《A Demon's Tail》Chapter 34 - Drunk Demons

***The Infernal Plane of Lust***

***Amon***

The entrance to Demon's Tears was an inconspicuous door, located on the eighth level and just one minute of slow walking away from the elevator station. In fact, our goal lay within sight of the elevator, just like our own headquarters. Understandably, closeness to the elevators was a prized feature for real estate among powerful groups. Thanks to a large, wooden sign it was clearly apparent from afar. Sadly, there was no way of telling what lay beyond the gate as we stood on the walkway in front of it.

“So, we have no choice but to fly blind?” Kitia asked while she caressed the handle of her sword that was hanging from the sash around her waist. She had taken a liking to the finely made weapon after ripping it out of the cold, dead fingers of some fae.

“Looks like it.” I cleared my throat to gain the group’s attention. “But I have a plan, assuming that there is any truth to the secondary nature of this establishment. What do you guys think of using some fae juice to buy ourselves into that guild’s good graces? At least until we find our target.”

Unlike the mortal’s alcohol, which had next to no effect on demons, the powerful life energy from the fae juice provided us with a reasonable buzz. A demon drunk on life energy acted very much like a drunk mortal. The only difference was that demons had already very little inhibition to begin with, and so a drunk demon was something nobody, not even other demons, wanted to share a room with.

“Nonono. Nope,” Uphir was vehemently against the idea, although for an entirely different reason. “That’s ours!” He crossed his arms in front of his chest to show that he wouldn’t budge from his position on the matter.

“So, some of us get the guildmembers drunk while we search for this Rar’moth. And once everyone has trouble standing, we grab him and make a run for it,” Jebril clarified my intentions. “Sounds like a plan. I am in! But what do we do if they don’t want our drink?”

“I know! We could pose as merchants who are trying to sell a product!” Isabella clapped her hands together. “And if anyone makes trouble, we offer them to throw a few free rounds.”

“Do you know how hard I worked to harvest that stuff?” Uphir asked, clearly feeling ignored. “All the hanging and cutting. The vile mess they made when they expired! I had to endure things, I tell ya!”

“Hrrmmm… visit… mortals… get more…” Shax tried his best to console his friend with as few words as possible.

“I know that we can get more, but how likely is it to find more of those fae?” Uphir made his point. “We pretty much culled their entire population. Even if that plane runs faster than ours, they won’t repopulate that quickly! Those fae were old. Hundreds of years!”

That reminded me that I had to pay Betsy a visit before she died off on me. I wanted to see her at least one more time before she turned to dust.

“Quit complaining!” Philomena drove over Uphir’s whining without a hint of mercy. “If it means that we don’t die, then this is a good plan. I don’t know about you guys, but the small payment in souls makes dying on this mission highly unprofitable.”

Uphir’s expression scrunched up as he tried to weigh the worth of the souls he would lose in case of death against losing a likely not insignificant amount of our juice reserves. He proved himself a proper demon when the souls won out. “Fine! But we try our best to buzz them with as little as possible.”

“Everyone remembers the target’s face?” I asked and waited until everyone nodded, assuring me that they had seen the picture of the bounty that came with the contract.

I had no doubt that we would recognize the target. Rar’moth was a strange demon, even though our species' various evolutions came in all forms and sizes. But there was a rule of thumb if you went walking down a busy street.

Most demons had horns and tails, or other demonic features that we all shared. There was also the smooth red skin, given some exceptions like Kitia’s pale complexion or Ex's exoskeleton. But on a whole, you knew another demon immediately from those few traits that stood out.

Rar’moth, on the other hand, was a rat-like creature with fur and a long snout that was filled with shark-like teeth. There were no horns, nor a tail. Based on his picture alone, I wouldn’t have classified him as a demon at all.

Not knowing what else we could do without further information, I gave the go-ahead, “Then let’s blast this!”

Shax spearheaded the way, pushing on the large door to enter Demon’s Tears.

I followed right behind him and found myself inside a roomy bar that stank of hard liqueur, and not the mortal kind, with a faint note of piss and sex on top of it. Smoke of various sources like cigarettes and a genuine hearth that was poorly maintained added to the impression that this wasn’t the cleanliest place. Nonetheless, it was far above what I was used to from my days at the hatchery, a place that seemed far behind me.

To think that my demonling form had harboured thoughts of returning one day. Now, I had other problems than to reconnect with that bleak past or the caretaker for some petty revenge that would likely get me nothing in return.

My attention returned to the layout of the locale that offered several tables and a large bar in the centre of the room. On a round shelf, I could make out a wide variety of bottles that contained unknown liquids.

A stairway led to a second floor which was guarded by two bouncers. The large demons rivalled Shax in size and their expressions said that they were not to be fucked with. Sadly, a generous guard railing prevented us from seeing what was going on up there.

The bar was well visited, and overall only four tables were free.

I studied the customers’ faces, taking careful note of everyone who expressed more than just casual interest in our arrival. When nobody tried to approach us, I went for a free spot at the bar and waited for the bartender to pay us some attention.

Strangely enough, the person who served the drinks wasn’t an imp, but a humanoid demon with six arms and a single, slitted eye. Normally, such worldly tasks like serving drinks were occupied by those who hadn’t yet evolved into their adult form.

The bartender took his time while I exchanged glances with the others who had their eyes mostly on our surroundings. But once he was done mixing two bottles, he came over. “How can we help you?”

“I hoped that we can help each other.” I smiled, showing off my pointy teeth. “You see, I and my companions are traders and merchants of opportunity. The thing is that we are new to this settlement, so we aren’t exactly well known around these parts.”

The other demon narrowed his eye. “If you think that you can swindle us out of some souls, then you are deadly wrong. This isn’t just a simple bar.”

“We know!” Isabella stepped in, layering her voice with a smooth, seductive tone. “Be assured that we don’t intend anything of the sort. But we already tried to sell our product down in the streets and had to find out that none of the lesser establishments down there know to value the quality of our goods. But then we stumbled over someone from your guild and he advised us to seek out business partners on the dome’s upper levels. We were assured that the people up here have the required capital and wisdom to pay the appropriate price. Among other things our contact dropped your name, which led us to pay a visit on our tour of the upper levels.”

The bartender didn’t seem appeased, but he didn’t throw us out either. “What is the name of this individual?”

“Oh, I think he introduced himself as a certain Rar’m… Rar’something…” She frowned prettily, playing the role of the ditsy female perfectly. “Some Rar’ in any case. I am bad with names, but I can tell you that he was a furry one. Didn't look like a real demon if you can keep this between the two of us. Does the individual’s name have any bearing on this discussion?”

Isabella played into my plan perfectly. So much so that I could only admire her quick thinking. She had a way with words and physical expressions that I thought to be supernatural. If I had tried to sell such a story to the bartender, I knew that we would have been dead or out the door within the minute.

She had gone with a part of Rar’moth’s name and added the only distinct feature that was obvious from his picture, hoping that it was enough for the bartender to connect the dots.

He grinned. "Only so that I can decide whether I should gut the guy who sent you here for wasting my time, or whether I should give him a recommendation with the higher-ups,” the demon replied casually. “Could you mean Rar’moth by any chance?”

“Yes! That’s the name!” Isabella clapped her hands with a genuine expression of satisfaction. “Do you know him by any chance?”

“Hrrmm… He is around here more often these days,” the bartender admitted. “What is it that you want to sell?”

Isabella had done a great job at confirming Rar’moth’s presence at Demon’s Tears, but I was afraid that being too nosy would make our friend suspicious. It was my time to rejoin the conversation. “We call it fae juice, cultivated and carefully harvested from powerful mortals!” I summoned a bottle from my new spacial ring. “Care to try a sip on the house? If you are willing to buy in large quantities, we could provide a barrel per week once a secure trade-line is established. On second thought, why don’t you test out our product by giving it to your customers? Once you have assured that we are providing the good stuff, we can talk about business!”

The bartender eyed the bottle in my hand and decided to take it after his decision hung in the balance for a long moment. He moved his hands in perfect synchronisation, opening the bottle with two of them while reaching for a – probably – clean glass with a third.

He poured himself a shot but didn’t drink immediately. First, he took a tentative sniff, followed by dipping a long tongue into the green liquid that smelled of life. It certainly couldn’t be said that the man wasn’t careful and taking his time with evaluating our product.

Finally, he decided to take a sip and sloshed the liquid around in his mouth before he swallowed and downed the entire glass afterwards.

Then he set the glass down with an approving grunt. “And you are saying that you can provide me with barrels of this stuff? What if it does well with my pals and we happen to need two?”

I decided that it was best to keep my answer vague for now. “Like I already said, we aren’t located in this city and would have to import. The entire supply will depend on how reliable transporting the goods will be.”

The barkeep grunted, seeming unconvinced of our proposition, but he at least relented on one important point. “You can try giving out the stuff. We will then see what comes of it once you get regular shipments.”

I made an internal high five and deposited several more bottles on the bar, followed by the others who added their share. That we had split our merchandise among the whole group hopefully didn’t look too strange. After all, we were the supposed strangers in a strange land. Having all of our eggs inside one basket would have looked strange.

The bartender gestured for one of the imps who played waitress, and then our booze was among the people. Due to the strength of the stuff, I was certain that it would work reasonably well even with just one bottle per table. What we had given out was at least twice that much.

Isabella tried her best to keep up some innocent small-talk, but it was apparent that we wouldn’t get any more out of the man without asking obvious questions.

So we settled down at one of the empty tables and played the good little customers while we kept our eyes and ears open and conversed in a hushed tone for the time being. None of us had spied our target among the crowd.

Quite some time passed while we waited and allowed our fae juice to get among the people and into their blood, but it was clear that the strategy hadn’t failed completely when the mood started to change.

Demons began to sing at some tables and conversations became louder and less guarded as time went on. Nonetheless, our target failed to make an appearance, and I was already on the verge of changing our approach when someone new entered the bar through the front door.

It was the rat!

I was about to rise from my seat when Isabella placed a warning hand on my shoulder, holding me back just as a second, humanoid demon entered the bar. He was large, but not as intimidating as Shax or Philomena. Two burning horns curled from his forehead, one of them broken, and his lips were drawn back in what seemed like an eternal sneer to reveal a set of pointy teeth.

No matter his appearance, if I had been my previous self, I wouldn’t have been as wary of this person as I was now. But after meeting someone like Ex, I knew better.

A normal person practically oozed mana all over the place, creating a passive aura that was easily recognizable to everyone who had the ability to sense such things. My training in mana manipulation incidentally gave me exactly that ability.

Common sense would be that the more mana seeped through someone’s grasp, the stronger that person should be magic-wise. And in a sense, that was true.

But powerful warriors like Ex had mastered the control over their mana, giving them the ability to completely stop this passive loss of power. A magic wielder who polluted the environment with his power practically announced his strength to everyone, and also gave away that he wasn’t in complete control of his mana.

The man who was with our target felt exactly like Ex when he meditated. He was a black hole to my mana sense and that didn’t bode well for us. It wasn’t so much that I was afraid of him completely obliterating us, but I had a feeling that facing this opponent wouldn’t go down without causing a major incident. Something we desired to avoid.

I watched in rapt apprehension as the two approached the bar where they had a few words with each other. The unknown powerhouse seemed angered about something, while our target looked like he tried his best to console the other demon.

For a moment, I played with the thought of using magic to listen in on them. But that bore its own dangers which outweighed mere curiosity.

My eyes flicked to the others, and their expressions told me that they had also noticed our target and agreed that the direct approach wasn’t the wisest choice at the moment.

So we sat and drank, and waited.

Our patience paid off a few minutes later when the target's companion bade him farewell with a mighty huff. The unknown demon strode to the stairway like a king and the two powerful guards didn't even question him as he passed them and disappeared on the upper floor.

“Should we wait a little longer, or take our chance?” Uphir whispered a question.

“He is alone at the bar,” Isabella pointed out. “It won't get any better.”

“But what if his friend comes back?” Kitia interjected.

I stood up. “I say we try. We have to get him out of here without causing trouble anyway. Whoever is on the upper floor will remain an uncertainty no matter what we do.”

We finished our drinks and made our way back to the bar, supposedly to have a talk with the bartender. I had spent so much time drinking that I felt a little buzz of my own, but not enough to lose complete control of my faculties.

When we were just a few steps from Rar'moth, four demons barred my way. They seemed like warriors and more than a little drunk thanks to their redder than red complexion.

“Heey,” their leader drooled and pointed a claw at Isabella. “Some fine ass you keep around. Would you rent it out for a quick fuck?”

I looked back at Isabella who appeared less than pleased and retreated further behind me. Then I returned my attention to the drunk demon. This wasn't going as I had planned. “I am sorry, but I don't rent out my minions' asses.”

On one hand, I would have no trouble seeing Isabella get her due, meddling female that she was. But giving her to another male for souls went a little too far. Moreover, I wasn't sure that she wouldn’t rip the guy's dick off or stab him with her tail. Then there was the issue that such a course of action would make me look like a pimp, and I was anything but that.

The other demon was too drunk to get it and continued his spiel. “If not her, then what of your other females?”

“No, fuck off and step aside,” I replied nonchalantly, believing that I had paid as much respect as possible in this situation.

Someone behind me slapped a palm on her forehead.

“Now, listen.” The leader of the other group stepped forward and stabbed a menacing claw at my chest. “If I offer you a good deal, you may as well see it as an ord- Mhh!Mh!”

He didn't get any further, because Shax's hand reached over my shoulder and enclosed the demon's head, muffling him. The tendons in my minion's hand flexed as he lifted the offender off his feet. I had to wince when there were several cracking sounds, like breaking bones. Finally, Shax slammed the guy's head down onto the corner of a table which broke off with the impact and a wet squelch that didn't fit the impact of a skull on solid wood.

For a moment, the room was eerily quiet as all eyes turned to us.

The gears in my brain turned rapidly as I tried to salvage the situation somehow, but it seemed like we had just blown all the good will we had built with this group. Then it clicked, and I grabbed the nearest bottle of fae juice, took a hefty swig, and turned it over as an impromptu club. Facing the downed demon's companions, I roared, “Barfight!”

For a terrible moment, it seemed like the drunk demons all around us didn't get it, but then the bartender unwillingly gave me aid.

“What? Wait! No! You aren't going to smash my-”

That was all it took because nobody told drunk demons what not to do. The room disintegrated into chaos as a slightly more drunk demon started the fight by repeating my battle cry and punctuated his enthusiasm by slamming his fist into a neighbour's jaw.

I proceeded to shatter my bottle on the head of one of the demons in front of me while the others tried their best to keep the rest of the bar off my back. Nonetheless, two of the drunkards rushed past me to go for Isabella who shrieked behind me, but I had no time for that.

The only thing that was on my mind was to react while we made our way to our target the last few steps. I weaved past two brawling demons, dodged a fist that came out of nowhere and shoved the attacker into a table. Using telekinesis, I flipped the table and blocked a group that was on their way in our direction.

“Shax, Uphir, get him! Then it's time for an expedient retreat!” I pointed at Rar'moth who was still standing at the bar with a befuddled expression. “Run back to the warband!”

Philomena stepped forward, swinging an entire table to flatten a demon who was unlucky enough to be in the way.

While the others grabbed our price and hurried towards the exit, I was forced to delay another drunk demon who wielded a chair in each hand and screamed like a maniac. Someone shattered a bottle on my head, and for a moment I lost the overview of the battle, but thanks to my internal mana manipulation I barely felt the blow. Such was the difference between me and the average grunt.

When I came back to pay attention, I saw that Shax and Uphir were already halfway out the door with Kitia covering their retreat. Shax was carrying the goal of our mission while Uphir cackled and stabbed the poor fella with a stick of doom. Luckily, Shax seemed unaffected by the secondary discharge.

Running towards the exit, I quickly looked around to ensure that everyone had gotten out. But then I saw Jebril warding off the two remaining pimps from earlier with a chair.

I cursed and diverted my path. As I reached her, I threw an uncontrolled wave of force magic. Much like when I tried to restrict Ex's movements, I allowed the spell to interfere with the air. Only that this time, the two goons were forced back and away from Jebril.

“Eep!” she shrieked when I reached her and shouldered the demoness. Another wave of force magic activated, and this time it pushed both of us forward and towards the exit.

Just as we reached it, someone called out our escape, but I had no mind to lose time by paying attention to what was happening behind us. Only a few seconds had passed since I called out the barfight, and I had no doubt that soon enough someone powerful from the upper floors would take a look at the ruckus.

We burst out the door and I saw that the others had already made it a long way towards the elevator, with Philomena having her hand on the controls. “Go! We'll find another way,” I ordered because two dozen demons spilled out of the door behind us.

“Wait, what?” Jebril asked, but I was already dashing towards the guard rail that was separating this floor from the open space in the centre of the dome. A burst of telekinesis was enough to propel me on top and over the dangerously minimal protection.

On the way, I touched the handrail and used mana manipulation to sling a fine tendril of concentrated energy around it, allowing it to become solid and extend as I fell into the open space. Jebril yelled like a banshee before I gripped the tendril tight and swung us back towards the dome.

We landed two floors beneath and I cushioned our fall with another burst of force magic.

Jebril swung herself off my shoulder and searched her body for injuries. “Oh, my gosh. Never again throw yourself out of the eighth floor with me. I can't fly!”

“You can float, though,” I pointed out.

“Yes, if I have a few seconds to cast the spell!” she grumbled back. “If you drop me from the eighth I would smack into the ground before I am done casting!”

Then learn to cast faster, I wanted to reply, but I heard screams above us and then a flock of drunk and very mad demons floated into view.

Of course, some of those fuckers had to have wings.

You didn't notice?

“Infernum!” I cursed the other, and then Jebril and I were running, but not along the floor's outer balustrade. That would have made it easy for them to follow us.

Jebril had another idea. She dashed into one of the corridors that led deeper into the dome's outer structure. It was now that I learned that spacial magic allowed for an intricate complex of corridors and tunnels with shops and businesses within the dome's shell.

All the while, our pursuers were hot on our tails. Twice it seemed like we had lost them, only for someone to point us out and scream a few seconds later. They clearly knew the layout of their home better than us, even if they were drunk up to behind their ears. That I also felt a little tipsy didn't exactly help.

I was startled when Jebril suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me sideways into a pathway with a sign that read 'Recreational Area'.

We burst into a huge space much like Ex's training hall, only that this one was filled with greenery. Bushes, trees, and flowers with well-maintained trails in between. They formed an intricate garden complex. It was quite surprising to find such a thing here, but this wasn't Gluttony, it was Lust. What baffled me more was that there were a lot of demons here, and all of them apparently couples.

“What the-”

“Shh... they are right behind us!” Jebril pulled me past two demons who were quite busy doing the deed in the grass right next to the central walkway that led through the naughty park. Once we were sufficiently far away from the entrance, she grabbed my hands and brought them up to her waist while she backed up against a tree. “Summon your wings and cover us. They haven't seen that you have them!”

I got her idea and summoned my wings which I used to block us from sight so that we were hiding right in the open, mostly at least. Then I nestled my face in her neck played the kissing lover who had his partner against a wall.

“What are you doing?” she asked.

“Trying to blend in?” I replied, wondering what I did wrong while I leaned with my hands against the tree.

“Nobody is coming here to kiss,” she whispered back and went for my trousers. “If they see us like this they will know immediately that something is up!” Her deft fingers opened my belt and freed me in seconds.

“Hey, I am not- oh- damn!” I protested weakly, but would I really have been a man if I had stopped a female from giving me a hand-job? But that wasn't as far as the djinn intended to take it. She did something with her own silken trousers while she pumped my growing erection. Then she placed both hands on my shoulders and climbed me.

Her eyes widened when she looked over my shoulder. “They are here!”

Somehow, I was focused on an entirely different thing than on the position of our pursuers when she sank down on me. The sensation was only increased because her walls clung to my erection like an elastic sleeve. Once I was all the way inside her, she wrapped her legs around my waist while biting her lower lip. She was so damned tight that I felt every movement she made with her hips.

I groaned and grabbed her ass for support while she settled in my arms.

“You have to move!” she urged me on while her tail wrapped around mine. “One of them is looking this way. And raise your wings a little higher to shield our faces.”

“This is so fucked up,” I complained, while I tried to comply. “Didn't you have any better idea!?”

“We are demons, not mortals. You really should see to getting some social lessons,” she replied naughtily. “And Isabella was talking about your manhood among the women, so I didn't think it would be a problem.” She wriggled her hips in an irregular, circular motion, hitting all the right places while she stirred me around inside her.

That did it as far as my reasoning went.

I covered her mouth and pressed her against the tree. Then I thrust into her, concentrating only on my own pleasure. Jebril moaned through my hand and gave a slight shudder. It took only a few thrusts to take her over the edge, and then she was coming all over me until her tunnel was drenched and slick.

Someone came up behind us, and Jebril decided to go all out on our play. “Yes, yes! Breed me, master! Knock me up with a whole clutch!”

The whole situation was fucked up, but also kind of kinky. Her play only encouraged me while I laid into her like I had no other purpose, losing all sense of time and reason. The demoness in my arms came a second time shortly after I abandoned my inhibitions.

Someone walked away.

“I think-” Jebril patted my shoulder after some time. “They are gone. You can stop.”

“Like I fucking care at this point!” I growled and switched to long strokes, making sure that I hit her centre every time I thrust up into her, making her whole body bounce against me.

“Oh, fuck!” She rewarded my efforts when she came another time and bit into my shoulder while her walls clenched around me. My only response was to empty all of myself into her while I pressed her against the tree.

It took over a minute of holding her for my mind to clear up and to realize that I had lost control. Once I could form a coherent thought, I slowly pulled out of her and studied the ruffled demoness with apprehension.

Jebril didn't seem hurt, but she looked down between her legs and touched her belly. “Look at that. Nothing came back out. I only meant the breeding as a joke, to ward away that nosy guy, you know. Did you really try to knock me up?”

“Ah...”

She looked up and saw my expression, and then she laughed. “By the Planar Lords, Kitia really wasn't joking when she said that you are inexperienced. Don't worry. Even if I lay an egg, I have no interest in hatching it.”

I blinked and remembered to pull up my trousers. “What if it hatches anyways?”

Jebril rolled her eyes. “Do you know how many eggs a demoness lays in her life? I would be drowning in kids if I regarded each and everyone as valued offspring. And I have no intention of sharing one of my souls with some demonling.” She huffed. “And having an unsouled demonling of mine running around just isn't my style.”

“Then, what do you do with...” I wanted to say 'inseminated eggs', but that went beyond what I could stomach for the day. “... them.”

She shrugged once she had brought her clothes in order. “Smash them, eat them, doesn't really matter, does it? It's only the younger demons who are sentimental about their eggs, but that may be for evolutionary reasons. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be many of us. The stupid ones just drop them somewhere because they can't stomach breaking them. The smarter ones carry them to hatcheries and those with the ability to take care of their offspring do so themselves. I have no problem with preventing overpopulation as long as it isn't a little demonling who is looking at me with puppy eyes.”

Demonlings? Puppy eyes? What was the woman talking about? I only remembered other demonlings as fearsome creatures who could clean up a carcass down to the bones in seconds if there were enough of them. Maybe it was a case of 'A beast that only a mother could love'?

Since Jebril was apparently fine with what had just happened, we made our way back to the dome's centre.

But now that I had seen more of the dome, I wasn't so sure about the 'centre-thing' anymore. Now that I thought about it, a lot was possible thanks to spacial magic. Was the large open space inside the dome truly on the inside? Or was it just another spacial pocket that someone had made and forgotten about?

The elevator was close when my path was blocked by a single demon who brought my thoughts to a dead halt. “Now I have you! I knew that something was wrong back there, but now the commander will have to give the whole reward to me.”

He produced a dagger out of nowhere and slammed it into my belly.

Where it just snapped off.

I hadn't moved because I had sensed that this runt was weak, even if he appeared to be the smartest of the bunch. Or he was simply the one who got the least fae juice thanks to his weakness. In any case, a completely normal weapon had no chance of piercing through the mana shield which I always layered over my skin nowadays. The ring which automatically cast Infernal Shield was no longer a permanent equipment of mine. It was handy, but Ex was right when he pointed out that it was a waste of mana if I couldn't support it with a humongous mana pool.

He looked at me and then at his dagger as if he couldn't believe that I had been running away from him. His mistake was that he believed we had been running from his gang when in truth we had been running from their elites. Especially the guy who felt like Ex.

I grabbed the offender by the throat and lifted him to eye-level with me while I carefully studied his body for any sign of wings. “Can you fly?”

He shook his head, or at least he tried to. My hand around his neck made that somewhat complicated.

Feeling merciful, I tossed him over the balustrade and stepped into the elevator. It took a few seconds for him to start screaming, but by then he was too far away to be a nuisance on my ears.

“That was merciless,” Jebril commented after stepping in next to me.

“He will respawn. That was all the mercy I am willing to give,” I replied while I felt a scant few souls enter my soulwell. “And I didn't feel like drawing out his death overly much.”

Together, we headed back to the headquarters in order to meet up with the others. I only hoped that they didn't have as much excitement as Jebril and me.
