Chapter 1583: A Bird Should Have The Pride Of A Bird

The one month journey was not long.

They were just returning to the places they had been to and Gu Mengmeng could not help but feel emotional.

The last time she had been on this path, Gregory and little shit were still by her side.

Yet this time, the people are gone.

When they returned to the stream, Gu Mengmeng could not help but shake her head with a bitter smile.

Without her wings, how could she get up to Motou Mountains?

“The promises I made with him, seems like I could never keep them…” Gu Mengmeng felt desolate. Looking at the highest peak, she felt so lost and helpless.

Lea held her shoulders and laughed softly, “Fool, didn’t someone already think of a solution for us?”

“Hmm?” Gu Mengmeng was very curious.

With a turn of his narrow eyes, Lea said, “There, isn’t there someone coming to fetch us?”

Gu Mengmeng glanced sideways and far away, and spotted two vultures flying towards them with wide opened wings.

Their body sizes were not much different from Gregory’s but she could easily tell that that was not Gregory.

When the two vultures landed, they bowed respectfully and greeted, “Great Messenger.”

Gu Mengmeng narrowed her eyes as she felt that they look familiar. When she thought more clearly, she recognised one of them to be the first partner of Lucas.

She immediately understood. Lea had used his identity as the Fox King to order Miranda, so her partner had no choice but to follow Lea’s order to be their chauffeur.

As they were males from another family, it was inappropriate for Gu Mengmeng to go on their backs. Fortunately, Lucas brought a large piece of beast skin, that could wrap her up and be carried by their claws, to fly directly to Motou peak.

The other vulture carried Elvis, Lea and Auretin to the little cave that Gu Mengmeng and Gregory had stayed in for seven days in the past.

The great air pressure made Gu Mengmeng feel dizzy. To stay conscious, she bit the tip of her tongue lightly. She knew that the wind at Motou Mountains would only stop during half a day of this dry season, so if she had lost consciousness, then she would have to wait another day to meet Gregory.

Forcing herself to stay awake, she finally made it to the peak of the mountain.

The scenery looked as beautiful as last year, but Gregory was no longer with her.

The cold spring was still glistening with light glow. Gu Mengmeng squatted beside the cold spring and through the clear water, she could see the pair of wings that lay asleep at the bottom of the spring.

That was Gregory’s wings, the one that had once carried her to travel around the 6000-meter high skies and looked over the entire Motou Mountains.

Gu Mengmeng, as though possessed, extended her hands, almost wanting to touch that pair of wings. Before she could touch it, a sudden gust of wind blew, causing the spring water to move.

Gu Mengmeng kept her fingers and gently touched the feathers on her right ear. She smiled and said, “I know, I know. The 1000-year-old ice cold water is so cold that it harms the hands and body, and I should not be touching it.”

The breeze blew again, causing the feathers on her right ear to sway. It was as though someone was laughing softly and approving what she had said.

She walked to one of the cave at the mountain peak. She knew that the other side had originally kept Samuel’s body, so this side should be where Gregory was.

“Great Messenger…” Lucas held Gu Mengmeng back and shook his head, saying, “Birds have birds’ pride. He must not be willing for you to see him in his pathetic state.”

Gu Mengmeng stopped and looked at Lucas. After a while, she smiled and said, “You are right, he does not want me to pity him because of his miserable state.”

She sat down with her legs crossed by the cold spring, then said to the pair of wings, “Did you know? Samuel has revived. He took away the wings… I can no longer fly. So, you should quickly come back. Didn’t we make an agreement… We are going to choose a day with nice weather and you are going to fly me two rounds around Motou Mountains?”
