《Clockwork》Volume 3 Chapter 4 Core Tech
Advertisement
I arrive at the ship with a lot more movement than before. A few of the others have already woken up. Brock for one was up and had landed his while and left the mouth open which allowed the rest to move about.
I mostly ignore the movement from the clockwork we rescued and head inside. That is where I found Bulk and the two fire elementals laughing their asses off.
When I arrived I tapped him on his shoulder and drew their attention.
Bulk: ‘Ah! Techno. Look at this, your fake finally woke up its too funny.’
He pointed down and under his foot was the little ball.
I could feel a text connection coming from him so I connected.
Fake: ”GET YOU FAT LEG OFF OF ME YOU BASTARD!!! LET ME GO!!”
At once I started to laugh.
It took the others a bit by surprise.
Ena: ‘Wow, until now I only heard him laugh at this idiot when he was calling himself Techno. Did something happen.’
The female fire elemental asked while making a human form. She looked the torch from the fantastic four.
Techno: ‘Psychologist...helped some.’
Everyone’s jaw dropped at once.
Blaze: ‘You talked, but wasn’t it only to Nova that you spoke?!’
Techno: ‘Doctor...blocked text...towards crew. Must talk.’
Bulk: ‘Why is it broken up so much? Is your voice box broken?’
Techno: ‘Not...used to...openly speaking.’
They nodded understanding.
I then turned my attention to the ball under Bulks feet. I grabbed the ball and signal for bulk to lift his leg which he does and the fake tries to roll away but fails miserably.
Through the working text towards this idiot I start talking.
Techno: ”So, do you like the body I specially made for you. I spent a lot of time designing it. Now you can tell everyone you have a real Techno made clockwork body.”
Fake: ”FUCK YOU! I CAN’T EVEN SPEAK PROPERLY! GIVE ME BACK MY VOICE BOX AND MY BODY!!”
Techno: ”So you're bitching is about not having a voice huh. Well I can fix that. I found a good one that would work perfectly.”
I said that nonchalantly and pulled out a small back that looked similar to a voice box.
I sat down and let him open up before I grab from inside.
I bring out Yasha and open his arms revealing the many tools.
While holding him open Yasha quickly attached and installed the little box and was quickly finished.
Techno: ‘Done.’
I said and nodded with a grin on both bodies.
Blaze: ‘What did you add?’
Techno: ‘Ask...him.’
I said and dropped the fake.
He stabilized and opened up before spinning around and looked at me.
Fake: ”What did you do?!” Beep beep beep beep
The area was silent after hearing the beeps.
Fake: ”WHAT DID YOU DO!!!” BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!!
I lost it there and started laughing loudly. Both bodies fell over laughing while holding our gut.
Bulk: ‘YOU ADDED A BEEPER!!’
Techno: ‘Set to beep...when he text.’
I said through the moments I could calm down before the idiot beeps again makes me laugh more.
Soon the others began to laugh and made the idiot go crazy with beeping while he text.
After a while and everyone logging in I pass them the quest I got from Gaia.
Victor: ‘So, we take them there and drop them off and head off?’
I shook my head.
Techno: ‘Successful Setting...need village...basics.’

Blaze: ‘It’s manageable, we have two boss monster furnaces, as long as we get dwarfs that know how to make a blast furnace they can make do after its built and things are set up.’
Bulk: ‘How long would it take to build a complete blast furnace.’
Victor: ‘Problem isn’t that. First we need homes, then we need to find mineral deposits nearby for things like iron, copper, tin and coal which make many of the tools and gears we use. Then we need to build sentries and guards. Followed by jobs need to be made.’
Brock: ‘How will we manage all this. Rust makes things work here but he won’t be able to go there and leave here.’
Techno: ‘Needed to...speak with you...guys about trade. Strato...for Rust code.’
When I said that everyone looked confused.
Annabeth: ‘Its really hard to understand you when you speak broken up like that. Hold on, let me get a working monitor or something.’
She runs off and returns with an unbroken monitor. It had a receiver in it so when I connected the text feature worked.
Techno: Guess there are loopholes for everything. ”What I wanted to say was. I wanted your opinion on trading blueprints for Strato for a copy of Rust’s motherboard coding.”
Victor: ‘Why would we need him?’
Techno: ”I wanted to use his codes and make a management model clockwork used in all cities of our nation and works to effectively manage a village, town, city or nation.”
Bulk started laughing with Victor after reading the idea while the girls were with jaws dropped.
Techno: ”I didn’t trade immediately today because Strato has heavy fire power and it can cause a lot of trouble later on for us if it's given out”
Victor: ‘I doubt the turrets would be enough to allow them to trade somes codes but strato is much more valuable. An air unit can do wonders when fighting. Nova proved that far to clearly, Strato can out manuver all ships.’
Techno: ”So I can do it?”
They all agreed and I sent Asura to do the trade. With that I finished up the little meeting. I left the rolling moron to the others. They could trash him or what ever. I didn’t care but they couldn’t upgrade him.
The just left him after putting a limiter on his transmitter. He had to be near us to use it so this would keep him from “accidentally” leaking anything like tech and such, not like he was even allowed on the ship. He was dropped outside and not permitted in. I kept track of that by following his transmitter signal which I made different specifically for this reason.
I head into my workshop and pull out the strange core ball thing. I needed to be careful because it was strange. What I thought was glass was more like a film. Objects of certain size can pass in.
What I was curious was what would happen so I took some small scrap and put them in and watched carefully.
In the places that had the densest rust it broke apart faster and made a hold that spread out until the piece was destroyed. I noticed how there were particles floating around and how it all got concentrated at the ball in the middle.
Nothing in particular happened so I identified it and see that nothing changed, moved on to the next item.
I grabbed a trashed motherboard and put it in completely and watch as it is destroyed.

As I watch the particles float around I notice how it was concentrating on the core in the middle. Soon several lines that looked like circuits appeared on the film as well as the center.
I blink several times at the sudden change. I identify it to figure out what it is.
Unknown (10% complete)A new item recently invented and with unknown use. Research must be done to determine a proper name and proper use for this item.
Discovering the item can absorb small object that pass through the outer film it has begun to incorporate what it absorbs.
Current components: Metal scraps, broken motherboard
So what I discover gets added up into the description. Still, its incorporating what it absorbs, in other words this isn’t the only thing it's possible of looking like.
Since I added a motherboard and it reacted then it might end up a motherboard itself. This could be a huge discovery for sure but I don’t want to limit it to just this. Because of this I call out a few clockwork robots and have them begin making more.
For me though I focus on this thing. I add four more broken motherboard before the film blocks it out. The ball now looks like it has many circuits but is lacking many parts of one.
Thinking that, it might mean that the scraps are used for that. With that in mind I start dropping the scraps of many types from batteries to screws.
The batteries are broken up and form a new one which I scan specifically and find its strangely powerful. These are attached to the outer film as well as inner ball. When the ball finally reached 80% nothing entered it again. I was finding it hard and annoying but then I saw a wire enter it and figured that was it.
I stripped a few trashed clockwork of all wires and put them in. From the center ball to the outer film, small pillars of wires connected the two and I could see the energy start flowing. Mana from the core was being converted into electricity. Once nothing entered it again a message appeared.
You have invented a new item completely unknown to this world. What will you name it.
Techno: ‘Scan of item first.’
UnnamedA newly invented item. Made from a strange elemental core that was melted and mixed with molten Mana crystal. Afterwards the core formed a film and began assimilating any object that was placed within.
Through the assimilation of electronic and metallic parts the core has evolved into a motherboard for an unknown kind of machine and its potential is still unknown.
So it became a motherboard huh.
Techno: ‘Name it “Core Motherboard”’
It was an uncreative name but that is what it was, an elemental core that somehow became a motherboard.
I sit back and sigh. For two reasons. This was exhausting and Rust was even more annoying. Even with Strato on the table he didn’t want to give up his codes. He kept saying that he didn’t want clones but I swore and even signed a contract that I will slightly alter each robot's code so that don’t stay 100% like him.
It would be stupid not to change it since it would make a linked body for him if it was the same codes. If one body dies, his mind will go to the next body.
Cheat like yes but very annoying to say the least. That said, I think I need to do that one of these days for us. Keeping extra bodies is a good way to avoid death completely.
Delta: "You really are full of surprises Techno. I am linked to all clockworks right now but you are by far the most interesting. Not many of them actually don't know how to utilize their own race to the max yet you do it so naturally."
Techno: "It's a necessity for protecting my sister. To properly survive this wasteland planet we need technology so I will continue researching with all I have. Anyway did you put your little virus in this thing?"
Delta: "It's a program not a virus and yes it was integrated properly but the motherboard is empty without codes. Still, what I can guess is that this thing can grow. My own scans I can gather from this show that if you put in even a basic code system for this it will grow. By dropping any small material within this core it will digest it and make its own parts and soon grow into something new. If you give it a basic body like that ball thing you are using to torment your fake it would work as a good base for it. I think calling that a clockwork egg would be appropriate."
Techno: "Who knew that worthless idiot would make himself useful for once. Well can you design a basic tool gear for this thing. Something that can be like an small arm that can grab and weld. Also make a basic working code for it."
Delta: "Shouldn't be hard. I will call you when it is done. I will upload the design as well. Oh one more thing. This core thing you made. I want you to research its full potential, not just mechanical but magical. Mix it up machine and magic and all that I want this researched to its fullest. This could lead to a breakthrough in clockwork and other technology. Im sure with this you could even make a greater type of synthoid."
Mission: Clockwork Revolution
By discovering a new strange core that assimilates what it is placed inside you have possibly opened the door of evolution to the clockworks.
Delta, the god of the artificial races, has seen the grand potential for this not only in the mechanical world but also the magical one as well.
He has request of you to research this to its fullest using all possible materials to learn about this as best as possible.
Difficulty: A
Reward: ???
Success: When Delta feels you have learned enough to leave to nature to show use the rest.
Failure: All traces of research is destroyed to the point of removing your memories so as not to research.
Techno: "Hey hey!! What the hell, someone will try to remove my memories just so I won't research this?!"
Delta: "It might be a long term thing. It's possible that such a person will appear in the future or never appear at all."
I scowl at this but leave it be. Can't do anything about that now can i.
I end the connection and grab a new one the robots made. This time I wanted magic. Its something that currently eludes the clockwork besides Gaia.
I pull out the mana crystal and break it into small pieces of about 2 grams each.
I start and drop five small pieces. They were eaten up and the crystal gathered around the ball in middle. The red core began growing and turned into crystal.
I continued to add them until the crystal in the middle and the film merged completing the crystal.
You have invented a new item completely unknown to this world. What will you name it.
Techno: 'Scan.'
UnnamedA newly invented item. Made from a strange elemental core that was melted and mixed with molten Mana crystal. Afterwards the core formed a film and began assimilating any object that was placed within.
Through assimilation of mana crystals the original elemental core has mixed with the new crystals making a powerful mana crystal that holds an element.
I smile seeing this.
Guess mana based weapons are no longer a dream.
Can't wait to test this out.
Techno: 'Name "Mana Core Crystal"
I take a break and focus outside.
What I find is brocks inside filled with various races. Many of them were holding bags and luggage. I switch to Asura and walk around.
I soon find Bulk guiding everyone around.
Techno: 'Bulk! These are...villagers?'
Bulk: 'Oh good, you're here did you get the codes? You can start building him, don't need to force yourself to try and guide them around. They will build some tents outside here. This is just one village worth. When we finish that one we will return and get the next one. That is how the plan was told to us by Rust from text. He was really pissed by having his codes bargained.'
Techno: 'Necessary...will be building.'
He nods and goes back to guiding the any races that will be in the new village.
Gaia wasn't kidding when she said the town was overpopulated. This is one village? It will grow into a town real quickly.
I head inside while picking up a rather tall trashed clockwork and bring it to the workshop.
Inside I was already having the robots manufacture new parts while I was just finishing a small stand to hold the robot.
Finally hooking it up I opened up my tools and began repairing the robot that will manage the first village.
