《A Dragon Gnawing Its Tail》Message/Update

To the Readers of “A Dragon Gnawing Its Tail”, “Getting Hard”, and “The Guardians of the Veil”:

More than five years have passed since I went on hiatus. To the followers of my works who are still around and will read this message, I sincerely apologize for simply disappearing. Real-life issues forced me to stop writing (and also drawing) back then but I shouldn’t have left without saying anything.

Three years after I quit writing, my life stabilized somewhat and I decided to try writing again. However, I didn’t return to my old account here. I know it’s normal for web novel authors to disappear without a trace, but I was nonetheless ashamed and disheartened that I unceremoniously dropped my stories. And so, I made a new account. I didn’t forget my old stories and wanted to revive them, so I started with “The Guardians of the Veil”. It’s a one-chapter story that I wasn’t able to continue with barely any readers, which was why I chose it because I couldn’t bring myself to return to “A Dragon Gnawing Its Tail” or “Getting Hard” just yet.

My new story only took concepts from Guardians and drastically changed everything else. I wrote a very different story, not only compared to my older works but other web novels as well, because I wanted to distance myself from thoughts of my old account. And I have been hiding in that new story for the last two years. I'd be happy if you try REND | Royal Road. It has quite the difficult journey of finding an audience, but two years in, it nearly has 3.2k followers and has its small niche.

Eventually, I gained the courage to check my old account. I found many messages from followers expressing support and asking for me to come back. I was still very hesitant to revive my other two stories. What changed my mind were several readers who told me that someone plagiarized “Getting Hard” and was selling it on Amazon. I wasn't able to read those messages in time because I hadn't visited my old account for years. When I checked those books, I found that they have been taken down, no doubt thanks to the loyal readers who reported them.

That encouraged me to revive my works seeing how much readers cared for them.

I chose “Getting Hard” to revive next because it is vastly easier to write than “A Dragon Gnawing Its Tail”. Come support it here Getting Hard (Rise of a Tank) | Royal Road. Some of the old readers have already found it. And it is currently, Rank #4 on Rising Stars. I haven’t messaged followers immediately when I started the rewrite because I wasn’t sure what to say, and I also wanted more content available to read.

For the readers of “A Dragon Gnawing Its Tail”, I apologize that I cannot revive it now. I feel that I lack the skills and time to do the story justice. But I promise that I haven’t forgotten it and will return to it someday. I have already revived two of my three stories, and “A Dragon Gnawing Its Tail” will also follow in the far future. The first step is trying to live as a writer, which I hope to be able to do if my two stories will become successful.

I'm not sure how many will read this message since many of the account following my five-year-old stories are probably inactive, but to those that will, again, I'm sorry for disappearing, and I hope you'll support my new works now that I've returned.
