《Cloud Dungeon》Chapter 15

Queen Felicia Rosetta sat on her throne with an extremely irritated expression as she massaged her head. An incident happened four days ago when the thunderstorm suddenly appeared without warning.

The rain was tremendously heavy and lightning rained on the forest causing several parts of the forest to start burning.

During the confusion, the disciples of her brother acted while the palace was in chaos and rescued Clover from the dungeons. They made off with him and several hundred years of magical research. It was a god given blessing that any and every book written has several copies made by her royal scribes and is stored in a completely separate magical vault only the queen can access at the price of a drop of her blood.

Still the uncopied books, books that recorded current research, were all taken by that group leaving the current research projects completely at point zero and she didn’t even know what they were. Thankfully the truly rare books are never copied and only one copy is left inside her magical vault.

Through all this she had to worry about the damage and all other happenings on the nation plus a now rogue archmage.

“Your highness, what have you us do?” The general of the royal army asked.

She sighed and solemnly looked at the man, “My brother is to be blacklisted from all guilds, all cities must do a magical identity check to expose magical disguises. Spread wanted posters of Clover and all his disciples for treason and theft of the royal library and all the nations research projects.” She said and the man bowed and summoned a knight to proceed with the order.

“Your highness, what else should we do?” The general asked once he turned back.

“I'm not sure what kind of objective that my brother will have, we should send word to the neighboring kingdoms. A rogue archmage isn’t something to be taken lightly.” Felicia said.

“You may not have an idea of what he may do but I do.” Someone said and walked in but through the window.

The general pulled his sword and the queen looked over as well on alert, but what she saw made her relax greatly.

“Morning your highness, seems you’re in a mess~!” Misty said as she flew over to the queen and bowed in midair.

She nodded her head and looked at Mir who spoke. “Can you share your theory?”

“Of course, I believe that moron you call a brother will want revenge against our dungeon first and foremost. Obviously his pathetic excuse for power isn’t going to cut it since he knows Jack is in the dungeon. He will probably locate a dungeon, conquer it and enslave the soul. Because he was inside Dia he probably felt the strong sense of Dia’s wind magic affinity which corresponds with her cloud dungeon. He will probably forcefully improve the dungeon’s wind affinity until he can figure out a way to have the dungeon fly just like Dia. He will probably spend a long time hiding somewhere after that improving his dungeon, creating monsters as well as training them and possibly even changing himself until he is confident in destroying Dia.” Mir said.

Although Mir said it, the others didn’t find it as believable because just because a new dungeon appeared doesn’t mean that you can change a normal dungeon into a new type.

“How confident are you in this?” Felicia asked.

“Remember, I commanded the dungeon fairy division in the spirit world, we worked directly under the Spirit Goddess Yolida. We learned that dungeons can also become unique if they improved their natural affinity towards one or two elements, but they can’t have any other element besides this. If you are curious, before I became… this.” She pointed at herself, “We had checked Dia’s statistics and found her focus to be wind and water as the primary and secondary element and a small mix of earth affinity due to the earth island.” Mir said.

“So if he did the same mix in another dungeon, it will gain him a dungeon like hers?” Felicia asked.

“Impossible, to forcefully alter an affinity is incredibly difficult and puts a strain on the core. If he is sensible enough, he would limit himself only to Wind affinity simply to get the dungeon to unlock the capability to fly. How the dungeon evolves after that I don’t know because most dungeons create floors with random elements instead of focused unless they live in extreme environments.” Mir explained.

“So that means he can appear in any dungeon, general quickly contact all the nations and tell them to put high alert to all dungeon towns.” Felicia said quickly.

“That is a good measure, but they should be more careful of the undiscovered dungeons.” Mir said.

“There are undiscovered ones?” She asked.

“Yep!” Misty said with a smile.

“How, we do regular scrying sections over the world map!” The queen said.

“That spell has a 30% success rate and even then it finds the dungeons but never all of them.” Misty said bluntly and suddenly a large amount of mana started to gather. She started to use a small bit of her dungeon fairy ability and soon a large parchment appeared and dropped to the floor showing a true map of the world completely showing all the undiscovered areas and all the most dangerous areas.

Then she went and made scrying pendants, but the metal was pink.

“What is that?” The queen asked and eyed the map.

“Those are fairy stone pendants. It’s a unique metal that appears only in the spirit world near places where huge numbers of extremely powerful fairies live. If you compared that small pendant of fairy stone to a full metal suit of elven mithril, that pendant still costs about 10 times more.” Mir said making the queen sweat a lot.

“How is she making so many?” She asked.

“The metal has no other use besides scrying for dungeons, it’s how we made our most critical systems for discovering dungeons in the dungeon fairy system. The metal has no other worth so to the dungeon system creating fairy metal scrying pendants is rather cheap.” Mir explained.

The queen looked wholly disappointed and watched as the pendants descended on the map and moved on their own to countless positions, one was floating over the map where the elven capital was.

That said, another pendant moved a few centimeter away to the north making the queen’s eyes widen.

Another moved 10 cm to the south followed by another 12 cm to the northeast.

“As you can see, there are quite a number of undiscovered dungeons, it’s the reason so many monsters still exist no matter how many are killed. It’s not because monsters breed fast, but because they are dungeon monsters and possess an infinite capability to reproduce and grow at an extremely fast pace and have extremely huge numbers in these hidden dungeons.” Mir said.

More and more moved out until no less than two hundred were over the map and no more float down.

“If you are curious there is a unique feature to this.” Mir said and walked over before she began to chant something and hit her staff on the map. Soon the pendants began to change. Some changed into skulls, some changed into wolf heads and some changed into flowers. Dia’s changed into a cloud with a little fairy sitting on it.

“These… do they show what type of dungeon?” Felicia asked.

“Indeed.”

The ones within the elven nation were, Dia’s dungeon, one spirit dungeon, an undead dungeon, and two plant dungeons. All but one of the plant dungeons was previously unknown.

“I doubt that idiot brother of yours didn’t discover at least one other dungeon because of his magical sensitivity. The most dangerous one for him to acquire is the spirit dungeon because then he can do anything that Dia can do but there are still restrictions. His dungeon is incapable of creating the pool of liquid mana that Dia makes which aids her making very powerful monsters and thickens the mana in her dungeon. However, it would still be bad if that happened so I suggest you send people to these new dungeons. You can leave us to protect the other cities when we place a beanstalk.” Mir said.

“That would help, so many unknown dungeons I fear what the inside is like since their dungeon spirit might have gone mad by now and we will have to conquer them.” Felicia said.

“Don’t worry, we will help. I had heard you say that the magical research was stolen? Then I can teach your mages a thing or two you might not know about magic.” Mir said with a smile.

The queen smiled and thanked Mir for the help and looked at the map with a hint of desire.

“We don’t need a map we can easily make thousands of times. But we will only leave the pendants for our dungeon, the dungeons from your nation and those closest to your nation. If they suddenly start moving we will know where that idiot is instantly.” Mir said.

A smile appeared on the queen’s face as she looked at the map. She was going to have it compared with their current map. If possible she will try and send scouts to some of the unexploded lands. But that is taking into account the danger of their world. She can always postpone it and discover how to make airships that don’t require an archmage and a dungeon core to build it. It was a matter of time with Mir’s hints and researching Dia’s dungeon.

“If you allow me, during the time we are in each town I will take the elven soldiers and be their commanding officer and put them through hell to train them to handle anything including the monsters in our own dungeon, besides the most important ones of course. We need to be discreet on a few of them.” Mir said.

“You will do that!? Please do so! I will write a personal decree that you simply need to show the commanding officer and he will abide by it.” The queen said and quickly shouted for her scribe to come.

While all this was happening, far in the northeast, nearing one of the previously unknown dungeons, several emerald boats flew through the air.

“Master we are almost there!” One of the passengers on a boat shouted to the leader.

This was Clover and his group. He had a grin on his lips.

“Good, I can’t wait to see my new slave.” He muttered.

Soon the boats landed in front of a small cave.

“Be ready!” He said and in his hand a small fireball formed as he started to cautiously walked in. Soon they reached a 3x3 room and he froze while his grin also froze and began to twitch. He had expected a grand battle through the dungeon and finally reaching the core at the lowest floor, but what he found was a newborn dungeon with a room that had several herbs of very low quality and a large purple flower with waving vines.

“DAMN IT! A NEWBORN DUNGEON!” He shouted and shot the fireball at the flower blowing it up.

“Master this is lucky because the core is easily modified and won’t have conflicting elements.” His youngest disciple who was the one that freed him from his restraints at Dia’s dungeon said.

“True, this will make it easy to change its form of growth as well. Let us enslave it.”

*sob*

A small sob came from the core and a small hollow image of a child appeared. He was crouched over the flower with ghost tears.

“Oh this is even better.” He said as a vicious glow appeared in his eyes as he remembered Dia.

He charged the spell he was going to use against her and struck the boy.

The boy’s screams fill the cavern before his soul is pulled out of the dungeon. Clover then throws the dungeons soul into one of the weeds before he did a quick ritual to become the master of the empty core.

“Good, now I have complete control. DUNGEON FAIRY COME OUT AND MEET YOUR MASTER! TEACH ME YOUR SYSTEM!” he shouted but a small glow only appeared as the fairy who was 50 cm tall appeared over the weed the soul of the new dungeon was in. The weed began to glow as it and the dirt flew up carrying it.

“Good, now bow to…” Before he reacted the fairy appeared over the core and touched it and a sound of breaking was heard.

“Don’t hurt my little boy, elf prepare because I won’t forget this.” She said coldly before the core, her and the weed were engulfed in light and they vanished. However, in the silence, the glow of the dungeon didn’t fade and slowly mana in the air began to gather and instead of a crystal core, a ball of mana took its place.

“Did… she take the core?” Clover said emotionlessly.

“It… seems so master…” His eldest disciple replied.

“Then… why do I feel total control…” Clover asked.

Everyone was perplexed, but Clover quickly walked to the ball of mana and touched it. His face suddenly turned into a big smile as he suddenly fluctuated his mana in his body and the ball began to change. Suddenly the dungeon began to shift as the walls and tunnels begin to expand and several winding corridors appear with rooms.

“Haha! That bitch freed the soul and core but left the dungeon under my control!!!” Clover shouted. He looked at the glowing ball and suddenly transformed all the mana coming out of his body into wind mana and starts to flood the ball.

Slowly it began to absorb it. After a long while did the hue change slightly to green.

“Good, you all fill this ball with wind mana, when I have enough mana I will try something. This ball is pure mana and much better at holding mana than a regular dungeon core.” Clover said.

Like that his disciples filled it with wind mana and the ball soon turned green.

Clover then walks to the end of the dungeon and suddenly releases the mana.

Slowly the mana permeated the walls and he started to feel a change with him and the dungeon.

“Now rise!” He mutters.

A slow rumble shook the dungeon, but he didn’t see anything change.

“Did it fail?” He asked and looked at the ball.

Leaving it in the room, he walked out and soon arrived outside only to see the cavern dropping off a high altitude.

He swallowed but started laughing soon after.

“I DID IT! THE DUNGEON IS FLYING!” He shouted and ran back to the mana ball and thought of making an island with a flat top which was at the point he was and the earth overhead would move below.

Slowly all that dirt began to move.

“This is like godly control! AHAHAHA YES I AM A GOD NOW! A DUNGEON LORD IS AKIN TO A GOD! AHAHAHA!” his laughs fill the dungeon and soon the ceiling break off and lower as his island formed as he dreamed. A flat rock flying but suddenly it hit him, the thin air had been thickened inside the cavern.

“Form dungeon domain!” He quickly thought and then made the atmosphere thicker. He took deeper breaths and frowned. “I see, the core instinctively makes the domain and all the small features but this thing doesn’t. I need to micromanage. I also seem to be outside the dungeon system because I have yet to see their workings and no new dungeon fairy appeared.” He frowned.

As he thought, the wind blew and his earring shook his ear. His eyes suddenly widened as he remembered.

Removing his earing that was made with a dungeon core of plant affinity, he drops it into the ball of mana.

Like a whirlpool the mana swirls as it is sucked into the earring. Following this, the earring began to lightly pulse and he felt an even stronger connection to the dungeon but on a whole new level to the point that the rock under his feet is a part of his own body.

Due enslaving a dungeon and separating its soul from the core but incompletely as well as the dungeon fairy escaping with both the core and soul, the fragment created a small impromptu core under your control. By merging this with a dead dungeon core you have created a complete dungeon following the dungeon system. Because the soul was enslaved by you it has linked spiritually with you.

Because the previous dungeon was Plant affinity and the core was of Plant affinity the main monster is plant.

Because the dungeon soul fragment had been loaded with wind mana, affinity to wind mana has been increased.

Because the dungeon corpse was changed into a flying island the dungeon has now changed type.

Sky Island Dungeon

This dungeon is newly formed from numerous conditions. This island exists in its own dimension but from the outside only a single flying island is visible and it is possible to enter from a cavernous entrance at the bottom. Inside the dungeon domain there can be numerous floating islands each with their own habitats and sizes.

Affinity of this dungeon is highly dependant on Wind affinity, other affinities are secondary.

As the system explained that, a suddenly light appeared in front of Clover and an elven woman, as tall as Clover, appeared.

“So you are the asshole that attacked that poor dungeon and savagely ripped his soul out.” the fairy asked.

“You are a dungeon fairy? Good, bow to your master woman. Then explain how this system works!” Clover shouted.

The fairy’s face darkened. An immense killing intent came from her and all the elves fell unconscious while Clover held his heart and fell to his knees.

“You think you are so good because you reached this point huh? Well there are countless things that you did that I didn’t like. Let me introduce myself, I am Maribell, 5th Lieutenant Commander of the Dungeon Fairy Division. I was given this job because an asshole who thinks himself smart ruthlessly attacked an innocent newborn soul out of selfishness. Not only one but this is your second time doing this, only failing the first time because of my late superior being present in the dungeon. Now I will be watching you and I will not hesitate to beat you senseless for every cruel act you do towards innocent souls. I won’t stop you from having revenge but let me tell you…” She said and grabbed Clover’s chin and lifted his head up to look her straight in the eye, “The next time you try and do something to a child like the two dungeons you attacked, your soul will be ripped out in an extremely slow and very painful manner and then I will take you to the spirit realm where your soul will undergo many, MANY ‘teaching’ methods I learned of over my several thousand years of living. Am I understood?” She asked.

“C-c-clearly…” Clover said while being pale as a ghost.

“Good.” She said withdrawing her killing intent allowing him to breath.

“Now since you are technically a newborn dungeon it's time to choose your starting race.” Maribell said coldly.

Clover coughed as the notification appeared before him.

Please choose your first monster race.

Warning you will only have one choice until you gather enough mana to obtain a second, but you can acquire wild animals and monsters if they willingly join you.

Goblin

A race of half sentient beings. They are half sentient and half monsters and still rank up and evolve like common monsters. They are short, green, rather ugly and have a fierce breeding rate.

Kobold

A race of humanoid beings that contain dragon blood. They are the lowest ranked beings from the dragon faction and are considered worker creatures.

They have dog heads and are covered in fur, but are intelligent enough that humans and sentient races don’t fight them because they are beastmen.

Plant

Vegetation found anywhere on a living planet. They have no intelligence at the start and will grow off the mana in the air. Over time they will slowly form intelligence as they evolve.

Beast

Beasts refer to all types of animals. You can choose from rabbits, wolves, birds and any animal you know of.

“Where… where are spirits? And elementals? I know those dungeons exist!” Clover asked.

“You have been deprived of those because they are related to spirits and we won’t allow any of our race fall under your control only to be corrupted and to do filthy work and suffer.” Maribell said.

Clover ground his teeth, he had wanted spirits to be able to achieve the same beings as Dia, but even after becoming a dungeon he was deprived of this opportunity. Still…

“Plant then…” he sneered, the dungeon soul fragment from the dungeon he stole was once a plant dungeon and a core of the same type. The affinity boost would add up. As for spirits, he was an archmage dungeon master, he simply needed to summon wisps and cultivate them.

You have chosen plant as your first race.

You can summon weed, lesser healing herb, lesser poison herb and thorn bush.

His lips twitched but he could do nothing except go down, gathering more and expand his repertoire and experiment.

“You should instinctively know how to create your ‘monsters’ now get to it.” Maribell said and her body began to glow as she shrank herself. She then moved to one side and did some magic to form a small opening in the ground before shooting herself inside.

Clover lost the ‘feeling’ of that area and knew that she had taken over that small bit of dungeon and made her own house. He sneered seeing her do as she pleased and walked over to the disciples and cast recovery magic waking them up. “Let’s go! We need to gather specimens for the dungeon.” Clover said.

His boats were left down below but some disciples flew down and picked them up. As Clover was about to leave the domain he hit a wall and Maribell started laughing. “Idiot! Dungeons can’t leave their dungeon, you're a dungeon master but you're still the same.”

Upon this discovery Clover exploded into a rage and shouted at his disciples to go do the job while he stays here. They leave while he is forced to stay and study the system, summoning weeds, lesser herbs and small thorn bushes for ‘protection’.
