《Cloud Dungeon》Chapter 0 Prologue

Of all the worlds, it is said that Earth is one of the most disturbed by otherworldly gods, teleporting or reincarnating their people into new worlds.

Be it summoning or rebirth, the gods always tamper with the world to do so. In this case it is also one such situation.

Currently, a child no more than four years old going by the name of Dia White, chased after her little kitten because it had run out into the middle of the street while they were playing.

A group of gods wanted to obtain the father or brother of the girl and decided to use her as bait.

As she ran out and grabbed the kitten, the gods sent the oldest form of reincarnation, the reckless truck driver. As soon as the truck honked its horns, the family and all those near looked. Both targets tried to run, but even when adrenaline pumped in something seemed to hold them back. Be it fear of death or fear of the scene itself, they both tried to run but didn’t reach the girl before she was hit watching the truck get near her.

Both her and her kitten were hit dead center and flew half a block before landing already without any life in her, as the truck blasted off and vanished with their souls carried off leaving the family in grief.

In another world, within the domain of the gods, three female goddesses, the Goddess of Love, the Goddess of Life and the Goddess of Death were together waiting for the two men they targeted. Both were of the three women’s type and they wanted a man of their taste to be their champion and plaything in their world that was at peace. However, as the light of the summoning appeared, the three goddesses paled for what appeared was the very bait they wanted to use.

The little girl blinked and looked around, seeing the three women and the strange glowing cloudy place they sat in.

The area was a circular marble floor and a table the women were sitting at eating, but outside that area that had the circular marble laid down was completely filled with clouds.

“How did this…” The Goddess of Love muttered and instantly she snapped her finger and a large mirror appeared in front of her.

The three looked intensely while ignoring the girl who had begun to remember the moment and her body began to tremble as her hands began to fumble around for her kitten as mental support, but found her hands empty.

Not having a mental support at this moment began to drive her young mind crazy and the next moment pee began to fall from between her legs as fear overtook her.

Dia is a naturally shy girl and has an innate fear of being in strange places and an even greater fear of being far from anyone that she knows. That is why she was given a kitten, so that she can have something as a mental support for when she is alone for extended periods of time. Even with her caretakers, which were either babysitters or daycare, she has a special permission to take her kitten after she gained it.

As soon as Dia’s knees gave way, the goddess of life noticed and paled even more noticing the state the child was in. She instantly snapped her fingers causing the child to lose consciousness.

“That was close! She almost had a mental breakdown! Quickly find the cat’s soul and bring it here to keep her stable!” She shouted and her sister, the death goddess, helped her locate the cat's soul and through her powers drew it out of the cycle of reincarnation, placing it next to the little girl. It was dazed, but seeing the child she cuddled up close.

“So what went wrong?” The death goddess asked in a serious tone.

“Someone interfered!” The love goddess shouted in response.

“THAT WOULD BE ME!” A booming voice resounded and a flash appeared as a domineering figure appeared in front of the three women.

“““FATHER!””” The three shouted.

“Why?” The love goddess asked.

“Summonings should only be used when our worlds are in its most dire state. Not to bring a boyfriend I would never approve of and doesn’t even care for you at this time to our world. Now as punishment you will have to look after this child. DON’T let me catch you doing this again without my express permission.” He said and vanished.

The three women slumped down extremely depressed at losing so much mana to summon someone from earth and still get reprimed by their father.

“Well, we were at fault so might as well take care of the girl. That said, she won’t be of much use to the world as a hero or anything. She would just be taken advantage of and she knows far too little. If we reincarnate her with her memories, she will be extremely mentally unstable and could become a threat.” The love goddess said.

“Let’s make her a Dungeon. It’s the safest bet since she will be able to play with the beasts. With her still pure heart we can give her the kitten as a free dungeon boss or maybe make the cat into a dungeon fairy especially for her to keep her stable.” The life goddess said.

“Seems for the best, but I wonder how she will act being in a cave.” The death goddess said worried.

The other two and shrugged.

The life goddess snapped her finger and cleaned the girl before waking her up.

Slowly the child’s eyes opened and as she looked up she saw her kitten and jumped up hugging it.

“Misty, I had such a bad dream I wa…” She began and then looked around before paling. She got up and rushed to the edge of the area to look for some place to hide, but finding no place she crouched looking at the clouds as her eyes filled with tears.

“Child, please come here, we aren’t going to hurt you.” the life goddess said in a gentle tone.

“*hic* M-m-moma s-say *hic* to never *hic* tr-trust strangers!” She muttered.

“Don’t worry we just have to ask you something.” The love goddess said.

Hearing this she looked back with tear filled eyes. The three goddesses blushed a bit because of the sheer amount of cuteness she was expelling from those big eyes.

Slowly she got up and walked over cutely looking down at the ground, but took peeks up at the three beautiful goddesses.

“Now, do you know what a dungeon is?” the life goddess asked after crouching to be at eye level.

Dia shook her head gently.

“Did you ever play a game with your big brother that had a cool looking maze with lots of big monsters that he would beat up like a hero?” The goddess asked.

Dia gently nodded remembering playing with her older brother she loved, causing more tears to form, since she wasn’t near him, and tightened her hug on her kitten.

“Well do you want to be the dungeon that makes all those big strong monsters?” the goddess asked.

“No!” Dia said shaking her head. “Those monsters are ugly and scary.”

“Well we can’t safely bring you to our world besides letting you control those big bad monsters.” The life goddess said helplessly.

“I don’t wanna… I want to play with birds and cute things.” She said dreamingly, but then caught herself and blushed as she began to fantasize.

The love goddess giggled and walked over before picking up the child and made a sofa of cloud appear, letting herself fall in it with the shocked girl.

“Tell me, do you like fluffy stuff?” she asked.

“Mn!” She replied and cuddled Misty in her arms and then looked covetly at the cloud and slowly reached out.

“Ah! So soft.” She muttered.

“Do you want to be a special dungeon made totally of fluffy clouds?” She asked.

“But… how do I make cute things appear if I'm only cloud?” She asked tilting her head.

The four women were a bit shocked by the question. It was true that she can’t support life with only clouds.

“Do you want something else?” the death goddess asked.

“Some place like this.” Dia said gesturing around her. “Big beautiful, a small little island in the middle of clouds! I want to make a fairy land in the sky for only cute things. When I finish I want to make it my home and for Misty and papa and mama and big bro when I finally get back to them!” She said.

The three had conflicted looks, but force a smile to hide the hard fact. Since the child was having her mind stabilize it was better. Also, this was a rather strange idea, dungeons are mostly caves and a few are ones expand upwards making castles which are commonly called a demon lord’s castle, but mostly because of mortal superstition. A sky, no, a cloud dungeon would start out in the sky and would grow extremely slowly but very peacefully. However, it might experience many beast attacks due to its complete exposure. This was something the goddesses could fix with a blessing to suppress her call towards monsters until she can handle or hide herself.

“If you want a fairy land then you need a fairy right?” The love goddess said.

“Mn! I will fill it with the prettiest and nicest fairies, but I will also make them really strong so that no one can bully them or bottle them up like those meanies that I saw in big bro’s games.” Dia said.

The three goddesses giggle hearing the little girl talk about the games of her world.

“Okay then, can I see your little kitten?” The life goddess asked.

She looked startled and hugged Misty, shielding her. “Don’t worry, you said you wanted a fairy land so you need fairies, I just want to give you your own kitty fairy how does that sound?” The life goddess asked.

The girl was stunned, but slowly allowed the woman to take the kitten. The next moment it began to glow brightly and shrank into a very small size that was the same as the size of the girl's hand. When the glow vanished a small little egg was left.

“Here, when you become a little dungeon this little egg will hatch and it will be your little Misty and she will remember you and will even know how to teach you have to do everything to grow a big beautiful fairy land okay.” The life goddess said.

“Wow!” Dia said looking at the rainbow colored egg that had the colors slowly moving around the shell.

“It’s time for you to go sweetie, good luck. Also, I am Helena Goddess of Love, if you are ever lonely just dream of me okay.” The love goddess said and kissed her forehead.

“I am Teresa Goddess of Life, be careful because there are lots of nasty beasties in the skies as well okay.” the life goddess and kissed Dia’s forehead.

“I'm Yulin Goddess of Death, remember to be careful, it’s not a good thing if you meet me here again, but if you are sad let this big sister take care of you okay.” She said and kissed the girl’s forehead.

With the three kisses, the girl and the egg in her hand became a ball of light and vanished.
