The collapse of society is imminent. But you know that. That’s why you built your subterranean lair, mountain top retreat, island fortress, underwater utopia, or Martian base. You’ve stocked it with everything you need to enjoy the end of the world. Unfortunately, that includes other humans. The unruly bastards that caused the collapse. How do you stop them from initiating a second collapse inside your utopian compound? Obviously, you will have a security force, but what keeps them loyal when money doesn’t matter anymore? What stops them from yeeting you off Olympus?

I’m happy to say I’ve found the solution. It’s not shock collars. Do you remember the Zonked Orphans? The genetically engineered super babies that were born without a future sense? The mensa level couch potatoes that were completely inert without outside instructions? Remember how Overmind built an artificial intelligence called APEX, that could puppet these human sacks into genius level activity?

Well, I’ve developed a drug that can zonk anyone into a symbiont controlled genius.

Yeah. This changes everything.

Now your security force can be uber competent and ultra loyal. But why stop there? Your harem can be super skilled and mega happy. Your workers can be useful when needed, and inert when not. No need to waste resources entertaining them. Just stack them in a closet when you’re done with them.

Now that you can control large groups, with minimal expense, why not expand your fiefdom? Take over the local village. Or, snag a bigger island. Solidify your corporate structure. Pacify problem clients. Deal with your political problems once and for all.

Really, why are we waiting for the collapse anymore? If we pacify a broad swath of humanity, it doesn’t have to happen! We can cure climate change, civil unrest, overpopulation, mental illness, and disease! We can save the world!

Don’t we have a responsibility to do so?
