《Class: Mash》Chapter 109: Jill Advancement

Jill’s P.O.V
Jill hovered within her consciousness, staring at a very odd sight. Without hesitation, she decided that whatever was happening was Mash’s fault. However, that didn’t mean it was a bad thing though. Rather than the typical three pillars, there was a fourth. Three were a similar shade of purple but the fourth was black, and she remembered Mash telling them that one of his classes had been a black pillar.
Well, she figured she would start with the odd one out and check the black pillar first. It radiated with a harsh presence, and she shivered slightly as the information flooded her mind.
Envious Monstrous Fairy: Despite being of the fey you associate with lesser creatures and covet the power that they possess. Your jealousy cannot be hidden as you steal their abilities. A master of your space in truth, you control the very strength of the people close to you.
The class somehow felt wrong, and even the description twisted her stomach. It was also something she knew that she wouldn’t be taking. From what the class sounded like it would be similar to Mash’s class, but more focused on her allies. Stealing abilities from her friends would not help the group, and if anything, would only make the group weaker. Not to mention the implication of her veiled envy. A class centered around envy sounded like a terrible decision. Any emotion could be problematic, and there was even the implication that she couldn’t hide her emotions.
Even if she found that endearing in Mash, it was not something she wanted to replicate. It was a cruel joke of sorts, considering how many methods he had to do exactly that. Although, he did stop using meditation for that purpose after Red’s warning.
Dismissing the class before her, she moved on to the three that were identical. It didn’t seem like it mattered, and she reached for the nearest one.
Ambitious High-Fairy: Without knowing the powers you possess; you crave for more, for that which should only belong to gods. The manipulation of space was not enough, and you stepped into the realms of time as well. Both powers are beyond your comprehension, but no longer beyond your grasp.
She couldn’t help but smile upon gaining the information on this class. The name itself held power, and the information highlighted it. It was true that she barely understood what it meant to have spatial magic, and she had no idea what time magic would even give her. However, she was certain that it would be powerful. The power of gods sounded pretty nice too. It was incredibly difficult to move on and check the next class.
Having seen the others with their advancements had made her impatient, but she was not stupid enough to not check her options. Reaching for the next of the two, she grew significantly more confused at the information.
Opportunistic Fairy-Mouse: Scurrying about like a mouse, you dodge anything your enemies try to hit you with. However, every opening is to be exploited, and you devastate them with overwhelming power when they falter. Mastery of time and space leaves no opening unused.

Well, that was a class she was not expecting. She didn’t understand why the class was called a mouse. Even with the description, she wondered if it was meant to insult her. Knowing that the class system was made by someone, she didn’t think it was impossible that they would make classes that sounded insulting. Either way, she didn’t think the class would be as good as the previous one and moved on to the final one.
Unstoppable Blink Hound: Space is your armor, and time your shield. Anticipate any attack with inhuman instincts and unnatural foresight. Strike your enemies, and cling to them while avoiding anything and everything they throw at you. All will yield when you bare your teeth at them.
This was probably one of her best options. The way it was described made it easy to understand, and it sounded like she would be nearly invincible if she took the class. However, there would be a cost and she knew that it would be problematic. There was a more practical reason as to why this class lost to the previous ones. It would clearly be more focused on close combat and would likely distribute its stats more evenly. That would be good for most, but all she needed right now was more mana. Everything else was secondary, as space magic was incredibly inefficient. She could teleport herself a short distance, but even adding one other person more than doubled the cost of the spell. She didn’t want to take a class that would exasperate the problems. With her mindset, she grabbed the first pillar she had approached.
Returning to her body, she noticed Mash looking at her. However, she paid little attention as she immediately thought inward. She never understood how slow Mash had been about checking what his class did after he received it. There was no waiting for her, and she drank in the information and changes.

Returning to her senses, she realized one thing immediately. She was too strong. Could anything even damage her at this point? Even if they were levels above her. Would the mouse or hound class have made her defenses even more potent, was that even possible? With all his strength and speed, she doubted that Mash could hit her. Honestly, could anyone? Unless someone had similar abilities to herself, she doubted that she would be taking any hits.
Several skills stumped her, as their description had been excessively vague. She did realize that she didn’t gain much in terms of damage, but her mobility and defenses had jumped. Grinning she looked towards Mash and noticed the wide-eyed expression he was giving her.
Mash P.O.V
Mash could feel the changes happening to Jill within his draconic domain, and he couldn’t help but be amazed at how much mana she had gained. That was not even considering her new eyes. They were black filled with white stars, and what he could only imagine as depictions of other planets. It was as if she was gazing into space directly. Honestly, it was a bit frightening. That was not even considering the more subtle changes that had occurred. Her rings were gone, but he noticed small gems embedded into her hands. They stuck out the back of her hands as if someone had stabbed her with them. The dirt and blood from her previous fight had vanished, and it didn’t seem like any of the dirt around them would dare to touch her.
He couldn’t hold back anymore and showered her with question after question. After talking and trying a few things, Mash realized that her class advancement was a bit ridiculous. While Luke and Mash both had paths to limitless power, it felt like she had just been given it. Free teleportation to anything within her sight, not to mention three skills that would let her react to attacks. Now, he wished that she had been in the tournament. He had no doubts in his mind that she would be able to win all of the fights. He was relieved to hear that she didn’t gain any new attacks.
For all her defensive capabilities, he didn’t believe that she could hurt him while he was in his dragon form. The only reason the demon’s attacks had done anything was that they could bypass the scales, and even then, he barely felt the damage. He felt bad for feeling relieved in that way of thinking. He should just be glad for her even if she did get the power to beat him. However, he couldn’t contain all his jealousy. Envy was vicious in that way.
The gems in her hand were a bit strange. Apparently, her rings had been used during the advancement, and the gems in her hand matched those that had been on the rings. One was red and the other blue, and both gems seemed to completely impale her hand. She said that she could barely feel them, but he was skeptical.
By the time the knights had arrived, the two of them were playing a game of tag. To make it more interesting, Jill wasn’t allowed to leave the range of his domain. It was an interesting experiment, as he realized that he could see where she would appear after a teleport. Even with that knowledge, he had not been able to touch her a single time. Maybe he could have managed it with one of his forms, but he wanted to do it without them. While they were playing their game, they discussed what anyone could do to even harm her at this point. The only sure-fire strategy would be to block her teleports somehow.
Finally, the knights had arrived, and Mash gave his brother a rundown of what had happened and pointed to where the adventurers were. Only two of them were alive at this point. He had forgotten about them, and the demon's first attack had killed two of the four. He felt a little bad about forgetting about the group, but not for their deaths. They were going to bring that thing to a village. He shivered briefly considering his callousness for a second, but remembered what he had seen in the village.
Mash had already checked a few houses and found that the space mage had been telling the truth. The homes he checked housed only corpses. After checking two, he couldn’t bring himself to check the others. His brother and the knights could handle that. That is what they did, and Jill and Mash headed back to the city. Jill actually teleported the two of them directly there, straight into the training grounds of the mansion. It seemed like she would be able to make her fight after all. He wondered if Red had also advanced yet, she should’ve had her fight already.
