Karnage : Here you go! Cliffhanger warning!
Chapter 21 & 22 -
[Good, Listen up what I had in mind was-] -Sol
[Uh! Wait please one moment young warrior!] -Aereis
Aereis hurriedly interrupted Sol as he had something to say and Sol could see the urgency.
[Huh? What is it?] -Sol
[My daughter she's in here! Please let us find her first!] -Aereis
[Well considering how the room is, that's no problem 2nd Queen please meditate and Aereis you go ahead and keep watch. However use of high rank magic is forbidden your Highness, I don't know how the S-Rank Queen would react to strong magic so don't do anything too drastic. I don't think the Queen is completely useless as to not pick up on heavy mana fluctuations.
The mana well gives us some level of protection from you being scanned, I also noticed there wasn't a single Bloodmana Wasp in here, it probably affects their senses too much and were pushed to the outer layers of the hive. Time is not an issue, just wait until the Wasp moves her over to where you guys were and then let me know once you've retrieved her. Also don't forget that you must wait till she gets sorted into the human category, do not become impatient and rush out there and spoil the entire operation] -Sol
Sol firmly laid his boundaries to them both as he definitely wouldn't let them screw up everything.
[T-Thank you!! I'll do as you say!] -Aereis
[Don't mention it, don't bother me for a while if that's the case. I have a few things I need to do and my success increases the success of this mission. Remember when your daughter has been found make sure to come let me know, let's not take too long in here] -Sol
Aereis hurriedly nodded as he appreciated Sol's compassionate nature, a normal man would no longer want to linger around here and he knew this. The impression he got from Sol was that even if all the beasts in here were to come charging after him, he would probably have a way to kill them or escape for sure and that gave him some strength.
He felt this way because from beginning to end Sol had an indescribable confidence within his eyes and it exuded a heavy sort of pressure. That coupled with his incredible battle prowess, Aereis had subconsciously come to trust the young lad's decisions. He asked Sol with a serious face-
[You're going somewhere?] -Aereis
[No, it's just I have to make a few poisons to take care of the Queen] -Sol
[Okay, then I'll go await my daughter and then I'll save her and we can leave this wretched place!!] -Aereis
[Agreed] -Sol
The man wasted no more words and moved towards the entrance of the place, he sat cross legged and peered through towards the pile of soft armored creatures. Worry ever present in his eyes as well as vigilance, Sol understood that this was the reason for the man's restless nature. It seemed he didn't want his daughter to die in here at all in this forsaken place.
Sol moved to a corner near the mana well and sent a bit of mana to his runic ring, he immediately took out all of the poison powdered bags that had a total of 10 remaining. He took out the vials of poison from the Queen Basilisk as well as a bunch of medical herbs from it and began making poisons. He used the surplus of medicinal herbs and poisons he acquired from the disgusting thief and decided to use them all to kill the Wasp Queen and her hive.

He crushed and ground, mixed and added. His hands moved quickly and his eyes even more so, bits of sweat protruded on his brows but he made sure not a single drop fell inside his preparation cauldron. The once diluted poison regained it's former power as a first grade insect killing agent, he powderized the Queen Basilisk's venom and integrated it into the poison and gave it an even more terrifying spin.
**
Lieren's POV :
The first time I saw this golden-haired young man, I thought he was an angel that came to save me. That sort of appearance could only ever belong to such a person, like an angel straight out of a painting that even my appearance can hardly match. He saved my life and I knew that he was a good person....well.....until just now when he started making poisons.
I watched the entire process with shock, I had never seen someone so well versed in poisons. So much so that I was afraid to even breathe the entire time, the scent of the poison scared me half to death and the strange thing is it had a sweet fragrant aroma that made my head go slightly dizzy. The young man gave me a cautioning look as well as a pill and told me to walk a further distance away, naturally I obeyed and moved a bit further away.
[Look at your hands] -Sol
He told me to look at my hands and when I looked down to my surprise, my veins had awoken to the poison and turned slightly darker. I was so scared I almost fainted, I quickly popped the pill in my mouth and almost instantly I exhaled a purple gas which terrified me. I casted my medicinal water spell of low grade and helped flush out the effects.
When did I even get poisoned!! I learned a new fear for this friend of Liore and Julias called "Sol". The most terrifying part of it all, is that he stood over the cauldron and I had not seen him take a pill from start to finish. How can someone be immune to something like that? He didn't even cough once! I couldn't help but look at him dumbfounded.
Renissa had taken me in as a disciple and had trained me when I had awoken my Dual Element and learned Water Magics, naturally I had learned some minor medical knowledge as well. I didn't have much to do as a Queen and so I devoted my time to learning more about medicine, I learned about the difficult nature of poison and how one must be very careful when making it.
That never mattered to me though, I never wanted to dabble with poison and medicine was what I wanted to learn but you can't learn one without the other. That's why I know perfectly well just how skilled this young man is and he's quite probably at Medical Saint Renissa's level.....or I suspect he may be even higher. I have no idea where our city gained such an outstanding youth since my absence but it certainly is a good thing....I think.
I had never seen or heard of anyone like Sol who could create poisons so easy and naturally and the thought of it was quite terrifying. He moved without any wasted movements and he didn't even need to look at the herbs in his hand for too long to know what they were.
He seemed like a mad scientist as he called out the names of the herbs and various poisons from books, He would criticize the basic poisons from the books and sometimes laugh, I could have sworn I had even seen him smile as he made various types of poison. For hours it went on, he had me use a low rank wind magic spell to lock the scent in and I had no arguments there at all.

His face looked very pleased and a sinister glint flashed through his eyes, it was only for a split second but as sure as day I did not miss it. Even now as he looks at the poison he seems incredibly amused. I had to ask if everything was okay and make sure the poison didn't affect his mind, I was prepared to cast healing magics as I looked at him.
[S-Sol is everything okay?] -Lieren
[...Hahaha...Yes my lady..haha] -Sol
As Sol spoke his excitement leaked out to me and he seemed as though he couldn't hold it in.
[A-Are you sure..you seem a bit too.....I-I don't know....excited?] -Lieren
[Haha, that's because revenge is near. This poison is sure to work] -Sol
Hearing his confident speech, I couldn't help but to wonder-
[R-Revenge? What sort of poison is it?] -Lieren
[Indeed...What kind?.. I have no idea] -Sol
(Eh?...ehehe...hehe..) -Lieren
I couldn't help but laugh and wonder why didn't the Queen Wasp eat me sooner. Were I not a mage, I probably would have fainted already. This kid....has a bit of a reckless side.
End of POV.
**
Sol had just finished his poisons, in front of him were 10 bags of powdered poison that were wrapped in cloth and a single larger bag that was wrapped in a tiny piece of the S-Rank Queen Basilisk's scales and it's color tinged green. Sol had managed to shake loose a scale from the white piece of scale skin and used it as the container for the poison he created to kill the Queen Wasp. Absolutely nothing else would hold the poison he had created especially for her.
Just as he was musing to himself and was quite happy with the poison he made for her, he realized the 2nd Queen had a look of fear in her eyes as she stared at him. Sol cleared his throat awkwardly once more returning to his serious appearance and put them away. As the two were trying not to create a awkward atmosphere, a hurried voice came quite timely -
[Sol! I got her!! I had to wait for a few hours but finally I got her! Please do you have anymore of those nutrient pills?] -Aereis
Sol turned to look over and saw Aereis carrying a young girl about 15 years old, she seemed malnourished as Aereis and Lieren had been, he didn't think too much and quickly threw over the pills to Aereis.
Aereis quickly fed her and her lifeless eyes after a few minutes regained some light, Lieren happily aided her with Water Magics and with the combination of those two and the aura of the mana well, the young girl regained a bit of her composure after about another hour.
[Mina! Mina! Can you hear me!] -Aereis
Though the girl looked fine on the outside, she appeared to be incredibly woozy still and could only groan in response. It was obvious she wasn't as strong as both Lieren and Aereis and would need more time to recover. Sol looked at her clothing and noticed she wore a veil and had a runic ring matching Aereis' ring and was obviously a noble as well. Sol didn't pry into their business and immediately begun speaking.
[Okay now that we have everything, here is how we are going to leave here, it's very simple] -Sol
Aereis hearing Sol speak, brought his daughter Mina who he held in his arms nearer to Sol and Lieren reluctantly moved closer while casting a wind purification spell near her nose as she looked at Sol warily. Aereis seeing this wanted to laugh but kept his serious face and looked at Sol, he had felt the dread of the poison just by being within it's proximity.
[Aereis, Can you tell me what the damage range on this is?] -Sol
As Sol spoke he took out an Explosive Fire Orb and showed it to Aereis.
[T-These huh! These are quite powerful, one of these should create an explosion big enough to cover this room but that's not the scary part. The flames burn rather wildly and it gets hotter per second, it lasts for at least an hour and if you had a few more you could easily demolish this nest] -Aereis
[...It's too powerful for what I had in mind..I'll have to light the poison by hand...] -Sol
[Wait! You want to reduce it's power? Why didn't you say so I can help with that!] -Aereis
[You can change it's power setting?] -Sol
Sol was surprised but Aereis shook his head.
[Not up but down, I possess the Fire Affinity and I can easily drain a bit of power from this orb] -Aereis
[Good, then we meet the requirements! Follow me and make as less noise as possible] -Sol
The two nodded and followed Sol quietly, they quickly left the room and using some light wind magic to move the beast corpses bit by bit to create cover leaving the Queen's nest wasn't hard.
Sol began walking up the hive followed by the two and the unconscious Mina. Sol placed the ten bags a good distance apart from one another as he walked upward along the hive and skipped most of the corridors, as he approached the 4th pocket he turned around and warned them both.
[Inside here is the corpse of a S-Rank Basilisk Queen, here would provide good cover for you to hide. When the Wasp Queen's scream goes off all Wasps will come flooding towards her, however if they sense a Dantian close by they might be agitated and want to attack. However that would be the case if you were in any other pocket besides this one.
The Wasps know not to enter this 4th pocket because they believe the Queen Basilisk is still alive and they won't come in here. If they sense you they still won't come and give priority to their Queen and rush towards her. If my plan goes well, then we will all clear out this place easily and without harm. Wait here for a moment I'll be back....oh and do not offend the corpse of the Queen Basilisk] -Sol
As Sol said these few lines he immediately sped through the hive to collect all the Explosive Fire Orbs.
[Don't...offend it?] -Aereis
(What a strange person...When he said not to offend it, he was quite serious) -Lieren
They glanced at the Queen Basilisk and a bit of fear couldn't help but leak into their hearts, though it was pinned to the wall and missing it's fangs they were still terribly afraid. The Basilisk Species itself was already terrifying, but a Winged Golden-Blooded Queen Basilisk was different like Heaven and Earth. After calming their fears the two chatted for a while to pass the time, somewhere along the line Mina had regained consciousness but couldn't move or speak still and just remained there quietly.
**
After a few minutes Sol then returned to the 4th pocket and directly handed the Explosive Fire Orbs over to Aereis as well as the Crystal Orb Detonator.
[Here they are, please lower them so that the explosion itself is minimal] -Sol
Aereis gently placed Mina with her back against the wall, he grabbed hold of the orbs and placed his hands one by one on the orbs. The orbs lit up and one could see the essence being absorbed by Aereis, the orbs grew dimmer and dimmer and then Aereis stopped. Sol looked at it, and asked it to be lowered again and Aereis did so.
[These should fit your need just fine] -Aereis
As Sol collected the orbs he could feel the reduction in power and was quite pleased. The rest of the group looked at Sol intently as they knew the rest of the plan would come next but they still didn't know what it was yet.
[Thanks this is good] -Sol
Sol then looked at them both seriously and spoke.
[Okay, my survival will depend on your success. Someone has to agitate the Queen and it obviously should be me because none of you can handle this poison without being poisoned and I have a higher chance of living against Bloodmana Wasps] -Sol
The two nodded but still had a bit of a pained and bitter face, he was after all their savior and he had to place himself in danger once more not to mention how young he was it really made them ashamed.
Aereis looked at him seriously and Lieren bit her lip but the two didn't want to leave the burden to him completely, however they didn't have the advantages Sol had nor did they want to interrupt his plans as they realized he was quite intelligent and had a strategic mind. They understood their interference could very well be the thing that endangers him and do more harm than good. This left them no other choice but to agree reluctantly.
Seeing them nod obediently, Sol continued.
[Good. When I go down in the Queen's room, I will poison her and that will attract the attention of all Bloodmana Wasps, they will come speeding towards her. When that happens you must absolutely make sure that all Wasps have entered the hive and once they have passed you safely, you must immediately leave the 4th pocket and go towards the exit
Once they've passed you they most likely will not turn back to come after you an instead urgently rush to their Queen. You should remember where I've placed all ten powdered bags right? You need to use Wind Magic to keep track of the Wasps and once most of the Wasps fill those areas you must immediately crush this white orb and detonate the Explosive Fire Orbs.
Once you do that, at the entrance use your most powerful Wind spell and send air to force the explosion downwards into the hive. The Fire Orbs will burn the poisoned bags and make this entire hive a death trap of poison for them.
Even if some managed to make it to the Queen, if I'm near the mana well they won't even be able to sense me. Even if they do manage to sense me, It will probably be a very few Bloodmana Wasps that survive and I'm confident in killing them without problems.
Between the Fire and Poison none of them will survive, this was the reason I needed the Fire Orbs weakened, so that the plan doesn't backfire and trap me inside the hive. The original Explosive Fire Orbs were much too powerful to carry out this plan, what I needed was fire not an explosion.
Sol's original plan was to poison the 2nd Queen to suppress her dantian, bring her out safely and detonate the Fire Orbs resulting in an easy win, however he had to change it when Aereis and his daughter came into the picture and created this method instead.
All I need is the Flame element itself to burn the bags without me actually being there. I should be absolutely safe because of how I've placed them and the Fire should out before it even gets to me who will be in the mana well. The fire shouldn't be enough to even reach or harm the Queen, however my poison will and that way we all survive] -Sol
After they heard the plan they were incredibly excited, there was no risk for Sol as they thought it would be if everything went without a hitch but a knot still existed in their hearts. Would it really go that smoothly? They couldn't help but think about the "what ifs" and then they became nervous once more. As if reading their faces Sol laughed and spoke with a grin.
[Don't worry my poison will kill them all, you just need to be out the cave when that happens and be alive to do your part] -Sol
They forgot about the "what ifs" when they remembered the poison, and instantly their priorities changed. This kid should be fine they thought to themselves. Anyone capable of creating something like that and not being killed in the process should be absolutely fine. Mina stared through her veil at Sol and a warm light flashed through her eyes, however afterward she quickly fell asleep.
Sol quickly left the three and decided not to waste anymore time, Aereis and Lieren bid their good lucks and they prepared themselves. They only had a simple part to do, they didn't want to fail it at all and Lieren immediately began casting a minor Wind Magic spell called "Song of the Wind". Her hands lit up and sent a gust of wind from it, the gust dispersed and spread through the hive and she could sense any minor activity.
**
Sol scattered through the hive strategically placing the Explosive Fire Orbs, making sure that they were well fixed in place and wouldn't roll around when the enraged Wasps came. Then he took out all of the medicinal wine he had left as well as all the alcohol from the thief's runic ring and spread them throughout the hive near the Explosive Fire Orbs.
He made sure the positions of the Explosive Fire Orbs were optimal for perfection conditions and then when he was quite satisfied he quietly made his way back towards the Queen's room and hid among the corpses.
He quickly dispatched the Wasp who moved the corpses with a quick arrow after it entered an optimal kill position and only had two enemies to focus on. As Sol stared at the Wasp Queen, a sinister glint appeared in his eyes before he calmed down as to not reveal any killing intent. Sol then began to close in on the Queen very slowly and entered his [Spectral Phantom] state.
Sol's head instantly became dizzy and his eyes became dull as he slid among the corpses, he brought out his Kingswood Bow and attached the powdered white scaled poison bag to the end of an arrow. He inhaled sharply and exhaled slowly and brought the Queen Wasp in his sights, as usual the disgusting creature was too absorbed in eating to notice this dark shadow that stared at it lifelessly.
Among the bodies of beasts, slight movements were common and they would never attract attention.
Sol waited until the Guardian Wasp who was feeding it found something big enough to put in it's mouth. After a few minutes his target finally came, it was a huge turtle like beast. It's limbs had been ripped out and was merely just a shell of meat.
Sol's blurred eyes stared at the Queen as he drew the bowstring. The sound of a low groan entered his ears as he nocked the arrow with the poisoned white scaled bag attached and aimed towards a hole in the shell where the turtle's limb used to be. As soon as the Wasp was about to drop it-
*SWISH*
The arrow flew through the sky, and although it was a bit off course because of the excess weight. Sol had surely already factored that in, the arrow curved and entered the shell cleanly!
*CRUNCH* *CRUNCH* *CRUNCH*
Sure enough the greedy Wasp Queen had not stopped munching, it did not notice the arrow and the entire shell entered it's enlarged mouth! The Guardian Wasp however did notice it and madly charged towards the golden-haired youth buzzing with intense fury! Sol quickly snapped his fingers and awoke from the dream-like [Spectral Phantom].
Seeing the incoming Wasp, Sol took his time and unhurriedly fired another arrow-
*Puchi*
The Wasp's corpse fell flatly on the floor near the Queen. Sol looked towards the Queen, turned around with a smile and slapped his behind while shaking it.
[Why hello there fatty! What's on the menu today?] -Sol
[GWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA]
The Queen immediately became outraged and let out a terrifying shriek that rocked the entire hive.
**
Inside the 4th pocket of the hive, Near the Queen Basilisk-
[It seems...he succeeded] -Aereis
[..Yeah] -Lieren
[....] -Mina
The three had obvious looks of worry on their faces when they heard such a shriek.
**
Queen's room -
*RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE* *RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE*
(They're coming...)-Sol
[WHAT IS A HUMAN DOING HERE!! HOW ARE YOU ALIVE!! YOU DISGUSTING HUMAN!! KILL IT!!!! KILL IT!!! KILL IT!!!] -Queen Wasp
Sol noticed the panic and fear in the Queen's eyes. He was absolutely right, this Queen was absolutely defenseless except for the annoying shrieks. He also noticed the Queen had the IQ of a child and it was quite stupid.
[It seems it hasn't taken effect yet Queen, how about something else in the mean while?] -Sol
Sol placed an arrow in his mouth, and nocked one in his Kingswood bow as he looked at the vulnerable Queen with a sinister grin. It was locked into position by a cocoon and was like a huge fat worm that couldn't move.
[You will die by the poison of your mother's enemy! I'll make you food for her children like your mother had planned to do to her!!] -Sol
**RUMBLE RUMBLE** **RUMBLE RUMBLE**
As Sol spoke the fury he had inside unleashed, the both Basilisks in his arms with a flash of light raised their heads to look coldly at the Queen who was helplessly locked inside of a cocoon and couldn't even move. Sol noticed the two little guys were becoming much much bigger and were at least a meter in length now and had quite the width as well.
They both spat venom on the arrow and Sol fired the arrow instantly!
*PUCHI*
Before the Queen could even close her eyelids it had long penetrated, it didn't want to take it's eyes off of Sol out of fear and could have evaded the blow had it closed it's eyelids. It's armor wasn't weak enough to be pierced by Sol's arrow and was indeed an S-rank but since it was a coward and the arrow came too quick, irrationality won and caused a slight delay long enough for Sol to penetrate it.
[GWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaHHH] -Queen Wasp
*PUCHI*
As the Queen screamed out in agony another arrow spat with venom penetrated it's other vicious looking eye. The Queen screamed uncontrollably as the sounds of the Wasps drew nearer.
**RUMBLE RUMBLE** **RUMBLE RUMBLE**
Sol took out it's eyes for another reason, he didn't want the Queen to see where he was going and he knew she couldn't sense him and was too stupid to be rational. He immediately left the room and went into the mana well chamber awaiting the blast.
**RUMBLE RUMBLE** **RUMBLE**
[DESPICABLE HUMAN!!! YOU WILL DIE TODAY FOR SURE!!! UGRGRG!!...URGH!! AHH!! POISON!!!!!! ARGHH!!!] -Queen Wasp
(Ahh..It seems it's working now! Good!) -Sol
The Queen screamed in terror and wailed as the poison began eating out it's insides, black veins rose all over it's earth-like colored body and it's skin begun bursting open under the dreadful effects of the poison.
[AHHHH!!!!! HELP ME YOU USELESS FOOLS!!! ARGHAAA!!!!] -Queen Wasp
The screams were like music to Sol's ears as he sat near the mana well coldly watching, the two baby basilisks had a cold gleam in their red eyes as they looked at their mother's enemy die slowly and painfully by her venom, savoring this moment and not letting a single second waste.
**RUMBLEEEEEEEEEE** **RUMBLEEEEEEE**
[It seems they are here] -Sol
**
Earthenvale's Outpost -
The silhouette of a sturdy grey-haired old man wearing a general like armor stood valiantly within the tiny fortress overlooking the hill of the Wasp hive when suddenly-
[GWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA] -Queen Wasp
[What in the Gods is happening??!!] -Nightmaster Duke
Nightmaster Duke seemed to have been awoken by this terrible howl as he hastily ran towards his horse. His face filled with dread and fear.
[If Sol succeeded then there should have been a "Boom" not a scream!!!] -Nightmaster Duke
Ignoring his own safety Nightmaster Duke climbed up his horse and hastily made his way towards the hive.
**
Outside of the Wasp hive's entrance-
Two figures were seen with worry on their faces and one unconscious girl.
[Do it now! Do it now! They're in the kill zone!] -Aereis
Lieren immediately begun casting her Wind Magic skill [Pressure Blast], with a quick incantation and a gesture the mana gathered in her hands and the wind seemed to pick up greatly. Aereis immediately crushed the crystal colored orb! At the same time Lieren released her skill!
**BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM** **BOOOOOOOOM** **BOOOOOOOOMM**
Contrary to what they thought would happen, Sol's plan didn't account for something. The mana veins within the hive were highly flammable. The mana veins that stretched from every single part of the hive caught on fire and exploded creating a trial of fire speeding directly towards the most flammable area! The mana well.
**
The explosion and shaking off the entire hive had sent Sol flying backwards, all of a sudden...whilst in mid air, Sol felt as though time had slowed down considerably. When he looked upward at the stalactite that the refined mana dripped from into the lake from all parts of the hive...for some reason it grew brighter and brighter!
(...Am I going to die?) -Sol
**BOOOM**
A pure intense fire burst forth from the tip of the stalactite and directly pierced Sol's chest sending him flying directly down into the mana well submerging his entire body! Sol could see the fire and just closed his eyes, he knew he would die.
(Sorry, you two...even after I promised your mother..I still..) -Sol
[Master!!!!!! Noooo!!!!!] -Mitra
The last thing he heard was Mitra's frantic voice.
**BOOOOOM**
Another loud explosion rung out, as the entire hive collapsed in flames!
**
Outside of the hive-
Three figures were laying on the floor covered in smoke.
*cough* *cough*
After a while, two got up and after regaining their senses Aereis couldn't help but watch as the hive bathed in fire. His eyes were filled with agony, hurt and utter pain. The 2nd Queen seemed to watch the hive and not understand what happened, she looked at it blankly and after it registered her entire body trembled and slumped down with a blank look.
[..No..noo...nooo..*sob*] -Lieren
[H-How..How could this be?..] -Aereis
Aereis couldn't help feel like he was dreaming, the plan should have surely worked. He personally drained the power of the orb and knew it should have never caused that type of explosion! Even when it was previously full of charge it should have never been anything close to what just happened! He fell to his knees as he looked at the flames and clenched his chest with his hand.
**
*Nock* *Nock* *Nock*
Nightmaster hurriedly rode his horse towards the hive when-
**BOOOM** **BOOM** **BOOM** **BOOM**
The explosion shook the entire ground scaring his horse silly, he hurriedly heeled it back into submission and hastened his pace!
[Just what in the world is going on?! T-Those were not the orbs I gave him!!!] -Nightmaster Duke
After he made it over the hill, he saw two silhouettes among the raised dirt clouds and his expression quickly became much better! It was a male and female silhouette.
(Could it be!! He succeeded!!) -Nightmaster Duke
As he cleared through the smoke, he was able to clearly see the blue hair and blue magician's robe and knew it anywhere! Joy filled his eyes as he stared at the familiar back!
[Your highness!! My lady Queen your alive!!] -Nightmaster Duke
As the Queen turned around and met his eyes, the old man had a terrible premonition as he saw her tear stained eyes and dull eyes. It was at this time he noticed the silhouette of the male and it was carrying something.... but what Nightmaster Duke noted..was that the person was not Sol.
[My lady...where is Sol?] -Nightmaster Duke
Even though he knew, he still had to ask..it took him quite a bit of courage, the evidence forthright in his voice which became weak and trembled.[/color]

In the distant past, beyond recorded history, when the crown of humanity's glory, the city of Uri, had stood whole against the enroaching demon swarms- even as hope seemed lost, a band of heroes, against all odds, managed to steal powerful magical knowledge from the demons. With the demon's forbidden knowledge, in the heart of Uri a new ritual was made. Called, "The Millenial Summoning," the ritual had the power to call a being from another world that would have the power to change the world forever. The first being summoned became known as "The Speaker," and he brought the power of the Gods to the world. With the blessings and power of the new priests, the unstoppable demon hordes were finally halted. A thousand years later, the ritual was used again and "The First Sorceress" was brought to the world. She brought the knowledge of advanced magics, and techniques to find and refine magical talent. With the magic power now added to the battlefield, the stalemate was broken. And for the first time, the demons were pushed back. Another thousand years later, and all of humanites hope for a final victory were dashed. Traitors slew the ritual's participants and took their places, and humanity quaked as The Demon King stepped into the world. His name, his nature, where he came from none of these are known, but what is known is his overwhelming power and his brilliant strategic leadership of the formerly formless hordes. Still, despite their position being even more dire than it has ever been since history has been recorded, humanity held on for another thousand years. Aided, thankfully, by The Demon King not taking the field after the first few years and battles. Now, the ritual is being cast again and a new hero is being summoned. In our world, after nearly three decades of study and hard work, Lucas Jaeger is making his dreams come true. With a double doctorate in both genetics and microbiology, as well as an associates degree in accounting, he has finally, after nearly driving himself mad from stress and sick from overwork, been able to put to together a presentation and ask for a business loan. His long time dream, earned by his own blood and sweat, to start his own commercial genetic company is finally coming to fruition. Lucas's car never left the banks parking lot and Lucas was never seen again in our world. This is a rewrite of "A Broken World." 8 182The Legend of Ghost
This is a quick novella origin story to one of fan-favorite characters in the ZERO universe, Sam Dobbs, a.k.a. Slade Gardner, a.k.a. the Ghost. I wrote it for current ZERO series fans, after many insistent, fervent, teary-eyed demands. Still, I think it pretty much works as a stand-alone, so I'll post it here. (He gets the name Ghost later, not as part of this story...this is just the why he decided to do what he did, being slightly insane and all.) Lots of easter eggs for current fans. 15k words total, chapters will be approx. 2.5k each. Oh, and if you get turned off by crazy, hyperintelligent antisocials being crazy, hyperintelligent antisocials, this isn't the story for you. ;)

Ryan has died, been reborn as a dungeon core, defeated a necromancer, and made a number of friends along the way. Life, well un-life, is good. However, everything changed when the demons attacked. With his dungeon town in danger and cultists scheming in the shadows, Ryan must decide whether to draw upon the darker side of his own nature – unlocking powers far greater than anything he has accessed before. Something his new dungeon fairy seems suspiciously excited about. With his favorite adventurer, Blake, slowly accepting his new powers as a Specter of Balance, Ryan learns being a darkness dungeon means a lot more than just bones, zombies, and skeletal fight club. Apparently, the power granted by God of Death encompasses much, much more. Unfortunately, Ryan learns the hard way that some things should remain dead… **** I have recieved permission from the publisher to share the first 7 chatpers of the story, as a sample (I am the author of this book) **** If you like what you've read, feel free to hop over to Amazon and check out the full story! https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B08461328J
