Nice! That’s breakfast!
Two days have gone by since my first kill and I have been able to sleep a bit better, after that. The sleep still wasn’t high quality though, ‘cause trying to stay cautious of my surroundings is disruptive. I kept waking up multiple times during the night, but I guess I am now getting some sleep. I feel less tired, so it’s better than insomnia.
I’ve also relocated to a new strawberry bush with an abundance of berries.
While I now lack my original reason to go hunting, I still need to grind the levels.
The target today is once again, another [Loopabit]. I called it Jackalope the last time but I identified it, so that confirms the name. This time I tried a different attack plan. Unlike the ambush from my first attempt, I've decided to use mostly magic and chose to block the rabbit's escape route with a wall of earth while blasting it with fire from range.
I think killing something from afar seems to be better for my conscience. Doing it up close and personal was horrifying, while magic avoids all the slicing, crunching and blood.
…Maybe I should find some magic to help me with dismantling…
Sigh, well whatever.
Like I mentioned last night, I’m planning to go power leveling. This does mean that I have to leave some corpses untouched if I wish to gain skill points faster. Huh? It's a waste you say? Well, yeah but only for now. I checked up on a few more skills in the list to see which skills were worth buying. Besides the 50 SP ones, I did find skills worth getting before taking [Humanize].
I do want to become a human as soon as possible but neglecting to take cheaper and useful skills would come to bite in me in the backside in the future. I'm still in the early levels and the maximum level is far off, so there is no need to rush it.
One of those skills I’m interested in is [Space-Time Magic]. Identify!
Space-Time Magic
Grants the user control over space and time with mana. It requires a high amount of mana to fully control. Requires: 550 SP
You see, I was wondering if there was a way to summon a storage akin to the inventory system in games, seeing how this world is so game-like. However, neither calling a command nor looking up for the skill helped me. While looking over the skill list, I found this beauty. It’s only a hunch but I might be able to summon a storage from this skill. Also, the thought of teleporting sounds exactly what [Space-Time Magic] should be able to do.
I also want to get [Enhanced Mana Capacity] for 100 SP and [Enhanced Mana Growth] for 150 SP to help alleviate the supposedly high mana cost for [Space-Time Magic].

With the 3 last 50 SP skills, my combined SP goal would be 1000 SP. Just like the cost of [Humanize].
I also considered taking the other growth improving skills for the other stats, but for now, I’ll just buy [Enhanced Mana Growth].
You have bought [Enhanced Mana Growth Lv. 1] Your current SP is 50
““Grou.””
I heard that sound before…
The first voice, other than myself, that I heard after being born into this world. The first creatures I met. Last time they were attracted to my voice, and now they came for my breakfast.
Two kindergartner sized individuals fully covered in fur appears from the trees, with wooden clubs in their hands.

Proficiency requirement fulfilled. [Enhanced Enemy Sense Lv. 1] evolved into [Enhanced Enemy Sense Lv. 2]
“Information not available”? Identify is not high enough to get all the info, I guess.
This is my first time using [Identify] on another monster but what are those stats? Individually, their stats are inferior to mine, but if they both fight against me it will be problematic. In fact, they would have probably killed me on my first day, if that stone had hit me. Isn’t this a bit too hard? I’ve only killed two rabbits so far, and both were through surprise attacks. This is my first real fight on equal terms!
Ok, calm down. There is nothing to be done about it. Isn’t this a good time to gain some real combat experience anyways? If we disregard stats, there are also skills. I believe that my skill quality and variety is enough to make me win this.
Yeah, that’s right. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can win.
“Kriehhhhhhh!”
I screamed, prompting both kobolds to ready their clubs. So, how should I handle this? Trap them and burn them down? Blind them and then kill them with a bite? Wait no, I have magic and mana, so staying in range and shooting magic should help me avoid mistakes.
“Grahh!”
Scheiße!
They did it again! Dogface #1 threw a stone at me!
Oops, I shouldn’t get distracted with useless thoughts. While I was complaining, dogface #2 rushed towards me and took a swing at me.
I cast [Earth Wall] to protect myself from the sudden strike, while also distancing myself to cast [Fire]. Using my earth wall as a cover, he ducks behind it to avoid my attack.
Dogface #1, meanwhile, picked up another rock and flung it. Same trick? Well, I can do it too. I avoided the stone and activated the new magic that I got from leveling up earth magic, [Rock Blast]. My mana starts molding the ground and shot a ball of rock towards the kobold.

Either he was surprised, or he couldn’t react, but it hit him straight in the chest, knocking him down. This is my chance!
No delay! With [Fire Magic Lv. 2]’s [Firebolt], I’ll burn that kobold to ashes. Yes, I can win! I will w…
*smack*
Oof!
A sharp pain assaulted me from my sides, as my vision started to twirl around, before flip-flopping on the ground, until I stopped.
Proficiency requirement fulfilled. [Pain Resistance Lv. 2] evolved into [Pain Resistance Lv. 3]
“Kuick...!”
Ack…breath…
Standing up, my senses were out of control. My head was throbbing. My ears ringing. The sudden feeling of nausea from landing on my head was dulled by my pained lungs, as my body demanded me for air.
Gah…*wheeze* why does it hurt so much… I need to heal myself.
I thought I had it under control but a second of lost focus, was all they needed to send me flying away. Tunnel vision… I got careless. H-How did I even forget the second kobold for even a second?! Urgh, my left sides hurts like hell…
“Graah!”
“Krieeh!!!”
[Adrenaline (Minor)] inflicted on [Dragon Hatchling *]
*bang*
Ack…that *wheeze* too close!
Reflexively letting out a vulnerable voice, I moved my body out of the way of a finishing blow. Looking at the club, crushing the grass on the spot I just was, made my thoughts accelerated as my “flight or fight” instincts silenced any pain coursing through my body.
There was no time out! No time to get a hold of my breathing rhythm, nor was there time for me to concentrate on casting a spell. Frantic as my state of mind currently is, I couldn’t even attempt to, even if I had the time.
Kobold #2 sensing my panic, continued his assault, leaving me no choice but to stay defensive, resulting in the other kobold having the chance to recover from my previous attack.
Gotta calm down…breath in…breath in…I need air! I’m gonna die at this rate!
At this moment, I am really thankful for my new body’s short stature in addition to my higher agility. It couldn’t be helped that I’m only narrowly dodging all these attacks, when my muscles are aching ‘cause of the lack of oxygen.
My head is clearing, and the nausea is gone…if I could only get a [Modest Heal] off…!
“Graah!”
“Graouh!”
*bang, bang*
Waaaaaahhh!
[Exhaustion (Minor)] inflicted on [Dragon Hatchling *]
Ahh, not good! Double-teaming on me…
…Wait, that’s an opening! Shine!
““Gruurrrghhh!””
A single moment is all you need to turn the tides… blinded, flailing, screaming…
Now, now, now, now! Kill one of them!
Fuck off! Firebolt!
Experience has reached multiple breaking points. [Dragon Hatchling *] has risen from [Level 6] to [Level 8]
Attributes have increased due to level up
Acquired 200 skill points
A direct hit to the wounded kobold’s head! Identify also shows he’s dead. Now… Rock Blast!
Imitating how I staggered kobold #1, I shot my projectile spell towards kobold #2’s chest, sending him falling onto his back. Not letting go of even a second for him to recover, I sent him flying into the air with [Earth Wall] and ended the battle by killing him mid-air with another [Firebolt]

Max level has been reached. Evolution is now available for [Dragon Hatchling *]
Huh? Wait, you can get those growth increase skills through leveling up?! Have I just wasted 150 SP for something that I would ha…wah!
*thump*
Urgh, it looks like leveling up recovered both my Health and Mana, even my ribs seem to have been repaired, but it seems like Stamina is an exception in the rule.
Exhaustion
An abnormal effect inflicted when the body overexerts itself over the limit of what the Stamina would allow. Depending on the intensity of the effect, the effect might range from limpness to loss of body functions
Nasty. Still…ha ha ha.
I am alive. Hie hie hie hie.
He ha ha. I won. I won. I won.
I would jump up in the air and continue screaming "I won" if my body wasn't feeling so fatigued. This feeling…so this is how victory tastes like. Absolutely unreal.
How weird that I’m enjoying this so much. I’m so ecstatic that even that pesky [Depression (Minor)] is gone.
I feel…so alive. Success. Victory. It seems I only now understood how precarious my new life is.
Survival or death…
One mistake nearly costed me this new life, and if I hadn’t been able to capitalize off the mistake of those kobolds, I would have been the lifeless corpse, right now. They were so close, but a single mistake helped me survive and costed them their lives.
Gosh, being able to live is so…fickle.
Sigh.
I don’t want this…
Sigh.
…Anyways, as much as I want to continue being all melodramatic, I’m literally lying on the floor completely exhausted. I need to find a bush to hide until I rest up.
Oh, I guess I can celebrate with some rabbit breakfast.

8 209Two Existentialists | S.R.
"How many existentialists does it take to screw a lightbulb?" Spencer asked with a small laugh. Once again the room was silent. You faintly heard Agent Rossi mutter, "Don't.""2. One to change the light bulb and one to observe how it symbolizes an incandescent beacon of subjectivity in a netherworld of cosmic nothingness," he said. The room was silent still, until you laughed. His eyes looked up at yours in confusion. "Wouldn't they sit in the dark and hope that the bulb decided to light again? An existentialist would never change the bulb. He would allow the darkness to exist," you questioned.-#1 #spencerreid#1 #mgg#1 emilyprentiss
