CHAPTER EIGHTY THREE

Sometimes the simplest of attacks produce the best results

~

Walls of earth were quickly rising up out of the ground

They were fairly tall and extended half way around

At some places they’d already stopped lava where it flowed

But one section of wall was slowly started to erode

Crystal joined the group while Boulder kept raising his wall

Enjoying himself, though the lava was quite hard to stall

“Hello Hawk, how was your visit with our dear old friend?

Will we all be conscripted once again in the end?”

“Actually, I met with another king today

A king of ocean dwelling nymphs who had a lot to say

Oak took care of business in the capital quickly

But things have gotten kind of complicated honestly”

Everyone had questions, but Belle was quick as always

“We’ll discuss that later, this isn’t the best of days

Hawk, you try and lure the golems away from the hill

That should make them slightly easier to trap and kill”

Achievement: Priorities in Order

It’s nice to see somebody thinking as clearly as you

Those who make the right call as quickly as that are few

But when you do talk about that, tread quite carefully

I sense something strange happening to Hawk’s deity

Nobody could disagree with her quick suggestion

And after thinking for a moment, they all took action

Hawk flew up and summoned torrents from the humid air

And fired them like a cannon into all the golems there

The water failed to cool them but it hit with such pressure

That it was more than several weaker golems could endure

They tumbled down the hill and landed with a massive thud

Rolling in the lava they created of the mud

They slowly rose like monolithic structures to their feet

Their massive forms dripping with an unbelievable heat

One of them began to climb the hill again, but then

Both of them began to stumble on the ground again

Crystal had been waiting and preparing an attack

And all at once the lava beneath the golems turned black

A pit then opened up and both the golems quickly sank

Appearing fairly panicked though their faces still were blank

Once buried in the ground up to their necks, Boulder appeared

Preparing an attack that in some nations still is feared

He summoned all the metals in the ground toward his fist

Encasing it in armour all the way up to his wrist

It hardened into something like a shiny cannon ball

And Boulder started running with no hesitance at all

And when he swung his arm to punch the massive golem’s head

His friends all dove for cover, fearing they might wind up dead

The moment Boulder’s fist made contact, everything went white

The impact his punch produced was burning fierce and bright

The golems head, along with a good chunk of the hillside

Became projectile dust as a big crater opened wide

“There we go, two golems down, let’s take care of the rest

That cursed one with the mana buffs though, that’ll be a test”

The others came out from their hiding places and looked at the mess

Crystal shook her head more in annoyance than distress

“Save some energy for the rest of those things up there

You always burn through your mana before you are aware”

Crystal sighed but already their plan was underway

And soon five more great golems were destroyed in the same way

But even though they’d taken care of seven of the ten

The volcano was starting to get much hotter again

Belle called everybody to regroup and said quickly

This ancient golem has been gathering its mana up

And it seems that it has just about filled its great cup

It’s likely just about to launch an attack at the ground

Excited by the magma far below that it has found

Hawk agreed and seemed to have an idea or two

“I can’t deal with that defense, I don’t know about you

Anything we tried would just bounce off that massive thing

But I thought of something that may just be called cheating”

She looked at Boulder with a wicked smile and then she said

“It’s time to put those rumours of your past exploits to bed

With help, could you destabilize a portal of that size?

Or was the story of you closing portals full of lies?”

Boulder smiled and looked a little crazy to his wife

“Yes I can, I’ve never told a white lie in my life!

If the rest of you coordinated an attack

I should be able to make the space around that one crack”

He pointed to a giant portal at the golem’s side

Start to summon a spell and filling up with pride

“Just attack it with whatever mana you can find

I’ll go punch the portal now, I hope that you don't mind”
