Dear Diary,
The play was great! The actors did a super good job, all the sets exploded and caught fire when they were supposed to and at no other time, and the music was epic. Everyone was in tears by the end.
Except Louis. He mostly thought it was funny.
The party afterwards was epic, too. The band played a couple waltzes, and I was surprised at how many people knew how to waltz. I mean, I sure as heck didn’t know how to waltz before tonight. It’s super fun, though. I’m glad Y taught me. It isn’t hard or anything, once you learn the rhythm.
We go back home tomorrow, so this was kind of our going away party this cycle. It…
We talked it over, after the party, and decided that we won’t spend next cycle here as much. We like being a group, and here we aren’t. All of us love the kobolds, we have our friends and things to do here, but to get that we have to give up our closeness. None of us want to give that up.
So next cycle we’re going to start working our way up. We’ll see how far we can get in a week. The second week we’ll spend with the kobolds. And the third week we’ll just be waiting for the players.
The first day of the cycle we’ll go down to the kobolds, to bring the wolves here. We can’t leave them alone, after all.
We aren’t going to let Staab or Y join us. At least for one cycle. This is mostly because we don’t know where we’re going to respawn. Well, Aya doesn’t know where we’ll respawn. Lilly and I agree with her, that if we’re above our usual respawn place we might be sent to the next one up. Which I think is floor 85? If we die and end up there it’ll be bad, but not horrible. But if six catgirls, a hobgoblin and a kobold randomly show up, that might be bad. Especially if the catgirls on that floor have never left and didn’t know it was possible.

Mika, Kimi and Via think we’ll respawn back on our floor, like always. They’re not worried about it. I understand their logic, but I don’t know.
Well, when Aya said she thought we’d respawn up, I agreed that it made sense. Via looked at me and said “you always agree with Aya, don’t you”. I mean, of course I do, it’s her job to know things! She got that job by being really smart! Not listening to her would be dumb! It’s not that I blindly agree with everything she says!
…Is it?
I’ve been trying to think of times when I’ve disagreed with Aya, but nothing comes up. But like I said, Aya is smart. She said we shouldn’t push the buttons, and look how that ended. So yeah. And she doesn’t know everything, but she says when she doesn’t know something. So if she says something, it’s because she’s sure about it. And she’s always right. So why shouldn’t I agree with her?
Sheesh.
Goodnight, Dungeon.

Dungeon's Path
The only places I have posted the story and allow it to exist are on RoyalRoad, Scribblehub, and my Patreon. So the world ended. Whoopsie? We didn’t even see it coming. Quite literally as it came at us faster than the speed of light. Don’t worry though, it got better. Also, I am not joking about the world ending. Most people say that and mean humans are inconvenienced for some reason. Nope, all matter disintegrated at the atomic scale there for a few moments. Apparently the local universe wasn’t actually stable? Don’t ask me to go into too much detail. It would require both of us to have a few more college degrees than sense, and I at least lack them (both the degrees and the sense). Anyway, the energy/matter/wibbly wobbly strings were at a local minimum and not the universal minimum. Basically, what we took for sea level was actually a nice little mountain lake and when the dam busted so did, well, everything. Now here is where things go a bit off track with what normal meant before. You see magic is real, qi is real, gods are real. Not on old Earth mind you but souls pay little attention to time and space so we dreamed of it. In fact, the closer the shift in reality got to Earth, the closer our dreams got to the new reality. This is basically me tip toeing around the fact that it was a ‘System Apocalypse’. Reality became a video game, I became a dungeon, and this is my story. Doyle Huxley just wanted a normal life but as the above might clue you in on that just isn’t in the cards. He gets to experience a “Path Based System Apocalypse” and some early paths he takes, both literally and figuratively, lead to him becoming a dungeon. The aim is to release chapters once a week on Friday. Cursing will be avoided and no naughty adult action will take place in the story.

Teddy Bear
As it would stand, the truth of the matter was that aliens had visited Earth before. Roswell was neither a hoax nor unique. It was simply a consequence of a world growing smaller as communication systems became more and more advanced, partly a result of said visitations. For the most part, past interactions between one of the planet Earth's more intelligent species of lifeform and the alien visitors were along the lines of obscure scientific surveys and tests disturbingly similar to attempts by some human scientists to estimate the intelligence of simians. For any species capable of travelling the stars. Visiting planet Earth made about as much sense as backpacking through the Ural Mountains of Siberia with nothing but a flint and a compass. That is to say, most people would prefer to stay close to someplace within walking distance of a mall or a population density slightly higher than four sapient beings per parsec. Still, statistically speaking, there are bound to be some weirdos who find joy rides though a nowhere solar system fun. Just buzzing a frantic farmer or two and playing chicken with an F-16 for the heck of it. Maybe even bring home a bovine to show off to the guys at the office.

The Great Demon Slayer Gatsu-be
It is an age of Cultivation, and battle-weary Chi-Wei Nic moves to the village of West End, where he discovers that his neighbor is the eclectic grandmaster Gatsu-be Jai. As he and Gatsu-be become acquainted, Nic is thrown into a world full of demon killing parties, guild politics, and unrequited love. Gatsu-be, though at the height of his cultivation, yearns for the love of a woman who chose another man. Dai Zee, stuck in a loveless marriage and used only as a weapon, dreams of what could have been - and gets a taste for it after she is reacquainted with Gatsu-be through Nic. THIS IS NOT A DEMON SLAYER FANFIC! This is an adaptation of the 1925 masterpiece, The Great Gatsby, considered by critics to be one of the greatest novels ever written. It is a portrait of a prosperous wuxia society that's full of literary intrigue, resounding metaphors, and dazzling glimpses into the chi and ether usage of legendary martial heroes. The Great Gatsby entered the public domain on January 1st, 2021.

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
