《Requiem of Souls》Chapter 75 (Hope, Purpose)

Chapter 5
The class looked like that day, with everyone, even the absent teacher and the care free students that paid no mind to their classmates.
“What the hell is going on?” said Misaka
“And did I always look like that?” she added
“Yes, that snobbish attitude was really irking,” I said as I heard the flesh and blood Misaka insulting the old me.
“This is awkward…” she added
“Well, at least I am not that fat anymore…” said Haru pointing at his old reflection
“There is no point in doing this, we need to find that item”
“Do you understand how big this school is? There is no way we can find something like that, something that no one knows how it looks like, or if it exists in the first place.” Said Haruna
“Then what do you think we should do?” I replied to the pessimistic girl
“I don’t know, but, I think that we should just wait for whatever that was that teleported us that time back to that world to take us again, this is exactly the same day, even the calendar says it, and its only few minutes from now until that event happens again, we can probably see then how we can use it to our advantage.”
“Your plan is filled with holes, what if that event doesn’t happen? And how can you make sure that we will get to go with the others… I will be going to look for whatever that can be related to the cuff of divination. We still have forty minutes, and Time told me that it was under this school, I can use the ability to walk through walls to search for it, but I will need you all to do this with me”
“I will stay here, I don’t really think you will find it,” said Haruna
“Do whatever you like, I said to Haruna” turning round I saw my old self, being picked on by Yuji and Renji… the only thing I could think of was, that I was pathetic.
I found myself rather calm and not enraged against these people, even more, if I had the ability to do them harm, I would not. Why? Because ‘these’ people have yet to commit something that would earn them the pain to come.
I am unlike the Divine that would make one suffer for crimes he has yet to commit. For the sake of justice and all that bullshit, I would rather not stain my hands with the blood of those that have yet to do anything of harm towards me.
Walking forward I began to dive down the concrete.
“I will look in the basement, you guys check under the classes, let's go back to our classroom in thirty minutes.”
Once underground, it was dark, but it seems that my passive was enabling me to see through darkness, even though it was a filled space I was somehow able to ‘see’ the iron beams supporting the underground. I dove deeper hoping to see that thing that would get us back, hoping that it would shine like a special item, like a beacon to show us the way out of this place… but alas no such thing was there, time ticked by slowly without me being able to find anything, I searched and searched dove deeper into the ground but nothing…

We are going to die here…
I shouldn’t have come here in the first place, I knew something was wrong but god damn it…
I hope that one of the guys would shout finding something, anything… but I know deep down that none would, how could they if what they are looking for is an item that none of us ever knew what it was, they could pass by it a hundred times without figuring out its use or properly identifying it. without the inspection ability or the usage of magic, it is like you are searching for a needle in a world of needles.
10 minutes remain until your souls are fully destroyed
This is it, there is no way for us to find the item in time… probably Haruna was right, and whatever it was that would take us would probably be the thing that took us last time from our class… let’s hope that our souls would be able to hitch-hike a ride.
Once back to the classroom we met the girls and Haru I asked
“Did you find anything?”
Everyone was shaking their heads, not having found anything.
All hope was lost, I think that Kronos was lying to me from the start… but I can’t be angry at him, the fault lies with me, it was me who gotten us here, I should have stayed there… no, that is a stupid way to reason, I needed to get away from there, away from that place, but not like this, not like a ghost…
I said as I looked at my body, the body of a broken soul.
I tried to will the broken parts of my body to be repaired, and amazingly they did, but that was but a partial success as the broken pieces were fixed by the black matter that was the core of my body.
I can use soul energy?
I grew a small soul sphere and made it float. Moved it around then absorbed it back within me after understanding that it will do nothing to help us.
“It should be about now,” said Haruna
“What?”
“Now, it’s the exact moment that we were taken to that other world.”
Anticipation kept everyone on alert.
But nothing happened, a minute, two… and more, every time the counter on our notification would tick, the more hope we lose, at this rate nothing will happen.
The class resumed its mindless chatter, they spoke and continued on with their nonsensical bullshit.
“Only five minutes remain, and this never happened last time. These events are new, there is no divine intervention that will take us back home… this is it for us” said Haruka as her ethereal body began to dim down.
3 minutes remain…
I am missing something, something is wrong, why did it happen like this, did we fuck something up?
Hang on, that old voice said that we died…
These people don’t look like that they are dying or that something will kill them…
Unless…
I put my hand forward and began channeling my soul energy, recreating that same sphere from before.
“What are you doing Daiki?” asked Haru
“What I should have done before, I am so stupid to not think of it…”
“What is it?”
“I am going to kill us,” I said with a smirk that made them all feel terror
“Soul eruption!”
I cried out as a wave of destruction washed through the room, killing everyone in this room and probably destroying the school entirely.

Once the dust and smoke died down.
Everyone began shouting at me.
“What the hell was that for? You could have killed us too, and why did you do this?”
“No time to answer your question, look over there!” I said
Once they turned around there was an item that glowed as if it was beckoning us to it. it was calling us
“It’s the cuff! Hurry everyone”
“I have no idea what just happened, but I don’t think it’s a wise idea to stay here,” said Haru as he looked up.
A vortex of souls was opened, it looked like the passage to hell.
The souls that rose from school were headed toward the vortex, then a great white hand was reaching out from the vortex and towards us”
“RUN!” I shouted out, and everyone understood that whatever that thing was, it was not friendly.
Once we reached the glowing item I was surprised to find out that it was a sole ring of an iron chain.
“Everyone at once,” I said and they all reached out with their hands.
And so we were absorbed into the ring while the great white hand could only grab at empty air.
Our souls began merging with each other, then expanding out, we were being fused and ripped apart from the speed of the transport.
Dimensional astral projection had ended with success

“What the hell was that,” said Haruna
“No matter what it was… we got away” I said as I looked around
“Did the spell fail?” asked Lilith as I saw her tilting her head.
“for how long were we gone?”
“Gone? You were here all along, I thought the spell was defective.”
“No, we actually did manage to visit our world… it seems that time dilation and difference between the two worlds is great.”
Looking at my right hand I saw something that was not there.
A chain ring.

“Holy shit man the level up is crazy! I just go to level 500 in one go, staying with you is a great way to power level Daiki.”
“Well, you leveled up through a quest and not through a real fight, you got the bonus level, but not the strength that you should normally gain, but don’t worry, we still have time to train you.”
I said with a smirk that made Haru shudder. He probably heard about the ‘hellish’ training that includes your everyday demons and soul eaters…
“Now could you please tell me what the hell happened?” said Haruka
“Well simple, there was no divine intervention, it was just the law of time and space…”
“I still don’t understand”
“Time travel is a dangerous thing, it risks changing the time line, so I believe that the only way to time travel is if it will have no impact on the future or the time line in its entirety. That is why when we found ourselves back in time, the only way to get out of there alive or to make sure that our bodies and our action remain in the time’s table, is if we are the reason behind our own death, there never was a divine intervention, our past selves were the reason for our death, they came to our school to us, in the ghostly form and did exactly like we did, we only repeated that after them, and the guys we killed will redo the same thing again, will suffer again and will go back to our world and kill the next ones…”
“I am sorry, the moment I think I understood something I just don’t,” said Haru
“Well don’t worry about it, it's pointless now… what is important is that we already have two parts of the seal. Two more and I can destroy those bastards… the ones that forced us here”
“Then what?” said Haru
“Then we can go back, however, we will go back as gods ourselves… immortal powerful and omnipotent ones…”
“But what if I don’t want that?” said Haruna
“Then you can stay in this primal world… no one is forcing you to come with us, but I want to go back, the only way to go back is by destroying the gods, I should have done this before and thought of revenge rather than try and escape, I knew that this was not going to work, but I still clung to hope. now my goal is in front of me and my sight is clear. The war will happen and I will be the one to ignite it. turning my back from this responsibility is idiotic, you can’t escape fate, but you can sure as hell make use of it”
“Where to no? and what to do, going back to our world was a sound plan, but now that it is nothing but suicidal bullshit what should we do?”
“I am going to the mountain of glory, there is someone that I promised to meet there. He will probably have the answer to our question.”
“The mountain of glory is the resting place of one of the four great ideas…. Are you sure you want to go there Daiki?” said Lilith
“Yes, and I know but Abaddon invited me, and I plan on going there. We move in few days, after having secured food and necessities, we shall be heading there. This time without Nemu, I don’t think it is a wise idea to take one that can easily be corrupted to a place of plague and curses…”
Our world to world travel experience was short lived… but still, it gave purpose to my journey… the divine shall fall, no matter what. And I will be sure to be the one behind it…

Reality Grants One Chance
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.
