Firstly and fore-mostly I’d like to thank you all for purchasing a Copy of Getting to Know Vanclar by Reynerd Gerten, and urge you to read Understanding Vanclar by Lord Gildercrest as well. He is not only a good friend of mine, but a renowned scholar. He is also reason why I am able to share this knowledge with you.

To begin with, Vanclar, unlike many other nations of the world, is not fettered by the traditional ways of farming, agriculture, and the need for freshwater. Instead, the mighty vampire nation relies upon slave markets to provide them with blood their main source of sustenance. It is also the reason why you will never see any farmland within the boundaries of the great realm.

Another distinction is that while most nations are rural, Vanclar is not, and is instead one great big metropolis that has been built up for hundreds of years. Some of the buildings would even have dated back further than B.D. (Before the Demonic Wars.) And while slavery in the later years has been abolished by the Primes (Otherwise known as Princes of the Realm), there exists withing the counrty an illegal organisation known as the Blood Rings, which is dedicated to providing the Primes with suitable blood for their lofty station. It is also why the Blood Rings are tolerated despite the Primes' open proclamations that they will eradicate the nefarious organization.

Delving a little further into Vanclar, Gildercrest has also discovered that Vanclar, much like Earth, has its own police force. Called the Demaval, or Demavali if there is more than one. They are headed by a Prime who is elected to that position. They are also governed by a Ruling Council of older vampires that rule the three major cities, Lunet, Torex, and Valen. Each City seats six council members, and those that hold a golden gate are called the Lord Defenders of the Golden Gates.

However, more importantly, it seems the old racial divides still exist within Vanclar with most of the Darker Races such as the goblins, orcs, ogres, and giants relegated to the slums of Torex. Whereas humans and elves who are in the majority hold sway over Valen, Lunet, and much of Vanclar.

It has also been observed that while most vampires are not ardent followers of Demonology, most do hold prayers for them, join in on celebrations, and hold festivities in their honor. There are also several dozen religious sects that have spent their entire lives devoted to demon worship, and are closely being watched by the Demaval for signs of criminal behavior. However most disturbing of all is the prophecy they hold dear to their hearts, wherein it states that the whole will end in fire, blood, and shadow.

I have been unable to obtain a copy of this prophecy, but it seems that more than a few of these sects are not only dangerous, but are willing to speed forward this prophecy by any means necessary.

Lastly, from what I could gather from Gildrercrest’s writings, the city itself is in turn split into families, families that have become powerful in their own right with small armies, wealth, and status.
