No. The first of these countless number of fools that would never see the light that I am seeing - the culmination of my people’s work; the apex of history.
Decades of work finally bore results, and I took the opportunity to bite into the forbidden fruit first. My eyes are seeing things that no mere mortal could, my senses are endless and without limit, and my knowledge have reached divinity.
I have ascended! Without a doubt, I have become a god!
The light, the walls, the floor - all meaningless to me. I can see through everything! With just a flick of my fingers, I disassembled everything for me to see.
Truly ecstatic and rapturous.
The people that sought to do me harm are no more. With just a snap, they were gone.
And with another thought, they are back for me to torture. One second, they are gone; another second, they are suffering.
Truly magnificent.

“Wait… if it’s a sea bass, how did I get it in this lake?” I pondered for a moment before realizing, “Of course! That’s because I’m the one and only Boss! Truly I am so skilled that I managed to catch a sea bass from a lake!”
Thus, I continued fishing.

FORMERLY TITLED: THE GLIMMERLING This story was formerly titled "The Glimmerling", because the first part was a short story of that title; it has since been expanded upon, thus the title change. Chapters 1-8 (30k words) are the first 'arc', if you want to get a feel for the story. To give some context on the setting: Magic is a bit weaker in this story than you might be used to, and we start off following some relatively new magic users. For some perspective, being able to light a campfire with magic is considered relatively advanced for someone who is the age of the main character. Magic can become very powerful - and there are some examples of powerful wizards within this story - but it's not where the main characters are yet. Part of the story is about following them as they learn more about magic. Enemies are also very dangerous, and running, hiding, or trying to talk their way out of a dangerous situation is often a better choice than fighting for the characters. While I have added tags for traumatizing content, sexuality, violence, swearing, etc. I try to avoid super-explicit descriptions of these things. But they are part of the story.

As a professor of physics, he has a decent understanding of how the world works, or so he likes to think. Armed only with his knowledge, Alan is thrown into a world very different from his own. In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain).
