《Ranker's Return》Chapter 668

The demons were in chaos and at a loss upon facing the sudden magic bombardment. Then after the magic swept through, thousands of humans appeared.
“Humans!”
“Fight against them!”
“Kill them!”
The moment they confirmed that the threat was humans, the demons regained their spirit and rushed out.
“Don’t overdo it!”
“Tankers are 50%! Dealers are 70%!”
“Check your skill cooldown time! Which team does that guy rushing in front belong to?!”
The players who acted as the commander in each guild made so much noise that their throats burst. They orchestrated the battle. This was going to be a long battle, so they had to control others not to overdo it.
“They aren’t fighting like it is a brawl...” Lebron marveled at the players’ battle, which was better than he'd expected.
‘It is also good to prepare for a long battle. However, the battle won’t end that way.’
Nevertheless, he couldn’t abandon the idea of adjusting the speed.
“Aren’t they too weak? They will need to fight all day.” Lebron drew his attention away from the battlefield and looked at Hyeonu.
“Why are you looking at me like that? It is burdensome.” Hyeonu felt Lebron’s gaze and frowned slightly.
“I’m not telling you to go out and fight. Just use up all your magic power and come back. You can’t just stay here like this.”
“I’ve already said something. How can I act now? I have my pride as well, Teacher.” Hyeonu had no intention of going out.
In any case, Hyeonu’s rewards were steadily accumulating. All he had to do was participate in the battles of the nobles and demon kings, which was the highlight of this main scenario. He preferred the great mountain over the dust motes. If he moved once, he had to do it heavily in order to get the best rewards with minimal effort.
“Then what about my pride? What will happen to it if you stand here all day?” Lebron growled. Hyeonu took a step back from Lebron’s terrifying momentum.
-Just fight before you get beaten.
-I will bet 500 gold that he will definitely be hit if he says one more thing here.
-I feel like he’ll be beaten up.
The viewers giggled as they watched Hyeonu’s situation.
‘I thought I could take a bus once...’
It wasn’t bad for Hyeonu to participate in the battle. He would be able to reliably increase his experience and improve his skill proficiency.
Hyeonu would receive great rewards even if he didn’t do anything, but he felt relieved at being able to earn a bit more anyway.
“I understand. I’ll stir up the battlefield and come back. I’ll do it since you asked.” Hyeonu made that sarcastic remark and then kicked off from the ground immediately.
“Are you that curious?” The emperor only opened his mouth once Hyeonu disappeared. He knew why Lebron forced Hyeonu onto the battlefield.
“I am the teacher, so shouldn’t I know the extent of my disciple’s transformation? There is nothing more accurate than seeing it with my own eyes,” Lebron said.

“I agree with that. I am actually curious as well. How much has the marquis grown?”
The two of them were very curious about the changes in Hyeonu, who grew like a monster every time.
***
At one point, a purple bear appeared next to Hyeonu, who was crossing the plains quickly. The purple bear was on the other side of Hyeonu and sitting in juxtaposition to Tang-E, who was already sitting on one of Hyeonu’s shoulders to begin with.
‘Since I came out, let’s do it coolly,’ Hyeonu thought.
He was going to hide the things like the giant buffs and use only the stats increase from Tang-E’s buffs and Magic Spirit Creation. Later, in the decisive battles against the demon kings and senior nobles, he would spare no skills. However, this wasn’t the case now, and he had no intention of doing so.
“Tang-E, you use your magic as well. Didn’t you hear it earlier? What did that powerful ignorant uncle say?”
“What do you mean by 'powerful ignorant uncle'? Isn’t he Master dude’s teacher? Be polite.” Tang-E accused Hyeonu of vilifying Lebron.
-Tang-E calls him Master dude. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
-This is too much ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ.
-I can call you Master dude, but you can’t call your teacher like that. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
The viewers laughed at the irony Tang-E showed.
“So are you going to do it or not?” Hyeonu glared just like Lebron had done to him.
“Of course, I will do it. I’m different from Master dude.” Tang-E immediately summoned a heart and injected magic power into it.
The golden magic power that had some black in it filled Tang-E’s heart. Hyeonu saw it and also inserted magic power into the Mysterious Sky Sword. There was a great deal of magic power like he was betting everything on this attack.
“Magic?”
“It is really unbelievable that he is a close-range player.”
“I think this every time I see you. Is it right that a close-range player has more magic power than a magician?”
The rankers expressed their feelings as they felt the flow of magic power. At this moment, one ranker questioned, “So why are there two?”
Obviously, one magic power belonged to Alley Leader. However, there were two huge flows of magic power, and they were very close to each other...
“That bear?”
“I heard rumors that his pet is very powerful, but I didn’t expect this.”
The rankers were astonished to learn that one of the magic powers belonged to Tang-E. The over 5,000 players gathered here were rankers, and few of them could instantly unleash stronger magic power than Tang-E.
Just then, a flash of light poured in. Golden lightning strikes fell on parts of the city, including the city walls. There were countless demons and demonic creatures caught up in the attack. It was impossible to count them.

The players were terrified by the messages that continued to rise before their eyes. Before they could pull themselves together, a huge storm of pure energy swirled toward Penn. Hundreds of purple pure energies covered the city. Nothing could withstand their formidable power. It happened quite far from the battlefield, so it didn’t directly affect the battle. Still, it was enough to have an indirect impact.
The demons and demonic creatures panicked for a moment. Part of the city was destroyed, and their kin within range were exterminated without leaving a trace.
The rankers didn’t miss this opportunity. They perfectly captured the moment when the battle turned into a hunt.
“Use your skills!”
“It is time to deal with them!”
“Handle them in moderation and use your skills well! Don’t waste your magic power if you can kill them easily!”
The battle outside the city walls quickly came to an end. It was the result of a single action done by Hyeonu and Tang-E.
With Tang-E and Gom-E, Hyeonu returned to the emperor and Lebron's location. Tang-E and Hyeonu deserved to show proud faces, but they didn’t do so. It was no different from teaching a fish how to swim. The emperor was a man who could destroy the city in front of them as long as he made up his mind.
“Your skills have improved during this time. Marquis, you are always so unobstructed,” the emperor said to Hyeonu upon his return.
"Thank you, Your Majesty.” Hyeonu just thanked the emperor for the compliment, rather than responding to his words.
“The magic spirit is different. What happened?” Lebron’s interest wasn’t as vague as the emperor's.
He had definitely noticed it—the magic spirit. He was focused on Hyeonu’s magic spirit, which seemed to have a personality now.
“I thought about how to create it and used it often, so it changed to become like this at some point.” Hyeonu spoke some nonsense. He never actually thought about it. He just used it, and his proficiency increased. This generated a personality in the magic spirit.
“Really? Then I should concentrate a bit more on the magic spirit.”
Lebron had learned how to create a magic spirit from John Blake, but he didn’t use it as often as Hyeonu did. He was just immersed in the fun of using his increased magic power. Now he felt that Hyeonu’s magic spirit was better than he thought and decided he should pay attention to it.
“How long will the battle take, Marquis?” the emperor muttered when he saw the burning Penn.
“I think it will take around three or four hours. It is a city, so there is a large number of demons and demonic creatures. However, the adventurers are fighting them, so three or four hours should be enough.”
Hyeonu expected that it would take around four hours for Penn to fall. There was a basis for this idea. First of all, Tang-E and Hyeonu had already wandered through the city. In addition, all the players gathered here were rankers.
‘I roughly remember how many there were...’
Hyeonu had been to Penn more than once. He didn’t know the precise number, but he had a rough idea of how many monsters there were.
‘It is less than 100,000.’
100,000 was a very large number, but it wasn’t as big as expected.
‘Not everyone can fight just because they are demons or demonic creatures.’
Hyeonu had wandered through the different demon world cities and learned about their habits. There were the weak among the strong. It was clear that a certain number of them would’ve fled after seeing Tang-E and Hyeonu’s attack. There was no way whoever who fired such an attack could be weak.
“Where is the noble?”
“He is usually so arrogant.”
“He has enjoyed his rights, so he should fulfill his duty!”
Some demons tried to look for the master who ruled the city, but he wasn’t around. He had already abandoned Penn a long time ago and fled. Meanwhile, the players started to capture Penn with a crushing force. Pandemonium unfolded throughout the city. The demons and demonic creatures were helpless.
Hyeonu and the emperor knew that most of the rankers were static and didn’t leave Etono. Yet while they were stagnant, they gained experience from fighting the low level demons and demonic creatures. The demons and demonic creatures in Penn were the same as those they could meet in Etono.
In other words, it was possible for the rankers to hunt the demons and demonic creatures perfectly. They knew their weaknesses and patterns. The rankers were excellent at killing the monsters they knew.
“That time? I think it is a bit hard,” the emperor commented as he felt the diminished vitality inside Penn. At this rate, it would take six hours, not four.
“The important thing is to occupy the city, not exterminate all those inside,” Hyeonu replied.
“Then your time is correct.” The emperor nodded. “By the way...”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“How strong is Duke Blake?”
“What are you saying...?”
“Duke Blake is a demon king like me. It means he killed a former demon king. I’m asking about that. Marquis, didn’t you say that you saw the battle yourself?”
“Ah...”
John Blake’s battle against Rubolle was reproduced in Hyeonu’s mind. John Blake had used a giant sword and showed off tremendous sword techniques.
‘Considering that Rubolle used the magic power of the magic power stone...’
It was difficult to say if he was superior to the emperor.
“I don’t know. Still, you are both demon kings. Wouldn’t you be similar?” Hyeonu’s choice was to feign ignorance. There was no need to choose John Blake and give the emperor a bad image.
“Really? You are saying that...” The emperor’s expression changed strangely.

Sod's Law (Dropped)
This fiction has been dropped, you're more than welcome to read it anyway (there is sort of an ending). But you have been warned... Sod's law is a more extreme version of Murphy's law. While Murphy's law says that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong (eventually), Sod's law requires that it always goes wrong with the worst possible outcome. For example, concepts such as "bad fortune will be tailored to the individual" and "good fortune will occur in spite of the individual's actions" are sometimes given as examples of Sod's law in action. This would broaden Sod's law to a general sense of being "mocked by fate". In these aspects it is similar to some definitions of irony, particularly the irony of fate. - Definitions of Sod's Law on Wikipedia. The protagonist, as many before them, and many who followed, thought they were just entering a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing-Game). Unbeknownst to them however, was a short paragraph in the Terms & Conditions, that, upon agreement, would actually transport them to a fantasy world, loosely based on the game they thought they were entering. - Something anyone could be forgiven for, no-one reads them after all. In this new world, they discover that people are born with “Traits”, a System recognised, ability, skill, or talent, that they are born with. Sod's Law was not a trait they, or anyone else for that matter, would want. Pure madness follows. Yup, this is about a character transferred to a fantasy game-world with the worst luck imaginable. This is my first fiction so I apologise for any grammar and spelling mistakes that may be made. Hopefully it is readable, and if so please tell me! But if it's not, also tell me, but in a constructive way if at all possible? Due to the nature of the “Trait” the story will be dark in places, with plenty of gore and profanity, hence the tags. There may also be scenes of a sexual nature, but nothing full on – sorry guys but you'll have to go elsewhere for that.

GLADIUS // Eret X Reader
PHANTASM SERIES BOOK 4---Gladius, (noun): (in ancient Rome) a short sword.---Eret perked up as soon as you and Simon walked into the room, a wide and welcoming smile coming onto his face. He was softer looking than his father had been, but you could still see some of the similar traits. He had a head of thick dark curls, and the same sharp jaw that his father had had. He wasn't as bulky though - he was tall and thin - and his face was a lot more open. What separated him most from his father's likeness though was the colorful cape, and the large mirrored glasses he wore - swirling with colors reflected from the room. He stood from his seat when Maven let the doors swing shut behind her, that wide smile still on his face. "You must be the embassy.""And you must be King Eret." You said, stooping into a bow. "Oh, there's no need for that." Eret said as you rose from your bow. He stepped down from the dias where his throne sat - colorful cape trailing behind him - and came to stand in front of you, taking your hand instead. "I'm not really one for formalities." He grinned, shaking your hand. His palm was warm against yours, and you could feel some slight callouses - most likely from practicing his sword work.
