How I Met Your Monster #31
Felsya
Profile:
Felsya, 25
Succubus
Likes: Fine dining, long talks
Dislikes: Bringing work home
Bio:
Yes, I am a succubus. No, I am not always on. I want to meet someone who actually wants to get to know me for me and not just become fixated with my job. Most of you are too full of jealousy to be okay with it anyway, so I don't know why you're so initially excited. I'm tired of people messaging me for hookups. That's not what it is. I just want to meet a decent guy who likes me for me. So, if you're just going to be a creep, please just move on.

I got us a reservation at a local French place. After talking about the blog and everything, I got the sense that Felsya deserved a nice date. Sure, it would still be an interview, but why not both, you know? I arrived early, made sure we had a good seat away from anyone who might be staring or even bold enough to approach us, ordered a bottle of wine, and waited.
She came through the door wearing a beautiful black and white floral sundress. It played with with the light brown of her skin, and the dark wavy hair that drifted down from her horns. She looked around, trying to keep a low profile, before catching my attention and joining me. I stood up, gave her a friendly hug, and got her seat for her.
"Do you do this for all of your interviews?" She said, arching an eyebrow.

I chuckled as a waiter came over and poured us a glass of the wine, "No. But you seemed like you deserved something better than typical. People don't usually make bios that long if they're not at their wit's end."
"Well observed. Yeah, I get a lot of creeps that message me all the time, thinking I'm going to be some great sexual conquest. Which is insane. It's not even what I do."
"Well, what do you do then?"
"I used charm and looks and tap into their minds to figure out their desires. Then, I essentially make them worship me until they are willing to give up the entirety of their soul. But, it's just work you know? It's a punishment. I don't do it for fun or pick people off in the street or anything. I'm assigned cases and go from there."
"It would be like if everyone expected me to write an article about them."
She laughed. It was cute. "Aren't you doing that anyway?"
"I suppose I am. But it's still for work. Like, I recently went to an escape room with a vampire friend of mine. I didn't write a blog post about it."
She nodded and took a sip of her wine. "Exactly. Business and pleasure can easily be mixed, but sometimes it's better to keep them separated."
We ordered our food and chatted for a bit while we waited. After dinner, she asked if I was willing to take a walk. It was a nice night and the streets were mostly empty. Also, she was great company.
"You seem sad, you know." She said.
"Do I?"
She nodded, "You seem like you've lost something. Your eyes are very reminiscent of the heartbroken."
"You're not using your powers on me, am I?"

"I don't have to. Do you want to talk about it?"
I sighed, "There was this girl I liked. She liked me to, it turned out. But when we finally went for it, an accident happened and her powers turned me into a statue. I clearly got better, but instead of just trying to find a way to make it work, she freaked out and bailed. We still work together, but it's really awkward and stilted now."
"Ah, must be her first human. You know, it's a hard jump for us to make. Even I'm worried that they person I'll meet who is actually into me is going to be a human. It feels very one sided, like we have to handle you with kid gloves. I'm sure she'll come around, but even if she doesn't, there's no need to stare out the window for her and pine forever."
"I've tried stating my case. I told her I'm not worried, that we would figure something out, but she's not having it."
"Then, I think it's time to let go, Silas."
A weight felt lifted off of my shoulder, "I think you're right. But this interview is suppose to be about you, you know?"
She chuckled. It was a sweet, soft laugh that I was beginning to enjoy hearing, "Very fair. Ask away."
"I don't tend to ask this much anymore, Kind of got pegged as a filler question, but . . . what are you looking for? Like, I know your bio, but what are you truly searching for in a partner?"
We were walking alongside a path overlooking the river. She learned on the railing, looking across the water. She smiled to herself, and I watch the scene before me.
She spoke, "I want something real. I want to be able to wake up with my hair a mess and my breath bad and him still look at me like I was all done up. I want to make dumb jokes and be goofy with someone. I want that true feeling, where the only expectation is each other. I want to fully be liked and loved for who I am beyond the looks, beyond the powers, beyond the job. I want someone to like me for the me I am."
"Well, I hope it happens. For the record, you have been an absolute pleasure to spend time with, and I would love to say that it wouldn't be any problem to find that, but obviously there are variables. But the way you speak, the way you care, they are wonderful qualities, Felsya. And you are an absolute beauty, even when you have soup dripping down your cheek because you missed your mouth with the spoon."
We laughed at the earlier memory, and stood there looking across the water for a bit. At a certain point, she laid her head on my shoulder. Eventually, the sun got too low and we made our ways separate.
Life has a way of giving you opportunities to pull yourself up and out of any situation you may find yourself in, dear readers. A lot of us, myself included, have a tendency to ignore these and wallow further into our own despair. But if we're willing to take the lifesaver that has been thrown to us, who knows what might happen. Sometimes you just have to take the shot and get passed what it bringing you down. i feel like it's all uphill from here. Until next time.

Upheaval - The Gentle Apocalypse
The world is changing, but people carry on. Early in the summer, the world started changing. It is not known who first found out, but magic was real, or had become real. Of course, with the world as interconnected as it is, it took only two days for most people to know about it. Online groups sprang up, eager to test humanity’s collective new toy. Quickly, it was found out that it was all but harmless; there were (unconfirmed) reports of deaths as soon as the first day. Nevertheless, it is a novelty to most, trying it out like you’d try sports or a game. The world marches on as scientists set out to study this new phenomenon, to use it for furthering our collective knowledge and to understand it. But that won’t show any results any time soon; it is only five days since the “Reveal” meanwhile I’m out camping. I had planned this since March, to unwind from sixteen years of studying. Finally! Finally I am done with school! Getting a job is another matter… So I figured, with this magic stuff, why not try out meditating on it? I’ve enjoyed more than enough books and other media that at least some of the magic methods should be viable. Turns out, the world might not let me relax. R15+ Coarse language and adult themes. This story is finished.

Royal Guard (Complete)
I was an ordinary worker ant of the Kingdom, one of the millions populating a spread of land ten kilometers long. I had an ordinary life: I dug, I ate, and I slept; and a dream that was shared by all workers who wanted to live a life of adventure. I was on the last day of my mandatory community service, a day from becoming one of the harvesters --the crown jewel of our society-- when fate played its sick joke on me. I broke my mandible, lost my dream, and was almost forced into slavery as a result. That’s when she came into my life, a princess. She had no wings on her back, but the wings inside her were wider than the fairies that roamed the sky. She took me under her wing and populated my life with adventures and mysteries unreserved for a mere harvester. Life was good until we found termites sneaking into our territory. That’s when the adventures ended. She was mocked for calling the termites a threat. However, she remained determined to protect her kingdom, and I, to protect her. No matter the difficulties I remained by her side. Because we were a pair: a princess and her Royal Guard.
