《Orc Lord》Q&A Session

Q: Why does Vyra’s first evolution have wings? She’s of the earth attribute!
A: Although they don't match her attribute very well, they do suit her. In principle, the ability to take control of a battle, whether in the air or on the ground, aligns with the idea of Dominance. I hope it will make more sense once we see Vyra fight again in her new form.
Q: What is the rule of halfs?
A: Every creature that reproduces sexually can interbreed in this world, but conception rates can be low, because a suitable soul must be available to match the body. A Venus flytrap/tiger soul may be hard to come upon, for example. Anyway, when a child is conceived, its race is split evenly between both parents. When the blood of one species becomes less than ¼ of the total, the Aspects from that race disappear.
For yet unknown reasons, male monsters (and only male monsters) are not subject to the law of halfs, and their race alone decides the race of the child.
Q: How big is the forest they live in? It seems like the story at this point is very concentrated, but when you wrote about local geography it seemed like it was comparatively big to outside lands.
A: The whole Black Mountain forest including the mountain itself takes up 36,023.86 square miles when viewed from above. It's about the size of the state of Indiana, or the countries of Portugal or Hungary. The territories that have been discussed so far take up about the same area as the United States mainland, excluding Alaska. So it is a considerably large forest.
Q: Runa? Maybe she's tsundere?
A: Runa is a lot of things. There may be some tsundere in there.
Q: Soul infection? Will Fiara be replaced by the Indigo, or will they fuse?
A: That really depends. It could go either way.
Q: Why is Fiara infected by an Indigo mind seed? Isn't that bad?
A: Because Fiara possesses a reincarnated Indigo soul, and the Indigos attached mind seeds to their souls so their knowledge wouldn't be lost when their race was exterminated. It is neither inherently good nor bad. How the characters deal with this will affect the outcome greatly.
Q: Lasagna or Garlic Bread?
A: Garlic Bread.
Q: Why did the mind seed infect Fiara’s Soul instead of her Mind?
A: The world’s reincarnation system exterminates the Mind upon death, and reuses the Soul. Because the Indigos didn't want their knowledge and selves to be destroyed, they attached a mind seed to each of their souls, so they could persist through Reincarnation. Fiara’s mind is still her own which she was born with.
Q: Is there some trade ongoing between orcs?
A: Good question! When the Neutral villages are lacking anything, they will occasionally trade with a village whose chief is friendly with theirs. Nothing regular though. The Cultist and Expansionist Orcs, who host more organized activities, have been known to trade regularly with each other. In the past, there was a War Orc chief who did some trading with Giants, but after he passed away, no one else was willing to cross through the Fomors’ territory to do the same.

Q: What, we had a Q&A?
A: Yes.
Q: Wait, was that already my allotted question now?!
A: Yes.
Q: How did enchanting come into existence?
A: I'm assuming this is a joke question. If it isn't, please reread the chapter Magic Engineering.
Q: After an orc evolves into a new evolution (like the first one to become a war orc) does that make it any easier for other orcs to evolve into it? Since the race is already created the spirits don't have to make a new one.
A: it does not make it inherently easier, but it does make it systematically easier. After the first War Orc, for the second to be born, their Soul still has to suit that new race. However, when many similarly evolved Orcs gather, a culture tends to form that gradually reshapes the minds and habits of those living in them. Enough changes to the Mind will gradually start to affect the Soul.
Orcs born in a War Orc village are more likely to become War Orcs than those born outside, but they are much less likely to become High Orcs, and vice versa.
Q: Can you ask the S System to be your friend.
A: You can't ask the S system anything, and it has no sentience. You can ask the spirits to be your friends via the W system, but to no avail. It is very limited.
Q: Can you have an actual conversation with the spirits via the S System.
A: Directly communicating with the S system is impossible for mortals. And you can't hold a conversation through the W system either, sadly.
Q: What part of Vyra's new form makes it 'dominating'.
A: I would prefer to reveal this through the story.
Q: Was Fiara always aware of the mind seed so she was always Fiara, or did the evolution and subsequent increase in power of the mind seed change her?
A: Yes and yes. We’ll go into more detail soon in the story.
Q: Will the mind seed reaching 100% totally change her personality.
A: No. but when two minds have totally assimilated, what sort of affect do you think that would have on either of them?
Q: Will Vyra get some awesome wing armour with attached blades and a new weapon? Or will she always use a club and bare-winged combat?
A: New weapon and armor? Yes. The way you're imagining it, I'm not sure. Vyra’s wings compress and expand, so it would be hard to attach bladed armor to them. They're blunt weapons, to be frank, relying on weight instead of speed to deal damage.
Q: What is the soul container?
A: Where the soul contains things.
Q: What would happen if the soul reaches 0% storage capacity remaining and vyra tries storing another skill.
A: She would have far worse things to worry about at that point. But, hypothetically speaking, she would have to do what everyone else does. Juggle her skills or overwrite them.
Q: Why is Vyra such an idiot sometimes. Eg. When they were creating the magic circuit and were stuck because the power just kept popping out the other end. I instantly thought of connecting it in a loop/having both ends connected. And if she came from our world the she should at least know basic knowledge like circuits have to be a closed system(join the ends).

A: Vyra was confused because it was acting like a sand bucket.
she would put the Magic Power in and it would stay just fine, but as soon as it was ready to cast the spell, it would hand the formation over to her instead of finishing things itself.
Also, Vyra was a lapidary in her previous world. She doesn't know sh*t about circuits.
Q: When is a love interest for Vyra coming? If ever.
A: It will come. It is a human we haven't met yet. More interactions with Humans are required in order for them to meet.
Q: How many skills can fit in her soul?
A: As of a certain date in the past, for certain reasons, all of them. According to modern times, it’s uncertain.
Q: What is a “soul shell” and why did her’s expand?
A: The soul shell wraps around the Soul. It is there for protection because mortal souls are fragile and easily f*cked with. It expanded because it didn't fit around her soul and couldn't seal at the ends.
Q: How do children for evolved people work?
A: Well, male Monsters are exempt from the law of halfs, so if one of them is involved, he determines the race.
Male Orc x female High Orc = Orc
Female Orc x male High Orc = High Orc
If an evolved female monster mixes with the descendants, you can get some pretty weird mixed breeds.
However, souls that pop out refined right away are more rare than basic souls. Certain evolved Monsters may have such low conception rates (due to lack of souls available) that it's faster just to mass produce basic Monsters and nurture them until they evolve.
Q: When will Varoon evolve? And will he be a War Orc?
A: 20-30 chapters at this pace, I think. You'll have to wait and see.
Q: Also is Rigdam really the father?
A: Yes.
Q: Why bap? And what bap means to you?
A: bap is cute and fun; a friendly distraction in this hard world. Both questions have the same answer.
Q: Can they ask for system commands?
A: Like Help? Or Save/Load? No.
Q: Does a pool of souls exists somewhere with a soul for a tree-human waiting just for someone to fecond a tree?
A: They float around in a region beyond time and space. Most of them, anyway. The Gods snag some that they like.
Q: More seriously, does the soul wait for the good form to be disponible, or do they have a little, sometime large, wiggle room to adapt so they don't have to wait maybe centuries for the mating of a chihuahua with an elephant?
A: Reincarnation is managed by the spirits. If an odd creature appears and there is an available soul anywhere in the universe, they will ignore the world boundary to supply it.
Also, the waiting souls are preserved outside of time, but unless a world faces a crisis where they need new souls immediately, souls won't be forcibly reshaped. It's usually the Gods meddling at this point. The spirits are happy to wait for a proper match, no matter how long it takes.
Q: Is it possible with mind magic to totally change a person so when he reincarnate he can be something surprising?
A: How do you think the Gods refitted the Indigo souls? Mind/Soul r*pe. Absolutely, it's possible, although it's considered taboo unless a God does it. Not that it's cool then, either.
Q: Is Runa planing to capture Vyra with that Gem/Crystal thing?
A: It is a camera. She's planning to reference the image when she's feeling lonely at night.
Q: So does all that mean there's a finite number of souls, and if the multiverse's population reached a certain level, it couldn't grow any more?
A: New souls can be created, but other resources are consumed in the process. (Similarly non-physical resources, mind you) So the creation of new souls should be limited less the resource balance be insufficient to support them all.
Q: This is a strange question, but are there materials that require centuries to process them? Example - Metal which was forged by gnomes for two centuries so that it took the form of a sword.
A: This is not a Xianxia novel. People insane enough to intentionally do this are extremely few, and most such products are left unfinished. However, if you consider the Four Aspects of sapient beings to be materials, the answer is yes.
Q: Are we going to see what happens with/to Vyra's aunt? Rigdam's baby (unevolved) sister, the one we met right after the chief battle?
A: Yes. It will probably be in the following arc.
Q: Could it be that you are actually a pretty amazing person author-sama? And if so, why?
A: Yes. I'm the author of Orc Lord.
Q: Does Runa have a flying pig fetish or does she just find Vera cute?
A: She likes feathers.
Q: What about dominance under water? Wings slow her down under water because they aren't supposed to be used in water?
A: Ah, water-based combat in this world is all but nonexistent. We’ll get to that.
Q: How can one expand their Soul container?
A: Impossible. Such a thing goes against the Systemic Order. Unless you mean soul shell, in which case, it will expand automatically if it cannot contain the Soul.

Haven in a Dangerous World (Old)
Devin McMullen. Female. 18. Single dad. Dead mom. Good in fights and little else. No friends. Or, at least, that's what she's always been. Now, she's not sure exactly what she is. She's never been one for reading fiction, or anything for that matter, but this feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Her newly acquired instincts, however, scream dungeon core. Whatever that is. Unlike most dungeon cores, though, she's missing something very important. A dungeon. Stuck out in the open, above ground where she's definitely not supposed to be, with not a cave in sight, or any other land form besides miles and miles of ice and snow, Devin's not sure if she can survive. Update: Big caveate, though, just so you know. Started with this one idea and ran with it as far as I could. Characters and plot suffer from it, but I'm proud that I wrote as much as I did. I will rewrite this at some point and make it so it actually has plot. Check out my wordpress © [koallary] and [Haven in a Dangerous World], [2017]. Let Me Explore The Interstellar in Peace
Her third life began unlike her last two. From an ancient battle field to the magical interstellar, Ciel was finally going to live her life how she wanted to: freely exploring the new world. But she'll soon find that a brewing war between galaxies won't let her rest easy. He awoke to find himself one thousand years in the future, but the first thing on his mind wasn't the new technology around him. It was the woman he'd seen die in the battlefield just days before. Her, the prince of the interstellar and he, their genius. What will happen when they cross paths? Updates: Expect updates at least once a week. A/N: The first three chapters are set in an ancient setting and then after that it's interstellar, so some patience is required. Does this novel have comedy? Yes. But that's not the main part. What went into the cauldron of whatever this novel is was angst, age progression, and Technoids. I like to kill off my characters, but I also don't. So come check this out if you want redemption arcs, an MC who travels through death, and cool fighting robots controlled by people. We have friendship, romance, and random drama, so buckle up and have fun.

For the Hoard
Ergo the dragon is enjoying his seasonal hibernation when human explorers from another world invade his lair. Sucked into an unknown land, and reduced to a fledgling dragon by the loss of his hoard; Ergo must struggle to survive in a world that has been utterly subjugated by humanity. More importantly, will he ever get to finish his hibernation!? note: while I ticked the boxes for sexual/traumatizing content, I mostly did that to keep my options open. I don't currently have any planned, nor do I expect it to be a significant part of the story. After all, the main character is literally a dragon.
