《The Godking's Legacy》Volume 5 Chapter 1 - A New Friend (5)

How did things end up like this? It feels like I’ve been asking myself that question a lot recently…. Once again, I can come to the same conclusion; everything wrong that’s happening to me is Durandal’s fault. Somehow, I picked up a strange squirrel from the jail. I might not know how other squirrels behave like in the immortal realm, but I know when something is strange! It just isn’t right like a squirrel not daring to eat meat. Speaking of a squirrel not daring to eat meat…. “Are you not hungry, Slayer Junior?”
“Don’t call me that,” Slayer Junior said. “Call me One.” He stared at the steaming plate of roast … something on the table. I’m not sure what I ordered. I just pulled out a bunch of spirit stones and told the waiter to get me what he’d get if he spent as much as I did. “My mom told me not to eat food given to me by strangers. It might be poisoned.”
…Alright, maybe this squirrel isn’t so strange after all. “That’s a good idea. People love poisoning squirrels; it’s the only way they can win against us.” Yup. As someone who was poisoned in the past, I know exactly how Slayer Junior’s mom feels. I wouldn’t let Sophia eat food made by a stranger without checking it first! Ah, how is Sophia doing? I hope Softie’s treating her right. I need to find a way back to the Immortal Continent as soon as possible. Of course, I wouldn’t mind taking a side trip to the sect that can fix Durandal’s penis problems if it doesn’t take up too much time. Hmm, maybe Slayer Junior knows something? He did escape from a mountain range of squirrels, so it’s not like he’s completely clueless. “By the way, Slayer Junior, do you know anything about a sect that gets really close to their weapon spirits?”

Slayer Junior frowned. “Stop calling me that,” he said and shook his head. “The tribe’s curriculum introduces human sects near the end. I’m not even through with the beginning portion, but I do know there are seven great sects on top of the human cultivation world. They’re the Blazing Sun Sect, the—”
“Okay, that’s enough.” So, it seems like Slayer Junior isn’t a good source of information when it comes to obscure things. I remember whoever it was that told me about the weapon spirit sect said that it was pretty small. Was it Baldie who said that? Eh, it doesn’t matter. Slayer Junior did say something strange though…. “What was that about the tribe’s curriculum?”
“Huh?” Slayer Junior blinked. “It’s the mandatory learning that every squirrel in my tribe has to undergo. The ruler of the seven mountain ranges created it to prevent squirrels from embarrassing themselves when they leave their mountain range. Although each tribe has their own curriculum, overall, they roughly teach the same things.”
Mandatory learning? There’s definitely something wrong with the squirrels in the immortal realm. No wonder why poor Slayer Junior here ran away from home. Being forced to learn against his will, who could blame him for fleeing from such torture? “Don’t worry, Slayer Junior. You’re safe with me now. I won’t force you to learn a single thing, but if you want me to teach you how to eat whatever you want without being poisoned, you can count on me!”
Slayer Junior stared at me before sighing. “Please, stop calling me Slayer Junior.” He stared at the food on the table before shaking his head. It seems like he wants to eat it, but I don’t think he trusts me enough for me to teach him how to be immune to poisons. Oh wells, that just means more food for me. Ah, I forgot to ask about a way home.

“Is there anything in your tribe’s teachings about opening an entrance to a lower realm?”
Slayer Junior blinked. “Isn’t that simple? A space-splitting formation is all you need. There’s one in the seven mountain ranges. It isn’t owned by any one tribe; as long as you have the immortal stones to power it, you’re allowed to use it.”
Well, isn’t that awfully convenient? All I have to do is return Slayer Junior to his parents, and they’ll be so grateful that they’ll let me use their space-splitting formation to go home for free! This trip to the immortal realm is practically over before it even started! Unfortunately, unless that weapon spirit sect happens to be on the way to Slayer Junior’s home, it doesn’t seem like there’ll be an easy way to fix Durandal. Or is there? “What about a world tree? Is there a world tree anywhere nearby? I need the core of one.” Right. That’s the main ingredient for the virility pill. All I have to do is take a world tree’s core to Ilya, and she’ll fix Durandal right up.
Slayer Junior’s brow furrowed. “There’s a world tree in the seven mountain ranges, but I don’t think you’ll be able to take its core.”
Hmm? “Why not?”
“It’s the ruler’s home,” Slayer Junior said. “She once ripped the head off a demon ambassador because he accidentally stepped on a blade of grass in her yard on a diplomatic visit. If you try to remove the core from her home, there’s no telling what’ll be left of you when she’s done venting her anger.”
Uh…. “How strong is this ruler?”
“She’s a transcendent beast.”
Transcendent beast!? That’s—! …Um. “And that means?”
Slayer Junior blinked at me. “It means she can fight five supreme immortals by herself. Do you know what supreme immortals are?”
“Of course, I know!” Right? I’ve heard the term supreme immortal somewhere. I’m just having a tough time remembering, but if I use the context clues, I can figure it out! “Supreme immortal is just the level above immortal.” Ah? Doesn’t that mean this ruler is really damn strong? If a regular immortal could melt my body, a supreme immortal could do even worse! And this ruler can fight five of them at once? Isn’t that a bit too exaggerated? Well, there’s one thing I know for certain. When I return Slayer Junior to his home, I’m going to be on my best behavior!

A Fool's Journey, or the Vagrancies of a Man in Exotic Lands
What does a sad bastard do when fate, literally, decides to throw him into a fantasy world? Solon just wanted to lead a normal life; work, share some pizza with friends, work, play some videogames or read something, work, maybe sleep?, work... Pretty much the usual, rinse and repeat. It was far from perfect, but life was nicely boring and comfy enough. Truth be told, he had hoped it would go on forever, or until he got married, or until the apocalypse finally decided to bring an end to everything. As far as he could tell, though, the former was about as likely as the latter; not very. And perhaps even somewhat related, if it ever came to it. Unfortunately, he saw himself involved in some sort of cosmic fart that screwed him over, brutally severing his life-plan. Or, maybe, would it be more suitable to say that Fate had other plans? Sure, he's yet to find out exactly what those plans might be, but, at the very least, they do seem to involve him being shoved into another world, fighting off a couple of horrendous creepers, and -almost- an accidental liaison with a baboon. Needless to say, the job doesn't come with dental care, and death seems more likely than retirement... Yep, when he got yoinked out of Earth, there were no princesses waiting for him, no sexy goddesses, and no severe Gandalf-wannabes! Heck, not even a bunch of demonic cultists! All he got for the trouble was a bunch of snarky windows and the honest desire to punch whatever bastard happens to be behind the smug System. Well, that, and a few forced trips to the so-called Tower of Ascension. Not exactly what he would have expected but, on the plus side, he does get to do some magic. Though, not quite the wand-waving kind. Whatever. One thing’s patently clear, though, he’s certainly not the chosen one, nor the summoned hero, nor the Savior. If anything, he himself might be in need of some saving... Just what kind of fool does the System take him for? Please do consider the tags. Also, 'Strong Lead' here means weak to strong, over a decent amount of time, not op from the very beginning. Things to expect: decent grammar, cheeky goats. Things not to expect: Harems, a decent sense of fashion.

Grey Worlds
A mysterious incident occurred on a otherwise normal science centered world where all of the children from the age range of eight to sixteen suddenly vanished. “Where have their kids gone and will they ever return?” The now childless parents never got to really ask that question, because a strange new element replaced their lost children. This element slowly mutated the various animals that they once ruled over with their technology to the point that they were immune to their modern weaponry. The barren land of savages on a continent far away from theirs also had their children taken, but they easily mutated just like the beasts and only grew stronger thanks to the incident. A revolution of animals eventually took place after the mutations started to cause the animals to understand just how badly the humans ruined their lives and planet. Humans were the slowest to figure out how to use this strange new element to evolve, while their opponents were evolving and growing stronger by the day they couldn’t even surpass their modern technology. When humanity was on the brink of extinction a long forgotten event finally ended and their children finally started to return from the various worlds they were summoned to! It turns out that the mysterious new element that they didn’t know what to call was mana and that it’s everywhere in some fantasy planets. The children brought back a increase in technology and techniques to grow stronger with, which caused the humans to finally be able to build safe havens for their race. They grew stronger and started to finally adapt to their brand new environment. This is the story of a orphan who was taken away from his world, before he could gain a sense of attachment to the world. Who only has his older sister to care about and how he ends up adapting to the new world in front of him.------------------Dog notes by doggo First 'five' chapters aren't what the story is really about and is more of a prologue. The reason why some are separated into parts is because Doggo originally posted them as a entire chapter. The main setting is Ghost's actual world and not any foreign world. So this story was already posted once to another site or this site three years ago… and Dog is finally ending that three year hiatus! The explanation on why Dog was on a three year hiatus would of been written in the review section, but rrl doesn't allow self reviews. I'd have to create a alt just to self review which they obviously don't want even tho I'd not give myself any stars so its going to be here instead. The update schedule is a chapter a week till Dog get a editor and then two chapters a week till Dog gets enough money to pay for Dog’s bills. The final goal is to release a chapter every other day. Dog writes 4k word chapters so they are about twice as long as some of the other authors so every other day is actually more like once a day. ------------------- The part that was supposed to be the 'review' which Dog wont bother editing out repeat infomation since it wasn't supposed to go here in the first place. The first thing Dog will go over is what changed for the first 5 chapters, so that anyone who still remembers Dog's little novel and wants to continue from where Dog originally left off can decide whether or not to reread it. Also Dog is moving over to qidan simply because dog like the app they have. Dog won't go premium even if Qidan tells dog to and will simply move back to royalroad or create a blog. The things that changed over the years are mainly two important things. The first is that Dog changed the first person point of view to a third person, because Dog read a really bad first person novel and it reminded dog of dogs own novel. Dog also changed the thoughts of the character to be - - instead of italics. Finally dog changed chapter 3 completely to make the mc not seem like a homicidal maniac and introduced a important character in chapter 3.What happened to do in the three years that dog was away? Was dog at college and now needs money to eat? Was dog off in space after successfully becoming a astronaut and has now returned home with a completed novel or two? The answer is actually quite plain dog graduated from highschool and was supposed to only spend a year at dogs owners house to choose what major dog wanted to go to college for.Dog didn't do that and is still stuck with dogs owners and is sick of being a neet. Dog wants to move and buy doggy food, but dog is antisocial and doesn't want to work a simple 9 to 5 job for the rest of dogs life. Dog is a reader before dog is a author and the reason why dog got into writing was because dog wanted to write a novel without all the things dog finds annoying. Dog spent the first year reading various novels and dropping various novels. Dog is all caught up and has to much free time on dogs paws. The first year that Dog took off was the very same year that qidan came out so dog was naturally overloaded with free chapters. But now that pemium exists dog naturally has to limit the amount dog can read. Dog is addicted to reading like my very own readers and can understand your frustrations for dog disappearing for 3 years.Dog decided that dog will go back to writing 2 years ago. Dog wanted a decent stockpile incase dog has any other emergency so dog didn't post for a year but then dog decided to change the point of view which took another year.Dog has a patreon page https://www.patreon.com/mclaindog but there isn't any tiers there or goals till dog gets a editor. My final goal is to release a chapter every other day, but as long as Dog gets a editor Dog will do two free chapters a week.Dog will probably also make a kofi for anyone who just wants to send dog a tip and can't afford to donate money monthly while maybe having bonus chapters if the tip jar gets filled.
