What kind of objective is that?

With a snap of his fingers, the chalice I was still holding disappeared.

"Even though that girl isn't listed, you should still find your reward useful!

Good luck then!"

His suspicious grin didn't go away as my vision whitened and I was teleported away.

After a while of falling, I finally landed and opened my eyes.

The place where I landed, was a small island in the middle of an ocean.

It felt awfully familiar, but I didn't mind that too much.

But seriously...

I can't imagine who that girl is, to make god behave this way.

Who could a god be afraid of?

...another god?

Hmm...

In order to find the girl I'm searching for, I tried to open the status window and look in the quests.

But all I saw, was the completed quest from earlier.

No current quests.

Looking at it though, it seemed that I could claim a reward.

The god did blabber something about a reward when I think about it.

I then focused on that 'claim reward here' part...

And then, a surge of information flowed into my head.

Seems incredible.

But also a little scary...

My eyes opened wide as an enormous amount of information suddenly appeared in front of me.

Names, stats, locations, statuses...

It was so much, that my head started spinning and I fell on my behind.

And when my focus broke, all of the information disappeared with it.

What the hell was that?

I can't even hold that thing opened for a few seconds.

That was way too much stuff all at once.

How am I supposed to utilize it?

...

And didn't the god say my target isn't even listed?

This is useless...

Even though I felt it was useless, I still tried to experiment with it for a little while.

I sat down on the ground and used that one tree on this island to lean on.

Then, I closed my eyes and tried again.

With all of my focus on this, I could last a little longer.

From what I understood, this spell allowed me to access information about everyone and everything alive in the world.

...except that girl, who is my target.

Why isn't she listed?

It would have been so convenient...

After going through it for a while, I found out couple of things I could do.

I could search for and isolate pieces of information I wanted.

For example, I searched for Aicyna and found out she is located north-east of here.

And if I focused really hard, I could even speak directly into her mind from here.

Though, I don't know if she heard me, because I didn't get a response.

A little bit later, I found out I can even watch the person in question.

When I used in on Aicyna, I saw her in bed, looking around the hut she was in.

...and then I got a serious headache and my spell broke.

This is seriously difficult to use.

And it won't help me find that girl either...

Ugh...I need to take a break.

My head hurts too much.

After I woke up again, I returned to testing out this complex ability.

The next thing I found out is, I could sort the information.

Almost instinctively, I chose to sort it by the highest level.

And these are the top seven that came up...

Searching for her, I found out she was north-west of here.

And luckily, nowhere close to me.

I let out a sigh.

Even with this database, I still don't know where to search.

In theory, I could randomly watch people and hope they spot the girl.

But just watching one exhausts me so much...

Sigh...

I will have to search for her the old way.

I finally stood up and looked around.

But all I could see was water.

No other landmass other than this island.

It looks exactly the same in all directions.

Why did god drop me here of all places anyway?

After thinking for a bit, I decided to just go in a random direction.

And by 'go', I mean run on water while using a bit of wind magic to prevent sinking.

As with anything else I do these days, doing it invoked a strange feeling of deja vu.

But at this point, I learned to ignore it.

And so, I just ran forward hoping to eventually reach land.

I actually ran for a solid few hours and I still could only see water.

It even started raining halfway through.

Rain not only made me completely wet, it also caused slight disruptions in water and made it harder to proceed.

Seriously...I hate rain.

Then, to add to that, even the ocean decided to be annoying and started creating waves.

But nonetheless, I continued running.

As I was contemplating whether I should return and run in a different direction, something happened.

A split second before the water below me burst, I felt a presence.

Even though I tried to dodge, I wasn't quick enough to dodge it completely and the thing that shot out hit me and made me fly away.

After making an arc in the air, I landed in the water and sank pretty deep before I finally stopped.

Upon opening my eyes, I saw a silhouette of something approaching me again.

In response to that, I prepared my tail to deflect whatever it was.

But when the impact finally happened, the thing attacking me didn't simply get reflected.

It merely stopped for a second before reaching out to me and coiling around me.

I tried to rip it out with strength, but it was of no use.

And since fire would be useless underwater, I made my tail release the dark mana it has been accumulating.

But that blast just made the thing shake around and its grip didn't get any looser.

Nothing seemed to be working.

In the meantime, I figured out this thing was a tentacle.

And it was pulling me further down into the depths of the ocean.

Before I started to drown, I created some air so I would be able to breathe.

But that was just a temporary solution.

I needed to do something quick.

And what I did, was scratch the tentacle that was holding me.

[Phantom cut]

With that, the tentacle was cleanly cut and I was finally free from its grip.

Not waiting for anything, I swam upwards while making more air to breathe.

But my freedom wouldn't last long.

Soon, four more of these tentacles assaulted me.

Responding to that, I created claws out of darkness and tried to fend off the tentacles the best I could.

Unfortunately, the water restricted my movements way too much.

Not to mention I had to constantly make air to not drown.

So in the end, one of those tentacles gripped and squeezed me and started pulling me deeper again.

As if learning from its previous blunder, it coiled much tighter around me and even secured my arms and tail, barely letting me move.

Although I could still breathe thanks to magic, I was running out of options.

While trying to come up with a solution, I examined the tentacle.

And then, I understood...

Why the hell do I keep running into these ridiculous monsters?

Shit...

A few minutes have passed while I was struggling and trying to figure out what to do.

And after those minutes, I finally got to see the main body.

Or rather, just its mouth.

A circular mouth full of teeth, one of which was probably as big as me.

Of course, I didn't plan to just give up and be eaten.

[Phantom roar]

I waited for the moment I was close enough and released a roar underwater.

The monster jolted and loosened its grip just enough for me to be able to force my way out.

And before it could recover, I pulled out my sword out of the alpha plane.

I followed up by gathering mana into it and stabbing it toward the huge mouth.

[Phantom annihilation]

Even underwater I could hear the loud noise it produced, even though it was much lower pitch.

When I released it, a tube of air momentarily appeared in front of me.

This tube extended all the way to the monster's mouth until I couldn't even see it anymore.

In just a second, the monster violently closed its mouth which created water currents strong enough to blow me away spinning.

Because of that, I lost grip on my sword and it floated away in a different direction.

[Air blast]

After I stopped uncontrollably spinning, I used air magic to gain even more speed.

In a flash, neither the monster, nor its tentacles, could be seen.

And in just a few more air blasts, I shot through the water surface into the air before falling back into the water.

I didn't waste any time getting back up on the surface and continuing to run.

Even when the ocean floor started to tilt, I didn't slow down.

I knew that thing will want to take revenge.

But if I slow down, I will get dragged back underwater.

Soon, however, something gigantic emerged right behind me which broke my footing and I got submerged again.

But I didn't wait for anything and used air magic to get out right away.

I probably used too much power and as a result, I flew pretty high into the air.

However... thanks to that, I could look behind me and view that monstrosity in its full glory.

...or at least as much as it would show me.

The tentacles numbered around twenty and all of them looked to be long enough to strangle even 'the king' dragon.

Its main body, however, still didn't emerge yet.

Even though I expected those tentacles to go for me in the air, they were just flailing all over the place.

That gave me the chance to safely land and start running again.

But it's not like I was just running away.

I scratched my cheek and it started bleeding.

[Blood flow]

Then, I began making the magic circle as well as preparing fire and dark mana.

All while running on water using air magic.

It was maybe as difficult to do as trying to watch someone via the database.

The violent tides and the rain weren't helpful either.

In a short time, however, it was almost ready.

Just as more sets of tentacles burst out of the water, I turned around.

With the small ball of concentrated mana in my hand, I shoved it forward while boosting its speed with even more mana.

[Armageddon]

It's been quite a while since I used this, wasn't it?

...

[Air blast]

Before the spell detonated, I pushed myself away with air magic.

And then, it exploded.

The blast made me fly away even faster and completely swallowed up all of the tentacles.

I might have made a mistake though.

Using the database, running for a few hours, and then fighting this thing.

I was really tired.

When I shot armageddon, I felt I was on the verge of collapsing.

But even then, when I hit the water surface again, I tried my best to stay awake.

I swam up again and got onto the water's surface.

However, when I looked around, I could still only see more water.

It made me breathe out a heavy sigh.

...

And then, something under me hit me once again.

It curled around me and lifted me high into the air.

One of the tentacles caught me...

It squeezed more and more around me until I lost consciousness...

Bonus:

Is the world round?

Yes.

Just like the world you all know and love, the planet in this world is round.

It means that if you go in one direction far enough, you will return to where you started.

Of course, it's much smaller than earth, because certain someone was too lazy to make it bigger.

On another note, because the sun, moon and the stars are just decorations, this planet doesn't have seasons.

The climate stays the same in one place and doesn't change much.

Of course, certain places are hotter than others, so you can still experience snow, while some other parts of the world have hot lava on them.

But just like in some RPG, a hot volcano area will always be hot and a snowy area will always be cold.

By the way...

Why the hell did you give her database?

This is on a whole another level compared to storage and analyze.

I thought you regretted making Reiza too powerful as you did with that slime?
