《Celestial Journey》37] - [Status]

"Sir, I do know about it, the vice-principals and the principal himself gave this old master some insight into the next realm."
"Then, if you see me do it, what does it mean?" Waiting for the obvious answer, he watched as Elder Cao connected the dots.
"Senior! This one was blind! I must apologize, but... why has senior come all the way here, to our Dawn Academy, even going as far as entering disguised as a second grade student?" Bowing, the old man cupped his fists respectfully, somewhat aware of Alexander's superior status.
"Do I need a reason? I needed to stay in Galla, and since your academy seemed interesting, I simply decided to do so."
'Why are all seniors so eccentric? While the principal is pretty normal, the two vice-principals are definitely not!'
"Senior, what do you intend to do now, if I may ask?" Hoping to have Alexander leave, Elder Cao still tried to be amicable.
"I'm not sure, do you have an idea?" Glancing at the old man, he waited for his answer.
"Senior, if you feel like it, why not come to the Origin Tournament that takes place every millennia? It is near the selection of participants! If you are willing to wait a few weeks, then why not depart with us?" While Elder Cao intended to have Alexander leave, he preferred to keep a good relationship with such an expert, going as far as inviting him to stay further.
"Mmmh~" Pondering, Alexander took a few seconds to respond.
"Fine, it's not a bad idea, but tell me more about it. I don't want to get there and understand nothing."
"That's not a problem senior, the Origin Tournament is, as the name suggest, a tournament. But it is meant for the younger generation as nobody above the peak of the Grand Tribulation Realm can participate."
"As for who are those participants, at the exception of a few cultivators that possess recommendation letters, the only ones who will partake for the spots are either students of our Dawn Academy, clansmen of the Gui and Liao Clan and members of the Grand Order."
Surprised, Alexander had to ask for confirmation.
"Grand Order? The Grand Order is a participant?"
"Indeed senior, while they are often secretive, the descendants of the Grand Order's officials will participate." Elder Cao did not understand why Alexander only reacted to them and not the others, the Grand Order being the government's substitute for Galla, they were very popular, as each guard, guard captain, guard commander, and officials were all members.
"Whatever, let me know when you guys depart, if the Grand Order makes things difficult for us, then they'll hear from me!"
Exchanging coordinates along other mundane conversations, Alexander sat on the crater below that was made when he used the [Qi Overload].

After a couple of weeks, Elder Cao flew back to him.
"Senior! We'll depart right now, if senior still insist on coming along, then please feel free!" Cupping his fists, Elder Cao was extremely polite to Alexander, who stood up and followed behind.
Reaching a bunch of giant carriages pulled by gigantic beasts, Alexander nodded.
'Not bad, the arrays are quite good, the same goes for the beasts, most are either Heavenly or Phantasmic beasts.'
Having carriages being pulled by the beast equivalent of the Heavenly Venerable Realm and Divine Phantasm Realm showed the influence of the Dawn Academy. Being capable of taming even a single Heavenly beast was a tremendous achievement, let alone a Phantasmic one.
Traveling above the tall mountains of Ascended Galla, Elder Cao looked in front, at the seated Alexander.
"Senior, our Dawn Academy is quite influential, therefore we managed to secure front row seats, I hope that senior is satisfied with this."
"It doesn't matter, really. But since you went through so much, this one won't tarnish your reputation."
Cupping his fists, Elder Cao did not utter a word for the rest of the trip.
A month later, Alexander exited the carriage alongside Elder Cao. Letting the old man do his tasks, he patiently waited.
Like this, Elder Cao made sure to give instruction to all members of the Dawn Academy, as he was the figure of highest authority within their group.
"Senior, everything is ready, but I must apologize, the principal could not make it today, and will only be able to pay a visit to senior at a later date."
"No worries, I don't care either way, now, let's get going! I'm quite curious about Galla's younger generation!"
-----
Seated close to an arena, its size into the dozens of kilometers, Alexander observed a young man on the stage.
'Just from this guy's haircut, I can tell he is the announcer.'
On the arena, a blonde haired young man was waiting with frenzied legs, his haircut quite unique to say the least.
A few hours later, everyone was seated comfortably. Noticing it, the young man cleared his throat, and once prepared, circulated his Star Qi around his throat and lungs before shouting.
"Welcome! I am Verzas, today's announcer for this millennium's Origin Tournament. This is where countless geniuses will fight for the title of strongest, giving their respective force a surge in status! Now, today's planning is for the preliminaries to be completed. After a few Universal days, it will be the real start, as the single elimination duels will take place, until the strongest of all is elected through pure fighting prowess!"
His voice booming, the young man did not stop, unfazed by the countless powerhouses lurking all around him.

"Now let me remind the rules to everyone! The tournament will last until a single cultivator is left standing during the final. Anyone at the Heavenly Venerable Realm and above is prohibited from joining! Anyone below the Heavenly Venerable Realm is authorized, even if they are mortals! Killing is prohibited, crippling is not."
"During the fights, no attacks are prohibited unless they are meant to kill! One is eliminated only if they either die, become crippled, become incapable of fighting, exit the arena's boundaries or admit defeat! The use of artifacts, pills and such third party items is allowed."
"Now, if you agree to those rules, you can participate in this tournament."
A loud gong reverberating, it signaled the start of the tournament.
Among cheers from the crowd, the giant arena started to divide itself into smaller arenas. On them, puppets, humanoid and beast-like, stood tall onto each smaller arenas.
Without halt, countless blurry figures flew at high speed, trying to be the first to reach an empty arena.
After rounds of fighting and bickering, all arenas were occupied by young talents.
Glowing brightly, all of the puppets' cultivation bases started to shift. Some increased, while others decreased.
Once all of the puppets had the same cultivation base as their living, young opponents, they attacked furiously.
"Argh !"
"Take this !"
"Die !"
Fight after fight finished, as either parts of puppets or bloody organs and fleshy members fell onto the ground.
Following this trend, a couple of days went past, as both Alexander and Elder Cao along the other elders were bored out of their mind.
After the preliminaries, the fights started to become more and more interesting, but as both Alexander and Elder Cao were growingly enjoying the show, a booming voice was heard, its clear hostility directed at the seated Alexander.
"You! Are you the one who forcefully entered Ascended Galla?! You must give me an explanation today!!"
The voice owner's aura surging, many people gasped as more and more spectators managed to recognize the loud man.
"It's Hu Guanting!"
"No way! It's really city lord Hu! And next to him, are these two the left and right hands?! Look at all these soldiers around them!"
"Indeed! Nobody else could stay this close to the city lord otherwise, even the soldiers behind are not daring to get this close to him!"
"Shhh! Do you want to die?! Even a single one of these third order commanders is strong enough to flatten you!"
Frowning, Alexander looked to his left, straight into the city lord's eyes.
"Kid, are you talking to me? You better think before you speak!"
With narrowed eyes, Hu Guanting released his aura fully, showing to everyone present his powerful Ascension Realm third layer cultivation base!
Unfortunately for all spectators near him, they were instantly turned into pools of blood on the ground, the pressure of his aura too much for them to handle.
Fleeing from this horrific aura, the space around Hu Guanting soon became deserted.
"You want to play with status?! Bring it on then!" Not intending to hide, Alexander released his near peerless Ascension Realm tenth layer cultivation base, quickly suppressing Hu Guanting's own.
Feeling the difference in cultivation, his face went pale, as his earlier fiery vitality was extinguished, as if a lit match dropped into the freezing ocean under the roaring thunderstorm.
'What is this dog shit luck?! They never told me it would be a senior that had transgressed. Are these idiots trying to kill me!?'
His teeth clattering, Hu Guanting bowed deeply, his fists cupped.
"Senior! Please be merciful, this city lord was truly insensitive, bothering senior with my bold words! Please do not take offence! I only tried to protect the city, if senior had told me, I would've gifted senior a grand welcoming ceremony!"
Hu Guanting was truly cursing his subordinates. Heading for the Origin Tournament, he had not expected to find the mysterious trespasser of Ascended Galla. But as the most influential expert of Ascended Galla, and head of the Grand Order, Hu Guanting had to make a move, lest he would lose face.
Yet, how could he have known that the so called mysterious trespasser was actually a peerless expert? Someone capable of upsetting all forces of the Universe without inquiring trouble? Especially now, has an Overlord, Hu Guanting was truly a powerhouse of the Universe, inspiring respect from all, but what he had not compared to the strongest experts, was an Immortal Body and an Immortal Soul. Actually, his lifespan was still limited!
So, without the ability to survive from anything and everything like Alexander, Hu Guanting had to be careful.
And careful had he been his whole life, bowing his head to the strongest experts, always giving them face, praises and gifts, all in hopes of them sparing his life later down the road.
But now, all of his efforts throughout millions of years had been wasted by his worthless subordinates!
'What did I do to deserve this?! If I die today, these idiots better pray I don't find them!'
While Hu Guanting was blaming them, the subordinates themselves, including the right and left hands, were terrified. Not only was Alexander far above their mighty city lord, but the city lord himself would grind them into fine paste! While Hu Guanting was not immortal, he still had enough lives to kill all of them!

The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)

The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
