rose and penetrated the vanguard of the army that was charging forward.
The colossuses stumbled and fell forward, two of them instantly died while the other was barely able to move.
Damn, he is already 2 kills ahead.
“Shadowstep!” I cast and appeared above the falling Colussus, and with visceral strick, savagery was activated, and the hand of Ravana emerged ripping the beast’s insides out.

Once a target is stunned or dazed the skill activates dealing 500% basic damage, and if it is 400 levels below me, it instantly dies.
What a wonderful ability to have in this chaotic field.
“That is a kill steal…” said Vindir a bit dejected.
“It’s a kill secure,” I replied with a smirk “There are plenty of prey here,” I said as I began summoning fireballs and casting soul eruption.
Though we were first to reach the battlefield, our army soon joined, and a chaotic fight began.
“Keeping track of who kills how many is going to be tight…” I said but still didn’t bother this is a harvest.
I struck my chains burning the Angels to a crisp with the infernal might of hell seeping from my chains.
I changed them into a giant scythe and began to reap their lives.
Savagery began to stack.
With every critical strick, I gain 5% basic damage. It took me few seconds to cap it at 100% additional base damage.
Now all the plebs would die with a single swing of my scythe.
The battle certainly turned to our favor almost instantly, they army of heaven underestimated us but this is good, this will show them that they can’t lightly take us head-on.
The undead soon destroyed the remaining angles that roamed the place.
“Huh, this was too easy,” I said as nothing but dead corpses roamed the place now.
“Indeed, I think we might have overdone it a little…” said Vendir.
The sky then opened, and crackles of lightning began to rumble.
A lightning bolt as large as a building struck down. Sand instantly turned to fragmented glass.
Gilgamesh.
Raider of storms
Demigod
Level ???
“Hoo… it's you, I have some payback to give …” I said as I looked at the being before me.
This bastard was the reason for all of the trouble I got in. he should suffer a bit.
“Insolent fool.” He shouted, and a chained lighting emerged from his body, a shockwave enough to fry almost all of the surrounding undead, mine and Vendir’s were turned to charcoal. However, that was not worrisome…
Though the shockwave hit me, I managed to cast a spell that I learned from Vendir. Mana shield
It blocks 100% magic damage but would consume mana depending on the attack. And I can tell you, this guy’s magic was really strong, I lost about a quarter of my mana reserves just blocking that.
“Why don’t you just die!” he roared as he summoned a spear made of lightning.
“Sorry, but I can’t do that. I have a debt to settle with the bastards that trapped me in hell.”
“Why are you so damn adamant about fighting us! There is nothing but death that will await you and those that follow you! Give it up! We may even spar you if you just settle down in this wretched place without seeking confrontation” said Gilgamesh
“Heh? You would accept me staying here? Hahahahaha” I began to laugh hysterically.
“You think I am an idiot? You think that I will believe that? Your words are nothing but lies, you must be thinking of ways to trap me once again, maybe to do the same to me as you did to Beelzebub, you are full of arrogance, you and those that you follow. But in the end, this means that you became worried. Worried about my existence, and if you are worried, then you are afraid of what I will do.” I said with a smirk.
“Afraid? Us? What nonsense, you are nothing but an annoying thorn that can be smitten down anytime we want. The lord can destroy you whenever they want.” Said Gilgamesh who was agitated.
“Heh, then why didn’t they do it? It is because they can’t, probably they cannot come here and face me on their own. Then worry not, I will come to them” I said
“So you re-declaring war on heaven… then so be it; I will be the one to bring you to your knees and destroy this confidence of yours.” Said the lightning lord.
“Then come at me.” I said “Vendir, you can stand down, I have a debt to settle with this bastard. I said as I willed the remaining undead and the legion to step back. They circled us and made a huge arena like a battlefield.
“Very well Herald show me what you are made of. This is the first step toward reaching your goals. He is not a god yet, but he is much stronger than Ravana you need to know this.” Said vendir as he stepped back.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” I said with a smirk.
Time to hunt down a lightning Lord.
Yet even before I could move. The lightning lord knelt down.
Huh is he giving up?
“It has been a long master!” said the Lightning lord…
What?
“Herald… behind you…” said Vendir with a voice mixed with curiosity and worry.
Pressure the weight of a mountain was pressed upon my shoulders.
“WHO DARES!” I roared and saw a man. Riding on a red horse. He had grabs that had the color of blood and carried a sword that was at least a meter and a half of size. It was gigantic and think more like a chunk of metal than a proper weapon.
His horse was muscular, unlike normal ones this was a horse of battle, it had red eyes.
The man’s face was covered with a blood color veil only two red shining orbs were glowing under the darkness of the veil.
War
Leve N/A
One of the four great ideas that roamed the world.
Lord of battle, he is said to be a character that was present in every war that ever happened.
His presence and blessing could bring victory to those that he chooses to side with
His rage would bring calamity to those he decides to fight against.
Be wary of a being that only wishes to shed blood.
“It is time for you to truly prove your worth disciple of mine, show me that you are worthy of my blessing.” Said the man.
“You plan on joining him?” I asked, “I am ready to fight you both if you decide to do so.”
“Me? Join him a 2v1 battle is without honor if you want to challenge me then defeat him, first Herald.” Said War
“Hmm… alright then wait for your turn,” I said with a smirk.
“My lord, I will bring honor to you by presenting you this one’s head,” said the lighting lord as he stood up and his spear crackled once again.
“Sorry to tell you. But that is easier said than done.” I said as I disappeared from view…

Mortis Operandi 1- New Hire
Thank you for reading, I have to start with that. The feedback and encouragement from RoyalRoad users helped me finish my book. I left the unedited version up as I worked on editing and making it a little more polished. However the time has come for me to put it on Amazon and hopefully let other people read the story. If you have Kindle unlimited you should be able to read the story there. If you just want to order an ebook version you can do that as well. I should have a paperback version coming up. https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07T46B4NM Again thank you for reading and helping me on this journey.
