《Celestial Journey》19] - [Instinct Core]

Alexander, having already changed back from his old appearance, sped up before soon reaching the top of the Lower Realms.
'Now the question is, do I stay there, or go and make a mess in the higher planes...' Pondering over his next course of actions, Alexander stood unmoving for a while.
'Oh I know, I'll just stay there for bit before heading toward the Blazing Sun Sect of that old burnt head.' Remembering the old man with fiery orange hair attacking him out of nowhere, Alexander was not planning on letting him go so easily.
'I forgot how good it felt to mess with other races, counting the young girl from last time, I have only screwed over three members of a different race since I was unsealed...'
'I should do more!'
Every being in this Universe possessed an Instinct Core, floating right above the Dantian. This core was old-gold colored and resided within the same space as the Life Roots. There was no known way in this Universe to get rid of either of them. But since it was also impossible to influence them directly, nobody cared to find out.
This rendered killing someone by using their Life Roots directly simply impossible within this Universe. Being in a different space also meant that both of them would stay present even if the fleshly vessel was destroyed. If the living being was alive, then these two would be here as well.
The main function of the Life Roots were to keep track and show the life expectancy of a living being.
The Instinct Core however was different. It had a direct impact on personality by pushing their instinct as much as possible. One of such effects was the drive to keep their race alive while simultaneously dominate all others, seeing all other races as pathetic bugs that deserved to die or submit.
Of course such a thing not only caused war across the entire planes, but also pushed each being to go as high as possible.
On top of that, the more powerful the being, the more powerful the Instinct Core's influence. Making Overlords like Alexander and many others true extermination hazards for every other races. Only humans, no matter how low the tier, would have a chance at not getting played with.
This is also why Alexander was so harsh on the young beastmen he had met. Since they were not complete humans, at least not enough for Alexander to overlook, they drove his Instinct Core's ire.
Not to mention that Alexander himself never really had any sympathy for other races in the first place. While he would not have actively searched for their destruction, he still would not have cared even if they died right in front of him.
In the end, the human race was the ultimate winner, reigning over the Universe as the vast majority. Though some beings would escape their clutches.
These fleeing races would end up within the Lower Realms for the majority.

Important to note however, was that the Instinct Core did not hinder the slaughter of their own race. While it acted during extermination threats, it did nothing for that matter if otherwise.
'Let's find worlds devoid of humans!'
Speeding up, Alexander took many days to finally pass by worlds fully occupied by other races. Surprising him after arriving though, was the sheer scale of these worlds density.
'The hell?! There is an entire star system of them!'
Orbiting a bright and fiery green star, Alexander saw world after world, featuring no human apparent whatsoever!
'Tier-1, Tier-2... Even Tier-3...'
'Time to clean this place a bit!'
Pushing his Star Qi throughout his body, Alexander still held back massively.
'No way I'm wasting my sparse Celestial Qi on these dogs! But seeing these low tier worlds, even my Star Qi feel overboard!'
Indeed, for Alexander to even bother using Star Qi was showing how powerful he was. Nobody would waste their Star Qi like this unless they had too much of it.
Since Qi would work, let alone True Qi or even Emperor Qi. Why go so far as to use the even stronger Star Qi ?
But to an Ascension Realm Overlord, it did not matter.
'Let's just use a normal palm strike.'
Gathering his Star Qi inside his entire right hand, a bright deep blue light along some white spots that looked like flickering stars appeared around his right hand. The moment he felt his hand ready, he simply pushed it forward casually, sending a palm strike toward a Tier-2 World, the closest one to him.
As his arm fully extended, a gigantic palm print of Star Qi shone brightly within space. This gigantic blue and white palm, the size of an entire world, rapidly approached its target.
On this world, countless creatures, from animals to beast or even beastmen, elves, demons and so on, all of them saw the gargantuan palm close in on their sky. With dread and denial filling their faces, all they could feel was despair before everything turned black.
In space, one would see a giant depression the shape of a palm print taking a quarter of the entire world, as ravines and canyons formed all around.
Expecting this result, Alexander smiled at his handiwork, knowing full well what would happen next, after all why would he spare anyone? Even if there were some humans mixed within, he would simply turn a blind eye to them.
Indeed, a few moments later, the entire world simply crumbled into pieces, orbiting the green star like always, this time resembling a sea of asteroids.
Turning his head to look around, Alexander snorted.
'Let's just obliterate them, then I'll go play with this fucker's sect!'
Right after, Alexander's figure could be seen bursting with an unfathomable aura.
'I won't waste attacks on these insects. I'll simply use the [World Shattering Arts].'
Putting himself in a striking position, he aimed at the next world, before pushing his arm forward, his index finger like a piercing sword!

It did not take long for the shockwave of his finger to connect with his target, obliterating its center, opening a gigantic hole in the process.
Seeing the already crumbling world in the corner of his eyes, he did not stop.
Like this, Alexander shattered world after world using either the [World Shattering Palm], [World Shattering Fist] or [World Shattering Finger].
A few minutes later, after having destroyed seventeen worlds, Alexander teleported at the Lower Realms' edge before walking past it and teleporting once again.
Teleporting again and again, Alexander soon arrived at the edge of the Primordial Main Worlds. Passing through the purplish barrier, Alexander did not stop flying up in a specific direction, ignoring the beauty of the layer he was in. Its many shades of red being prevalent along a myriad of other colors.
One would realize upon seeing this layer that worlds were much more sparsely distributed here. It was mainly so because of the requirement for a world to be here. The worst worlds here needed to have at least Emperor Qi as their worst energy type along an age of over one quadrillion years.
Turning invisible even for the Divine Sense of most Ascension Realm Overlords, he soon arrived at a breathtaking sight.
Orbiting a gigantic white and orange sect-like structure, hundreds if not thousands of Tier-10 Worlds could be seen, as if an array made only of planets.
'As extravagant as ever...' Said the man whose sect had the exact same array.
'Don't worry you old man, I won't destroy your little array just yet... I'll first have fun with your future generation of masters!'
Already eyeing the disciples of the Blazing Sun Sect, the invisible Alexander teleported once more, leaving behind unassuming spatial fluctuations.
After spying on the sect's disciples for a few weeks, Alexander managed to obtain the information he needed.
'So they use a Sealed World for training purposes... What a great find!' Smiling from ear to ear, Alexander did not waste time, teleporting again and again before leaving the sect's core territory, reaching their inner territory where the Sealed World was situated.
Around the Sealed World was a natural meteor, frozen in place using powerful arrays.
Sitting on top of the meteor, he closed his eyes.
Like this, Alexander waited for a few years...
Noticing a group of people approach his location, he could not hide his excitement.
'Here they are!'
Releasing his powerful Divine Sense that few could match, Alexander secretly probed the group ahead.
'For the elders, all eight are at the Dimensional Monarch Realm, as for the disciples, they are young, really young... Being at the Grand Tribulation Realm, this is actually perfect! Hahaha! What good luck!'
Alexander was truly surprised by his luck, since in the cultivation world, anyone below the Heavenly Venerable Realm could not revive after complete death! Being the major realm below, the Grand Tribulation Realm of course did not offer anything of the sort. Below the Heavenly Venerable Realm, death of the soul was truly the end!
'But still, using eight Dimensional Dominators for a bunch of trash, it's weird!'
How could Alexander not be bothered by this. With him at the Ascension Realm, the highest realm of cultivation inside this Universe, he was only two major realms above these elders, with only the Primordial Divinity Realm in between them! As for the Heavenly Venerable Realm, it was also only two majors realms below the elders, with the Divine Phantasm Realm in between the two. This meant that the disciples were quite weak for such a powerful sect.
'It's good, very good! They won't even know how their disciples died then, since they don't benefit from the contract.'
After becoming a peak stage Heavenly Venerable, one would have a contract with the Heavens. If one was killed, they would be reborn and given everything they had back if they want, cultivation included. After they do, if they happened to die again before becoming a Heavenly Venerable once more, they would die for good.
Though there existed some regulations over this, every peak stage Heavenly Venerable and above possessed three chances of sort.
If they died, regained their cultivation, then died again and again, using all three chances, it would cause each death after this third and final chance to cause a decline of one whole major realm each death.
Put simply, an Ascension Realm expert that died for the fourth time would regress to the Primordial Divinity Realm after gaining their cultivation back. If they died for the fifth time however, they would go down two major realms, from the Ascension Realm to the Dimensional Monarch Realm.
This effect was constant.
There had been cases where hiding cultivators that had reached the Heavenly Venerable Realm and died right after, all of this repeated over and over again, caused them to regress many major realms down. The record holder of this was an unlucky cultivator that died so often past the Heavenly Venerable Realm that this same cultivator had regressed fifteen whole major realms after receiving their cultivation back.
This meant going from the powerful Heavenly Venerable Realm, where one was respected by countless, to a little Saint Emperor ant. Anyone would have turned mad from this!
This was why killing a cultivator beyond the Heavenly Venerable Realm secretly was hard and killing them for good even harder. Alexander himself only died once, so while it was impossible to kill him at his current cultivation level, if it were, he would still be able to regain a hundred percent of his cultivation if he happened to get killed two times.
The only way to bypass it would be to kill the cultivator before the Heaven's could handle back everything, as the process still took a few minutes.
