Chapter 384
Achievement Unlocked – Athenian Might – Utilize ship based units in a Dungeon Versus Dungeon event
Reward – 10,000 experience, 5,000 resources, 4 Dungeon Tokens, Title: Themistocles
Themistocles- Grants all Naval based units within your Dungeon during Dungeon Versus Dungeon events +5% to their stats.
James read over the notification again, tempted to attach it. However, the extra 1% experience gain he got from his Highlander Title was invaluable, especially considering they were in a skirmish right now. It was peak experience gaining time. And sure, while boosting the ships could help him kill more, he highly doubted it. After all, the moment the Dragon Dungeon players saw what James saw, he had a feeling the battle was going to shift to their side of the fields of battle.
Speaking of what he was seeing…the moment their five minutes were up, James’s players, with Rue in tow, had made their way immediately to the open waters. Practically everyone taking part in this skirmish had spent a good amount of time on James’s fourth floor, and as such, had leveled up their ships. Now, the waters brimmed with ships, as at least 100, probably close to 200 of the massive, aquatic vehicles, floated lazily out to sea.
Each ship, James knew, provided various bonuses to their players, and had also been crafted by each adventuring party to highlight their strengths. The lead flag ship, of course, was Boaty McBoat Face, with The Black Pearl serving as its escort. Rue’s massive avatar had, amusingly enough…commandeered a couple of ships to serve her purpose. Her Avatar, after all, at Avatar Research level 7, was currently 35 feet in height. As such, she was atop two ships, that players were carefully navigating and had lashed together, to serve as her own personal transportation team. Considering the makeup of those two parties, James figured they didn’t mind. They were all melee classes, and James had a feeling they revered the Kratos classed God Killer as their own personal mascot.
Speaking of Avatars…James realized almost instantly that because Avatar Research 7 had finished, his Avatar now not only had access to his fourth-floor mobs, but also his fourth floor gear. A fact that he’d remembered because he’d noticed Rue had upgraded her own personal armor set, to mimic that of a pirate. So now…the White Beast of Chaos was wearing a…somewhat revealing pirate outfit, riding atop two ships, while currently clutching her lighting calling staff from her Kratos class. In other words, she was a literally storm goddess might wise.

Looking over the battlefield, watching his armada make its way across the open ocean, James couldn’t help but feel his own excitement rising. Sure, the skirmish had just started, but he knew first contact was going to be explosive. The Dragon Dungeon, with their war declaration on James’s dungeon, had been extremely flashy. They would need to follow up that declaration with something equally epic, otherwise their challenge and threat would seem halfhearted. Considering James was currently live streaming everything to the other dungeon cores, the Dragon Dungeon, would at the very least, need to do something.
Meanwhile, mid-stream, as he waited eagerly for some sign of the enemy, James updated his own Avatar. Mutli-tasking in this regard wasn’t terribly difficult, because he’d already figured out the gear he wanted from the fourth floor, and the mobs he’d likely be summoning. That left simply selecting a new skill unlock, because he’d yet to actually assign that from when he hit level 6 in Avatar research, and waiting patiently for Avatar Research 8 to finish, so he could choose a new class or multiclass option and gain another skill point.
For his current Artemis class, he’d picked up a new pirate styled longbow made from the spine of a sharkie, as well as sharkie tooth arrows, though the permanent transmog for his Avatar’s bow kept it looking like his special bow. His Avatar was also now wearing a long pirate styled trench coat, under which he had leather armor crisscrossed with skulls and bones, crafted from a mixture of sharkie skin and Crabz carapace.
Skill point wise, was a little more difficult to choose from. He’d been toying with two different options, and still wasn’t sure which would be the best to utilize. The first one was Upgraded Summon. It stemmed from his summoner tree, and would grant him the ability to summon mobs with upgraded features. These features, he would get to assign, meaning he could technically summon different styled upgraded mobs than what he had in his dungeon. Meaning he could…finally, have the fire breathing Godzilla style dickens that he’d always been tempted to look into.

The other skill though, came from his Artemis class. And while individually not as great as being able to summon upgraded mobs it was still a powerful skill. Combine that with the fact that his research was steadily working its way towards Level 8, and he figured he could possibly choose the Artemis styled skill now, and not be out too long of a wait for Upgraded Summon. That being said, he also figured, depending on what his next multiclass turned into at Avatar level 8, there was a good chance he would never get upgraded summon if he didn’t choose it now.
James glanced at his research tab, curious about that upcoming timeline, and wondering even more so, about what would happen when his Avatar research hit level 10. Steve had mentioned something special happened at that point for each research option, and it was still an ever present wonder. After all, 10 was usually a benchmark skill level for most things, and some game systems even had 10 being the max, which would unlock an ultimate or special style bonus.
His final decision on the matter was the fact that even though Avatar Research towards level 8 had been started around 8am Sunday morning, it was a research that would take 1536 hours, before any debuff time had been applied to it, to complete. As such, even though it was now 0100 Monday morning, meaning Avatar research had been running for 15 hours of real world time, equating to 360 hours of research time, that put it still at over 1,000 hours till completion. Meaning, 41 total hours of real world time before level 8 finished.
Because of that, James doubted he would have level 8 before the next dungeon wars started. And if he was going to be using his Avatar a lot in skirmishes, he needed to be able to be as flexible and prepared as possible. Meaning, Upgraded Summon was the more powerful skill. Though it was a painful choice…especially as he read the Artemis Skill one last time.
Lunar Blessing- The Goddess of the Hunt blesses those around her, empowering them with Lunar Blessing, while her blinding light targets those who stand before her.
Upon Activation, this skill will bathe an area equal to level x 10 feet around the user.
Allies within this area will gain +5% max HP regeneration per second, and +10% to their other stats
Enemies within this area will gain a Lunar Burn Debuff, decreasing their line of sight by 20%, and granting them an additional 25% to being inflicted with ailments.
This ability lasts for 30 seconds and has a 10-minute cooldown.
This ability boosts all other Artemis skills by 100% during this time.
It was so, so tempting. But, while James could imagine the impact it would have on the battlefield, and he liked the idea of being a party buffer, his varied array of mobs was still the better choice. Plus, as he watched the armada continue its way out into the larger, open ocean, spreading out in a similar manner to the E.I.C. fight James had watched just the other day, he knew it was the right choice. Especially because he had the time, right now, to begin assigning the new and unique skill tree upgrades to his summons, while he waited to see just what type of move the Dragon Dungeon and its players would do.
Whatever it was, James couldn’t help but feel slightly sorry for them. After all, whoever made themselves visible first, to the naval fleet spread out on James’s side of the battlefield, was in for a very, very, bad day.

A Virtual Invasion
An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

BladeMage
Arenya Azural, a dragon-blooded farmer from a small town in the middle of nowhere, always dreamed of being a great hero, battling demons and monsters as a force of magic and power. Now her dream has a chance to become reality - she's a new student at Ba'al Cedric's Academy of Adventurers, a university for warrriors and heroes to learn to battle against the surprisingly amicable demon armies of the neighboring country in an endless war nobody really remembers the point of by now. She's also a BladeMage - an exceedingly rare and exceedingly difficult dual class that few have ever managed to succeed in, but those who have gain immense power. Arenya has a long road ahead of her, with rival students, duels with demons, and a host of benchmarks she must pass in order to keep her scholarship. Will she make it to level 100 and beyond, or die too many times and be forced to return home, tail (literally) between her legs to a life of farming and dreaming of adventure? BladeMage is a LitRPG with a lighter focus on stats. It features battles, leveling up, giant monsters, a bit of fanservice, and more. [Update: The LitRPG elements are proving themselves relatively unimportant as I continue to write. They may be dropped entirely, in which case I will change the prior chapters as well as update this description.] Content warnings: As a story featuring lots of fighting, there will be blood and death. However, since characters rarely die permanently, this will not be a hyperviolent story with extreme gore for the sake of it. Some sexual content and fanservice may be included, but this should remain firmly at the PG-13 level and there will be no sexual violence of any kind. The Cover: Someone suggested that I should have a dragon girl with a miniskirt on the cover. I can't draw and I don't know who to ask or commission, so a few minutes in the GNU Image Manipulation Program and the masterful cover above was created! Please feel free to use your imagination to see a gorgeous half-dragon with azure hair, wings, and a tail, holding a lightning-infused sword while fighting demons.
