《Mosquito Hivemind Hell-Bent on World Domination (or Annoyance)》9: An evil plan must be formed in order for the evilly self-proclaimed evil villain to be evil!

Finally! After all this time, I have found it! The evil lair of my dreams-!
I had almost forgotten that this modern, unseeming city had a harbour at all. After all, I have never had any business there, nor does anybody in the harbour have any business with me. That is, until this very second. The area right next to the harbour is of the industrial kind, with brick buildings hiding businesses you've never so much as heard of.
Most are in use to some extent, but I'm sure that some remain unused, or abandoned, the latter of which is even better. Sure, having a modern lab is very evil-scientist-esque, but you know what's even better? Sneaking into an abandoned facility and keeping it for yourself, without anybody so much as knowing you're there.
And I believe myself to have found a perfect facility for my evil deeds. If feels a bit roomy, especially since I won't be furnishing it with anything, but it does mean that if I ever decide to steal things using mosquitos, I'll know where to put it. Not sure what I'd steal, but that's for another day, a day that will be glorious!!
For now, I just need to get myself settled. I haven't received any payments from any Vampires yet, but they should start rolling in quite soon, and when they do, I won't hesitate to create an army, even stronger than before!! Oh, and strengthen myself, of course. Considering how much Blood capacity I have, getting my stats into the triple digits should be a breeze.
Ah, I hear a buzzing! Turning my head to a window of the facility, I notice a Vampire (of the mosquito kind, not a real one, although that would have been far more endearing), trying desperately to get in through the closed window.

...This will be a problem. I got in through an open window on the second floor, but the main door to this place is shut tight, sealed up with chains and a heavy lock. Nothing in the stats speaks of objective strength, but I don't doubt that a high enough level of noise cut through it, as sound is known to do.
But that is far into the future. For now, I shall settle to direct my dear underling to the upstairs.
After a few helpful pointers, the Vampire finally enters, seemingly a bit flushed at having to be directed inside. Nevertheless, he hands over the Blood with little fuss and flies off into the night day once more. I could probably use this Blood to already recreate some form of bodyguarding, but I'll save that for the next Vampire. For now, I simply copy and paste my last order into this one, effectively doubling my forces.
Aaaaand off they are. Very good. No, very EVIL!
Ah, I feel unfulfilled. I wish more of my work involved sucking blood myself, seeing my hapless victims get frustrated at trying to catch me, to eventually succumb to the inevitability that they would have to stay up all night, scratching up wounds everywhere, only to spend the next day licking said wounds...
But, alas, it is a mere fantasy. Once I'm great and strong and powerful, I shall surely indulge myself in chaos! However, for now, order is a must.
Oh! Speak of the devil, another Vampire! Come in, come in my dear underling. Hand over the Blood and no one gets hurt.
That would be another 1000 Blood to add to the-,
2 Levels gained
-My, what a surprise! My other underlings must have found some large prey and killed it off! How delightful, I'll be sure to stop by the corpse once I've got the army fully designed. On the topic of my army, I spend about half of the Blood creating more forces, and the rest... Purely on bodyguards.

You may call me paranoid, but after that encounter with that dastardly toad, I shall never again be cought dead with anything less than twenty Vampires and sixty Bloodsuckers! I love mosquitos, but if I ever get attacked by an actual threat that I cannot run from, I need actual forces to defend me.
Hrm. Perhaps I should invest in always having about 100 Blood in storage? That way, if I ever get attacked, I can put of a smoke-screen of sorts, composed of at least 50 normal mosquitos. Not even an elephant would ignore fifty mosquitos, all trying to get into his eyes and ears and nose!
Perfect, perfect...
With my new bodyguards, I start to simply sit around, letting the Blood roll in. After just an hour or so...
All mosquitos under control

-As you can see, things are still very much in the palm of my hand, but to any outside authority, it might seem as if my power is getting a bit... out of hand. I fear nothing but my own power. And even that isn't much, like it's hardly even a semi-phobia. More like a knowledge that I should fear it, but no actual emotion.
Yeah. With this much, I certainly have time and power to invest in bitcoi-, er, excuse my crass language, stats. Somehow, this process of gaining strength has become weirdly industrialized. Gain underlings, gain stats, gain levels, evolve, repeat. Somehow, I feel like I'm missing something, some essential piece to boing a villain...
Ah. Oh, yes. How have I not noticed it before-?
The evil plan! The grandiose reveals of strength! The teasing and taunting and-,
And the heroes. If there are villains, there must be heroes. And if there are heroes, I must find them, and make their lives a living hell. It is necessary character development, and in an easy and modern world like this, they sorely need it! Yes, yes...
I need to do a heist. I don't care if what I steal is something trivial like jewellery or money. I need to put myself out there to be noticed, and only under the gaze of frightened civilians can I truly enact my evil!
It's all coming together.
But first, I need to increase my stats and perhaps, just perhaps, evolve once more. One more time. Being a villain is neat and all, but I don't want to be some one-off monster-of-the-week type deal, no... I shall be the main villain! I shall pull at the strings of the plot in the first few seasons, introduce a villain that seems like the main villain, only to then take their spotlight, forcing said villain to work together with the heroes in order to take me down!
...And it shall be glorious!!
Around me, my attentive bodyguards clapped and did a little bow. I cough into my hand.
Err, th-, thank you.
...But I'll need to steal something more mosquito-like, something a mosquito would want...
Ah.
Oho.
Blood. From a blood bank.
...Genius!

Project TheirWorld: Book Two - Tatterskin
**IMPORTANT: Because I am trying to reconcile some of the consistancy issues due to unexpected changes in how I've decided to write the story, this story is to be renamed/reordered. I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience. The Tutorial (completed, but unedited) is now to be concidered as Book One of Tatterskin. Tatterskin will contiune without real inturruption, though "Book Two" is really going to be the rest of the series with multiple volumes. Sorry guys! I've gone and brought the chaos of my real life into the storyverse T-T. ----- Dassah Graydon was just another human woman looking for adventure in her life when she moved to the academic floating continent, the Enclave. But while she wanted to escape her mundane reality, she quickly discovers that her life there – with the exception of all the crazy aliens and the unusual setting – was no different than her life on Earth had been. After spending a couple of months getting used to the place, she finally got the chance to play the popular new VRMMORPG, TheirWorld. As she is drawn deeper and deeper into the game, however, she begins to realize that her in-game life is far more connected to the happenings of reality than she could have imagined. Finding herself in the middle of a conspiracy that threatens her life and the lives of the people around her, Dassah must decide whether she allows herself to be a puppet, or she finds the determination to become the master of her own fate. This is a Project: TheirWorld story, and there is a prequel story, The Tutorial (completed, but unedited) but if I am doing my job, you won't need to have read that to enjoy this one. ____ The story will usually update once a week, sometime on Fridays JST. The updates on Royal Road L will be about 1 chapter behind my main WordPress site found here: Project: TheirWorld. This will change, as the WordPress site will have holiday releases and RRL will not. Thank you for reading, and the support! :) ____
