《A Dragon Idol's Reincarnation Tale》Chapter 4: An Informative Night

Hey Mama and Papa,
How are you guys doing? I hope you guys aren't feeling too down ‘cause of me.
It hasn’t been long since I was reborn. Hiehe. You guys would not believe where I was born. Another world? Not human but as a dragon? Chased in my first minutes alive by bipedal dogs?
No. It sounds too insane to believe. Unfortunately, this is my reality now, now that I am a dragon.
I just killed my first animal. It was a rabbit with a horn. Like in those hunting documentaries, I bled the rabbit out before I began butchering it. I seared the meat over a magical fire, and I ate it. Not the best meat but it was better than I thought.
Well, that was all I had to say. I miss you guys. I really do.
I love you, Mama and Papa,
Your Little Girl
Haaaaaaaaaa…
I really have nothing else to do. I don't have much that can get rid of this boredom, and I'm too full to do anything else. Going out to hunt with a full stomach sounded painful, so staying inside this bush is my only option. [Stealth] was on 24/7, so no monster could find me…hopefully.
So, maybe it was time to sleep? Strawberries were refreshing and delicious, but they weren't as filling as meat. My insomnia had finally caught up to me with my sated belly, but I still didn’t feel safe enough to fall asleep, even with my skills on.
Wait, wasn’t this the perfect time to use [Identify]? In all stories, the power of an information-gathering skill was considered invaluable.
Identify.
Bush
It is a bush
…Cool, it works. Lame description though…

Let’s start the mass Identify session #1.
Dragon Hatchling
A newborn dragon that has not matured yet. Rank G
Apparently, this world had a monster ranking system. So, it wasn’t established by a civilization but by the System Voice? Can you tell me something about the rank system, System Voice?
Rank G
The lowest order of monsters
I meant the rank part only!
Rank
Strength measurements assigned to monsters
…Is it treating me like an idiot? How rude! Couldn’t the system have mentioned this sorta information was classified or not available to me, instead of giving me these lame ass descriptions. It’s so short, it almost felt like nobody gave a shot with the writing! Meh, whatever, next!
Health
The status that governs and controls the lifeforce of the individual
Mana
The amount of mana the individual can hold at one time
Strength
The physical prowess that can be exerted by the body
Proficiency requirement fulfilled. [Identify Lv. 1] evolved into [Identify Lv. 2]
Intelligence
The mental capacity to continuously cast spells and mana intensive abilities. Applies a modifier and eases the use of mana
Vitality
The physical ability of the body to resist and endure damage. Determines physical abnormal effects application chance
Advertisement
Wisdom
The sturdiness of mana surrounding the individual to resist and endure magical damage. Also strengthens mana used in magic
Agility
The body’s ability to move more efficiently. Lessens the burden on the body through actions
Stamina
The maximum burden the body can endure. Applies abnormal effects concerning the body, if overexerted
Alright, a headache was building up for me. This might be a bit too much information, but I think I should keep it up until I’m done.
The status information was pretty simple and obvious, but I did notice by improving [Identify], the information given to me had increased. I went back to identify Strength again, and it mentioned it applied a modifier for physical attacks. Neat.
Does this mean [Identify] still had more to offer? It would explain why this skill had levels and could level up, despite not requiring any mana to use. This meant System Voice wasn't being rude, but my ability wasn't sufficient for all the information to show up. Oops, my bad System Voice. Let's make up, please.
Rank
Strength measurements assigned to monsters by the Divine System
…Disappointment…
Well, it’s not like I needed this information anyways. It’s obvious enough what it implied.
Hmph.
Still, I did hope I could acquire some information on my skills and titles though. I knew that my stats, like Strength and Vitality, would grow with me through level-ups and training. In other words, any effort I put into exerting my body would reward me in more stats.
I wasn’t 100% sure about this, but if there was no repercussions for having more skills, then maybe the rule of thumb was the more, the merrier? Of course, having more skills but leaving them at level one would be an incredible waste, seeing as how [Identify Lv. 1] was practically useless. There were a variety of skills I could obtain from the shop, but both my time and skill points were limited. I needed to learn more about my skills and then decided which skills I should focus on training.
Mana Control
Allows the user to move mana around the body. Enables the use of magic
Primal Magic
An ancient skill that allows the user to wield magics with the highest efficiency
Ooooh. Look at these two gems! Compared to my other skills, these two have that sorta “special” in their description. Well, [Mana Control] sounded like a basic mage skill, as it implied you needed it to cast spells, but still, it’s special to me! In addition, it cleared up a few questions I had.
[Primal Magic] was ambiguous. [Identify Lv. 2] couldn’t display all the information, but even with its secrets, I could tell these two skills were the reason why I was able to cast magic on the first day. Since I was born with these two skills, could it mean dragons were born with the innate ability to become mages? Ha, what am I talking about, I was able to control and ast spells on my first day of being alive. Of course, that has to be the reason!
After all, doesn’t it seem strange? I figured it out with just trial and error. Becoming a mage can’t be this easy, right? It has to be cause of these two skills synergizing perfectly together!
Now I'm excited about my titles. All of them sounded over the top. Oh man, thinking of what crazy things they’re granting me was awakening the gamer’s soul inside of me!
The Light
A title granted to a mortal recognized by the Goddess of Light. Boosts proficiency gain of magics based on Holy Element. Decreases Dark Element resistance and proficiency
Advertisement
Bearer of Kargryxmor’s Blood
A title granted to a mortal recognized by the God of Dragons. Boosts experience gain and decrease skill point costs. Decreases Water Element resistance and proficiency
Otherworldly Reincarnator
A title granted to a soul who has reincarnated with memories from its previous life. Enables the Skill Point function
Proficiency requirement fulfilled. [Identify Lv. 2] evolved into [Identify Lv. 3]
…It seemed like gods existed in this world. Soooooooo, what did I do to be recognized by two gods? I have no right to question it, but I don’t believe a god would be so whimsical enough to grant a newborn this kinda divine blessing. Never mind, maybe I’m the one overestimating a god’s thoughts here. They could have just done this for the laughs.
Haaaaaaaaaa…
…Why should I care about it? All I’ve been doing in these past days was complain, complain, and complain. Maybe it would do me good to be more optimistic, despite how fucked up of a situation I was in.
Thinking about it rationally, worrying about what the gods wanted was useless right now. Until the opportunity arises where I am allowed to ask them the questions I wanted, how about I worry more about my present. For example, what my breakfast for tomorrow would be. I’ve been lucky enough to be reborn with a ton of benefits; I’m even a dragon, even if I look like a gecko right now.
Obviously, if two gods were willing to grant me their divine blessing, they would have some plans in store for me. Well, Miss Goddess of Light, how about I live up to this title you gave me. To be honest, I didn't know if I could live up to what she expected from me, but it was without a doubt I’ve always dreamed of being under a spotlight for everybody to see. Thus, I’m planning to live up to my [The Light] title as best as I could.
I have no interest in what you gods have planned for me but in this life…I will definitely make my dream come true. I will shine!
And to do that, I needed to grow stronger. Survival was the most important fact right now. To achieve this, I must improve my stats and skills, in addition to finding a way back to civilization. Of course… the best forward for me was to get used to, urgh, killing animals for levels.
I was afraid of continuing this, that all this killing would have an effect on my personality. That I would become a murder hobo or psychopath, but what other choice did I have? Become a vegetarian? Neglect the status quo of this world just cause I came from another world with a different culture? Come on, that’s too naive, even for me.
The meat I ate every day on Earth had to come from somewhere. The only difference was I was now the hunter and the butcher simultaneously. I personally had to do the hard parts, now. They were just animals, things I must kill to survive, and survival is what I needed to do. This should be my mentality and view on everything for now. Keep training my stats and skills and continue leveling up.
“Wra…wraaaaah…”
Humanization
Enables a non-human to temporarily transform into a human. Requires 1000 SP
This was my plan for adapting to civilization again. I needed it to prevent people hunting me down for being a dragon… but, let’s leave this for tomorrow.
I hope I won’t regret being careless for one evening, but…I…sleep…

Bio: Hey there, AbyssRaven here. I'm just an avid Light Novel and Fantasy story reader who randomly thought of a story and began writing about it.
I eventually found out that I've been spending a bit too much time with building, planning, and researching for the story, that I've decided to just share it with others.
Writing is mostly a hobby for me, but I would still love any kind of criticism to improve on it.
I'm also german, so please excuse anything that sounds a bit weird...I wouldn't mind you pointing it out though.

Ashes of the Primordial
With the upcoming shutdown of the servers for Ragnarok Games’ deep dive VRMMO, ‘Ashes of the Primordial’, the player log of those online for the final night was depressingly empty-looking. A revolutionary level of realism drove Ashes to the forefront of the games market, billions of players enjoying their journey to power and glory as an avatar of their own creation. The final enemy of the game-world defeated, the company announced, in line with their stance from launch, that they would be shutting down the game exactly six months after the defeat of Sutr, the final boss. Ammanas, the player responsible for Sutr's defeat, stays online until the end. However, as the countdown hits 0, the start-hub of his dive rig (what would typically greet a forced ejection from a game) was no where to be seen and instead darkness greets him as he fades into unconsciousness. Awakening to unfamiliar sights in an unfamiliar body, one which turns out to be a lot more familiar than he first thought, now he must figure out where, how, why and what to do with the new world he finds himself in. Author note: I don't own the cover, just something found through a google search. This is also my first story and the MC will basically be unimaginably OP yet never really utilising his full power. He just wants to find somewhere to fit in to the new world he finds himself in and despite both his nature as a loner and his interests he will find himself forming connections with the denizens of this new realm. Hope you enjoy
