《Clockwork》Volume 3 Chapter 10 Velodrone
Advertisement
It’s been a week already and the estimate for this town to be built is much longer.
The main reason is because of the huge amount of dungeons in the area.
The first problem we needed to do as soon as we arrived was to kill off the dungeon right in front of the gate. The area was cleared out thankfully but because of that the robot's had grown rather powerful. The numbers were also quite large so it wasn’t a matter of just walking in.
The first dungeon was a dungeon with robot raptor like drones.
About the same size as a prehistoric one, a meter tall and 5 meters long. The problem with these was that the structure was made of steel along with all the gears and so forth and they are fast. And I mean scary fast.
I dropped down an armed robot once to check their specs out. To say it was carnage was an understatement. They attack just like the velociraptor would, by ramming its body or using its claws.
It took two of them to destroy the robot without much trouble.
Since we couldn’t land I decided to throw downs some drones which survive the fall so I could scan them.
Obviously the raptor drones notice them and start to eat them up but not before I could do a basic scan of them.
NameMK1 VelodroneLevel150Durability:2300/2300
I frown at this, the level is high and from what I can guess there these are simple drones.
I was able to hide a few of my own drones and they were still watching. Like I had guessed some time later small chicken sized raptor of a similar model appeared. The difference was they they were quadrupeds and the tail worked like a crane to grab and carry stuff.
Name[/tds]MK1 Kimo Collector[/tds]Level80Health500
Even the collectors were quite high leveled to the point that they would take down many of the current leveled players which meant I won’t be getting any help from them any time soon.
Considering that, I felt that I would need to built really strong units for this.
Just before I could think of trying I heard a set of unknown heavy foot steps.
When I looked I saw a robot as big as Bulk but the normal brownish steel plate that signified the earth steel was much stronger here being almost dirt brown.
The robot had a large chest area, no apparent head with arms and legs which with a basic scan already pointed out several guns hidden within.
On the upper chest was a small round glass window and around it was a bulging area which sudden released air with a “PSHHH” and opened up.
What appeared was the all too familiar dwarf.
“Yo, so...mind if I take my new bot for a spin. This is a real combat model.” He said grinning.
I looked over the robot and sighed.
“Don’t...end up...like emperor...pilaf.” I said joking.
Any player would understand which is why bulk who was sitting nearby began laughing hysterically.
“Oi, oi midget, you're going to die just and get crushed just like that other blue midget from Dragon Ball.” bulk insulted the dwarf who simply scowled at him.
Yep, the suit of armor has a very distinct resemblance to the the original dragon ball mechs built by pilaf.
If the robot wasn’t so well armed which would seriously put that blue midget to shame I would be laughing as well.
Well I can’t complain much, Victor did help us fight the fishman and gained a number of levels from the time we spent fighting off the monsters

To tell the truth, everyone in my crew leveled up a lot.
For me with Asura always fighting I reached level 86 before we were finished. Nova reached level 89, Bulk went to 84 because he spent a few days off for tests in college, Brock is level 92 because he uses a lot of AoE spells and because he did several missions for land remodelling outside of the landscape which gave a large boost. The two will o wisps are level 87, Greer reached level 72 and Annabeth reached 70, they were constantly fighting so it was obvious it would lead to that. and lastly Victor reached level 80 because he was mining for the most part but because of it he got his hands on high quality ore and made a combat suit that would put him on par with a level 100.
Considering how our stats inflate a lot then if I compare him to me who is 6 levels ahead, when he let me see I would say that it would be equal to someone 2 levels ahead of me.
Looking at him and Bulk bicker I simply sighed and scanned the plate because the coloration looked strange.
Refined Earth SteelThe cores used core technology to refine the regular earth elemental core to a greater quality and as a result the steel made from the same amount of grinded core is that its is 3 times stronger than normal Earth Steel.
I knew that if I had veins it would be appearing on my forehead but what I did have was pipes and steam that was blowing full force in my rage.
At the sudden whispling of my pipes the others rushed over and Brock sprouted out of the ground.
“Hey what happened. What made boss so...ARGHH!!” He said before Asura grabbed him by the head and began to pressure his head with tremendous pressure.
“Is Victor...getting crystals!” I said in an expressionless tone but everyone knew that I was dead serious.
“Y-YES!! HE NEEDED TO MAKE HIS ARMOR!!! AAARRRAAHAH!!!” he said and I pressed harder for a full minute before letting go and turning to the dwarf.
“Remaining crystals and core...to my workshop later!” I said and he nodded vigorously.
“Nova.” I said addressing my little sister who was sitting a bit away watching. She stood up and walked over. “Get Strato up here.” I said in a warm tone towards her and she ran off.
“Bulk, Victor, you both fight.” I said simply and the two knew they would be scapegoats for now.
I have a robot bring up a large bomb similar to those we used to take out the pirates and wait.
The two who would fight head down below to jump out of the whale’s mouth which was open. We were floating about 50 meters above the clearing.
Soon Nova flew out of the whale’s mouth on Strato and circled around the whale before stopping and hovering in front of me.
I told her to go up a bit and installed it into the bottom of Strato.
“Nova, did you get a new message?” I asked her speaking clearly unlike how I do towards everyone else which made them narrow their eyes.
“Yep, it says, release missile, activate booster and activate missile? What does that mean?” she asked.
“Look, when you go to release the new toy you press the buttons in the order you just said ok.” I said making sure she was listening.
“OKAY~~!!” She said and played around by saluting.

I nod and have her go.
As soon as she was out of earshot I felt the stares of my crew.
“So~~~, missiles huh?” Victor said obviously annoyed at being left out.
“To strong...suicide to use.” I said with a black expression.
“And why do you speak so clearly with Nova and only in broken phrases with us.” Bulk said with a bit of anger and annoyance in his voice.
“Sister.” Simple and to the point.
They all sighed.
“Loli Siscon” Bulk said but the next moment he was being held by my almost over the edge of the whale.
“I’M SORRY I'M SORRY I DIDN’T MEAN IT!!! I CAN DIE FROM FALLING WRONG PLEASE NO!!!” He started to shout.
The scare tactic I use on Bulk has been rather varied recently. From being tied to Brock’s tail to this, or threatening to feed him to sky sharks or simply a good beating.
When he seem to momentarily learn not to call me that I tossed him back onto the whale.
"Go down...get ready...when missile blows...jump...3 robot knights...backup." I said and looked down again.
My scanner could only pinpoint my drones location and show the outlines of the enemy drones.
I wasn't showing it but in my head I was nearly drooling to get my hands on those drones.
Talk about strong scout unit, not only that, it doesn't have that much of an overly machine look. Instead, it looked like a clockwork animal like my own but I had scanned it and I would have picked it up if it had it.
That said, converting that drone into an animal too early would be bad since they are carnivores. I was glad when the wolves only ate up scrap and some vegetation but it was always close by when we were out fighting the fish monsters.
It's a good thing contaminated meat does not affect them. It's a good way to rid ourselves of spoiled meat in a way we don't lose materials.
Back to the starting battle.
Brock took his whale down to 15 meters and put it on the other side of the gate with the mouth facing towards the scrap yard.
Nova was flying around and when we signalled for her to start she flew once more around the area and turned to look straight towards the cave the dinobots were living in.
The cave itself was 100 meters away so as soon as she passed the whale and she tipped Strato to aim she released and activated the missile and boosters before turning Starto straight up and flying to safety.
The feeling us player get by watching that is a small air force fighter jet doing a risky maneuver.
Though I say that, I knew full well she was capable of it. Nova likes to play a lot of Strato and it got to the point early on that she made a skill for it. At this moment she is basic 8 in flying skill.
It looks like this.
Small Craft PilotBasic 8The skill for those who venture the skies on small crafts.
This skill improves you handling of a ship smaller than 2 meters long and makes understanding basic maneuvers and slightly advanced one, easier.
+15% better control of small crafts you are riding.
+10% better understanding of airborne maneuvers.
Yep, this skill was original to Nova but since trading Strato's plan's for Rust's codes I bet at least one or two others might have appeared.
Unless the rider is some army soldier from the air force, I doubt anyone but other children will be able to outclass Nova who has had a huge lead over them.
Then again, the skill rises when you try new things but since she is a child all I need to do is find a video with new types of tricks and have her try it.
Anyway, it is really impressive seeing the maneuver. When the booster in the back came to life the rock launched much faster than Strato's actual speed and flew in a straight line right into the mouth of the cave blowing up with a resounding BOOM!
The explosives were made from grinded refined fire core crystals and black powder mixed together.
The booster took a bit before I completed it because I needed to learn how to make it and it's still needs improving since I could only make a really shity one that could launch but could also fail to do so as well.
The fuel is obviously diesel fuel we use. As you can tell, not the best rocket fuel and I had to make a way for it to stay in a near liquid state for it to work instead of an oily state it normally is in.
The fuel is thrust really fast by a piston in the back pushing the heated oil liquid out pressurized before it is ignited.
It lasted only a quarter of the way before the fuel ran out but it gave enough thrust to increase the speed sufficiently since it already had a bit of Strato's speed.
As for the drones they were badly damaged and those to close were launched far away with broken legs or other parts crushed by the shockwave or explosion.
Those a bit further survived and soon were getting up.
It was then that Victor, Bulk and three Robot Knights jumped down with weapons armed.
Victors suit had two four barrel miniguns in the knuckles and a hand cannon inside the hand.
(think franky from One piece.)
From his back he could raise two smaller miniguns as well.
If something got to close he had armed himself with a pressure fist which had the glass balls behind the cannon while the piston to push out the hand was below and on the sides of the arm around the cannon. The top part of the hand was occupied so there was none there.
As for Bulk, he just ran throw the drones that survived or shot with the miniguns on his back.
When he stopped he pulls out the war hammer and began to swing around.
Just to make it clear, I took one of the few lightning core crystals and inserted inside the hammer after making a hollow space for it.
The thing discharges when it receives a spare so I also added a welder attached to it and a really small battery to cause the spark which is activated after receiving the first impact.
After the first hit, the steel hammer and metal bar used to hold it which is isolated with a rubber hose I found, was clad in sparks and as soon as it hits a robot the electric surge invades and toasts several parts and in some cases the brain itself.
In all, the twenty drone guards were reduced to scrap and quickly I jumped down and picked up the more intact ones.
Several dents and broken parts were on all of them but there was enough robots to scan and get a proper blueprint from and dismantle all of them to make a similar robot drone.
If we fought without ambushing them, we would probably have lost. We grab the bodies and return to Brock quickly just as a hoard pours out of the cave.
That said, we were safe from them because they don't have such a powerful suspension system that would allow them to jump so high up unless they jumped off a cliff.
Still, the number was rather nauseating. From a rough estimate I got from the scanner, at least 120 rushed out before stopping since we had retreated.
I could already tell this would take a long time.
So for the settlers, we planned on building on the outside part of the wall for this one.
We have plenty of mage that can use earth magic so expanding the rocky space we had wouldn't be a problem and the Undine can probably find locations where water rose close to the surface so we could build a few oasis around here.
We just had to be careful for possible monster attacks.
With plans for the first month being, destroy robot dino dungeon and expand the rock area and make a city wall, we let down the settles for that purpose and get right to it by sending Nova to do Geo Scans all over the area inside and out of the scrapyard.

Eldritch Entity On A Journey Of Self-Discovery
Shold'ler has made a reality before. It was pretty messy, the physics didn't work properly, and his designs were just terrible. This place has flawless physics, a whole set of natural laws, and the most detailed everything he's ever seen. The air moves sometimes (but not all the time), the grass has layers underneath it, and the trees sometimes have things living in them. All things considered... it's depressingly good. What's he supposed to do here?

Viceroy's Pride
This story could be about the Tellask Empire, ruler of a thousand suns and faced with imminent peril at the hands of the Orakh hordes. It could be about Paltai Amberell, the scion of a noble elven House, fallen upon hard times and seeking to find the key that will restore his family's name and save the Empire itself. It could be the story of his voidship, The Viceroy's Pride, powered by magic and crewed by a team of crack marines as they search for adventure and the solution to the Empire's myriad problems. Instead, this is the story of Daniel Thrush, human electrical engineer, befuddled researcher and survivor of the debacle that was first contact with a spacefaring civilization. Due to a combination of luck, magic, hard work, and more luck he is thrust into the center of events as Earth is shoved onto a much larger stage rife with semi-immortal elves and magical kingdoms that predate the Earthly invention of agriculture. Earth is outnumbered, and we have precisely one wizard. Dan. He's not very good at it, but he's going to have to learn in a hurry or watch everything he knows get torn apart by massive spacefaring empires straight from the pages of a fantasy novel. ---------- Some readers have noted that the MC tends to be weak willed and pushed around a bit. A significant portion of the story is his character growth into not being a pushover (i.e. him being passive is in the early chapters on purpose). I'm just including this caveat/warning to make sure that readers aren't surprised/upset and that they stick with it until he learns to stand up for himself. His arc begins to crystallize around chapters 25-27. If that's too long to wait, I get it, I'm just trying to do my due diligence and warn you that the character development is a bit of a slow burn. This is NOT a harem novel. Nothing against them, just not what it is. --------- Updates Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday Feel free to bother me on our discord- Discord!
