《Cloud Dungeon》Book 2 Chapter 19

“Come on! Move it! Move it!” Nick shouted.

The snow elves were all over the place, clearing a space just outside the Christmas town. They were using magic and shovels to pack the snow but that went away from their nature.

Snow elves used loose snow, they don’t use ‘ice’ magic but ‘snow’ magic which mean they use the mixed magic of ice and wind elements. They prefer to make blizzards and spells of a similar nature.

To compact it, they needed to use physical means most often. The problem came with the fact that snow elves were much more frail. They are more magical unlike wood or wandering wind elves.

“This is taking too long Nick,” Kris appeared behind them.

They had tested the magic reindeer. With eight reindeer hitched to the red sleigh, it took almost 200 meters for the reindeer to gather enough speed to allow them to activate the magic ability to fly. It was already the day they were to go on the run at last, however even with a few dozen snow elves working to stomp the snow down, it wasn’t progressing.

“Aye, we need to help!” Nick said and Kris nodded.

They walked over and Nick lifted his hand then waved it down. Suddenly a spinning wind came crashing down on the track blowing up lots of loose snow while the rest on the ground was pressed down. Under the pressure it slightly melted and was compressed before freezing.

“There! You all, use wind to press it down!” Nick shouted after seeing the success of his plan.

When the snow elves saw how he did it, they began to mimic it by grouping and using some strong winds to press down the snow.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Suddenly, the sound of bells were heard causing Nick and Kris to have a feeling of contentment as they turned to look at the sources.

Perfectly adorning two long red silk ribbons, more than 200 believing bells were tied with beautiful red ribbons.

Four elves carried each ribbon and walked to both sides of the sleigh. There were hooks on the bridles of the reindeer and each ribbon of bells were put on the hooks before they magically formed sealed hoops making it impossible for the ribbons to fall off.

The reindeer began to kick and fuss making the bells ring causing a beautiful melody to form before they were calmed down.

“It seems we are almost ready,” Nick said.

“It’s really turning out how the little girl wants,” Kris said while supporting himself on his wooden cane.

“Of course, it wouldn’t be what she wanted if we didn’t try to do at least this much,” Nick said.

“After New Year’s, let's recruit the dwarves. There are many things they can do the snow elves can’t. For one, architecture and metalwork. After today, we will have one year to expand upon our work,” Kris said.

“Hmm… they attacked us though?” Nick said.

“The nobles and king did. At this time, there are no nobles or monarchy on this floor,” Kris said.

“I shall not acquaint myself with dwarves. They almost caused us to be behind schedule and ruin Dia’s Christmas. You can recruit them, but they would be your charge,” Nick said.

“Perfect,” Kris said grinning.

In half an hour, a 200 meter compacted track of snow was formed. At that time, the clear night sky was filled with stars.

With each passing minute, although it was noticed by almost no one but Nick and Kris who looked up at the sky. In their mystical eyes, they could see a very strange object in the sky. It looked like a giant grandfather clock with the clock at the top and a large pendulum just going back and forth.

The clock hand showed 11:54. Similar to most worlds, they adhere to similar time frames even when the size of the world is many times larger. It just requires the world spinning faster.

Tick! Tock! Tick… Tock!

The two were looking and noticed how the clock was started to slow down with each second.

Tick!... Tock!..... Tick!....... Tock!

The two turned and looked around them as the elves were running around without noticing, but the two men clearly felt how the world was slowing down.

“Let’s go!” Nick shouted.

Nick and Kris walk to the sleigh and each sit down. On the sleigh, two reins were there and Nick grabbed them. “ALL YOU GET MOVING!” Nick shouted.

The elves suddenly turned and saw the two. In their eyes, they the two moving quicker by the second and hastily began to move off the track in shock.

They watched as the reindeer became agitated. The two men began to glow and slowly that glow spread to the sleigh, then through the reins to the magic reindeer.

Nick stretched his hand and he began to twirl his arm as if he was holding something. Slowly his hand gathered mana and it formed a rainbow glow that transformed into a long whip. He swung it when it fully formed.

PA! BOOM!

The tick tocks had become booming sounds.

The reindeer began to stomp and suddenly all started to run.

PA!

Another swing of the whip between the two lines, they all began to run at their highest speed. Below their feet, sparkling magic gathered as they ran down the track and as it all lit up, the reindeer at the front took to the air followed by the rest, pulling the sleigh.

PA!

With another swing of the magical whip, they kept running and formed a rhythm which they ran while he made a curve down gathering speed.

“HO HO HO! Now this is what I am talking about!” Nick laughed as the reindeer curved up as they neared the ground, making it a roller coaster like ride as they built up speed going high into the starry night.

BOO~~~~M!..... BOO~~~~~M!

“Nick!” Kris said.

“Ho ho ho!” Nick laughed as his hand reached into his coat and pulled out a snow globe.

He looked up at the clock. There were five seconds left but at the speed it was going already taking ten seconds to pass each one second.

BOOM!

“So then… where should we start first?” Nick asked.

BOOM!

“Sandy helped me find several places I need to pay a visit to. Let’s start at the more problematic borders,” Kris said.

“Alright.” Nick said shaking and muttering the name of a town from the elven nation’s borders. The snow globe changed to form the town.

BOOM!

Nick stood up after Kris took the reins and tossed the globe. It then flew like a blue missile in front of the sleigh and broke. Suddenly it formed a large white vortex which they enter at once and were teleported out of the dungeon.

BOOM!

Suddenly the large clock pendulum stopped at its lowest point and all the clock hands halted. The number the hands were perfectly over 11:55 and the second hand was frozen at the 12.

On the ground, the elves were moving slowly in the time perception of the two. They had watched the magical display and the speed that they had reached near the end was blurring. Even now, they didn’t notice at all how they were moving slowly or how the two old men were moving at an accelerated time frame.

In a town at the border between the elven and human nations, everything was peaceful and most people were asleep. Only a small number of guards were on duty. With their low mastery and understanding of magic, they didn’t even feel the fluctuations within almost 50 km around the town or even notice the white hole in the sky open. Neither did they hear the beautiful sounds of the believing bells because they did not know or believe in the two men in the sleigh.

As the sleigh flew, it also released countless waves in the air as the distortion further hid the sleigh, an effect of the spirit item that it had become after Dia’s tampering. It did not hide the men after they left though.

The sleigh headed down and stopped in the air before the two jumped off silently. Their figures, as they moved, were two blurs. The magic that accelerated them made it easy for them to move unseen by untrained eyes.

Nick quickly jumped softly onto one building and after looking a moment, his hands glowed and he touched the roof forming an opening that he jumped inside for a moment then jumped back out. In that time, two small glowing presents were left at the beds of the children of the house.

As for Kris, he stared at an old battered house. The town wasn’t that large but it was big enough to have slums. He walked inside then moved through the house like a phantom and appeared in the room of the children.

Kris walked over to a child and touched his forehead, within the child's dream, he appeared almost like a nightmare.

“You, child, are naughty,” he said.

The boy was a very wicked child. Kris saw that through the child’s cruelty, the boy had already killed to steal.

In the dream, Kris slowly began to use illusions to properly educated the child. The dream that had become an illusion lasted only several seconds, but to the boy, it was a very long dream. The body of the boy began to twitch as a grimace of pain appeared on his face.

There were four other children in the house who worked for the boy. They were all like him and each were taught the same. They were all left cringing in their sleep as the nightmare continued naturally after the illusion was gone and was firmly branded into their memory which they would be sure to remember the following day.

He left and moved to another house. This one had a girl who belonged to poor family that could not get work after being merchants but failing. They weren’t bad though were forced to steal not out of malice but out of survival.

Kris sighed and touched her forehead.

“Child who is forced to be naughty to survive, this is your punishment,” he said and in the dream, the fearful girl was grabbed and put on his lap as he spanked her several times. “Try to help your father have the courage to grow,” he said.

He removed his hand and reached into the pouch that was his gift bag.

He took out a small doll that was in a small leather package and had a gentle glow. Then he took out a small pack of fruits and left it on the side of the bed. These fruits were all from the dungeon and when sold, would give the girl capital. He left a letter for her to give to her father.

With their speed, it took several minutes for them to do this entire town and soon were both back on the sleigh.

“There aren’t many farms but the bandits…” Kris’s face turned dark.

“I’ll go to the farms, I’ll pick you up,” Nick said and Kris nodded as he jumped off into the forest.

Deep in the woods, a barricaded bandit’s camp was having a banquet.

“Ahahaha! Boss, cheers for another successful year!” a random bandit shouted.

The men were drunk and laughing.

“I still can’t believe we were able to catch a caravan of elven merchants with so many women and kids!” another one said.

“The bitches are all fine, even the little ones!” One even more drunk than the rest said while wiping his drool.

At this time, in a building made to house prisoners, many naked women and girls were tied up and under the lust and drunkenness of the bandits, were being raped while crying.

Ding!

A small bell sound was heard, but these drunk men did not even pay it any mind.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Three more sounded like a tune. It was louder and was actually heard by someone. “Huh? Who in blazes is ringing those bells?” stated one of the bandits.

Ding! Ding! Ding~~~! Ding! Ding! Ding~~~! Ding! Diing! Dung! Ding! Ding!

If someone from Earth heard this ringing, they would feel a shiver down their spine as it was the ringing of bells following one of the most famous Christmas songs, Jingle Bells. The only difference was that this was played with just bells and was incredibly melancholy and sad.

At this time, the other bandits in the camp began to notice and stopped what they were doing.

“What in blazes?” A man who was in the midst of enjoying a little girl sat up and looked at the door.

DING! BANG!

At the final ring, the door burst and suddenly the melancholy song turned rapid as a snakelike chain burst through the wooden door then slammed the man in the back and twirled around him before gripping down on him and pulling him away.

“Ahh!”

The cry was heard through the camp but a cracking sound caused it to go silent.

“What in bloody hell!” Suddenly everyone was on edge and stood up.

DING! BANG!

Again the chain came and hit one man in the head but it ricocheted and smashed into another bandit’s face causing the two to collapse.

“Fucker!” The bandits shouted as they ran outside.

What they saw was an old man covered in a red light, his eyes were glowing and upon his head, a pair of horns gave him an incredibly menacing aura. In his right hand was a wooden cane and in the left, hanging loose was a chain with a weight at the tip. The chain was bloody and at his feet, more than thirty men that had died instantly with their necks cracked after being pulled by the chain or hit in the face.

“You trash can all die!” a cold demonic voice said before the figure began to spin the chain.

“AHHH! DEMON!” one bandit shouted as he began to run only to have the chain shoot at him and wrap around his neck then suddenly pull him to the man. “AHH! HELP ME!” he shouted only for the old man to use the cane on the side of his head causing it to be bent in a strange angle, falling at his feet.

“AHHH!” “RUN AWAY!”

The bandits began to spread out but much to their despair, their barricades blocked their path. The bandits were considered a D rank threat because of their boss, but much to their horror, the bandits that came out from the captive house already saw one of their leading figures hung on a tree in the camp and another slumped down on the side.

Still, Kris wasn’t anywhere near finished with them as he grabbed a man and began to swing him at all the furthest ones. He then grabbed more and more men and started to use them almost like a mace.

Because there was one entrance, they were trapped by their own protection.

“HA!”

BOOM!

At this time, another figure slammed down on the ground. He was glowing with a white light unlike the first man’s red glow and he was much fatter. With a large white beard and a grandfatherly aura, he seemed like a savior and even made the bandits feel hope for survival, but despite their expectations, when his large coat opened he took out two curved blades. His position was actually in front of the only gate.

“All you bastards are going to hell!” he said as the curved swords lit up with some strange magical lines and writing. He then took a step and swung at the closest stunned man.

It cut him clean through, but he died without dropping a drop of blood as his body began to freeze from the cut wound.

Because they were accelerated, these simple bandits couldn’t match against the speed these two ‘old’ men were moving at and soon the camp reeked of blood. Afterwards, much to the amazement of the two old men, a strange pair of girls looked at them with awe and admiration despite the fact that the other women that were caught was looking at them with horror.

“W-W-Who a-are y-you?” the blonde of the two girls asked.

Her voice was hoarse due to the lack of drinking water for a few days.

Nick looked at her with a solemn and even sad expression, “I’m Santa Claus, my name is Nicholas Claus,” he said.

“I’m his twin brother, Kris Kringle,” Kris added.

He then looked into his gift pouch and from it, golden sparkling sand began to sprinkle out.

“All of you, gather up!” Kris said.

The women were fearful, but they were resigned to their fate and came out. When they were out, Nick went around cutting their chains then stepped back behind Kris and sighed.

“U-Um… w-what will you do?” the blond girl asked timidly.

“We will take you to be cared for by the queen,” Nick said.

The women were shocked, but Kris suddenly blew at the top of the bag and a strong wind carried with it golden dust that got into the eyes of the girls.

Slowly they began to grow tired and one by one they fell asleep. When the last girl fell, Nick sighed, “It's a good thing we spoke with Sandy about this,” Nick said solemnly as he took out a globe and tossed it after saying “Felicia’s throne room.”

Elven warriors ran out and saw the two glowing figures. The warriors were startled but as they saw the women, they frowned and turned pale when they saw the carnage.

More men came out and soon the women were taken into the castle as Nick closed the portal. Nick whistled and the ringing of the believing bells could be heard as the sleigh was flew over with the reindeer coming at his call. They then mounted the vehicle and went off to the next town to complete the same duty throughout the entire nation.

Slowly waking up not even 5 minutes later, the women found themselves dressed and a maid waiting for them.

“You all, please stand and come,” She said before turning on her heel.

She took all the women, to their shock, through the palace until they found that they were in a beautiful hall filled with cooks making healthy magical foods cooked from magic fruits and many herbs that were perfectly healthy to the body.

“Please eat your fill,” the maid said.

“W-What is this?” a little human girl with black hair, one of the two girls that was not afraid of either old men, asked.

“We have allowed you all to suffer, this is the least we can do,” the maid said as her expression softened. “Eat up, this is all magic food that is perfectly safe,” she said.

The all were frozen before they all broke down in crying, they hugged themselves and cried more and more, from adults to children. Only when they cried did they go eat. Soon more groups of boys, girls and women began to appear who were all people saved by the two men and sent to sleep before being brought here.

The children keenly remember, but the adults just feared the two and wished to forget about them. They ate a healthy meal and the maids soon sent them to guest and servant rooms that the queen had told to prepare for this purpose. As there was not much time to prepare when the two men warned them about the many bandits that had begun kidnapping, there was no shelter or home for them and so they had to be sheltered in the palace.

They all went to sleep content but the girls that looked at the two old men with awe in their eyes, they just sat at the window together. Hours passed and they suddenly heard ringing, beautiful ringing bells, it caused them a feeling of security and joy that made them relax and fall asleep.
