《Cloud Dungeon》Book 2 Chapter 3

Dia who was looking at this confused and asked Misty what it meant, became extremely angry and threw a tantrum once she found out what happened. She then flew to the island that the goblins were at and found them treating the gnomes poorly, forcing them to work. As this was going on, she found Waid grinning at the side.

“Waid! You made ugly monsters from my pretty spirits!” She shouted.

He looked at her and smiled, “You made pirates so why can’t I? Also you need to make the sea of your dungeon more dangerous to protect yourself now.” He said.

“I don’t want dangerous ugly monsters!” She shouted.

“What is ugly about them?” He asked.

“Just look! They are stinky, ugly and mean!” She said.

“Why not change them like you want then?” He asked.

“Eh?” Dia said confused and looked at him then Misty.

“You can change just the appearance if you like.” She replied nodding.

Dia frowned at Waid who was grinning but she just huffed and flew over to the captain. When the captain saw her, unlike towards Waid, he stopped grinning and bowed his head, “Gre’en me lady.” He said taking his hat off and cackled.

“Hmph!” She said and waved her hand. The goblin captain was surprised but walked over and let her touch his head. After closing her eyes, she saw the ugly form of the goblin captain in her view, so she changed it. She removed the monstrous appearance, warts, sharp teeth, bad smell and such. Then she made him grow just a bit more before putting a captain's cloak over the leather shirt. Then she slightly changed the personality to not be cruel to the crew, gnomes or fairies.

When she let him go, she quickly flew to the other goblins and changed them. She made them similar, she removed the monstrous features but unlike the hook nosed captain, they looked more human with a normal sized nose, a blue bandana on their head, a navy blue shirt with a striped sleeveless shirt, a pair of shorts and finally a pair of sandals. Similar to the captain, she made them much less savage and cruel but keeping the pirate mentality. This resulted in all the goblin pirates becoming more intelligent when their savageness was partially removed.

The result of this caused their body to grow to the size of children and the captain a bit taller.

Goblin pirates have been modified. The new form will become the permanent form.

When Misty said what the message meant, Dia sighed before glaring at Waid. “Don’t touch my pretty spirits! You can make ugly monsters only if I am near to fix them up!” She said.

“Dia, he made pirates from his sharkmen as well but they aren’t smart like the goblins. Just territorial, meaning they will remain on the fourth floor most of the time and maybe the fifth floor when they expand.” Misty said.

Dia frowned at the grinning boy. “You can’t make monsters without me anymore.”

The main dungeon, Dia, has prohibited the secondary dungeon, Waid, from creating monsters without being in her presence.

“What!” Waid shouted upon seeing the message and began to stomp. “No fair! No fair!” He shouted.

“Hmph! Who told you to a bad boy.” Dia huffed and flew over to Mir.

“But! But I'm a dungeon! I'm supposed to make monsters!” Waid complained.

Pearl sighed wondering if it was okay to leave it as is, but it was bound to reach this point as he continued to mess with her dungeon. She didn’t doubt the fact that eventually they would have to leave due to conflicting points of view. Just like how they came in, they can go out and unlike before, they will be many times smarter knowing what to do in this situation where sky and cloud dungeons exist now.

Pearl flew over towards Waid and whispered into his ear to apologize and promise to not personally make monsters. He looked at her with anger towards this unjust punishment. He was near tears when he walked over and apologized.

Dia smiled brightly, “Okay, I forgive you, but make sure to not make more ugly monsters without me knowing.” She said smiling and looked at the goblins. Unlike before, the corruptive aura had been dampened down greatly and no longer were the gnomes so affected. Now it was a weak aura that was alongside the mana that the spirits needed to absorb to survive which didn’t directly altering the creature themselves being a more slow change.

The gnomes have all retreated underground in rage and fear of the pirate goblins but they were far from resigned to remaining on this island. In fact they had such a huge hate of the pirates that using their earth control, they began to create a small isolated chunk of rock before breaking it off the island and pushing it away into the cloud sea. With the help of nixies, they pushed themselves away and took half of the earth wisps. They would have taken all of them but had too few spirits to control the entire swarm. Even so, they completely hated the goblins and moved to another nearby unoccupied island to develop a way to fight the goblins.

The new leading gnome popped out of the ground huffing in rage. “Dam bloody gobins! Dam dat dungeon! ‘E amost corupted us all!” the gnome roared in rage. All the gnomes were raging when suddenly the leader’s eyes shined a blue light as the hint of corrupted aura inside him began to change. “Ta me last breath!” His body began to grow as mana rushed towards him. His ears grew pointy and his skin turned fair while his muscles were toned. “I will hunt those bloody bastards to extinction!” His aura exploded and mixed with the island. It was an aura of righteousness born from humiliation.

A new branch of gnomes has appeared, Marine Halfling.

Marine Halfling

Marine creatures have appeared in defiance towards the pirates’ injustice. These are highly righteous beings and see all wrongdoings as evil. They will fight against any wrongdoers and consider attacking spirits an act beyond despicable.

Marine category monsters follow the distinct ranking known to all sentient creatures.

As soon as this appeared, Dia was alerted. Misty and Mir laughed when they saw and explained it.

“So, marines are good guys who attack ugly monsters like pirates?” She asked with a surprised laugh before they all traveled to the island and saw a third of the gnomes had turned into marines. The leader was just a Marine Captain who wore a white cloak and a captain’s hat. Unlike the pirates, they weren’t building a city and instead were building a ship to transport all of them.

“Hey~!” Dia called out and landed.

“My lady!” The captain kneeled before Dia upon her landing. “What brings you here?”

Misty flew over, “We came to see you guys because you suddenly appeared as a new race just after the goblins, so we were a bit worried. I was wondering, why didn’t Dia get a prompt showing you were going to make your base island here?” Misty asked.

“This land is too weak for us. The goblins shall eventually move up to fulfill their greed, so we shall leave first. This lowly one wishes to reach the third floor and recruit more marines before setting up on the fourth floor. The network of information of us from the gnome line know there are pirates in those floors above so we shall encase the entire fourth sea and block the goblins from invading and growing.” He said.

“Hee~!” Dia exclaimed and looked at the boat. It was big and she blinked a while before floating over and touched the boat. This caused the boat to shine and shrink down, forming a boat with one mast and rig. The size was perfect for the crew and more.

The marines were all happy with her helping them make the ship. With a quick wave of her hand, Dia caused the ship to float and land into the water which made the gnomes and halflings cheer. Then suddenly, the captain jumped aboard and as his feet touched the ship, the ship rippled as the exterior changed to a bright white with blue rails while the deck was dark brown. Unlike the black flag with a skull and crossbones that signaled the pirates, on this ship was a deep blue flag with no details but it waved with pride.

“Come men!” He shouted and the marines jumped aboard while throwing ropes for the gnomes to climb up on.

“Alright, I'll get you all directly to the fourth floor!” Dia said.

The marines looked at her for a second before the ship shook as it was lifted up below by four large lobsters. They were curved like shrimps, but in this shape they could beat their tails extremely fast.

“See you!” Dia waved as the four red bus lobsters shot off taking the ship towards the whirlpool heading up.

With an immensely heavy and tense atmosphere, Felicia had some sweat on her forehead while her royal guard were sitting behind her within an immensely huge stadium. Inside this stadium were the representatives of all the nations, be them of the six sentient races or monster races.

The world isn’t perfectly controlled by the ‘sentient’ races. These six sentient races are Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Beastmen, and Mermen. These are called sentient races because of the fact that they have a god's ‘protection’. Of course there are extremists within humans saying that anything besides humans are monsters, especially towards beastmen and mermen. They can’t say as much towards elves, dwarves and halflings who originate from spirits.

As for the monster races, the leaders sitting in their seats were all extremely high level monsters. Within the monster world there are several ruling races. Noble Vampires are pure blood vampires who rule bat men and some undead races who live under their care as servants. Lich, the undead dark necromancer and ruler of the undead. Royal Goblin, a unique variation of goblin who never ranked up and only gained ranks of nobility, is the ruler of the goblin tribes which includes ogres and trolls in their numbers. Next was the leader of one of the most powerful races, the Golden Dragon Queen. Even in her human form, her proud golden horns and wings were in display for all to see.

Felicia drank some water from the tension as her eyes moved further on. Sitting near the dragon queen was a similarly powerful and enigmatic race. Although the weakest of this race are the bottom of the barrel in the world, when one is in power it almost rivals a dragon and this being is the Queen Slime. With bright green slime forming her body, she possessed a firmly packed human figure with a dress made of her own slime. Further on, sitting like a huge 3 meter tall statue, is the Orc Warchief. Unlike the fat low grade orcs that look like pigs, this one has the head of a boar and the physique of a bodybuilder with a pot belly. Even then, no one would dare underestimate the combat ability of this man. In addition, an orc warchief is the highest power of all orc tribes and his command will unite all the tribes, even enemies, to battle under him.

Moving her eyes, Felicia couldn’t help but sweat as the Matriarch Arachne, the Six Elemental Masters, the Great Magic Puppet, the Holy Tree Puppet, and several other amazing monster leaders of legend all gathered in this room. It wasn’t hard for someone as small as Felicia who is a simple ruler of an elven nation to get nervous. Even though she can fight one of these monsters if she fights alongside the other sentient race leaders, but this is at the least a six on one battle to win, not a one on one fight. Her Grandmother is a different story of course. As the ex-queen, she had over 1000 years of life experience so it can be expected that her power is strong. It is one of the few supporting pillars that is keeping Felicia from breaking down because said grandmother was sitting behind her at this time causing her heart to be greatly at ease even though her nerves were tensed.

“Felicia, calm down, you know as good as I how big of an impact this will have on our small little nation once what is said, is said.” her Grandmother stated.

“I can’t stop my heart from feeling like it’s in my throat. It feels like I will throw up any moment under the pressure of so many high level creatures.” She replied.

“Trust me…” The woman said and looked at her granddaughter, “What you are feeling is only the aftershock of my aura against the others. Don’t worry because I will keep these insufferable idiots from causing you to mess up, but I cannot guarantee against, ‘him’.” She said.

“It's to be expected.” Felicia said.

As soon as these words were said, the massive tension broke as nearly all the personal pressures were snuffed under an incomparable one. There are two reasons why the Holy Land is called as such and no other places can dare take the same name. The first is because this location is a unique place where the fabric of space and time is weakest and has a close approximation to the realm of the gods. The second reason stands before them all.

Slowly the figure of an aged old man appeared. He had a completely bald head with a long goatee and mustache. Over his head was a glowing halo and upon his back were six white wings which suspended him in the air as he slowly lowered himself into the head seat. He was also holding an old looking cane, but everyone knew that this was not a simple cane. Instead it was a holy sword which uses a specially refined branch of a holy tree as a sheath, perfectly containing the holy power inside from hurting the monsters.

“I thank you all for coming at this old man's call.” He said.

“We dare not ignore the esteemed and urgent call of yours, Ancient One.” The dragon queen said.

“What is this matter pertaining to?” The lich lord asked as he revealed his pale face from under his robe. Liches lords are not skeletons, liches are undead necromancers whose bodies are preserved in the border between life and death. They are neither dead nor alive and can even reproduce unlike the so called Immortal Lich who are in fact, skeleton necromancers. The power of a true lich lord compared to the other is incomparable to the point that the presence of the lich lord restricts the power of the undead.

“I am sure you all are aware of the fact that of the sudden dungeon surge?” The old archangel asked.

Everyone nodded. It has been a concern to them all when the dungeons collapsed and began to reform.

“The dungeons have evolved by the power of the goddesses of death and life. I am not aware as to why and have been unable to breech space into heaven to ask for this information. I have called to see if any of you possess an explanation.” the angel explained.

“It must be related to the new dungeons types, sky and cloud.” a voice that sounded like it was coming from everywhere said. Everyone's eyes moved towards the great magical puppet whose body contained lines through its form, showing the magical power stored within.

“Does anyone have any concrete information?” The old angel asked.

He looked around. In the seat of the elven queen, the ex-queen look at her granddaughter and sighed. The sigh was all that was needed for Felicia to know that it was time.

She breathed deeply to calm her rapidly beating heart and stood up. “Your grace, I possess information on this.” She said giving a bow towards the archangel.

“Young empress of the elven people, please speak at ease.” He said. Even when that was said, the pressure on her was huge when all eyes laid on her.

“Yes, well, I possess information coming directly from the only currently existing cloud dungeon. My nation possesses a contract of benefits between us. Not only that, but there is even a high level fairy who was made to live as a resident of the dungeon for some misconduct who explained the situation with great clarity.” She said.

“Then speak.” The angel said.

“Yes. The cloud dungeon was made with a completely different system because of a failed summoning from the gods. The soul which should have been of an adult instead brought forth a child and so the goddesses created a personal dungeon system for the child to make what she wished.” She said and saw a frown appear upon the face of the angel.

“Did they not think of balance?” He asked.

“I am not clear, your grace. I only possess knowledge of her birth within this world. My nation also has made contact with the existing sky dungeons that have appeared and it appears that they require ‘outsiders’ living within the dungeon peacefully to grow unlike the previous killing dungeons. As for the balance, I am unsure when it happened but most likely the great gods of order and chaos were eventually forced to act to rebalance the world and caused what we know today.” She said.

“That is plausible, it has made it quite clear that this dungeon is the cause.” He said.

“Your grace.” The voice of the ex-queen came out and she walked out. “Do not blame the innocent for the acts of others. She neither had anything to do with being summoned nor being reborn as a dungeon. She is simply living her life as we all are. She has only increased her floors, created what can only be called a playroom for herself instead of a dungeon and causes no evil, helping my people develop our nation greatly. Blame can only appear in those without foresight.” The ex-queen said.

“You mean to say it is the lack of foresight of the gods?” The old angel’s eyes narrowed as a dangerous aura came off of him.

“Ancient One, I am in agreeance with the fey. Had the goddesses simply rebirthed this child as a regular dungeon this would have never happened, but due to their mistake they tried to, possibly, please the child to make up for their mistake and caused a moment of inattentiveness. To anyone this may happen. What the gods have done was simply set the world in order by spreading this new system of dungeons and improve the growth potential of our children as a means to balance. Also, I have personally gone to several previously corrupt dungeons and discovered from the dungeon fey that the dungeon instincts can no longer corrupt the dungeon with unlimited killing intent. This intent to murder has been removed from dungeons and those who kill are only those driven by thirst for blood. Should all of these evil dungeons be removed, all that is left is wandering dungeons in the sky and future dungeons spawning through the world with this system.” The dragon queen said.

This somewhat agitated the angel, but he calmed down. Of the people present, this old angel had to be wary of only this dragon and the slime who was her only mortal equal.

“I am still unable to breach the barrier so I cannot confirm this.” He said.

“Then I can.” A voice said through the void.

Suddenly, above the old angel, space began to twist before the very center cracked and open as if a black hole had formed. However, the hole was not black and instead it glowed vibrate colors and had a heavenly amount of mana coming through. From within a very tall man stepped out, on his back spread four sets of fairy wings.

At once the face of the old angel turned frantic and he stood up. Not only him, but all the most powerful figures frowned and released their pressure towards the man.

“Small things, quiet down!” He said when suddenly all of them felt a mountainlike pressure smash them back into their seats, including the old angel. “I am First General of the Dungeon Fairy Corp in charge of the dungeons of the three great realms. I am under the order of her Great Holiness Goddess Yolinda to explain the situation. No one speak, just listen.” he said sternly and his pressure was removed as he floated down to the center of the stadium in front of the crowd. “First order given by her Great Holiness Goddess Yolinda along with her holinesses Helena, Teresa and Yulin. Should anyone dare kill the first cloud dungeon Dia, they shall be condemning their soul to the cruelest death and afterlife possible. This dungeon is watched over and loved by all four goddesses.” He said causing everyone to suck in a deep breath. “Second, the sky and cloud dungeon updates were added as a form to balance the imbalance that the cloud dungeon formed. The high elf Clover had been a further disruption when he became a dungeon master forming the first sky dungeon, this was by order of natural balance that drove him to almost destroy the cloud dungeon. After this was the birth of two dream spirits that finally forced the Gods of Order and Chaos, Cosmos and Metris, to force the update to keep the titan of nature from awakening.” He said.

Everyone had completely paled by what was heard. For a single dungeon to cause such a disruption is a very big deal, no wonder the effort of balancing the world caused such a huge change.

“Third, the changes to the mortal races are as followed, the previous level cap at level 600 has been pushed to level 1000. The next 10 generations will possess many great talents that will further push the world ahead or pull it down. This is in accordance with the fact that there are countless dungeons who harbor evil intent for the world. This level cap also applies for the races of monsters meaning alongside you all, the residents of dungeons shall also grow powerful, but with the rise of the new system the dungeons require outsiders within the dungeon or within its territory. These evil ones will most likely expand their territory to include cities of nearby creatures and build up their forces. Eventually they might even release from their control monsters so that they could become more creatures they can absorb mana from. It is also possible that they will become even bigger killers since killing still gives them mana as before, just not as much.” The general said. Then he looked at them all and nodded. “That is all I needed to pass. I shall take my leave, the workings of the mortal world are yours to do and I am but a messenger.” he said and simply turned as a new opening appeared behind him. Like that he simply vanished leaving each and every one of them with their heart in their throat from fear of his power.

The normally calm old archangel was flustered as he got up and looked at the portal the was closing before him. He could not fathom the power of the spirits which have always been unknown to all but the spirit goddess. Her angels are her own spirits, but their strongest was that of rivalling the weakest gods. A small archangel would not be able to contend with the might of such a high level spirit like that and he could only sigh. “This meeting shall end here. We already heard what was needed.” He said solemnly and simply ended it as such before using his magic to teleport from that location, leaving them all to their own devices.

“We got off quite lucky.” The ex-queen said to Felicia who nodded. “Shall we return home? This trip was far too tiring. I require a warm bath and the lovely and magical hands of that talented young maid you trained to massage." she said.

Felicia smiled wryly and with a call, the royal guard stood to go to their ship. They, along with the many others, left the Holy Land with far too much to think about.
