《Colossus' Dream》(10) Thoughts.

POV Colossus:
I carefully sit down on the soft beach sand, gathering my thoughts. Hehe, watching this tiny elemental trying to climb up my leg is amusing. How many years has it been since I first went to sleep, ten thousand, maybe a hundred thousand years? Who knows. I haven’t had any time to think since I first woke up on the other continent. I can’t help but wonder if this is the right direction? I can feel something guiding me towards the continent's centre, but what does it mean?
Ah, he finally reached the top of my leg! Wait, no… He fell off again. The moss growing all over my body is a bit slippery. Thinking about my body, I haven’t properly inspected it at all since my numerous evolutions. I can't consider myself an earth elemental anymore. The water and nature aspects I inherited, through my evolutions, have fundamentally changed me.
I’ve stumbled along too much these past years. I need to form an actual plan, lucking my way into evolutions isn’t sustainable. No matter how convenient it may be. Maybe with my new companion, I can have some help or auxiliary input in my decisions. Hopefully, he can provide me with some basic knowledge about the world around me. That's assuming he'll manage to climb up to his house, haha. Oh, he fell off again. He might need some help. Nah, he’s got this… probably.
POV Zohn:
Is he covered in slime!? I can’t get a grip on this body at all, and the ridges on his body are too far apart to help me. He’s a walking fortress that no one can climb. I began my ascent in the early morning, and now the sun is setting over the horizon. I need to ask for help, but the amused look on his face irritates me. I’ll give up when it's dark. Next time, I’ll use the rope from my house to makes this ascent possible. I won’t request his help a second time if I can avoid it.

What was I thinking, asking to be this Colossus’ companion?! Sure, we might go on an adventure or two, but who knows what danger we'll face. I should have thought this through. I need to inquire about the spear, but not now, there are other matters that we must first discuss. That's if I ever make it up.
I continue for another hour, reluctantly giving up. “Could you please help me?” I begrudgingly shout at the Colossus who's absorbed in deep thought, slightly startling him. An amused glint shines in his granite eyes and a low rumbling laugh bellows from of his mouth, but I choose to ignore it. This is the only way I'll reach the warmth of my house.
The Colossus gently lowers his hand to the ground, allowing me to step on it. He lifts me to his shoulder, over a hundred meters from the ground. My house is comfortably resting near the middle of his right shoulder, somehow firmly attached to the Colossus' body. Maybe it's magic, but it can't possibly be the truth. Magic’s only a fairy tale, but with today's events, maybe even fairy tales hold some truths.
Around my small, three-room house, green moss lines the surrounding granite. It almost resembles the beautiful porch of a wealthy city home. A small pond sits next to the building. The scene resembles a paradise up in the sky, away from everyday problems. Well, almost paradise; if it wasn't for the Colossus staring at me. I quickly head inside and change into something warmer. After getting myself fed, I prepare to head outside for an overdue conversation.
POV Narrator:
The night sky, on a planet without a moon, made navigating on the Colossus' shoulder difficult. Zohn carefully walks outside. Dressed in a warm robe, and looking satisfied with the long-overdue meal that he'd eaten. He methodically makes his way towards the giant head, off in the distance. Nearly twenty meters from the Colossus' head, he stops.

“Is everything settled, small elemental?” The Colossus asks, unsure about the need for a house and attempting to start a conversation. He had practically no experience with conversations and was nervous. “First, my name Zohn and second, I’m not an elemental. I don't know what an elemental is, but I'm a Goliath,” Zohn says, providing the Colossus with some valuable clarifications.
“Your name is Zohn? Quite fitting, in my opinion,” the Colossus replies with his usual friendly demeanour. “I'm not incorrect in calling you an elemental. Everything and everyone is made from elemental essence, including you. I'll call you Zohn from now on, I apologise if I offended you,” The Colossus apologises, not wanting to anger his precious companion.
“I wasn’t offended,” Zohn quickly corrects the misunderstanding, he only asked out of curiosity. He was merely curious about the Colossus’s strange word choice and asked without properly thinking. This opportunity that the Colossus is providing intrigues him. Maybe he's the guardian of the spear, perhaps not. It doesn't matter, the Colossus is the only way for Zohn to acquire the spear and maybe make a friend in his last, lonely years.
As time passes, the night grows colder. A chilling breeze rolls over the Colossus’ shoulder, Zohn shivering in response. “Can we continue this conversation tomorrow, the night is becoming unbearably cold and I can barely see in the dark?” Zohn suggests, through clattering teeth. “Time weakens even the strongest individuals,” Zohn gloomily thinks to himself.
“I agree, the day has grown dark. Go and rest, we'll continue this tomorrow in some proper lighting. I still have some matter I need to contemplate, so don't mind me,” The Colossus agrees. The Colossus’ observes Zohn’s house as the Goliath makes his way home. A caring smile lines his white, granite face as Zohn closes his door. “Times have changed,” the Colossus says to himself, peacefully losing himself in thought.

Nanocultivation Chronicles: Trials of Lilijoy
When the singularity occurred, humanity was not invited. Join Lilijoy in an exploration of what remains, in a post-post-apocalyptic world where clans feud over the technology that allows them to upgrade their minds and bodies. There is some violence that is visceral and realistic early on. Some things are not what they appear to be. Character viewpoint narration is not always reliable. Tropes are cherished, subverted, and then cherished again. Science is used, occasionally misused, but (hopefully) never abused. This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting. There is no sex, and almost no romance. Updating Sunday, Thursday until further notice.
