《Orc Lord》7. Challenging the Chieftain (Part 1)

I don't know how strong chief Durghan really is. But more importantly, I don't know how strong I am. What exactly is the difference between the me before evolution, and me now.
To find out, I started my usual exercise routine. The result? Everything about me is better by miles. There's two things in particular that I'm proud of. First, is my flexibility. In my previous life, I was good at a lot of things, but my flexibility was utter crap. This Orc body, looking like it should be stiff as stone, is shockingly limber. I can do the splits without any discomfort whatsoever.
The other thing I'm proud of is this sturdy bone structure. I had a petite bone structure in my previous life. There weren't a lot of problems with that, but several of my joints were weak. Particularly the wrists, ankles, knees, and elbows. My new body doesn't have that problem. Compared to a Human female, every part of me is sturdy and strong.
On top of that, my magic power has increased by a lot, and I gained a good offensive skill. Speaking of skills, there’s something I want to try now that my body mass has increased.
I want to eat a frog.
More specifically, I want to see if I can learn poison resistance.
The answer was yes. I gained .
Also, the frog did not taste like chicken.
It tasted like death.
I never want to eat something like that again.
So that’s done.
The other thing I really wanted was some kind of guidebook skill. I want a wiki. I'm the type who likes to do some research before play. But, really, I'm totally blind when it comes to how this world works.
Unfortunately, I didn't manage to obtain such a skill. I didn't even know where to begin.

So, since that was a wash, I went back to physical training.
***
One week passed. I think I'm twenty-three days old now, but I'm not totally sure. I'm an infant, really, but I'm planning to challenge the chief.
One week, when training a Human, isn't all that much. But my case is entirely different.
Firstly, I'm an orc. We’re just naturally sturdier than Humans.
Secondly, I have the wonderful skills and . With these, I was able to push myself to train hard, and I could ignore the pain that naturally would have come with it. Also, my broken and torn muscles healed stronger within minutes. Before I knew it, I had created a terrifying cycle of procuring strength.
The only limitations were sleep and food, since training this way used up a lot of energy.
I was generous with the sleep, but I held back when it came to food.
Orcs, as a general rule, can't stand being hungry. With most races, there’s pain, and there’s hunger. There are also individual resistances for each of those. However, for orcs, there’s no separation between pain from hunger and regular pain. It's like how a person with an ulcer feels horrible if they miss a meal, just without the ulcer. Anyway, there isn't a that Orcs can learn. It's a racially sealed skill. But that’s because Orcs don't feel hunger at all. They feel pain.
In short, because I have , I’m able to keep from overeating. I learned it easily, but it seems that most of the others don't have it. Even though they feel pain a lot from hunger and combat, it seems to be a considerably rare skill to possess.
Back to the original topic.
Thanks to my absurd exercise regimen, my body went through a ton of calories. All the extra fat that was on my body is gone. Now, I'm not skinny at all, mind you. I just replaced the fat with muscle. An orc’s body structure is sturdier than a Human’s, too, so my waist isn't particularly narrow. Really, my waist is twice as wide around as in my last life, but it's all muscle.

I'm not even excessively buff. It's just the way my bone structure is that I turned out so thick.
Well, I don't hate it. There was a part of me in my last life that wanted a powerful body like this. If I had one complaint…
My boobs didn't shrink at all. They're like frigging H cups. What the hell? I thought they were just big because I was fat. Who knew they were naturally this way?
Well, it's really annoying. I was a B cup before, and perfectly gorgeous. Isn't this just excessive? I've done a lot of strength training, and I have a fairly sturdy bone structure, so I don't think I'll have any lower back issues because of them. But they move around a lot, and there aren't any bras around. Or clothes, for that matter.
The sex appeal doesn't matter at all. Orc males don't care one bit about the female body, whatever it may look like.
But really, I need to get a breast plate somewhere. I can't have them getting in the way in battle.
Anyway, putting those matters aside, I'm currently standing outside the chief’s house, armed with a femur from the demonic beast I killed.
“Durghan! Vyra challenges you for position of chieftain!” I call out loudly.
The chief comes out of his hut, fully armed as usual, and looking somewhat surprised.
“You challenge? Think you is stronger than me, Vyra? Fine, prove it!”

My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)
