Alright. So, what can I evolve into?

Evolution [Young Dragon] [Young Drake]

Young? What does that mean? What is considered young by System Voice, anyways? My race is "Dragon Hatchling". It's clearly describing me as a newborn, so does a "young" dragon mean, that I will grow up?

The description doesn’t mention it anywhere, but could I maybe grow a bit taller with this? Evolution sounds awesome if it can turn me into a proper dragon.

It fascinates me how fantasy this world is. I wouldn't be surprised if races like elves and dwarves existed in this world. To be honest, I would be displeased, if this world only had humans. Well, of course, if there are any humans at all, ‘cause I literally have no information about this world.

...Wait, there is a skill called [Humanize]. Its description says that it will transform me into a human.

I-I’m just rambling here, ignore me…

A-Anyways, this evolution offers me two choices. Either stay flexible with a chance to evolve into a winged dragon or commit to being stuck on land.

…Becoming a drake doesn’t sound that bad. The description explains that its maneuverability on land is its strongest feature, a trait that would be invaluable in this environment. I could see myself benefiting a lot from becoming a drake. Staying nimble and growing faster would help me now and also in any future fights. If they can’t hit you, you can’t die…nor feel any pain

In comparison, I would become a jack of all trades with the [Young Dragon] option. I would have wings, that are useless until I mature…and that’s pretty much it. There is the fact that this evolution can “freely” evolve further, but what does “freely” exactly mean here? Will I be exempt from flying dragon choices, if I don’t pick this option? What evolution choices does a drake have? So, many questions.

So, this is a dilemma between a massive short-term advantage over a, supposedly, long-term one.

What will yield the most advantages? Should I just go with the versatile evolution? I can develop my status and skills, regardless, of the choice but not opting for the [Young Dragon] could close all my chances to fly. If I want to run faster, I could buy some of the agility or stamina-based skills. The [Young Drake] could give me those skills naturally, but I have no proof of that…

Oh my gosh, who turned up the temperature? Oh wait, it’s just me. Kidding. *chuckle*

Joking aside, I am feeling a warmth inside myself circulating through my whole body; invigorating every single cell. A cycle of destruction and regrowth of my body is progressing inside me. The pain is not noticeable. I know it hurts but all my senses are dulled for some reason.

So, this is what evolution feels like. It reminds me of my growing pains just without the pain itself. I dunno how I know this, but my body is telling me that I’m getting stronger every second. It’s comforting to know that results are produced.

*Yawn*

…I bet I could beat any kobold after evolving, hehe. Oops, shouldn't be so conceited. Two low-level kobolds nearly defeated me after all.

Hmmm? Mhmm, yeah, that was a good sleep. It seems I woke up during dawn, so I slept right through the evolution process. Will this always happen, when I evolve? If so, then I should really be careful next time and find a more secure place to evolve. Some random bush won't protect me when I'm all alone and vulnerable.

It’s ok though. I didn’t die, so there is no need to worry about it. I’ll remember to be more careful the next time. Frankly, I feel so much more refreshed now.

So, how do I look like ~

First impression: My body is slim and lean from my tail up until it reaches my chest, which seems to be a bit bulkier now. It seems two horns have grown on my head, while my neck has turned quite slender.

I actually look like a dragon now. I don’t just mean my appearance, but also my body mass. The bush that was able to cover my whole body, is now unable to hide my head and tail. I’m still quadrupedal but I think I grew up to the size of an iguana.

In just a matter of days, I grew up from a puny lizard into an acceptable baby dragon.

I could make an advertisement for how crazy it sounds.

By following my training regiment, even your new-born can turn into a dragon just like me.

*Chuckle* I’m stupid.

Huh? Now that I got some time to adjust, I can feel something moving on my back. Are those…my wings? Moving my long neck around, I touched my newly formed limbs with my head. Y-yup, this foreign sensation, exactly like the one I felt when I touched my own tail. Very ticklish but the webbing is pretty soft.

Now I wonder how much my stats have grown. Profile.

Oooh, not bad. My stats were already higher than those two kobolds, but now it completely overshadows both. With the disappearance of [Depression (minor)], some of my more negative thoughts have vanished. Everything still sucks, but it seems my outlook has brightened up a bit.

This deserves a celebration!

…I still sound like a lizard. I mean dragon. I question why I believed otherwise. Anyways, becoming a [Young Dragon] also gave me a few new skills and improved others. I'm perplexed why System Voice didn't announce it.

It doesn't really matter but I guess I was sleeping very deeply. I needed some proper sleep.

It seems like I got the enhanced fang and claw skills from the 50 SP list, another enhanced growth skill in addition to three resistance skills related to my magic elements. With my first offensive holy element spell, I now can level them all up by hurting myself. My parents won’t be happy to hear that…

Now that most of the skills I planned to get were already earned, I think I should also buy [Space-Time Magic]. I really want that storage magic. I’ve seen some random stuff that could be use as spices, so I would like to collect some of them for future cooking. It also wouldn’t hurt to prepare some rations; in the case, I fail to hunt something. Hopefully, this storage magic is like those from Earth's fiction; the time stopping storage one.

It wasn’t lying that it drains a lot of mana. I should probably be careful when I train this skill, and not use it randomly like this. I really, really need more mana. Let’s put it as a side objective to get more mana.

It’s a nice speed boost, though.
