《The Legion of Nothing》Enter the Larry: Part 9

Ten minutes later, the crowd started screaming.
The announcer shouted, “The Murdilator wins! The paramedics are taking Electroman out of the arena, and in five minutes you’ll be able to see the next round—Rook versus Frog! That’s right, the up and coming Rook versus a brand new opponent in powered armor. All that, in just FIVE minutes. Get your drinks and snacks now because you won’t want to miss a second of it.”
Larry took a breath, realizing that he actually felt nervous. And how crazy was that? It was just a fight. How many of those had there been in the last few years? This time his opponent would at least be human, and a kid at that. He’d seen worse.
No denying though, that Rook probably hated him, and wouldn’t hesitate to kill him.
Well, it wouldn’t be his first opponent with a grudge.
He decided to run through the suit’s checklist. He’d already done it when he started the thing up, but if it kept his mind occupied, he wouldn’t complain.
Three items from the end of the list, the announcer stated, “Frog and Rook, we are opening the doors. Please proceed to the middle of the arena, and don’t start fighting until the referee gives you the signal!”
The doors opened, and Larry walked the Frog suit forward. It felt different than the Rhino suit, more like the cockpit of a plane.
There were reasons. If his arms and legs were directly inside the Frog suit’s limbs, they’d probably get ripped off. Human limbs just didn’t move the same way.
On the other side of the arena, a bird-like figure extended its wings, and flew, landing at the halfway point next to the referee.
Larry pressed down on the accelerator pedal, giving the suit a little speed, but nowhere near the max. Rook didn’t need to see that.

The Frog made a comfortable series of jumps. The suit’s computer plotted each point of contact with the floor on the helmet’s faceplate, extending them out in a line, and indicating the spot with the image of a frog. He wasn’t sure anymore whether he or Joe had swapped out Man-machine’s graphic with the one from the Frogger video game, but they’d both thought it was funny.
Larry set the end point at a few feet from the ref. The suit made a few more jumps, slowing with the last few, and stopping perfectly on the last. However much of pain it was to fight Man-machine, Larry couldn’t fault his design. Lots of suits would have fallen over on the last jump.
The ref wore powered armor just like the security people, except they’d painted the upper half with white and black stripes. The ref’s helmet was black, the faceplate too dark to see anything inside.
Given the type of person who fought, the ref could use a secret identity, Larry thought.
“Alright,” the referee said, “you’re both here. I’ll remind you of the rules. Keep the people in the stands out of it, take surrenders, and if we tell you to stop, stop. Got it?”
Rook’s beak dipped, but he didn’t say anything.
Larry clicked on the speaker, and said, “You got it, man.”
The ref backed up a couple steps. “When I drop my hand, you fight.”
He lifted his armored right arm. “One…”
In a low voice, Rook said, “I’m going to kill you.”
The ref said, “Two…”
Larry set the endpoint to the ground just on the left side of Rook. “I figured,” he said.
“Three,” the ref said, and let his arm fall.
Larry clicked the jump button, and the suit moved instantly, landing perfectly positioned for Larry’s punch.

The Frog’s fist hit Rook in the abdomen, knocking him backward. He rolled, wings flopping everywhere.
Laughter and cheering filled the arena.
Larry pointed the suit toward Rook, and pressed jump again. This time it made the distance in two leaps—but not quickly enough. Rook had taken to the air.
Rook whirled around, making quick circles above him.
“What are you going to do now? Huh? No guns? Well, I’ve got guns.”
Bullets rained down from above, hitting the armor with dull thuds. Larry could feel each hit. He jumped. The suit could take bullets for a while, but not forever.
He landed forty feet away, leaving Rook to fire wildly after him, mostly missing. Bits of the concrete floor shot away from the Frog’s feet. Larry set the Frog to jump again, choosing a more complex pattern he’d preprogrammed—forward and to the right, forward and to the left, backward to the left.
He checked the faceplate for Rook.
A red dot pointed out Rook—thirty feet to his left. From the jerky movement as Rook wheeled around, Larry guessed Rook had only just realized that Larry had doubled back.
Or maybe Rook had damaged his wing.
Either way, Larry thought, there was only one thing to do. He set a spot just ahead of Rook as the endpoint, and jumped into the air.

Keep Your Pants On! I'm Trying to Study!
TL;DR - I transmigrated into Hentai World, but I just want to study and solve the mystery behind my new brother’s alien-like behavior. For funsies, Hanna used to watch old and new hentai to riff on the animation and plots... If she’d known that it would be the cause of her transmigration to the ultimate hentai world as a bystander, she may have refrained. The good news was that she could study on her cheap parent’s dime to get into a good university, and hopefully earn a degree for her astronomer dream job. The only issue was that everywhere she walked, she’d run into main characters in awkward situations. And she also had to face the biggest question of them all, why was her new brother acting so strange? The RR version has no actual smut scenes. All smut will be for comedic purposes (and not detailed). All detailed smut will be yeeted to Patreon for those interested. This is the author’s secret side-side-side project... Updates every Sunday (at least), and sometimes Monday. Special thanks to NASA for having an image library that is free to use!

[Archive] Legend of the Nameless Hero
A WhiteSamurai original Web Novel There are always the mysterious tales of heroes, those who fight against the Demons, who fight for justice and those who head mighty quests against tyranny. Heroes that are born to destiny, Heroes that are forged through tragedy, and Heroes that are brought to the world in times of great peril and strife. Not all true Heroes are wanted or beloved, but all life understands, that throughout all time and space, for those who truly stand as Heroes, they never need to be called one. The sands of time are the only true judge for those who journey upon the true path, the only one they will ever need. This is the tale, no, the Legend, the Legend of the one who throughout all time, would forever be, the First Hero. This is Their story, a story of true hardship, of a sorrow greater than any other that would stand as a symbol of inspiration no matter the test of time. A tale of darkness, a true curse, an impending evil hidden beyond the horizons that threatened the very future of existence. This is the tale, of one of the few great figures, who, in the face of true evil, continued to stand. . . . _______________________________________________________________ :Disclaimer: _______________________________________________________________ . . . All Chapters are subject to sudden revision, scrapping, or complete removal from the canonical storyline. The author of "Legend of the Nameless Hero" uses RoyalRoad as a method of experimentation with genre's and writing styles for Fantasy-style works for the sake of eventual publication. The end result isn't to release perfect chapters on RoyalRoadl, but eventually develop the story as intended using the best material to produce the highest quality work. The best mentality when reading works from WhiteSamurai is to see it as the ability to read and review pre-release transcripts or "Rough Copies" before publication. Viewer discretion and maturity are both requested and required. . . . _______________________________________________________________ :About: _______________________________________________________________ . . . This story follows direct character point of views along with an intentional third person narrative to explain to the readers what the characters won't. (I don't use my characters to go give extensive explanations for every last thing like EVERYTHING DOES) This tale shall encompass the life of the Hero from the moment she is summoned into the Kingdom of Kremor, to the Legendary Final Clash. This isn't your run of the mill hack and slash raise an army and conquer, I don't follow that bandwagon. Real life holds politics, intrigue, economics, structure, populations, civil opinions, history, psychology, heart, suffering, wonder, advancement, curiosity, ambition, and so many more things that would lead to me hitting some character limit. I refuse to take the same route that others use by simply ignoring these factors, my worlds, my stories, are as real as they get. There's no plot armor here, if someone screws up, they've screwed up and there's no magical sword in a well for them. I write in 'Seasons' not 'Books' as many often do, these are generally, not always, hundreds of chapters long, though as I have yet to finish a season, the average length is in the air. I go by an ideal of what I call 'Universal Lore' which includes the policy that things that exist within the story don't follow the rule where the Protagonist needs to be there so that it will happen. There will be some things that will happen, and the hero, and sometimes the reader, won't know happened until they enter a place, or news gets to them. A person needs to be in the right place at the right time, I hate plot holes and meta characters above all else... For my works, comments are practically demanded as reactions, thoughts, and various viewpoints are like sweet fuel to my writing spirit. Reviews are highly accepted and appreciated, BUT ONLY IF THEY ARE EDUCATED AND THOROUGHLY EXPLAINED. Those that throw down a low rating ARE HIGHLY REQUESTED to extensively detail and explain their viewpoints on the work. They should also be willing to come back to the work at a later date if messaged by the Author, Me, due to issues they mentioned being taken care of. I'm never against scrapping a chapter or rewriting several paragraphs if there are character or story discrepancies. I want the highest quality work possible, and every comment, every review, are tools for me to use to further that goal. . . . Enjoy the work. ~White Status: (Ongoing)
