《Horizon》Chapter 44

Luna's announcement that the Wayshrine was not going to stay active caused some commotion and everyone started talking over each other. Luna kept answering questions to the best of her knowledge but soon left to check the Wayshrine and what other secrets it might be hiding.
Greetings Emiluna

Luna selected option number two and a small wooden table slid out from the wall, Luna being prompted to drop Dungeon Shards into it. With none on hand, Luna skipped ahead to option number three.
The class library turned out to be too much information for Luna to process. It did not simply display information, it required an input from Luna about which Class to look up. She tried looking for her current classes and received the familiar information, which she could also display when checking the Class details in her status.
Sylvan Pathfinder (Tier 2)
The Pathfinder is a free spirit. While born in the grove, they yearn to travel in the outside world and explore. They primarily use projectile weapons to strike from a distance. Their nature affinity grants them access to minor magical skills to aid with travel and survival.
Stats per level: +1 Stat (Fixed order: Dexterity/Strength/Vitality/Wisdom)
Skills: +1 Active Skill at level 2, level 5, level 10 and every 10 levels afterward.

Tier 2 Bonus: +1 Free Stat every 5 levels. +1 Active Skill at level 15.
Sylvan Stalker (Tier 2)
Not all Sylvan were made to only hunt animals. Some were made to hunt sentient beings or other monsters. They strike from the dark, preferring ranged weapons, but can also be deadly when close. They gain access to minor magic to aid with concealment.
Stats per level: +1 Stat (Fixed order: Dexterity/Strength/Vitality/Wisdom)
Skills: +1 Active Skill at level 2, level 5, level 10, and every 10 levels afterward.
Passive Skills: Grants [Silent Observer] and [Stalker's Precision] at level 1.
Tier 2 Bonus: +1 Free Stat every 5 levels. +1 Active Skill at level 15.
What was new, was a completely new section she could now freely view and it took her breath away.
Possible Class Upgrades
Only classes that have the basic Skill requirements fulfilled are visible, even if Skill level requirements have not yet been fulfilled.
Sylvan Deadeye (Tier 3)
The Deadeye is a class upgrade of the Sylvan Stalker. It focuses heavily on ranged combat, mobility, and removes any options of active melee combat Skills. In exchange, the Deadeye gains access to Improved versions of the normal ranged attack Skills. It keeps access to minor magic.

After checking the class details Luna went back to the overview in the class library and tried looking up other classes on a whim. Searching for Dryad returned some interesting results, one of them sounding very familiar.

Dryad Grovemother (Tier 5)
The Grovemother tends to her grove and never leaves it. They inhabit the deep woods and can appear anywhere in their domain. They give up their body and instead fuse with their sacred forest, becoming one with nature. They can control the forest as if it was their body and can only truly die if their core is destroyed.
Stats per level: +1 Stat Free Stat
Skills: +1 Active Skill at level 2, level 5, level 10, and every 10 levels afterward.
Passive Skills: Grants [Domain] and [Simultanious Thoughts] at level 1.
Tier 2 Bonus: +1 Free Stat every 5 levels. +1 Active Skill at level 15.
Tier 3 Bonus: +1 Passive Skill at level 25
Tier 4 Bonus: +1 Active Skill at level 20
Tier 5 Bonus: +2 Free Stat at level 10
After reading through the tier 5 class Luna felt very small and it was the point at which she realized just how powerful Everwood truly was. Previously she had only been a Dryad with a high level, but if this was her class, then her level was telling a whole different story. Primarily it told Luna that Everwood was very very old.
She skipped ahead to the next item on the list, which was Local Map. Upon selecting it she was informed that she was lacking the required Skill to interface with the map function.
The required skill to interface with the map function is missing. Please select Sylvan Mapping as your next Active Skill to gain access.
Just for the sake of completeness Luna selected the last option to view her current status, only to be surprised by her own status once again.

Luna was not even surprised by the stupidly fast experience gains anymore. They had traveled for barely 10 days at this point but her Pathfinder class was gaining experience for it at an astonishing pace. The lack of time to go and hunt or deadly confrontations with monsters on the other hand meant her Stalker class gaining considerably less experience.

What did surprise her was her language Skill doubling in Level, which must be related to her 'learning' the Sylvan Runic Letters. Not that she had done any learning, it had simply been dumped into her brain by her Ancestral Memories Skill, but it was nice to know that it still counted towards her Achievements.
When she dismissed the notifications Evelyn and Fiona were waiting for her outside the garden pavilion. Evelyn had deposited all of Luna's things on the ground in front of her.
"Luna, we are not going to return with you. Even if this was unplanned, it was the best thing that could happen to us. Everyone believes us on the new continent and now we're in the capital of Laven. I hope you are not disappointed." Evelyn told her, clearly conflicted about just leaving Luna.
Luna shook her head. "No, I don't think the new continent was a good fit for the two of you anyway. You need a stable environment to work on your alchemy. Where will you be going?"
"We will stay right here in the manor. I talked with Peter and he offered us asylum. Which is perfect for us. There is plenty of room, we can set up a lab and have a big city around us to buy ingredients." Evelyn said.
"Well, looks like I have to go through my things and leave some of them here. When you go back, can you tell Joan and Michelle that I need to speak with them? I need to go back soon, the wayshrine is losing Mana fast." Luna told them and started rummaging through her packs.
The awkward goobye over Evelyn and Fiona left and it only took a few minutes for Joan and Michelle to show up.
"Luna, you wanted to speak with us?" Joan asked her.
"Yes, I need to leave right now. The Mana in the wayshrine is dropping quickly and I do not know what level is required to power the teleport. If you want to come with me, go grab a backpack." Luna replied, at which Joan took off at a sprint to grab her gear and backpack.
"Anything else?" Michelle asked her.
"I think the new continent isn't new, in the sense that were are the first to walk there. We found this perfectly made road that is leagues above what human-made roads are, even here in the capital. The wayshrine sends out pulses of mana that clear everything on the roads, nothing bigger than grass grows on them. I think that place is really old and leagues above what humans ever managed to build. The wayshrine system seems to be made for or by the Sylvan, which is why I can use it."
"That explains a lot." Michelle said. "Evelyn and Fiona were curious about why you were able to use it, but I feigned ignorance. Ah, right. Evelyn told me to give you these." He pulled the Dungeon Shard fragment from his pocket and gave it to Luna, who stuffed it in a side-pocket of her backpack.
Luna had been sorting through the travel trunk and her two backpacks. The small one was emptied and was stuffed into another side-pocket of the big one. The extra bow was attached with her current one at the back of the backpack, the extra strings went deep into the backpack to keep them dry.
Luna was about to ask Michelle more about dungeons when Joan arrived again, huffing and puffing with her big backpack. "I am ready to go." She told them.
Luna nodded and shouldered her backpack, then waved for Joan to step into the wayshrine with her. "Anything else you need to know Michelle?" Luna asked, looking over to where he was standing just outside the pavilion.
"I have a thousand questions for you, but you won't be able to answer them. I will travel to the City of Gods and search the guild archives. Maybe I can dig something up. I will also try to transfer as much of the things stored and archived there over to this manor. The guild has some rough times ahead. I will investigate who can still be trusted and send them over on a ship."
"Alright. That works well, tell them to ask for William. He was one of the good guys." Luna replied and touched the tree on the wayshrine mural.
She quickly selected the Deepwood Crossing wayshrine. When she turned around the wayshrine was surrounded by a translucent sheen of blue mana. She could still make out Michelle outside, but he could not push his hands through.
Luna turned around and waited with Joan in the middle of the pavilion. As expected, the blue flash of mana appeared again and started circling them, until in a big flash they were gone and back at Deepwood Crossing.
"This is amazing." That was all Joan could say before she was violently sick on the stone floor. For some reason, humans were really affected by the teleportation. Luna herself only needed to close her eyes because of the bright flash but felt fine otherwise.
Luna walked to the portal and looked at the road outside. Everything was the same, nothing had changed. The quiet forest around them and three roads leading away in different directions.
After a short while, Joan joined her while noisily sloshing around water in her mouth to get rid of the taste in her mouth. Together they stepped outside and walked to the middle of the road. Joan needed some time to orient herself and take in the sights. She knelt and touched the surface of the road, marveling at it in the same ways Luna had just a day before.
"Joan, it is already getting dark. We should decide where we want to go, but I would suggest that we take a roundabout route back to the settlement. Find out if there are other interesting places around and then check back in with the settlers." Luna said.
Joan rose from the ground and looked back at the wayshrine. "It is amazing. I have seen these buildings in human lands. I never understood what they were. I wonder why there is not enough Mana around for them to work."
"Yes, that is a very good question. Right now it is not important. What do you want to do?" Luna asked her, a little miffed.
"I had not thought about it. It all happened too quickly. I'll just follow your lead." Joan replied.
That made things very easy for Luna. She headed back the same way they had arrived here, now following the road south. Joan caught up with her quickly and they followed the road towards the resting place Luna had spent the previous night at. Joan asked a lot of questions about Luna's experience on this continent. Luna activated the Safe Haven runes again at the campsite and at that point realized to her horror that without Evelyn she was now back to jerky and travel rations.

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
