《A Fungal Dream》Chapter 46. Cocoon

“Kill them! Kill them all!”
The king, dressed in a demonic-looking armor with different wings on its back, was flying in the air, different spells flying out from its hands.
The colosseum was a complete mess, the ground has completely caved in, with several more arms sticking out of it, trying to catch the king.
“Bad King! DIE!”
The spectators weren’t in a good spot either.
The black knights fought against the soldiers posted there, the civilians choking and turning into monsters from the overabundance of black spores in the air.
“Protect the princesses!”
The elven guards gathered around the royalties, erecting an airtight barrier to protect them.
“Ohohoho! What we have here!”
Slowly walking towards them was a bulky black knight, dragging a huge battle axe behind him.
“Two fine-skinned misses, afraid of scary monsters? Let this old man embrace you in his warm hug.”
One of the guards tried to attack him, but he was cut in two in the blink of an eye.
“No, no, no! I want women! Fine-skinned women who are easy to break! I haven’t had any since I was looked up! Come to me! Give them to me! I can barely contain myself!”
Boom!
“KILL KING!”
From the gigantic hole which once was the floor of the colosseum, something crawled out.
Simultaneously, the arms all around the city retreated underground, decomposing and their fragments reforming into that thing.
It was a mass of arms entangled into a ball, continuously puffing out black smoke.
The giant monster roared as the smoke from its body covered up the entire colosseum, sealing the fate of several people there.
“No!”
Full of rage the king flew towards the giant monster, its body filled with crimson energy.
The giant in response extended several of its arms, trying to grab and crush the king, but he was too fast.
“Burn my sword! Curse this world to a cinder!”
The demonic sword became covered in purple flames that somehow seemed to burn space itself.
“Burning Sword of the King!”
“KILL!”
Another volley of black smoke escaped from the monster, now covering the entirety of the area.
The only thing that could be seen in it, was the appearance of a purple sun, which started to burn everything it touched.
*****
As the light from the heavens shone down upon me, the flames started to converge upon my staff.
Then, when the two opposites meet, I felt a burning feeling spread through my body which flew into my scepter.
Before my eyes, the thing burned into ash and from it, a new weapon was born.
A beautiful staff made from two twisting strains of gold and black metals.
On the top of the staff, the two strains separated the golden one taking on the shape of a cross, while the black one was also a cross but was upside down.
Between them was a floating orb that was shining in rainbow color.
What I was surprised about was that even the book I was still holding got hit by the two energies, transforming it.
It became thicker with one of its covers depicting a praying woman surrounded by golden trees and clouds.
On the other one was a horned skull on a black background with a pentagram painted on its front.
At its rim, where the two meet, was a white hue.
When I put my hand on the staff, I could see the system sending me messages.

“Hmm, not bad. Let’s see if it’s as good as it says it is, but first I shall change my shoes for the occasion.”
I breathed out a thick volley of spores absorbing the legs I used to carry my fat self and equipped myself with something better.
From the black cloud I skittered out, my lower body now resembling that of a scorpion, with not two but four scissors, lined with spikes containing paralyzing venom and a six-meter-long tail ending in a stinger, which had the most powerful venom I had, dozed with some of my spores.
“Let’s dance, sweet prince!”
I ran at the prince like a train, holding my scepter as if it was a lance.
“Blade Technique: Upper Mountain!”
Enhancing its blade with mana, the prince swung his sword upward.
With six legs I stopped brusquely evading the attack and retaliating by grabbing his right leg and sending a significant amount of paralyzers into his bloodstream.
“AAAAAAAAA!”
[Alert]
[Breaking Slave Command]
[Cease this action]
“AAAAAAAA!”
I screamed red electricity running through my body, forcing me to retract the stinger and take some steps away.
“Damn… that… king… that curse… still active…”
Still, I injected him with the stuff, and I could see he was struggling to stay standing.
I only need to do his other leg, and his movement will be sealed.
“Let’s try this again.”
I was rushing in his direction but was stopped by an earth spike that shot out from the ground.
“As if we let you!”
It was the comrades of the prince, finally getting out from my binds and rushing to help their leader.
“You are in the way! MOVE!”
I brandished my newest toy and raised it up in the air.
Have you ever had the feeling that you knew how to do something without ever doing something like that? It was the same feeling; I knew the words to say and how to use the power granted by them.

“ Lux! Praesidium! Sanctitas! Da mihi pennas tuas ut verbum pangam! Latus Caelum! (Light! Protection! Holiness! Give me your wings so that I may spread the word! Side of Heaven!)”
From the scepter, a halo of light formed that flew behind my back.
From this white, glowing donut a pair of angelic white wings grew out, big enough to cover my entire body.
As I was looking at them amazed, I felt a surge of power wash through me, allowing me to move faster than ever before.
With this newfound speed, it was a child’s play to evade the attacks of the prince’s companions and counterattack.
First, I took care of the long-distance fighters.
I rushed at the sorcerer and with a precise chop with one of my pincers I decapitated it.
Moving fast enough, I did the same thing with the knight holding the bow before the head of my previous victim could fall to the ground.
“Gotta go fast!”
Feeling my energy quickly draining, I ran behind the remaining warrior and cut his head off before ending the power.
The bodies fell, spraying blood everywhere, which was quickly converted into mold or flowers.
“Now where were we?”
I turned to the prince, who after drinking some potion, was able to stand up.
“I will make you pay for what you did!”
“What I did? My sweet prince, I was merciful there! I gave them a quick death! Unlike your family, I finish my prey quickly and do not torture them…Except when I’m experimenting, but that’s a grey area.”
“Wh-What do you mean, unlike my family? We don’t torture!”
I was taken aback, the expression on his face showed complete sincerity.
“Wait a sec, you are serious! Oh, man I will be kind enough to not talk about that! This will help you go in with a clear mind.”
I vomited out more smoke from which I took out two swords, which had paralyzing poison secreting organs installed on them.
“Let us finish this! Hive Manipulation!”
Using my own power, I made the ground move under his feet, getting him off balance.
Not wasting time, I made the floor move, getting closer to him.
“Sword Arts: Upper Mountain!”
In response, the prince swung his lump of metal up into the air, making a half-crescent moon-shaped energy attack fly towards me.
“Keep dreaming.”
With no effort, I made the ground to move away from the attack but still arrived before the prince.
Snapp,
With two of my pincers, I grabbed onto both of his legs, and with the other pair, I was trying to get his arms.
“No! BURN!”
Without any warning, his entire body went up in flames, forcing me to make some distance between the both of us.
“I, THE FIRST PRINCE OF THE BLACK THONG KINGDOM, ERIC MORGUM, WILL KILL YOU!”
“Then come at me, sweet prince!”
We started to run at each other, weapons at hand.
“Burn my sword, burn till this world sunders!”
The giant blade became covered in a reddish-gold aura, which burned the ground around it.
In response, I grabbed my scepter and concentrated.
“Tartara! Desperes! Damnatio! Afferte ad me flammas tuas! (Hell! Despair! Damnation! Bring your flames to me!)”
The bottom part of my staff became covered in flames, turning into something that resembled a pitchfork.
“Burning sword of Judgment!”
“Parte Orci!( Side of Hell!)”
We clashed our weapons, releasing heat that I never experienced.
At first, we were equal, trying to push the other down, and gain an advantage.
Unlucky for him, I was slowly getting my pincers closer to him, soon being able to-
Slash!
*****
The prince was sure he was going to die.
The weapon that thing used was slowly melting his magic weapon, getting closer to his head.
Then from behind the monster, somebody appeared.
It was that muscular man who saved my sister, his body riddled with wounds of various sizes and severity.
“Blade Magic: Cutting Edge!”
Slash!
Thud!
A spray of blood, something heavy falling on the ground.
The flames disappeared as we parted our blades.
The headless body of Phil twitched, dropping the weapons one by one.
“Watch out!”
if it weren’t for the warning, I would have been dead.
From behind, the stinger of the scorpion stung, but I ducked at the right moment.
The attack went above my head, striking the chest of the monster.
The corpse shacked, then fell to its side, bleeding out.
“Is it dead?”
The muscular man grabbed his hand and helped him stand.
“I never encountered a monster that lived without its head! We are victorious today!”

*****
As the prince breathed in a sigh of relief, the corpse of the monster started to move, as flies started to fly out of the wounds.
“What’s happening?”
As if to answer his question, the words of the world appeared in his head.
[Alert!]
[Powerful monster evolution detected]
[Immediate retreat recommended]
The notice came too late, the monster’s body burst open, releasing a swarm of flies out of its bust as something else stood up.
[Alert!]
[ Completed Dark Apostle detected]
[Immediate Retreat Recommended]
The monster in the swarm of flies screamed the sound resembling the mixture of a human’s voice and the buzzing of a fly.
In the princes and all the spectator's heads, who were seeing this, the words of the world changed color from the usual color they saw, into crimson red.
[-and as Death collects the soul of the deceased, the Thirteenth Apostle, Putrefaction may follow. His green hands and a swarm of flies will end the rebirth of all things and devour the warriors of the Holy War. By his hands, the corps of the world will be cleansed and returned to the earth, so that the foundation of a new world may be built. Those who hid from the reaper will be forgotten and forgiven for their sins, as he will bring them to the garden of flies to witness the birth of the new order and may witness its end when the Fourteenth Apostle arrives, bringing this world into nothingness. ]
[May The Creator have pity on your soul.]
[Amen]
*****
The holy city, under the Cathedral:
In a well-guarded cell located in the deepest parts of the dungeons, was a body.
This body was covered entirely in white flowers, with four bronze taps inserted into it, from which a continuous fin stream of black liquid was flowing out into buckets put under them.
A young priest walked to one of the buckets, and with his gloved hands, slowly poured the black liquid into a vial, reciting prayers while he was doing it.
When he was done he slowly took the vial in both of his hands and walked away, not seeing what was happening.
Not seeing the body moving.
Not seeing it sit up.

The Breath of Creation [DROPPED]
General Summary: Sometimes, the multiverse needs expanding. That's where I come in. But, unfortunately, being a deity isn't all fun and games (and is incredibly complicated), as there are always things working against you. Not even the God of the Multiverses can change that. Another Summary: Twelve souls were chosen to expand into the void surrounding the known universe(s), and were given a grace period in which they would experience a relatively safe expansion of their domains. Once that period is up, however, they are free to interact with each other...and what lurks in the depths of the Abyss, the Void, and the Primordial Chaos. I am one of those souls. And let me tell you, this shit ain't easy. Between trying to raise mortals into an immortal army, with which I can defend my domain, dealing with my children, and trying to maintain the balance between all realms of existance, I have my work cut out for me. Sigh. Now I know why, back on Earth, gods worked in mysterious, invisible ways. There's just too much to be done. Formerly called RE: Deity
