《Endless cage (Dropped)》Chapter 49: Not that deadly

As I finally land and the light fades, I open my eyes.
And at that moment, I find myself in a strange cavern completely filled with coins, gems, shiny weapons, armor and countless treasure chests.
Even my feet are standing on all of that stuff.
What is this about?
It's just an excessive amount of shiny things.
And none of them even seem useful to me.
I already own two swords and I have no need for heavy armor.
And even better than those swords, I have my tail.
With that in mind, I set off.
I had a choice between going forward or backward, but I decided to just go straight for now.
This cavern is more like a wide tunnel that turns and twists.
Of course, there are coins all over the floor, no matter where I go.
I even saw a few chalices among all of that trash.
It reminded me of the chalice I'm supposed to get.
I thought maybe this is all a trick and the chalice behind that barrier outside is not the one I want and that maybe it's one of these here.
But then I remembered that I examined the one outside and confirmed it was the one I needed.
And so I didn't bother with all of these things here and kept walking.
Soon, I arrived at an intersection.
There were four different paths I could take.
I didn't really think about it too much and picked the leftmost one.
As I walked, I ran into yet another crossroad.
This time, there were three possible routes.
Is this a maze?
It better not be...
I hate mazes.
While getting annoyed by the idea of having to solve a maze, I continued onward through the left path.
After that, I encountered one more split in the road, this time with just two choices.
Just like with the other two, I went left.
From then on, I continued walking for through the tunnel.
Although the tunnel kept curving, I didn't come across anymore splits in the road anymore.
And just like that, I arrived at a big door.
It kind of looked like the one I entered this trial.
Is it another trial within this trial...?
It seemed a little odd, but nonetheless, I went and touched the door.
And just like when I entered this trial, the light behind the door shined at me and I started falling.
I got quite used to that feeling and so I know what to expect.
Is what I thought...
Before my feet even connected with the ground, my nose was assaulted by an extremely strong but sweet smell.
Due to that, my eyes opened wide as I caught my nose.
Ugh, what is this?!
I looked around the place I was at and discovered yet another cavern.
This time, however, it was more like a big room than a tunnel.
Instead of random shiny junk, there were giant pink flowers and I could also see some other things moving further away.
Flowers...and the smell...

Phew...
Why did I think it would curse me though?
They're just some smelly flowers.
I carefully let go of my nose and lightly breathe in.

The smell is really strong, but at least it's not harmful.
At last, I continue walking, while looking out for the moving things I saw earlier.
They all seemed to be hiding behind the flowers though.
I can't really see them, but I know they are all around me.
Are they trying to surround me?
A little while later, a presence appears before me.
Instinctively, I raise my guard...only to drop it a second later.
The creature before me is a young handsome man with a gentle smile.
His hair is so neat...
And his eyes are...
"Hello there."
These two words made my entire body jolt.
My face started heating up and my heartbeat sped up.
I couldn't bring myself to harm this person.
"You are really cute.
What is your name?"
"Re-reiza..."
I unconsciously just muttered my name...
And before I even noticed it, the man walked closer to me.
"What a beautiful name..."
Being only an arm's length away from me, he started extending his hand toward my head.
Th-this is...
He's going to pet me?
N-no...but...I...
I...
...
I MUST MURDER HIM.
|= ??? =|
What happened?
I heard a splat.
And the man has disappeared.
All I can see are just red stains on the ground.
And the air around me also seemed to have cleared up a bit.
Also...all the big flowers are gone.
...
Status screen: Open.
Status: Charmed
I was charmed...
Shit!
How could I have been so careless...
And what even happened back there?
Even though I was charmed, I still killed him.
Why can't I remember it?
As I ponder about that, I look around to find that there were no other presences around me.
They must have all ran away after I killed this one.
But seriously, what happened?
Why can't I remember something that happened just a moment ago...?
Although still a little confused, I resumed walking.
The area is quite spacious, but at least it's not an annoying maze.
With a steady pace, I reached another door like before.
So it's like that, huh?
I wonder how many of them I will have to go through.
Realizing what is going on, I went and touched it.
And just as expected, I got showered in light after the door flung open.
This time, there is no strong smell to annoy me.
Instead, it's a very pleasant scent I like.
The scent of grilled meat.
As my eyes open, I spot rows of wooden tables with plates of food on them.
And seated at these tables are some angels...
It makes me raise my guard a bit...
But they are all just calmly eating the food from their plate.
Just like in the library, I'm completely ignored by them.
...but it's really suspicious.
Like it's inviting me to come and eat some of that food.
It's true that I haven't really eaten in quite some time, but I'm not gonna fall for such an obvious trap.
And I'm pretty sure I still have some leftover meat stored.
Checking the angel's statuses, none of them even exceed level fifty.
They are all really weak, so I really don't even need to be concerned about them suddenly attacking me.
Looking around, I noticed the room's walls were also made out of wood.
But when I gazed outside the windows, there was no scenery or the sky.

Instead, there was some swirling brownish red and black mana.
The black one was dark mana, but the red one I don't recognize.
Considering there is a visible mass of mana just outside, I probably shouldn't try to get out.
I might try it later if I'm having trouble finding a way out...but for now, let's stay inside.
I walk around the bottom floor before walking up the stairs onto the suspended veranda.
Up there are more tables, angles and food.
It's like a copy of the previous floor.
Except that there is another room further in.
And inside, there are even more angels.
But these ones aren't eating.
They are preparing the foods.
Hmm...
But where is the exit door?
The previous two areas had a door I could continue through.
But I didn't notice anything like that in this place...
Walking back down, I look around some more.
And at that moment, my stomach starts growling.
...
I'm getting quite hungry...
But I still won't try to eat these foods around here.
Instead, I'll just pull out some of the monster meat I still have.
Right when I pull out a good chunk of meat, I spot a suspicious pattern on the floor below an empty table.
...
It's a thin black square...
Could this be...?
After pushing the table out of the way, I take a careful look at the square and confirm my thoughts.
Nodding to myself, I curl my fingers into a fist and punch in the middle of the square.
And just as I expected, a passageway is revealed by the hole in the floor.
Without any hesitation, I jump down the hole and as soon as I land and look forward, I see the door I was searching for.
So it was here...
Well, it wasn't that hard to find.
Maybe I just got lucky?
Then, I proceed to touch the door and the familiar light envelops me.
After a few seconds I land and open my eyes.
Only to find myself in a really weird hallway.
The ceiling is pretty low and the ground is flat.
And the hallway is full of dusty gray plates standing vertically.
What's this now?
There don't seem to be any living things.
In fact, it's...really quiet in here.
After taking a bite of the meat I was holding, I walked in front of one of these plates.
There's something strange about these things.
I can feel faint mana coming from them.
Suddenly, the plates cleared up and revealed some kind of moving image.
It was...a foxkin girl.
She is smiling and happily eating a piece of meat.
It was handed to her by...some young male human.
"Kinua..."
...
Who is that?
Kinua...?
Again...
Why do I feel like I know her?
...
It doesn't matter, does it?
Although not being able to remember is vexing...
I'm glad...
This Kinua girl being happy makes me happy as well.
It's a strange feeling.
I must have been really close to that girl.
With a smile, I close my eyes and turn away from the image.
So weird...
I thought this last trial was going to be the hardest and most annoying one out of the three.
But so far, it was an easy maze, an easy fight, a simple hidden entrance and now something that even makes me happy.
What's up with that...?
...well, I won't complain I guess.
I marched on through the spacious hallway while occasionally taking bites of the meat.
As I went, the plates cleared up and showed similar images of happy people.
For some reason, the foxkin girl 'Kinua' reappeared several times on them.
I tried to strain my memories as I went, but I just couldn't remember who she was.
While I kept walking, a single thought was stuck in my head.
'I want to meet her again.'
But I know that I can't right now.
I still need to go through this place.
And then two more 'extra stages' before I'm free.
Even though I knew this, I kept stopping and looking at the images of Kinua.
I'm not sure if these images are from the present.
I don't even know if they are real.
They could just be made to mess with me.
But...I don't care.
It's still nice to see her smile.
However...
She is traveling with this human boy.
He seems to be nice to her, but I can't help but dislike him.
He keeps hugging her and patting her head and...
Ugh, whatever, I'll just keep going...
Although I say that to myself, I keep stealing glances at the images.
It's too bad it's just that.
Images.
I can't hear what they are saying.
It can't be helped I suppose...
Finally, I reach the end of the expansive hallway.
Yet again, it's a door.
With a touch of my hand it opens and lets out a bright light.
Bonus:
Let's talk about the status screen again.
Now, finally about the 'magic' section.
In this section are listed all spells you are able to cast.
As you would expect, when you learn a new spell, it will be added here.
But it also works the other way.
If you somehow unlock a spell here, you will instantly receive instructions on how to perform it directly into your mind.
Every spell has a different set of conditions to unlock and some can't even be normally unlocked and can only be granted by Gundar.
"Oh my Abovegod.
I can't believe she cleared four sins without even batting an eye."
Hey...
I'm sure there is at least one person reading this, who hasn't figured out what this trial is about.
So how about you elaborate first.
"Well, you know...
The seven deadly sins.
That's what this trial is based on.
The first one was greed.
There was supposed to be an epic fight with a golden worm if she took something.
Then there was lust.
She...kind of...err...
Why did she just kill him?
HOW did she kill him?
Attacking someone you are charmed by feels like attacking your close friends or family.
It shouldn't have happened...
Anyway, the third one was gluttony.
If only she just took a bite of that meat...!
Ugh I really liked the zombie golem that was supposed to appear...
The last one was envy...
And...
She was happy for her!
What the hell!
She got a little envious of the boy, but it wasn't enough to trigger the spirit!"
Are you shocked not everyone is like you?
"What are you talking about?!
I'm a god!
God's can't be evil!
And therefore it is safe to assume I am guilty of no sins!"
That's a very flawed logic.
