《Earth Tactics Advance》Chapter 36.3: Make Me an Offer

Scott looked out over the churning waters of the nearby river. He could scarcely believe what he saw with each passing moment. A column of black light showed the dire nature what took place largely out of his sight within the confines of the river.
An inescapable battle arena held his allies fast in place as they dueled. It was quite telling that the river now ran red with blood that did not escape the edges of the shield of light that separated the fight from the world at large.
Two lower-level lizard folk stood near Scott and Harley. They looked to each other before they turned back to look at Scott. "The battle is nearly done," said one of the green scaled girls.
"You can see through all of that?" asked Scott. "I know you said it before, but all I see is red water and mud."
"Ah yes, it's one of our abilit—" began one lizard girl only to be cut off by the sudden eruption of a swirling tornado of water at the center of the battle field.
Naked, and resplendent in the light, Eloa's glittering form surged from the water at the center of the water spout. She continued high into the air then performed a powerful aerial backflip that showed off her graceful agility along with her powerful musculature and impressive feminine architecture. Her tail gleamed in the light for the briefest of moments before she completed her rotation. Suddenly her body drew up to its full height and she thrust her right hand upward. Lightning crackled from her finger tips and a storm cloud appeared high overhead.
Though Scott and the others could not hear what was said, something phenomenal occurred. In total defiance of gravity Eloa struck a dynamic pose while she hovered in the air. "My judgment upon you!"
The water spout slowed its whirling motion long enough to reveal over a dozen lizardmen trapped inside. One lizardman much larger than the rest flailed his arms furiously in an attempt to escape. The others seemed frozen, suspended in time.
As electrical energy built to a wildly pulsating spectacle overhead, Eloa cried out, "Queen's Wrath!"
A bolt of lightning shot down from the heavens forming into a spear of crackling energy at the last moment. Eloa's hand moved with it to give the impression of her having thrown an actual spear. The raw power of nature's fury lanced down from the sky and heavily impacted the swirling column of water below.

Scott watched as electricity arced and skittered along the surface of the water. The captive lizardmen inside the water spout opened their mouths as though they were screaming. He had no idea whether they screamed or not, or even what Eloa had said. The end result could not be denied, however. Even at his current distance he could manage to barely discern the four-digit damage numbers floating up from several of the captives.
He swallowed involuntarily, as the attack ended and the storm cloud dispersed. What was his pathetic little lightning skill compared to something like that? Did he even deserve the last name, 'Stormbringer'? An attack like the one Eloa used would have been instant death to him with his measly one hundred eighty hit points.
Not long after that attack struck, several dozen bodies floated to the surface of the river, and the black battle field screen faded away. The sound of cheering echoed from the former battle field. Eloa's people had won the day.
Several long minutes passed as the lizard girls spoke cheerfully with Scott. They were left behind to guard the bridge while the elites fought in the battle.
"So, that big guy was the chief of another tribe?" asked Scott. He knew of the reasons for the battle in general, but the girls did not want to tell him more until it was decided. Now that their sisters and queen won the day, they were glad to speak openly and at length about the situation.
"Yes, he came to make a proposal," said the lizard girl on the left.
"I take it she did not agree to his proposal..." said Scott lightly.
The lizard girls laughed in a strange hissing manner and nodded simultaneously. The girl on the right said, "Our queen is not entertaining suitors at the moment, especially ones that intend to make her land become their land."
"No suitors, huh?" asked Scott, his tone still light. "I don't know if that makes me feel relieved or sad."
The girls looked to each other then back to Scott. Crocodilian features split into a strange parody of a smile. Soon they began to laugh uproariously at what they perceived to be something quite humorous.
A high-pitched yell of excitement caught his attention. Scott turned toward the sound just in time to throw up his arms. Eloa leapt into his arms and tackled him to the ground. "Scott!" she cried happily.

A loud noise reminiscent of an angry chainsaw crossed with the revving of a motorcycle engine echoed from nearby. Harley lightly stroked her rifle, her lips pursued into a petulant frown. If looks could kill, hers might very well do so. Luckily she wore a helmet with an orange visor that kept anyone from seeing her expression.
Eloa perked her ass into the air a little and made her tail sway from side-to-side. "Did you see?"
Scott looked into the lizard queen's sparkling eyes and found that he could not help but get caught up in her excitement. "You kicked serious ass..."
"Yes!" she exclaimed happily. Eloa wiggled her perky posterior a little then pressed forward against him, her breasts rubbing against his armored chest. "Thanks to you..."
"How is it thanks to me? All I did was watch?" he asked her curiously.
"Our association... comes with benefits for both of us, remember?" she said sweetly. Her cheeks became tinged with pink.
"Our association... You mean the treaty we made? How does that help you beyond developing your tribe a little faster?" he asked her.
Eloa bit her lower lip a little then leaned her face closer to his. "Since we have an alliance... Your strength becomes our strength as well. As long as... we're loyal to each other I can call upon the power of the storm in this way."
"Wait, you're saying that my reaching a new tier gave you incredible powers?" asked Scott incredulously.
She grinned at him, "Gave is a strong word. I was given a one week free trial option."
A saucy look in her eyes she leaned her head down and kissed him softly on the nose. One hand came up and she lightly traced her fingers along his cheek. "All I have to do in order to keep it is maintain and strengthen our alliance to your satisfaction."
"My s-satisfaction you say?" asked Scott slowly, a slightly goofy expression on his lips.
"Oh yes..." she said in a manner that might have been erotic were the noise of an engine revving in the background not distracting from it.
Eloa rose up and sat back on her haunches, her maidenhood resting just above Scott's crotch. She lightly teased him by gently rocking her hips back and forth. "That's not to say that I'm an easy girl to win over... Mating is one thing, but a true alliance is something you'll have to prove capable of achieving..."
"Actually, alliances and the like are part of why I am here..." he said, while trying to ignore the heat permeating the area above his manly bits and the obnoxiously loud chainsaw in the background.
"Oh? Is it?" she asked before rotating her hips slightly. "You don't want to cross my bridge today, do you? Because that would just be lovely..."
"Not today... I came for a different reason," said Scott.
"Well, that's a pity..." she said with a sigh. She stopped teasing him for a moment and asked, "Why did you come?"
"I have a request, if you would like to hear it," he said.
"By all means..." she said softly, her eyes locked with his.
Scott related the situation to her. He spoke of Brittani Rotten, her impending visit, and some of his minor misgivings.
"Hmm?" asked Eloa lightly. "So, you want to show me off as your devoted trophy bride to keep your other potential mate in line?"
The chainsaw noise revved into life once more. Though, no one paid it any mind.
"What? No, I—" began Scott only to be cut off by her happy response. "I'll do it."
He blinked twice then sat up a little despite her delightful weight. "You will?"
She gestured toward the river with her thumb and a grin, "Best proposal I've had all day."
Scott glance over to the red river and the corpses floating slowly down stream. As he looked a few of them disappeared. Whether they sank, or they were dragged down for other purposes he could not say.
"I can see that..." he said evenly.
Eloa offered him a warm smile that turned slightly predatory. "Yes, indeed. I'll happily come to your place... I certainly have a few things to say to this potential mate of yours, after all."
"Ah, well as I said... It will be right around sundown," said Scott. Something about the way that Eloa said the last bit unnerved him. What did she intend to say? This could go quite badly, or incredibly well. What had he unleashed?

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

Shura Saga: Burn and Slay - Cultivation, Lightning Bolts, Monsters galore
“If it lives, we can slay it. And then burn it, just to make sure it doesn’t come back from the dead,” she said. “...does that happen often?” he asked. “Slaying? Yeah, duh? It’s what we're here to do in the first place, dummy.” “I meant the coming back from the dead part.” “Eh. More often than you’d like.” “Great. Just great.” Walking away from a life drenched in senseless bloodshed, Raksha embarks on the Warrior’s Pilgrimage. In doing so, he strives to hone his mind, spirit, and martial skills, and he swears to abide by the Ancient Code’s tenets of honor and compassion. Neither did he expect to be stuck with her as they fight murderous mutants, vicious monsters, and demons. She calls their entanglement a beautiful partnership, but it’s the last thing he needs. To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
