《DCO- Dungeon Core Online》Chapter 394

Chapter 394
“Well, that was anticlimactic.” Steve greeted James and Rue back in their favorite hot spring hangout on his fifth floor as the Skirmish finished. Following their complete route of the Dragon Dungeon’s forces, they’d quickly decimated the remaining players of the enemy dungeon. Against the might of the Warmonger Avatar, James’s Avatar, the Ghost Dreadnaught, and the Megalodonie’s Sharkienado, the enemy forces just didn’t have a chance in hell.
Their players at the very least, had fought till the bitter end. Meaning, they’d earned the respect of James and his players. And James’s players had seemed extremely thrilled by the experience, and were riding high on their Skirmish win. James did his best to remain smiling that whole time, even as the pit continued to deepen in his stomach. Who would offer him a challenge like BLANK had? Or, more so, had he been expecting too much from the Dragon Dungeon? Just because a Dungeon Core was high ranked, that didn’t mean they would excel in these types of situations, after all.
“Yeah,” Rue was already in her bathing suit and moving towards the springs, a painguin server bringing her out a beverage. “They were all bark and no bite.”
“They still killed you.” James said with a chuckle. After the brief moment of disorientation as he returned to his smaller, human form, he shifted into his bathing suit and began entering the welcome, soothing hot springs as well. “Though, your charge probably kept them from being able to win that battle.”
“You should be happy they didn’t have their fifth floor yet.” Steve said nonchalantly. “If they had, they would have been able to summon a secret boss that would make your Megalodonie look like child’s play.”
James rose an eyebrow at that. “Really?”
“Mhmm.” Steve nodded, “dungeons that are a single type really start to shine as they get stronger. Not only do their mobs continue to evolve and just become a helluva lot more powerful than what your mobs are capable of, but they get unique fusions and combinations of their World Bosses across their floors. The Dragon Dungeon type has an extremely neat fusion when they fuse World Bosses with a combined total of 9 heads. So, keep that in mind if you face them again.”

“Will do,” James said, filing that information away. He pulled up his menu as the Painguin server brought him a drink as well. He had some achievements and messages to go through, but he’d been holding off on looking at them until he’d returned. After all, it had taken less than 30 minutes to completely wipe out the remaining forces of the Dragon Dungeon when their Avatars had fallen, which had prompted the Skirmish to end shortly. James’s players, he knew, were rewarded with the maximum essence they’d have gained had they lived the full 6 hours and were likely now back at the Warmonger station in the Dungeon Town, browsing what rewards and gear they could get.

Achievement Unlocked
Congratulations, you’ve won the Skirmish. You’ve gained 10 Skirmish experience. Your Skirmish level is currently 1. Ninety more experience needed to reach Skirmish level 2.
Just like the Dungeon Wars, the introduction of the Skirmishes had given him a new feature to level up. All the dungeon started at level 1 in the Skirmishes, and a win would grant 10 experience, while a loss would grant 5. As he leveled up his Skirmish level, he would gain access to additional buffs to apply to his players during the Skirmishes, as well as new features for the Warmonger, and new options with regards to Skirmish offensives and defensive buildings, and such.
That much had been made clear in the notes, but they hadn’t gone into further detail. They’d need to win 9 more skirmishes in order to hit level 2 and see what all came with it. And with a total of 14 skirmishes available per immersion, that would be a tall order. Especially considering as they continued on their skirmishes through the immersion, less and less of his top players would be able to engage in the battle, making losses a higher probability.
James pushed those thoughts aside, as he glanced at the achievements he’d gained. Experience wise, he’d gotten a good amount during the skirmish, and he was curious what the achievements would offer experience wise.
Achievement Unlocked- God Complex- Defeat an Avatar in a Dungeon versus Dungeon event without taking any damage.

Reward- 50,000xp, 5,000 resources, Unique Avatar Cosmetic Upgrade, Title: Untouchable
Untouchable- Negate first attack received per instance summoned on the Fields of Battle
He nearly pulled up the Avatar screen right then and there to see what the upgrade was. But he managed to resist. The achievement was impressive, but then again, the feat of defeating an enemy Avatar without taking damage was likely a difficult one to achieve as well. Still, he managed to restrain himself, and continued looking at the other two achievements. However, he must have made some sort of childish sound of excitement, because Rue was now at his side, her eyes wide as she read his messages.
Achievement Unlocked- Dungeons First Skirmish- Win a Skirmish Battle
Reward- 10,000xp, 500 resources
An achievement everyone would likely acquire during their first immersion with skirmishes available, it obviously didn’t offer the greatest in rewards. But hey, experience was experience.
Achievement Unlocked- Dungeoncide- Win a skirmish by killing every player on the opposing dungeon’s side.
Reward- 25,000xp. 1,250 resources, 5 dungeon tokens. Title: Slaughterking
Slaugterking- Gain .1% to stats per adventurer killed as an Avatar in a Skirmish. This buff resets upon Avatar death.
That title, James mused, might actually be worth it later on down the road. Though, taking off his experience boost would still be hard to argue. However, depending on the dungeon he was facing, a buff to his Avatar could very likely turn the tides. After all, if he could manage to take out 100 players in his Avatar, that would be a 10% increase to his Avatar’s stats. Which was nothing to sneer at. Especially given how boosted Avatar stats already were.
All in all, the Skirmish had, at the very least, provided him with another opportunity to engage with his players, and step foot within the fields of battle. Combined with the experience gain from the achievements, and the battlefield itself, he knew it would be an aspect of the game that would prove invaluable. Even more important though, was the fact it should, hopefully, help some of the other dungeons grow in power. Because while James didn’t want to lose his spot as number one dungeon, he did, at the very least, want to stand against foes who had a chance. Hopefully, they could keep up. Especially because, with the massive experience he’d just gained thanks to God Complex and Dungeoncide, he’d once again jumped in Ranks. At the very least…if he could jump at this level, others should, in theory, jump to Tier 5 quickly.
Glyax Tier 5 Rank 8 Dungeon
Mob Type: Random
1,352,726 xp
47,274xp to next Rank
147,274xp to next Tier
Resources: 9892 of 12000
Currency: 54 copper 73 silver 10 gold 14 platinum
Dungeon Tokens: 42
Passive 6xp per hour
16 resources per hour
Thanks to that Skirmish, James now had two more upgrade points to apply to his fifth-floor mobs, and boss mobs. Additionally, he had a good chunk of extra mob points to spend to further improve his fifth floor. Meaning, it was time to really start looking over that floor, and getting it set up. Given his sudden wealth of resources, he figured it was a good time as well to blow some dungeon tokens, and really spice things up appearance wise.
After all, if there was one thing James knew he could lose himself in for a couple of hours, it was improving his dungeon for his players. And, he was really excited, because based on what he could tell on the Fields of Battle from his players, as they fought and grew, it was that he would soon begin having many, many more players taking on not only his fourth floor, but finally braving the icy cold of his fifth floor, to reach the fabled safe zone. And these mobs, were mobs he’d been dying to watch in full action. He could hardly wait.
