《Alamat (Legend)》Act 2: Beginning of a Journey; chapter 30: A new Face

Though it appears that they have some form of training, and are fighting the soldiers equally, a closer look would actually show that this group of people are disorganized and are actually trying to retreat and disengage from the soldiers. However, the expert teamwork and high level of expertise being shown by the soldiers have them cornered.
“We need to retreat, or we’re all going to get killed here!” A man with a deep voice that appears to be middle-aged shouted at his companions. The man’s build is stocky, but he is not very tall, standing at only five feet and four inches. He has a dark brown complexion, an army-cut hair paired with a thin mustache and a goatee. From his looks, this person seems to be an upright man.
“But Ka Luis and Ka Bryan are wounded, it will be very difficult for us to retreat – not with these damn government dogs surrounding us like this!” a frustrated and annoyed female voice answered.
“Leave them here and just take their weapons! These dogs will not do anything to them.” After struggling for a while, the middle-aged man came to a decision. After making the decision, the middle-aged man crawled to the location where the two wounded people lay and was being guarded by two of their members as well.
“I know that you two also understand our situation right now. If this was any other day, and the ones after us are not the ‘Scout Rangers’, then we will be able to bring you two out of here. But today, we had bad luck, and we ran into them.” The middle-aged person talked to them, his voice heavy with guilt, but his eyes burn with determination.
The two wounded people seemed to understand the situation, and resolutely nodded their heads.

“Take care Ka Ricky and Ka Leah. Make sure to bring the new sprouts to our camp, safely.” The one called ‘Ka Luis’ said.
“Take care, you two. For the movement!” The middle-aged man called ‘Ka Ricky’ answered.
“For the struggle!” Ka Luis and Ka Bryan answered.
“On my signal, throw some grenades on them and we will make a run for it. It will not stop them, but that will deter and slow them down for some time!” Ka Ricky then barked some orders to his companions after his short talk with the two wounded members of his group.
A short moment later, Ka Ricky gave the signal, and some seven members of their group threw a grenade towards the general direction where the Scout Rangers were located. The government’s soldier took cover from the grenades and the ensuing explosions, while the group they were in combat with took the opportunity to escape.
Seeing that the group were fleeing, the Scout Rangers immediately went after them. However, one of the Ranger’s members spotted the two wounded people from the group and immediately called the attention of their leader.
“Hmph! Leaving their wounded behind, typical of rebel scums like them. Once you are no longer useful or becomes a deadweight to them, they’ll just throw you away like those two!” The leader of the group remarked, clearly irritated by the actions of the other group.
“Team Alpha, give them first aid and escort these two men down the mountain! Report what happened here and turn these two over to headquarters! Team Charlie and Delta, we will continue with our pursuit!” The group leader barked some commands and continued their chase. After a few minutes, gunfire can then be heard again, it seems that the team that chased the rebel group was able to find them and engaged them in combat once again.

After a few hours’ pursuit, the rebels were finally able to successfully flee the Scout Rangers, however, it came at a heavy cost of losing eight men on their side despite having the numerical advantage. The only good thing that came out from their exchange against the soldiers were the two new recruits they were able to bring back to their camp.
“Today was really a bad day for us! We lost a total of ten men in just a few hours! Kumander (Commander) will beat the shit out of me this time, even though Ka Leah died.” Ka Ricky, who was lucky to have survived the encounter with a wounded arm, grimaced both at the pain from having his wound tended, and to the thought of having his ass kicked by the ‘Kumander’ for today’s blunder. Most of all, Ka Ricky was afraid of bringing the news to their Kumander that Ka Leah died during the skirmish when a bullet from one of the Scout Rangers hit her face and exited through the back of her head, immediately killing her. Ka Ricky knew that Ka Leah was favored by his Kumander.
“Ka Ricky, the two recruits have been inducted and are now waiting for you.” Ka Ricky was interrupted from his thoughts when one of his members called out to him.
“Hmm. I will be there in a few minutes. Have the men eat their meals, tomorrow, we will have to temporarily disband the camp as this area has become a hotspot, we cannot risk having another encounter with the government forces.” Ka Ricky stated.
