《Tabula Rasa》Chapter 24: Good Behavior

“We don’t have much time, S-767,” The voice of a woman whispered to Visette.
It was familiar but very distant in a way. When Visette was still kept under stasis in the Minerva Laboratory, she was fully conscious but he had no understanding of what was going on. However, her mind still functioned and words were nothing more than sounds to her and those sounds filled her with fear but the voice she heard now...It was one of the sounds from that time. The only difference was the fact she could understand the words perfectly.
‘She is speaking to me.’ Visette thought to herself. She had the disembodied feeling of drifting in some endless pool and her vision was filled with an endless darkness that made the words resonate even more.
“I don’t know what will happen after you grow, but you have to listen to me...If there comes a time where you’re able to discover the files about your birth, know that they aren’t true. Your parents weren’t-”
“Ah, Dr. Hagen!” The voice of a spry old man interrupted the woman’s low whispers.
“Oh, Dr. Shrencard...I didn’t know you were coming by the laboratory today.”
“Please, just call me Ivan. And you know how the board of directors can be, always the desire for progress never the thought of cost.” Dr. Shrencard laughed to himself and then the room went silent.
Footsteps began moving toward Visette and the old man spoke up once again.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?”
“I’m sorry?”
“To see something you created take shape, I mean. I'm willing to bet that you see her as a daughter, Dr. Hagen.”
“No, that isn’t allowed-”
“Please, there is no need to lie to me. I too feel the same way about some of my other projects so there is no reason for me to report a fellow colleague of mine for being passionate about something they created. Really, the board of directors is completely mistaken to impose such harsh restrictions and practices. Though, I suppose that after the Daltroy incident it makes sense. Still, I find it normal to care about our creations.”
“...But I didn’t create her.” After Dr. Hagen spoke, she pressed her hand against the glass.
“Ah, yes. You didn’t create her from scratch, that is true. But understand that something new was indeed created...Your own little Angel of Death.”
“Excuse me? What do you mean by that?”
“Forgive me, I forget that you aren’t allowed to know the specifics of the Blue Swan Implant. Let's see, If I were to explain it properly...The original implant-”
“You mean the Blue Dove?”
“Yes, the Blue Dove. It was ambitious at the time but it was ultimately a very weak model. S-767 would, at most, be able to lift a few things with her mind but that’s it. If it was compared to the Blue Swan Implant inside of her currently…” Dr. Shrencard trailed off with a laugh. “Well, Oppenheimer put it best, did he not?”
Dr. Hagen became silent as her hand slightly trembled.
Dr. Shrencard placed his hand on the glass as well and spoke once more. “An immortal being with a great potential for destruction. Tell me, Dr. Hagen...How does it feel?”
“How does what feel?” Dr. Hagen asked reluctantly as she pulled her hand back.
“To be the mother of the closest being to a God in existence?”
…
A strange ringing sound shocked Visette awake and she sat up immediately. An aching pain assaulted her head and her previous dream became foggy. She gathered herself and planned on analyzing her dream more thoroughly until she realized the ringing wasn't from her head but from the facility.

Someone had set an alarm off, hence, the blaring security system and red warning lights that flashed throughout the entire facility. Visette reinforced glass cell showed thin cracks throughout its surface and two handprints could be seen on the door.
She climbed out of her cot and moved forward to investigate when she noticed that the guard assigned to watch over her at night was motionless on the floor. She concentrated her vision and found that she could see his bloodshot eyes and foam dripping out of the side of his mouth.
The red warning lights flickered off and the regular lights began buzzing before power was somewhat restored.
Visette was still confused by the situation so she sat down and crossed her legs. She sent out a psionic pulse and found multiple entities making their way toward her. She sent a brief glance toward her cell door and found it was unlocked but decided to stay put.
“Come on, this way!” A man’s voice could be heard. The metal doors that separated sections of the prison were pried open and someone stepped into Visette's area.
A rough looking man with a thick beard and a muscular physique wearing a grey jumpsuit similar to Visette appeared. Even more astonishing, he opened the locked door with his bare hands indicating he was a beyond the level of a type-3 strength abnormal.
“Real good job, Bear. All that strength you bragged about and the only reason we’re finally able to escape is after a lucky power outage.” A young girl, only a few years older than Visette, appeared at his side patted him on the back. Her long hair was dyed an eye-catching pink.
“Shut up, Kitty.” The hairy man growled angrily as they entered Visette’s section.
There were a few other people who joined the conversation, all with, strange nicknames.
A short-haired man with shifty eyes and twitchy hands called Rodent. A blonde woman with uneven bangs who went by the name of, well, Rabid. And lastly, another man with neat brown hair and sharp eyes who went by the name of Hawk. He carried the air of a leader around him as the others constantly glanced at him, showing they were relying on him to escape.
Following behind them was a group of normal prisoners who simply tagged along without a better alternative.
After they entered Visette’s section of the facility, Hawk spotted the dead guard and looked at Vis curiously.
“What’s this? She's a cutie.” Rodent snickered while grinning at Visette.
“You’re disgusting,” Kitty spat.
“I didn’t mean it like that.” Rodent raised his hands defensively but it only got an eye roll from Kitty.
“Oy, did you kill him?” Bear interrupted while approaching Visette’s cell. He noticed the cracks on the surface and tapped the glass. “Hmm...This is some damn strong stuff. Normal bullets wouldn’t cause this much damage.”
Visette ignored him and paid more attention to Hawk who stole a keycard and a gun from the dead guard on the floor.
“Hey! I’m talking to you!” Bear slammed his fists on the glass when he noticed Visette wasn’t paying him any attention.
“Easy, Bear...This girl has a high-priority designation which means she's a pretty important person. Say, do you want to come with us, girl?” Hawk offered while looking at Visette with interest.
“No,” Visette’s refusal was short and clear without a second of hesitation.
The random group in front of her didn’t have anything to offer and there chances of survival seemed low. Visette guessed that there would be a team of soldiers making their way to her at this very moment. Additionally, the training she just started was incredibly beneficial to her and before it was finished she wouldn’t think about escaping.

“No?” Rabid repeated with a grimace. She seemed to take Visette's disregard personally.
“Well, what if we want to take you?” Hawk inquired.
Visette stared at him for a few seconds before calmly climbing to her feet. “It would be illogical to attempt it.”
“What?” Bear asked cluelessly.
“It's stupid...She’s saying it would be stupid to try,” Kitty elaborated.
“Who the fuck are you calling stupid?” Bear started to get riled up but Hawk tapped him on the shoulder and he immediately calmed down.
“Hey, the first five of you that can restrain her can come with us.” Hawk pointed the stolen pistol at the crowd of prisoners trailing behind him.
Six people immediately rushed out, pushing past the others.
“One too many.” Hawk yawned as he lazily pointed the gun and fired. He didn’t even look but he hit his mark perfectly, killing the extra prisoner who stepped out.
“Show off,” Kitty mumbled.
The prisoners who wanted a free ticket out were now too scared to follow the group of Abnormals. Though the five who stepped out were comparatively more calm.
“Bring her out and let’s go.” Hawk gestured with the gun.
Five men cautiously walked forward and swung open the glass door. The first one entered Visette’s cell and she immediately attacked. She grabbed his arm and pulled him forward before tripping him with her leg and stomping on his throat. A loud crunch was emitted from his body but she wasn’t done. Vis grabbed his shirt and tossed the lifeless body out of her cell.
“Oh!” Hawk exclaimed in surprise. “Don’t go in one at a time or you’ll end up like that guy.”
The four rushed in and tried to overpower Visette but she responded even quicker. The first one who squeezed in had a fist driven into his stomach before being pushed to the glass wall. One of his friends tried to save him but Visette kicked his kneecap causing it to snap and bend the wrong way. Returning to her original target, she performed a quick flurry of punches all targeted at his vitals. He gripped his throat and slid down against the glass wall while coughing hoarsely.
The man who had his leg broken by Visette was even more surprised when she wrapped an arm around his neck and squeezed until it broke.
“Bitch!” One of the last two cursed as he swung at Visette. She countered it by throwing him over her hip and stepping on his throat. He writhed for air and tried clawing at her legs but she used her free foot to crush his arms and without a way to resist his neck was immediately broken.
Her eyes were locked on the remaining man who backed out of the cell cautiously.
“That was...disappointing, to say the least, but what can you expect from normal people?” Hawk pressed the gun to the back of the retreating man’s head and shot him.
Visette ignored Hawk’s cold-hearted display and tossed the corpses out of her cell. But as soon as she was about to shut the door, he pointed the gun toward her.
“Another illogical decision.” Visette looked on emotionlessly.
Her psionic power began to spread as she prepared to kill everyone. To stop Hawk from firing his gun she would have to expose her psionics and doing so would put her at risk of discovery should anyone survive. Only by killing all the witnesses would she remain uncompromised.
Hawk narrowed his eyes before he felt goosebumps cover his entire body. It wasn’t just him, but everyone else who was standing in the room felt it. They felt that if Hawk pulled the trigger something terrible would happen.
“Just a joke,” Hawk said with a dry smile. “Abnormals need to stick together, you know?”
He lowered the gun and the deathly still feeling disappeared as Visette retracted her psionic power and closed the reinforced glass door.
“If you ever decide you don’t want to be trapped like an animal, come to the City of Freedom.”
“...That’s a dumb name,” Kitty whispered.
Hawk cleared his throat and ignored her. "As a show of faith, I’ll leave you with this access card. I’m sure you’re more than capable of leaving on your own.”
Hawk swiped the keycard, unlocking the door, before sliding the card into Vis’ cell and leaving with his small group behind him. As soon as they left, the door let out a loud click indicating it was locked.
Visette looked at the access card once before crossing her legs and closing her eyes.
There were about two dozen prisoners who stood in the corridor, unsure of what to do.
“Hey, can we...uh...can we use the card?” A man asked weakly.
Visette ignored them so they took it as her giving permission but when one of them approached she opened her eyes.
“No,” Visette refused.
“Fuck that! We’re really asking a little fucking girl for her permission? Just because she beat up, what, four people? Even if she’s an abnormal there are more of us than her.” A man who was clearly more reckless than the others tried to incite them to attack.
Visette felt that there was only one way to truly solve the problem the prisoner presented and stood up once more.
“See, she knows what type of situation she's in-” Just as he was about to continue Visette raised her hand slightly and the door that was pried open by Bear slammed shut on its own.
“The fuck?” Someone cursed as they jumped away from it.
“Forget it, the locks must be resetting or something...What’s important is that we get that card.” A prisoner said while watching Visette.
Surprisingly enough, she stepped out her cell. At the same time, a faint blue glow began to surround her body and a closer look showed that a blue light was shining within the depths of her pupils.
“...What the fuck?” That was all the man who tried to incite everyone was able to get out. Visette raised her hand and his body rose into the air before he crumpled like a ball of paper. She waved her hand again and he was tossed to the side like trash.
Dead silence descended on the room as everyone tried to comprehend what just happened. The idea of telekinesis didn’t exist on Novo Prime so seeing it performed was both mystifying and frightening.
“W-What...What are you?!” Someone shouted but Visette didn’t answer she only walked forward with her fists clenched.
She finally had a chance to see how much her psionics had truly grown and she guessed there would be little repercussions if she killed them.
As Visette closed in, the prisoners showed pale faces and some even began screaming in terror.
…
“Let’s go!” Lyn shouted as she led a team of soldiers into the detention facility. Trucks mounted with machine guns were sat outside and a perimeter was drawn with soldiers and the New Mayhall security waiting on standby.
Lyn wore black fatigues under her field equipment and showed a serious atmosphere. She didn’t want to think that Visette was the cause of the incident but the ankle locator placed on Visette had lost signal for some reason. The strange power surge as well as the destroyed locator seemed to be related in her mind.
“Damn it.” Lyn felt the urge to smoke grow even more. The team she led cleared the initial areas of the facility, killing any prisoners that were caught roaming until they stumbled upon the location Visette’s cell. A blood smeared handprint obscured the view behind the door and the lights inside the room flickered on and off, making it even harder to see. She looked at the destroyed keycard slot and clicked her tongue.
Lyn pressed the walkie talkie attached to her chest and began speaking. “Command, I need an entry team or some equipment to pry open a door.”
[Copy.]
After a few seconds of silence, the walkie talkie buzzed.
[An entry team is on the way.]
The walkie talkie went silent and Lyn began pacing around while waiting for someone to arrive. Within a few minutes, a team came in and got to work on opening the door. The metal door was pried open and team rushed into clear all angles but soon stopped. Lyn was nervous and didn’t want to enter so she stood outside, waiting for confirmation. The thought of Visette planning an escape while Lyn began to open up to her made the latter feel sick.
“Captain O’Hara...You should come in and see this for yourself-” A soldier stumbled out and retched loudly, puking on the floor.
Lyn put away her auto-rifle and stepped in only to see a horrific sight. Each flicker of the lights illuminated the room and showed of the splatters of blood staining the walls. Corpses were spread out all over the room, some that had twisted necks, some covered in blood and bruises, and others with bodies that contorted strangely. The unbearable stench of blood and death filled the air creating a stuffy atmosphere.
“Shit.” Lyn muttered before turning to Visette’s cell only to see the girl sitting inside. Her white hair and her formerly grey colored outfit were both stained with blood.
“Hello, Lyn.” Visette stood up and greeted Lyn with her usual mechanical voice.
Drops of blood fell from Visette’s knuckles in a strangely rhythmic pace only to hit the floor with a light tapping sound.
“I did not escape when the opportunity presented itself. Can I expect to receive a reward?” Visette asked.
Lyn unconsciously reached for her cigarettes and after finding that she had none, she began to regret that she tried to kick the habit.

8 182Modded Skyr*m: Real Life Edition
It seems that I died while I was playing VR Skyr*m. The next thing I knew, I was standing in front of the middle-aged man who called himself The Overlord of Dremora and Dragons. He told me they were releasing Skyr*m: Real-Life Edition. However, you have to be dead first to play it, and I was chosen as a 'beta tester' of sorts. I found myself in a semi-realistic (thanks to mods) world, and I want to have fun and relax for the rest of my life, and maybe get back to Earth. There's just a small *RAWR* problem. Setting: This happens within the world in The Legend of the Fake Hero, specifically two arcs from now. About: I am writing this for fun as a side project. I intend this to be semi-interactive as I will have polls where readers can influence the book's direction. I have the final say because I believe that too many cooks in the kitchen are not a good thing. The plan is to write it in parts that are around 1-2k words. Typically around every 3 to 6 parts, they will be combined into a finalized chapter and re-edited for a smoother read. Release schedule: When I feel like it. I'll be more inclined to write if there is more interaction, both in comments and polls, towards the story. However, I will be focusing on The Legend of the Fake Hero because that is something I own entirely and enjoy. I will try to do consistent uploads. Disclaimer: This work falls under fair use as it is a partial parity, does not affect the value of the original work, is an original story within the setting (within my setting), and is not being sold. All IP belongs to their respective owners (including myself). Currently uploading on Scribble Hub and Royal Road under the same username.
