However, Khorasan knew there was no time for such games. Each second that he wasted here was another second lost, when he could be warning the people. Ready or not, he had to unleash everything he had into a devastating attack, and hope it was enough to send it back to the Darker Plane.

The surge of magical energy that flowed through him, molded into a blast of telekinetic power that would flay its mind, and rend it apart.
The creature which had not moved an inch, watching him with red augurs, when he waved his hands in the signs, and felt himself go limp with exhaustion. The backlash of magical energy, weakening him, when the creature simply exploded into nothing.

The surge of magical energy that flowed through him, molded into a spirit bow, and quiver that did not truly exist in this world, when he loosed an arrow.
The creature which tried to move aside, staring up at him in surprise, when the blue arrow pierced the mist, and shredded it apart. The backlash of magical energy, weakening him, and causing him to pant for breath.

(Fire roar. 10 Mana.)
The surge of magical energy that flowed through him, transformed into a tempest of heat, when he waved his arms and released surges of white-hot flames that licked the air.
The mist that surrounded the Keeper, wavering a little, when something clutched his heart, and squeezed. The black spots that flew across his vision, filling him with blind panic, when he began to fall.

Magic released at last, he let out a heavy sigh, and not for the first time, he wished he knew more about them. Keepers for all their dangers, were far less of a threat compared to the other denizens that inhabited the Darker Plane, waiting for lost souls, and feeding on their own hatred and fear. His one visit to that plane of existence, an enlightening experience, if not utterly terrifying at how far a soul was twisted once it left its mortal coil, but that was neither here, nor there.

Patting his dun mare on the neck who seemed as equally disturbed, he wondered what could have brought the creature here, when he nudged his horseback into a trot. The outskirts of the small farming village that appeared ahead, a quiet haven of peace and tranquility as people went about their business, tending sheep, hanging clothes up to dry, or harvesting wheat for the mills.
