《Until Death? (Refleshed Version)》Chapter 62

***Oth, Mortal World***
***Nix***
“Angrod? Dad? What are we doing here?” I ask while following my progenitor down the dirty street of some worthless medieval town, located in some even less important dimension. “I thought you said that you wanted to show me the lower dimensions.”
“Yes, yes,” he waves his hand dismissively. “We are going to get to that. First, we have to get you into the right state of mind. You have to understand what being a god really is about! From where your power comes from and how to access it.”
“Feelings?” I reply questioningly, reciting what I was told about a god’s divinity – the source of our power.
“Yet, it is so much more!” He stops and waves a finger in my face. “You practically cheated yourself to godhood. You didn’t go through the necessary mind-altering experience to understand your true powers. I am not saying that you don’t deserve this power, only that you don’t know how to wield it. Take me as an example. When I ascended, I had barely enough understanding of my true nature to be classified as some small deity.”
“So… my powers can evolve with time and my psyche,” I conclude, further parrotting one of my mother’s lessons.
“Yes and no,” Angrod replies in a mysterious manner. “You know the power classifications for ascended beings?”
I nod and he continues, “Good. The important difference between anything beneath a true god-ranked and any other rank is that they haven’t found their true self, which needs time and the will to do so. But there is a way to expedite things.”
Please don’t tell me that I have to do something as embarrassing as I did back then! I kind of lost it and promised myself to practice self-control in the future.
“We have to go to your dimension!” he exclaims, sounding cheerful. “But first we have to get you prepared.”
“My dimension?” Having a dimension of my own is news to me.
He raises a finger, lecturing. “You forget how vast the multiverse truly is. Everyone has a dimension that fits him or her perfectly. The trick lies in how to find it. Just being there allows you to advance your powers by leaps and bounds.”
“Then why am I here and not there?” I start getting annoyed with being fed only bits and pieces of the whole picture.
“Most planes of existences aren’t inhabited by life. They are too inhospitable. Either because the laws of physics are so different that it is impossible for life to exist… or for other reasons which aren’t important right now.” Angrod shrugs. “There is nothing there that could hold a soul, so even if you resonate perfectly with the place, your soul drifts onwards to other shores to reincarnate elsewhere.”
He stops and I almost run into him. Sniffing, he stretches out his hands and closes his eyes.
I feel his presence spreading as his aura floods out of him. It’s not enough to alert the mortals, but I recognize the technique. Mother showed it to me as a way to take control of the surrounding area and to find other deities.
Once I practised it enough, it is supposed to give me the ability to follow another god through the pathways.
“There!” He claps his hands together, rubbing them, and then his staff materializes out of nowhere. Angrod raises it dramatically and I can suddenly feel the emptiness of being disconnected from the pathways.

I steady myself, fighting the moment of disorientation and sigh, a little frustrated that the wonderful feeling of every nerve-ending being connected to the multiverse is now gone. It’s my first time as a god to be away from a Void Zone or an inhibitor field.
Previously, Angrod was also teaching me how to use the pathways, and the first time experiencing them without a dampening effect was just orgasmic. Like a ride on some hellish roller-coaster which was disconnected from the laws of time and space.
Then I notice that I got lost in my thoughts. Angrod left me behind, so I hurry to catch up.
It’s a little humbling for a succubus queen like myself to follow in the wake of another being like a little child. Even if the argument can be made that said being is my father. Even back then when he was still a demon lord, all I could do was to be silently dragged along in the wake of my parents’ power. Which was the reason why I left the Plane of Lust after Father’s departure.
He approaches an unassuming door and gives it a good kick, shattering the wood and several runes which flare up angrily in a vain attempt to stop the intrusion.
Strangely enough, none of the random peasants passing by give a shit. They keep walking, following whatever they have in mind.
He winks at me. “Mortal minds are easily swayed.” Then he enters the wooden house.
I tentatively check the street one more time and follow him into the dark abode.
Angrod casts a simple Light-Globe, revealing a spartan reception room and a small figure dashing towards us, coming out of a corridor to our right.
“Who the fuck do you think you are! You measly street-rats, do you not know whose house this is!?”
Angrod turns to face the owner of the house, smiling. “Nazareth, how long has it been?”
Stepping into the light, the figure is revealed as a small gnome, no larger than an imp from my own dimension. The owner of the house comes to a stuttering halt, eyeing us very carefully.
His eyes flick from me to Angrod, unsure now that he can see past the initial rage of having his door kicked down. “Demons? Who summoned you and how do you know my name? You are aware that you are speaking to a god?”
Angrod takes a step forward, grabbing the gnome at his night-shirt and hauling him to eye-level with us. “Nazareth, I am offended. It’s been a while, but you shouldn’t forget someone like me, even if I have a new body. Luckily for you, I only need to take a look at your soul.”
The gnome’s eyes widen in shock, his expression turning frightful as he pales further than I thought possible for a dark-skinned creature like him.
“By the multiverse! Infernal Planes, you are him!”
“Yes, me.” Angrod smiles, his sharp teeth blinking white in the Light Globe’s illumination. “Count yourself lucky, because we have things to do and places to be. So you might get away with performing a little job for me.”
“You are no better than a slaver!” the deity complains.
“Nobody ever said that I am a nice person, and my memories tell me that my former self wasn’t very fond of you either, so I am not inclined to feel bad about this,” Angrod replies nonchalantly. “Who knows, if you and your friends perform well with your task, I might even separate your souls to give you your brother back.”

The gnome starts cursing, spewing some expressions that are new even to me.
***
Three hours later the two of us are on our way to another part of the town, having left a fuming Nazareth in his hideout. Apparently, the little deity was another of Seria’s experiments – a merged soul like Celes. Seeing the effects of Seria’s attempt at healing Celes’s soul, Angrod wanted to take a good look at Seria’s ‘Version_1.0’ guinea pig.
The little deity parted ways with the Goddess of Life and Death after the war – even though she brought him back from oblivion. During the conversation, I picked out that Nazareth blamed Seria, Myrm, and Ascathon for the death of his brother, Marigold.
Unfortunately for Nazareth, that didn’t end with getting his brother back. I still shudder at remembering the scene of my father blackmailing the little man. Nazareth isn’t the strongest of beings, and even as my pre-godhood version I wouldn’t have feared him. So seeing him forced into servitude made even me feel a little bad.
Though, his skills at cursing are impressive.
“What do you think?” Angrod breaks the heavy silence and focuses his attention on me. “This outing is going to be marvellous! It’s the first time that I can have a true parent relationship with a successor of mine.” He clears his throat. “I mean, as a god.”
“What about Seria and Aengus?” I ask, a little perplexed that he would be so giddy about teaching me the ways of a chaotic aligned deity.
“Pah!” He waves his hand. “Seria’s powers seem to be the perfect balance between my Chaos and her mother’s Order. In a way, she can best either of us if we aren’t working together.” Then he groans and shakes himself. “Then there is Aengus. Have you paid attention to how much of a goody-two-shoes he is?”
I raise an eyebrow, smiling as I remember fondly how nice and considerate of a little brother Aengus is. If I am ever going to have children, I want one like him. “I noticed. He is very attentive. For example, he warned me of your familiar when nobody thought about it.” I shudder at the memory of the startled fluff-ball turning into a man-sized porcupine!
And I was about to hug the damned thing!
“That one is Order through and through. I bet once we unseal his memories, it will turn out that his divinity is something gross like Benevolence!” Angrod clears his throat. “Anyway, that makes you the only kid who I can really show all of this.”
Flicking his fingers, he materializes an old tome which is bound in dark leather. No title hints at its purpose.
I notice with unease that there is a dense energy leaking from between the pages like some oozing fluid, evaporating as it touches the air. Some droplets fall onto the ground where some sizzle like acid, and others sprout fungi with rampant growth before turning to dust. Another leaves a droplet of fluorescent light behind. Many more effects manifest themselves without rhyme or reason as I watch, none of them repeating themselves.
The power that’s leaking from the tome and into this dimension urges me to run screaming in the other direction. I watch in horrified fascination as the binding seems to strain against the lock which is holding the book closed.
“Ah, not yet.” Angrod presses down on the cover, and the tome seems to calm down. “You will get to open the portal. Just a little patience...”
“What by the nine Infernal Planes is that!?” I point at the tome.
“Mmh… a diary?” My father clicks his tongue, searching for the right words. “Originally, it was just a notebook where I recorded my explorations of the lower dimensions. And as I said, some dimensions work with different rules than we are used to. Somewhere along the line, this thing became more than a mere book as it took on aspects of the planes I walked. It changed. It’s now a window… portal… a map to these places.”
“Sorry. Once you are there yourself you will see how meaningless language truly is. There are no words to describe things like this tome.” He huffs, looking at me apologetically and clearly unsatisfied with the explanation. “Anyway. Items like this one are better kept under lock and seal, but it will help us in our endeavour. I was greatly surprised that the Council didn’t dispose of it. I thought it lost after I died in the battle against Myrm. Our people found it in the Council’s vault, sealed behind five metres thick Mana Crystal.”
I am surprised that they didn’t use their 'black-hole-banishingy’ on the frightening thing!
Thankfully Angrod dematerializes the thing, pointing towards a large wooden building with several floors. Unlike the rest of the town, this abode is new and clean, belonging without a doubt to the upper establishments.
We apparently walked far enough to leave the run-down part of the city where Nazareth decided to hide from the world.
“Ahem, Dad?” I commit the distinct letters on the building’s name-plate to memory. They are reading: ‘The Red Ember’ and an enchanted illusion of a woman with oversized tits is bouncing them happily on top of the letters while winking at the audience.
“That looks like a brothel,” I conclude with a deadpan voice.
“Exactly!” Angrod starts walking faster.
“No, ahem, Angrod…” Damn it! I am a succubus, but going to such a place with my father is just plain wrong.
More importantly, I don’t want to get involved if my mother ever finds out. Celes seems more relaxed than Isabella ever was, but I still don’t want to risk her finding out. Isabella only killed some people when they looked at her Amon the wrong way. I don’t want to know what Celes would be capable of. “Maybe we should find another place?”
Angrod stops and turns around. “What are you talking about? This place is perfect! Or do you want to break into random homes until we find a suitable candidate? Besides, don’t I have you as a chaperone?”
Wah?
I shake my head, blinking.
“Good! First lesson: ‘Let go!’ ” He turns and storms through the brothel’s entrance. “Tonight there are no rules, darling daughter! Let's have a little fun before we begin your lessons!”
Nooo! This is bad. No matter how I look at it!
I follow him nonetheless, hoping to mitigate the damage.
Once inside, I find myself in a large saloon with a bar at the far end. There are several tables with patrons and scantily clad women of different heritages seeking their 'paying' attention. A stairway leads to the upper floors and I catch a human courtesan guiding a customer up, which can only mean that up there are the more private areas.
Angrod is at the bar, chatting up the female barkeeper. She is a huge half-orc with melons as large as my head, but that's not what I am worried about.
What really concerns me is the large bottle which she hands to Angrod.
“Oh, no!” Five steps and old memories bring me to his side. “Angrod? Are you sure that you want to drink?” I reach for the bottle, but he is faster, holding it out of my reach.
“Yes, I am sure,” he replies.
Blasted Inferno! I can remember the drunken nights when he and his warband celebrated their victories. Amon was... a different person when he was drunk. Even Isabella evacuated our castle's ballroom on those days.
“Are you a pair?” The barkeeper asks. “We have special services for people like that. Threesomes, foursomes... maybe one of the themed rooms?”
I blink and smile at her, trying to remember that I am too old to be embarrassed by such an offer. Still, the fact that I am here with my father paints the picture in a different light. “Nothing like that.”
“Then a companion for each of you?” she asks, snickering. “Just a week ago we employed this wolf-kin for our female customers. I can tell you that once you get over the fur, he is a real machine!”
Angrod takes a gulp from his bottle and smiles at the half-orc. “Naw, we are just looking around. Checking out the goods, so to say.”
“Oh, okay.” She nods. “Then, by all means, look around and chat up any girl who looks lonely.”
My father salutes the half-orc with his bottle and strolls towards a fae to slap her backside in order to gain her attention.
“Ah!” She jumps in surprise, her assets jiggling wonderfully.
“Beauty! You look like you are my woman!” Angrod introduces himself.
The fae smiles professionally while rubbing her backside and turning to face us. “Can I help you... sir. Oh, my. You can slap my butt all day and night if you want to, mister.” The small woman looks up to Angrod with her eyes locked dreamily on his chest.
He chuckles and winks at her. “Are any of you girls pregnant?”
The fae blinks, taken aback. “Oh, not that I know. So you have that type of kink? I may be persuaded to let you try with me.”
I sniff, my succubus senses telling me instantly of her arousal. Gods, now that I am getting used to the scent of cheap alcohol and tobacco I think I am getting ill. It smells like my mother's succubus-castle in here.
Her eyes lost in a haze, the fae throws herself into Angrod's arms, rubbing herself against his body like a needy bitch.
Interrupted from drinking, Angrod almost falls over but manages to save his bottle. “Whoa! Hold your horses, lady. I am a married man.”
I turn my gaze to the ceiling while Father looks around, taking in the new situation. Around us, the brothel's employees and their customers suddenly ramped up their game. What was previously a borderline legal scene is now certainly no place for minors.
“Nix, did you do something?” He asks while holding onto his belt with one hand, warding off the fae who is trying to get into his pants.
“Pheromones? What did you think would happen? You dragged a succubus into a place like this and you didn't expect me to get horny?” I huff. “You are only lucky that you seem to be resistant.”
“Ah, this is nothing! Whatever Seria did to Chimera's biology, it amplified whatever you succubi have.” He tilts his bottle to his lips while looking at me. “I don't even feel anything close to arousal right now. Phew! It might no longer be airborne, but just imagining touching your mother does the trick for me!”
“Really?” I frown, vowing to research this amplified ability.
“Really!” Angrod steps over the fae who turned into a happily burbling delirious puddle on the floor. “Let's search for a candidate and get out of here.”
We ascend the stairway and start checking out rooms one by one, my father commenting on the various settings as he opens doors.
“Empty, empty, boring, gay–” He pauses, considering the wolf-kin and the well-muscled human man who are caught in the throes of passion, humping each other like bunnies.
Seeing their tools, I have to bite my lower lip. Maybe just five minutes? For each of them?
Angrod sighs. “Nope.” He continues onwards. “If I could, I would. But sadly, I lack the skill.”
I force my eyes away from the wolf-kin's impressive organ and feel the need to cough up blood as I realize what the God of Chaos just considered doing. Then I force myself to follow, hoping to stop the madman from doing anything remotely close to committing such a heresy.
Angrod breaks into another room and we find a pair humping on a heart-shaped love-bed. A well toned catgirl is lying beneath an elf who is ploughing her with abandon while she curls the toes of her raised legs and screams her pleasure.
His eyes are immediately drawn to the girl's bobbing tail. “Perfect!”
I slap my forehead, while he enters the room, already casting spells and muttering while doing so, “Health and increased vitality to get rid of pesky preventive measures...”
Following into the room, I frown, thinking that something isn't quite right with the catgirl, but Angrod is already starting some big-ass spell, a huge spell-matrix encircling the deliriously rutting pair on the bed.
Having figured it out, I bite my lower lip. “Are you sure that was the right choice?”
“What are you talking about? There is no better punishment!” He finishes the spell right as the elf pushes down into the woman, his balls tightening and the catgirl screaming in pleasure.
Angrod bends down and tugs at the woman's tail. “There is no greater punishment than being born as a catgirl in a pleasure hous-”
“Ahn!” The woman is brutally torn out of her sexual delirium as the tail comes loose with a wet 'plop'.
“Yes.” I facepalm.
“Holy shit!” Angrod curses while holding the tail with the anal plug. “You are not a catgirl!”
“What the fuck are you doing in my private suite!?” The woman screams, trying her best to get out from beneath her lover who decided to take a post-coital nap, but she is quite obviously too weak to push the heavy male off of her.
“But those are really well made.” Angrod marvels while studying the cross-dressing accessory. “And enchanted! I wonder if I could use those on Celes.”
Stepping forward, he steals the well-concealed headband with the attached cat-ears right from the woman's head.
Apparently still playing her role, the female screeches. “Nyah! Those are the House of Ember's holy artefacts! Thief! Guards!”
“Aw, shit!” I groan while Angrod grabs my hand, pulling me out of the room, pocketing some interesting lingerie on the way out.
“We have to run! But we sack the place before we go!” He points towards the other rooms, spilling some booze from his bottle while doing so. “They have some really interesting things, given that this is only some second rate world! No wonder that Nazareth stays in this town.”
I follow him while fighting the urge to cry... I really wanted... ah... by the hells! Who cares!
Turning mid-stride, I head the other way. “You do just that while I have my own fun. Give me just ten minutes.”
“Where are you going!?”
“I am going to convert the two gay-lords and turn them into straight men,” I chuckle darkly. Their sex-life will be dull and unfulfilled after I show them my special arts. They must have some room with the proper equipment in this establishment.

Sexy Sect Babes
“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.
